Absolutely! I know several people who call ethemselves "Jew-witch" and besides, Catholocism is ALMOST ENTIRELY BASED on Pagan rituals and beliefs.

Ever been to a Catholic funeral? Ever notice how at the end the priest walks around the coffin counter-clockwise three times while swinging the incense and stopping at the four quarters on each pass? Ever wonder why? It's all Pagan.

Ever wonder how the date of Easter is calculated each year? It's the first Sunday following the first Full Moon following the Vernal Equinox. If that isn't a Pagan way of calculating a date, I don't know what is!

Dunno about anyone else, but I try to make my rituals short and sweet!
And I might remind you that Catholics in fact burned Pagans.
But I suppose that was awhile ago.

*edit* yes, they stole all our rituals and then burned us!
I'm sorry, FMF. Nothing against you...

Isn't the Land of Nod located "to the east of Eden" and the place that Cain was banished to after murdering his brother Abel?

Are you sure you really want to go there?

OK, Forsaken, we may have to mount a rescue mission if we ever want to get PhoenixRose back again. It could be much like the time Niska took Wash and Mal to his space station!

I have been reading over the "Imponderables" threads since meeting Tristan the other day, and I had a thought:

I was impressed with the back-link at the beginning of each thread, and wondered if we could do the same here. Is it possible to reverse-engineer the links to go back to the first level and read all the way through, if someone should want to do it? Just curious.

So who is he?

Yay! You did it! I was just wondering if it was possible to link back to the older threads in case some one wanted to read them, since every time I go to my profile, it only shows the last few entries I have made to threads on the site. I got the idea from looking over the imponderables threads, since Tristan links to the previous thread at the beginning of each new one.

Yeah, I think the Loafer's Nook does that too, I just didn't think about it. I mean, these are some looooong threads and I don't know who would want to go read them all.
But hey, if they do then there they are! At least there's the explination of out formation liberally scattered through them.
I went back to number three, which was the first one I started, and put in the links. Should be easy to follow if so desired.
Yay! and hugs to pdcharles for hunting down all the links for me!

Shiny!

I read through about three of the Imponderables threads because I wanted to get an idea of where everone was coming from before I tried to post anything there. I am still about 1 1/2 threads away from the current end, so hopefully I will catch up to it tomorrow. Lots of info, but I'll just say it this way: Y'all are all some of the shiniest people I have ever "met", and if there was a way to clone you all, the world would be a better place.

And much nicer to look at, too! (did I write that out loud?)

By the way, Tristan, we had talked about getting together in August. I am going to be off for vacation the 7th-11th, and am using it to work around the house some(after all, since I have officially moved, it might be nice to unpack some of the boxes). Do we want to try for sometime that week, or do you think we need more time to plan? Just wondering.

OOoo, it's 3:30 in the morning and 84 degrees in my house. Only 5 more hours till my AC guy shows up to fix it! I probably should go to bed sometime tonight, if only I didn't feel like one of those hamburgers under the lights with all this heat.

Wandered off, and kinda forgot to answer FMF - sorry.

I live in a place called Cheltenham, West of England.

It would be a lot shinier if there were other Browncoats around. But there's just me.

I'm a 'hedge-witch'. Individualistic types who don't answer surveys, or form groups or covens, or have any kind of set rituals. We do our own thing, quietly. (I studied history - it kinda puts you off religion, politics, and occasionally people.)

Don't belong to anything - not a natural joiner, and I don't play well with others.

Oddest thing happened to me a while back - I was at a work convention thing, and the woman at the door (never met her, didn't know her) said 'hello' to everyone else, and then with me, she said 'blessed be', and I don't think she really registered doing it. (I was dressed in neat work clothes, like everyone else, so maybe I have a spooky vibe.)

CHRISISALL
"This message brought to you courtesy of the Eyes Only Informant Net." Sunday, May 21, 2006 - 11:45

I found a copy of the Forsaken Mission Statement!

"We, The Forsaken find these truths to be self-evident:
If you do not think before you speak, speak not.
Nonsense will be taken as...nonsense.
Ideas on God will be shared, and never be assumed as absolute truth, only God can speak for God concerning absolutes.
Religious and political zealots will be shown the quickest way to the cargo bay in time for the decompression.
Serenity will fly again, and we will see it.
We aim to be disliked by as many d**ks and fools as possible; pissing off a**holes is the Lords work."

It was an old, tattered copy, I think parts of it were missing...
Anyone know the balance of the text?

G'mornin, people (and you non-people also),

I just got into work about an hour late, I've got a ton of stuff in my in box, and what's the very first thing I do? Check in with the Forsaken. Go figure...

Someone was asking how to post a picture in a normal thread, and that's easy enough to explain.

First, it has to be on the web somewhere. If you have a picture on your computer you need to upload it somewhere first. I usually use www.PhotoBucket.com They are a free hosting service, and very easy to use.

Once it's on the web, RIGHT-CLICK on it and select PROPERTIES from the pop-up menu. You will then see its location or URL (Universal Resource Locator). Copy this into a message and viola! The picture shows up.

For example purposes I've put spaces in so it won't actually show up as a picture...

http: // www . fireflyfans . net / random / 7.jpg

becomes

Go ahead and right click the picture above, select Properties, and find the URL. You'll understand it better once you do.
