I was planning to arrive around 4:00, but I may show up earlier in an attempt to secure choice roomage, and get connecting rooms for the hidey peeps.
As things draw closer I would suggest we have a list of arrival times and those of you who did not make the reservation might consider giving your full names to those of us that did, we may be able to put you name on the room if we arrive first, then you would be able to check in normally. Otherwise, I expect most of you will be coming in on the MARTA train from the airport (it's $1 I think, and puts you out right under the mall beside the hotel) we can arrange to meet at the surface, help with baggage, and check in and getting you to your rooms. If you anticipate bringing with you more that you can reasonably be expected to tote around, We might be able to arrange pick-up at the airport.
Once we get everyone in and settled, and passes obtained, I know a great pub....

I should look into one of those....cell thingies.

Sounds good. I may be one of the lucky ones in that I am already rooming with the wife and some friends who reserved a room quite awhile ago. They will be there before I am, so my check-in will be fast and painless. I should be available shortly after that to help "tote" if need be...but I will have to check to be sure I know what's going on with my peeps. It should only take me about two hours to drive there, which would put me in about 7:30-8:00 Atlanta time...then I have to figure out where to park, find my wife, and get all the goodies up to the room.
A central location would be a wonderful idea...and that pub sounds like an even better one.

Holding until you get back , Captain.

tristan, If you're coming in Friday night, most everyone will already be checked in. Most of us will come in Thursday night or early morning friday, as con activities begin Friday, usually around 1:00 I think. Well, 1:00 is when the 'dealer's room' opens. That's in the marriott down 1 escalator and on the left, It's where lots of booths are set up selling lots of goodies. The past two years there has been a 'Fan Table' for us right out side this entrance. There's no guarantee that we'll get the same sweet spot I guess, but I'm sure our fine S.E.B.C (South Eastern BrownCoats) will do their best to have another shiny table on that floor for us to meet. It is the best spot to run into other 'Coats. Last year they even had a 'message board' where we could leave contact info etc.
So, Fan table. Good thing.

What lissa & I have to do is reach an agreement on a departure time from wherever in the Boston area she's gonna be at. Mapquest returns an estimated 18 hours driving time from MIT to the Atlanta Hyatt. I figure a reasonable departure time from Boston of 6:00 a.m. would mean an arrival of around midnight. This appears to work well, as the partying should just be getting into gear about then.

Figuratively! Really, peeps!

Also: LMD, this would be where I state that a road trip down that includes you works well for me, but, sadly, the return trip would be problematical to the point of impossibility. Sorry, dude. Any workaround you can think of?

That is to say, I'm sorta planning my return via Maine, New Brunswick, Quebec.

Wow, I'm gone for 3 days and I miss so much...

I'll be there Thursday afternoon and will be trying my hardest to get the same spot for the table that we had last year. And we'll have the little message board again this year. It seemed to work pretty well. Maybe we should just post directions to the pub on it and let everyone stumble in

So yeah, table, Thursday, I'll be available for bag tote-age. If anyone is getting in early Thursday, I'm thinking about making reservations to get into the new aquarium in the morning, since we can't check in until noon-ish. Just throwing it out there

Noooooo! no posting of direction to the pub, it's almost a secret. It's a nice quiet place. Tell any coats that ask, but posting will draw crowds. I like the pub for avoiding crowds, unless they're all 'coats.

Dunno if we've settled on a day to be pirates. Saturday morning is the parade and I kinda probably plan to be in that, so I couldn't be a pirate until probably after lunch. Can't speak for anyone else, though.

Oooh, a parade! (Remember, this is my first one, so I will be acting like...well, see my first few posts in this thread)
I cannot wait to march alongside my Browncoat brethren (and sistren)!

I have a dream, that one day there will be more of us marching than stormtroopers! That the coats of brown will flow in the breeze of freedom! In the breeze of independence! That we, the mighty, the shiny, will bring about the return of the 'Verse, so that those that know not the happiness and love we have will be taken out into the black, and will know Serenity!

I gotta say, Tristan, I like your turn of phrase.

So little treasure maps, rum, and a parade. This is shaping up to be one very shiny D*C. I can't wait to see everyone again, and to meet new 'coats.

And now that I've wasted another 5 minutes of work time, I shall go back into hiding.

This is my photobucket of the parade. They're not great, but some are fairly OK. I think we're first.

And this is the general D*C album. Some are pretty terrible, but some are pretty good. There aren't any desciptions, 'cause I'm lazy, but it's fairly recognizable who people are

I will be dressing as Mal...from the series, not the movie. The hardest thing will be making the actual browncoat...I have not yet found a suitable pattern. Well, the boots'll be fun, too...I have seen a site somewhere that goes into how to build those. My pistol should be here soon; I'll need it to build the holster. The suspenders are similar to old WWII 'spenders; I think I can find those at a surplus store along with the belt. What am I missing? Oh, shirt and pants...if I can't find them online, I guess I will have to build those as well...
The wife will hopefully be dressing as Kaylee (mechanic garb).

Hee, hee, I am looking forward to this!

Yeah, Jewel seems to enjoy herself, but was it just me or did she seem a little more distant last year then she did the year before? Just sayin'. She's not listed yet for this year and she was always the first announced so might be she has other plans this year.

So we have Adam again (he so kicks @$$), Summer (can't wait to meet the lovely lady) & Alan. So far, so good. Here's hoping some others show this year.

Would it be too much to ask Buddah to bring Joss Whedon to us this year with the plastic rocket and the pony?
