I really am quite stunned...I never knew. I always thought something like puke green or various shades of brown or yellow would be ridiculed thusly, but maroon? I've generally always liked it.

I've always danced around the issue of favourite color, too...I think I just say white, dunno.

I don't think I need to announce my favourite color.

You can be like LMD and choose White as your favourite, as White includes all colors.

those colours certainly ain't pleasant, and placed side by side maroon is perhaps the prettier colour, but you only ever see the poo brown colours painted on the walls in serial killers homes in the movies. Nobody dyes polyester that colour and forces small children dress in it.

yes, I used to say 'irridescent' because it really annoyed people. Then I used to say all those colours between black and white, but people used to think I meant grey. so now I just say green.

My senior year of HS, we had to pick Class Colours. Our first choice was "plaid" and they made us go back and pick a new one. The second one we picked was "Tie dye". They got really pissed at that. I think we ended up with something like black and purple. I don't rememember now. But I remember that whatever the colors were, they clashed terribly with our class flower, which was the sunflower.

huh what?

Did you not have to do that in high school? For some stupid reason, they make you pick class colours and a class flower and a class song and a class quote (ours was "Life is like a box of chocolates, etc.") and then Most Popular and Most Likely to Succeed and all those VERY annoying things and everyone votes and then it all ends up in the yearbook. Only, my senior class was full of morons (especially the officers who were in charge of all this stuff) who thought it was so important they get their own way that they cheated and stacked the vote. Really lame. Our class song was something by Billy Joel about having sex on the beach. When they ask us musical personas to perform it at graduation (my friend wrote an orchestration for it, which turned out very nice) we had to change the lyrics because the principal informed us they were "inappropriate for a school function."

Why am I telling this story?

And really, can you blame me for not going to my reunion?

I'm farily certain it's not just your senior class. Overbearing morons the world over are drawn to dictatorial displays regarding pointless details like class colors. And then they get degrees in education administration to nurture the next generation of Idiots.

ah.

I think there was something vaguely like that. The teachers handed out prizes for best in art or top grade in science or something, and our year they also gave out 'prizes' to the delinquents as a joke (the girl who wore a sweatshirt in bright colours all the time despite being suspended for it half the year got a babies sweatshirt - which she wore for the rest of the day, the lad everyone new was going to end up in jail got striped pyjamas, class idiot got a clowns wig, nose and shoes, that sort of thing) but I don't think british schools as a whole go for the big patriotic colours and songs thing.

Anyone suggesting that we pick a school flower would have suffered a fate worse than the guy that was gaffa taped to the gym walls.

The only quote I can remember from school is about a week before we broke up there was a co-ordinated raid on the local cinemas, and hundreds of these filched promotional postcards saying something like 'me and education got along like a school on fire' appeared all over the school.(which is why everyone had a really hard time believing that when there was a fire about a year after we left, it was an electrical fault and not disgruntled pupils)

Oh, takes me back, school was fun.

I'm seeing reference to a Billy Joel song called "This is the Time" that seems apropriate for a senior class song and has this line in it, "And so we embrace again behind the dunes." I shudder to think that the moron that found that line objectionable is in charge of a high school.

Oh and water balloons for everybody. *Dave starts flinging water filled balloons at all and sundry*

Nope you and in fact all of us males are all perfectly dry thanks to that previously mentioned Soaking, Dreching, and Inundation shield. And now that I've lulled the ladies into a false sense of invulnerability the next batch of water balloons will be aimed for the wall behind and the floors above them and timed to arrive all at once. The splashback will most certainly drench them.

ok, SuperHighTechAquaAvoidancShields up! Rest the handle over your shoulder, to protect the back. You can even spin them 'Singin in the Rain style if you wish.

*thinks*

you know its a real pity that the aim of this is to stay the driest one. I really like being rained on.

Your robot reminds me of you. You tell it to turn it stops. You tell it to stop it turns. You ask it to take out the garbage it watches reruns of Firefly.

Clever girl. Whatever shall I do now?

"I have been here many times before In a life I used to live
But I have never seen these streets so fresh Washed with morning rain
I have seen this face a thousand times Every morning of my life
But I never saw these eyes so clear Free of doubt and pain
Like the whole world has been made again."

Well you could call time out and wander over to the rain preserve that we just took delivery on. It has oaks and elms and willows that people can huddle under when the rain is the heaviest and that drip water down after the main storm has passed and some gentle creeks that get all muddy and swirly and are perfect for stomping through with galoshes on.
