I'm so clueless with names. I need a list that says "So and so who plays such and such on this show." Then I could say "ooooh, I know who they are."

That's okay. I still maintain my "I'm just coming for the Browncoats" stance.

Typically at the site, they'll turn each name into a link to a profile, that will likely happen later. then you click a name and usually see a pic and as you discribe, get a "....played X on blah and does blah."

Meh. That sounds like too much work. I think I prefer to live in my ignorant bubble and do what I did last year.

Ash will remember this: We're walking out of the Marriott. Some guy is walking in and holds the door open for me. I say thank you, walk out. We get outside and Ash is all freaking out "Do you know who that is?"

Me: Some guy in a black t-shirt?
Ash: No! That's such and such from whatever!!!!
Me: Oh.

Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind if the D*C fever hits me mid August.

Hey! I'm only as good as the info I am given!

I think we will have to confirm then reconfirm room #s for parties this year. Maybe flyers or something.

Yes, I do believe the wife will be coming as Miss Persephone again this year. She had talked to Cary about actually running a Miss Persephone pageant this year. That would be a lot of fun.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Already posted this over in "General" under "Bedlam Bards @ Dragon Con 2006?" thread, but thought I would post it here too for all the Dragon Con browncoats to see.

Ok, so for you browncoats that went to Dragon Con last year, I am sure you all got to meet and or hear the Bedlam Bards play. Cedric, Hawk & Lilly were great last year & the Bards took part in the Dragon Con Parade w/ Cedric providing music for the browncoats & marching songs. It was a real blast.

The Bards made the parade something to remember and they browncoats. Right now they are browncoats who need our help. Cedric has been trying to reach the Powers That Be at Dragon Con about attending, but to date has not heard back from them. This is where we come in. We browncoats have always stuck together & right now the Bards need our help.

What I am asking is that as many browncoats that are of a mind to send a quick email to Dragon Con asking that they book the Bedlam Bards for the Con this year. It will only take a moment of your time & it will be helping out a great group of hard working browncoats.

The Bards will playing at the Flanvention out in Burbank, CA in December:

http://www.boosterevents.com/Conventions/FlanventionII/tabid/308/Defau
lt.aspx

I encourage all you west coast browncoats that go to check them out.

Check out the Bards sites here:

http://www.bedlambards.com/

http://www.bedlambards.com/Browncoats.html

Pick up a copy of their On the Drift CD which has some great tunes on it. I advise you get them quick since CDBaby has already sold out of them once before. My personal favorite is the song "On the Drift" which was inspired by the episode "Out of Gas". That song gives me chills every time I listen to it. You can get the CD here:

http://cdbaby.com/cd/bedlambards/from/celtic/

So, get to typing browncoats. Help out some fellow browncoats & help make Dragon Con 2006 another memorable one for all us 'coats.

Keep flyin'!

Wheee!!! Jumping into the thread with oodles of excitement. Not that I'm wasting time at work. D*C is far more important than what they pay me to do.

I'm trying out the Marriot this year, see how that works out for me. I'll be closer to the table, at least

And this year I do solemnly swear to not babysit any of my non-BC friends so as not to miss the parties again. After all, if you're old enough to get drunk, you're old enough to crawl back to your room yourself

oh, you're a long hair fan.

I've been having this fight (well discussion) (no, fight) with my mom and my sister, they both love long hair, Where as I maintain that the only reason I like long hair is cause its such an improvement when they cut it off. (I'm all for neatish and shortish) I'm babbling on for no good reason, but I guess the crucial question is...

Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn) long and dyed, or short and natural?

I am also not bringing non-bc friends. But i'm not bringin any friends, so that not really by design...

but I would like everyone to know that I can hold my booze and never stumble home, so you can invite me to aaaaallll these marvellous sounding parties, dare I say it? shindigs, with out a concern in the world.

yey! parties!

Aragorn hair. Definitely.

Mm mm. I love it when they're hair's long enough to hang in their eyes. Especially when it's curly and I can run my fingers through it.

I know of a couple Harry Potter friends who are also Browncoats who I might meet up with to say hello, but I'm really just going to meet all of you!

Seryn, Viggo could have ANY GORRAM HAIR HE WANTS and I would still jump his bones. The man is utterly gorgeous and his creativity just makes him so sexy in my opinion!

Can't wait to party with you all!

Found it!

also found a shiny messenger bag that I now really really want.

But I just spend most of the last week on ebay, buying Barbie dols for my neice (birthdays comin up, you can tell, theres a lot of pink about and no-one has nay money left!)

With postage to lil' ole' liverpool I think its going to have to be next month now.

