Gorramit, I wan't ACTION FIGURES, and a big plastic Serenity, and keychains, and alla that kinda exploit-it-to-the-hilt merchandising crap.

Definate maor seller, the 'Dobson' T-shirt -
I RODE ON SERENITY AND ALL I GOT WAS SHOT!

We need to bully and extort Mattel a lil bit, hopefully they'll see the $$$opportunity$$$ sitting in front of em...

Yeah, I'd go for a poseable Jayne action figure!

And some Firefly stationery would be nice also!

Book: “A duel?”
Wash: “With swords?”
Simon: “The Captain's a good fighter, he must know how to handle a sword?”
Zoe: “I think he knows which end to hold.”

Totally, a Jayne figure would be soooo cool. But the facial features should be really lifelike--like all of those wrestling figures!
Stickers would be great too.

Yeah, but I couldn't picture too many 12 year olds going out and collecting Firefly figures. No offence but Mattel tends to cater to the younger generation. Besides, lets imagine a young boy asking mommy, "What's a companion?"

However, there is one Figure artist who will do the Serenity crew justice. And maybe even throw in Saffron & Nishka to boot. Mcfaralne. Now that is a man who does good work. And he like to do the kind of cult tv / movie figures (ie: Strange Brew, Austin Powers, All the horror movies) for fanatics like us. That would be some shiny stuff. Imagine all the Serenity characters in the highest of detail complete with a few accesories, and a display stand complete with 5 phrases per character. So here's a thought.....If you could have such a figure, what phrase would you want each to say?

such as...

Wash, "I was in a firefight, well I was in a fire...well, I got fired, from a job as a fry cook"

That would be freaking awesome.

Shiny!!!!!!!!

ok each charcters pull string...Hmmm
Mal: "Morbid and creepifying I got no problem with."
Zoe: "You're losing the higher ground here Sweetcakes"
Wash: "Oh my gosh, Who's flying this thing? Oh right, that would be me."
Inara: "Yes, exactly, but I believe the precise words I used were Don't"
Jayne: "I'll be in my bunk"
Book: "The speacial hell"
Simon: " Could you not do that while we....ever"
River: "You're afraid we will suffocate. But we wont. We'll freeze to death."

Now, that's what I'm talking about. Though not so much pull string. Just a small button on the display stand. Have you ever seen the Mcfarlane figures?

That is detail. Some excellent "shiny" quotes.

Actually, a much better set of sculptors are the ones at Sideshow Toys www.sideshowtoy.com. They do awesome work on 1/6 scale figures and are the ones who have been doing the great busts of Star Trek and LOTR. They do licensed figures for many smaller properties too, such as the Universal Movie Monsters, Platoon, Get Smart, Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.

I run an online group for 1/6th scale customizers, and we use a lot of Sideshow's stuff. It's a little spendy at times, but the product never ceases to amaze. You can check out some of my custom figures here:

So then what would be required to put out a set of the Serenity crew? and Safforn. Yeah I like the bad chick!

I'd rather give $$$ to a fellow browncoat than Mattel, or perhaps we could get Sideshow in on the bandwagon.

By the way-any other takers on 5 quotes per figure?

Well, Why not pressure all of them? Why keep all your eggs in one basket? If one won't pick up the toy line, the other may, and if they all do, SHINY!

Although, I think Macfarlane might be the best bet, personally. Mcfarlane's statuettes seem to be more "cult" driven. They did statuettes of Doug and Bob Mackenzie, The Mackenzie Brothers, that were awesome. Everyone I speak with about them are like, "Who?" But the few who know them are surprised that a couple of characters as obscure as those two got figurines made of them.

His company, not MacFarlane himself, does fine work. But he's a dishonest man who breaks business deals and doesn't give his first rate sculptors, painters and designers any credit for their work. I will say this in such a way so you'll all immediately grasp it: He is the Fox Broadcasting of Toys: He brings you good things, but he is no good.

