Shaolin Pool
The Shaolin masters of east and west must unite, play pool and find out who is number one.

I had what can only be described as a moment of clarity yesterday. I've decided to put together a showreel, leave my job and try to find work as a 3D animator in either the film/TV or games industries.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

That's the ticket!

It's been really beautiful today. (It's 32C here, but it's been okay..) I've actually enjoyed myself.

So much so, that I'm calling out the Sun God! Yup! I hear that it's gonna be at least 37C tomorrow. I think the Sun God's bluffing. I don't think that they're doing their job properly, and it's all talk. Yup, it's just propaganda... The Sun God is all out of nice hot rays. It's used up its ray quota.

I LOVE the sun.

But, I have to admit. It was over 100 today and it was just too hot for my afternoon walk. So,I skipped it.

I was only failing to be funny. I like the sun, when it's not generating opressive heat, and it's mostly obscured by clouds. cause the going blind because "they booby trapped their sun somehow." not so fun.
I didn't get much sun. I was covered. Pale skin in nice. well not too pale, but too tan is bad.

don't panic LMD, I'm just now getting around to (hopefully) using my degree. and you and Sean can chat at D*C about it. I'm a greative type with no artistic ability, with the possible exception for words when the mood is right. We should make a Firefly game. Not one of those crap MMOs either. Final Fantasy style. Start with Mal and Zoe, add Jayne etc. collect the whole crew. get Serenity, pick the best crew for the different jobs. Random encouters with other thieves/reavers. Could be fun.

What!, you've never played a Final Fantasy? and you want to create games?
*makes the sign of the cross and whispers Blasphemy under his breath.*
No, I mean like in FFVII where you have to find the rest of the team. then from the ship you pick who is going where. Like a Captain should.
I just hate the concept of MMOs. Here buy this. Great. Now that you own it, you can do whatever you want with it.....except actually play it. If you wanna do that you have to pay more. each month you want to play. Doesn't work for me. I've loved all of the Final Fantasy games, but I didn't touch XI because it was online MMO.

The final fantasies never did it for me. I like FPS and strategies some racing games and not much besides. I don't play games as much as I should really; never seem to have the time.

I tried the Ultima Online MMO once, the paying thing didn't worry me, since I was on a free server, what bothered me was how BORING they are. In order to do anything cool and actually interesting you have to increase your stats, to do that you have sit for HOURS chopping wood, digging stone, killing rabbits...

If I wanted to do such mind numbingly boring chores I WOULDN'T be playing a damn computer game. I'd be having myself psychoanalysed; which to be fair I probably should do anyway, but what do psychiatrists know anyway?

I'm leaning more toward doing film than game, film lets you put more detail in and IMHO is easier, since you're not aiming for models that are as realistic as possible but will render in real-time, just models that are as realistic as possible.

Personally I find that easier and less restrictive.

Film does seem the better way to go. I always wanted to write/direct a film, or series of them. Good RPGs still have you consistantly build, but do so with more interesting story based actions. FPSs can be great, loved the old wolfenstien series and Half-life 1&2. Also like Castlevania style games. Racing doesn't do much for me consistantly, I can be amused by them briefly.
And psychiatrists know lots of stuff. They just share enough to keep you coming back.
So, you wanna work on my movie?

Well, I have nothing written. I have one 'semi-original' idea. But it was kinda destroyed when someone else somehow used it first but completely differently than I had planned out for years. I also have a series of books I'd like to turn into a series of movies. But that might not work either thanks to someone wasting film on another project. Really everything is in my head, It'll never happen.

I thought of "sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't." but decided NOT to post it as it is very naughty.

I have developed a love for this fair trade chocolate we sell at church. My favourite, for some reason, is the milk chocolate. Usually I prefer dark. But it has a hazelnutty flavour, which is I think why. I love hazelnuts.