NO ONE LET ME FORGET! cause I will, i'm a bit crap like that. And its such a shiny bag... (yup, bag fetish. Sigh)

but Fireflygal, you have to save me a lanyard and a large messenger bag! Could you see your way to 'loosing' one of each under the sofa until the 30th?

Wouldn't it be "The uberpixelated Random D*C Nook thread on the 20th Floor of the TREE"?

TRISTAN

This will be my first year at DragonCon...I am going with my wife (a veteran of at least one) and will be meeting up with several far-flung friends there. None of them have the level of obsession I do (I am working on that you will convert!), so I have been told I can play where I want as long as I show back up to drive home Sunday night...
Now, not having EVER been a fan of anything to this extent, I never sought out others who shared the same love. I want to meet ALL of you that are going, and I would love to go to all these shindigs, but I don't want to come across as pushy. Is there generally a place that all the browncoats meet up to eyeball one another (to be sure they aren't Alliance plants, ya know)?
Forgive my rambling, but I feel like a kid about to go into a toy store without adult supervision (even if it is 150-some-odd days away.)

Thank you all for any advice.

HOlding until you get back, Captain.

I've had an Idea (yeah, it did hurt a bit) The hotel rooms occupied by all on this fair thread will be getting signs on their doors 'Random Nook Towers' or some such.
That way, anyone looking for anyone else can find us with little trouble,

If the Marillion pouring out of one room, the alcohol flowing out of another, the corset clad lady pirates launching raids on their neighbours just for the fun of it and the people running clutching their heads and mumbling about randomness and sandy knickers don't clue you in.

More importantly, it means I can find my way back to the rooms, which is always good.

Then again, theres always phone tag.

oooooh. toy shops with out the restraints, fun.

Well, at least one of the days will find the wife and I in medieval/dark ages armor. She will be in full plate, and I in something approaching the Rohan of LOTR (I am also an armorer in my spare time). I suppose I could bring along the siege engines...would the pirates mind a trebuchet aimed at their door?

Yeah...no restraints...toy store...chaos ensues!

Holding until you get back, Captain.

I think having signs on the doors is a great idea, so we can tell people "Look for room number such and such with the Big sign on the door that says such and such. That's where the party's at."

Yeah.

Oooh, anyone remember the party last year with the glow necklaces (that we wanted to go to but didn't?) We need a cool theme so everyone will wish they were at OUR party.

er, no, but only if its about a foot high and flings candy. Anything bigger and you may face objections from the hotel staff.

Gorramit! A Firefly loving armourer, and he's married.

I have no luck.

Still would you like an apprentice? I'll work for room and board!

You'd better visit as well, I want to see your wifes suit. And your Rohan get up as well, and bask in the warm glow of my own jealousy for a minute or two.

If anyone is wondering what i'm prattling on about, I want to, if at all possible study leather working and possibly armour manufacture (right word?)

aw hell, I wanna run away and beg Weta to employ me.

Theme, theme.....

*thinks, thinks*

How about Calvin ball? Everyone has to bring a mask of some kind, and earn emoticons. (ummmm.....)

we could serve pepsi-milk in the penalty box (the desk) and if enough cute strangers to go around turn up we could indroduce the cloven-fruit rule.

I dunno, strike that idea I had, I think masked strangers, sugary concoctions and the cloven fruit game may just be too much for one hotel room.

Yeah, I'm really interested in traditional craft as they related to costume, wanted to get somewhere that could combine the making with the research and the testing, but not sure hoe to even start. There alwway seems to be a huge block on every path.

Sorry, got another rejection letter today, feeling the 'should have a career by now' blues.

But this is the end of the whining right now.

A foot high and flings candy...I think I can do that. The hotel staff actually hangs around during this weekend? I thought they'd run for the hills and turn over management to the first people that showed up.

Seryn, I actually started out working in leather, mostly lamellar-style armor, and then slowly graduated up to forcing my will upon sheets of steel. The first suit of metal armor I made was from the hood of a 1981 Cutlass...way too thin! I had no guidance at all when I began working with the leather, and I did not apprentice myself to an armorer to learn the steel. I do, however, have many, many reference books and a lot of patience (sometimes ). I only cold-work the steel; I do not have a forge.
Depending on where you live, I am always willing to teach just about anything armor-related.
And yes, if I know where to find all of you, I would like to meet everyone that's going. Shouldn't be hard to find each other, eh?

If you have any questions at all, Seryn (or anyone), I will be happy to answer. I did not know there were other armoring Browncoats out there!

Holding until you get back, Captain.