I would much rather, if there were a Firefly toy license, it went to someone reputable. Someone on another thread mentioned Sideshow. I've never heard anything but good things about them, and their toys are actually better (which is really saying something; MacFarlane Toys set the bar pretty high.)

Excellent! I take back what I said earlier - I want a poseable Jayne action figure that talks!

Mal -
"I need that in captain dummy talk"

"Morbid & creepifying I got no problem with"

"I'm Malcom Renoylds, Captain of Serenity"

"I'm not a Monster" (my wife likes that one)

"Next time you stab me in the back, have the guts to do it to my face"

"If your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet I will end you."

My best friend has one of those Talking Presidents of George W. He says 14 different things. They even have a Bill Clinton.

Ok so my Mal says 6 things but hey he's the captain.

So still open...Any figure 5 phrases.

Wow, someone ELSE saws through Todd MacFarlane's little smokescreen.. surprising.

Captbaggy, every time I've ever tried to point that out before about the guy I've been verbally burned at the stake by rabid fans who seem to think he does all that work all by his lonesome...
::rolls eyes::

Nice to have a little validation...
=======================================
Jayne figure quotes

"I'll be in my bunk."
"Could we move this conversations in a not-jaynes-fault kinda direction?"
"Time for some thrillin heroics."
"That's why I never kiss em on the mouth."
"10 percent of nothin, into nothin, carry the nothin..:fade:"

For reasons a complete mystery to me, that last line drives my girl into gigglefits, so, it's kinda gotta be there.

MacFarlane is a collector; he's the guy who bought both Mark McGuire's #70 and Barry Bonds' #73 home run balls.

He does very nice work, and his figures are smaller than sideshow toys' products, although I hear the MacFarlane is branching out to the 12" market with his sports figures.

Depending on size of figure, I'd go with either of these companies, as long as the product looked good.

And I want a strawberry-eating Kaylee figure, with "ecstatic facial action".

if so have you seen the gag reel where he keeps blowing it?

Why, yes! It is from "War Stories." I cut and pasted it from the Chinese translation thread right here at FFF.net.

I never saw the gag reel, but I saw all the clips at the fox site. Nathan Fillion joked that every time Alan speaks in Chinese, it sounds like the very first thing he ever had to say in Chinese, no matter what it is. Is that the line he blows when he finally gives up and says, "Oh, God, I wish I weren't me right now."?

Yeah, that's a good point. Not that I could afford as much as they are asking for a 12" talking action figure, but would they send him clothed Firefly-wise? Or would I get a nekkid dolly of Nathan Fillion that I would need to spend more $ to buy Firefly accurate clothes for? You must've obviously seen what they offer in the way of action figure accoutrements.

One quote we need for the Kaylee doll would have to be.

"Have good sex."

If we could get the look Simon shots her on his dolls face that would be great.

So are we going to chose one or more of these guys and see what happens or not.

Hey,we got the DVD's, I bet we can get the dolls. Espcialy since we are getting a movie.

I mean. I thought Andromeda sucked, and they have action figures???? Yeah I know it's got Gene's name on it. I think Gene would have liked Firefly. Anyway, so what do we do to get these guys or somebody to make our beloved Serenity crew? I've started looking into the whole customizing hobby, maybe I'll venture into it. Anybody else do figure customizing of Firefly figures? Got any pics to share? Any help with figure customizing parts & uniforms would be appreciated.

I love action figures. I have like all the Jurassic Park action figures and I don't even know why. Can we have a Badger action figure too? (is Mark gonna be in the movie, by the way?). I think there should be something with the Jayne song. I don't know what.

How about the Jayne quote about the stick that sounds like it's raining? I don't know why, but that always cracks me up.
Wash's "......or we will blow a crater in this little moon." or the one about juggling goslings.
Or Zoe's "I think you've got a problem with your brain being missing."
or Simon's "This must be what going mad feels like."

Action figures are great. I need a sticker to put on my guitar case. Bumper stickers too. So uh...do these action figures come with accessories? Food for thought.
