Shes Swiss! Quick get her!

Down with Neutral countries!

Just to clarify:
Apple Pie is English (first made in the 1300's)
Baseball is Rounders
M&Ms orginally were imported from England, they were called Smarties.

Citizen, credit where credits due, only the Americans could look at a smartie and think about peanut butter.

However, the americans did give us um... Disney world, westerns, fruit roll-ups, many useful machines, velcro (i think) Christian Bale and....

Okay, so maybe we didn't invent the apple pie, but we most certainly perfected it.

Or, at least I have. The apple cranberry pie I made last Thanksgiving was nothing short of divine.

I'm still amazed at the fitting of everything into a backpack...heck, with everything the wife and I are bringing, it's going to take two cars to tote it all...

My current theory is that LMD has a shrink ray gun.

He should share his space age technology with the rest of us! A shrink ray gun would be really useful.

They're testing the alarm system. It's very loud.

Doesn't help that one of the keypads is right above my desk.

Me, too!

My college roommate freshman year managed to SLEEP through fire alarms even though they made these ear piercing sounds. I couldn't wake her.

The same gorram roommate who would be up till 2am on the phone with her fiance and then complain when I had to get up at 6am for my stupid music theory classes.

We had a fire alarm at the building I worked at one day. I asked the person running the drills how realistic they wanted the drill because in a real emergency I would be running through the hall screaming, "We're all going to die," at the top of my lungs. He was not amused.

Man enters shop, John Cleese is behind the desk.

Man: I'd like to buy a fire alarm.

Cleese: Yes sir we have a wide selection, we've got the Ghandi alarm that's very popular.

Ghandi Alarm: No fire can hurt me without my permission.

Cleese: Or the Mr T Alarm

Mr T Alarm: I pity the fool who doesn't escape this fire!

we were all pissed off in work today and got very close to tripping the fire alarms so we could all have a nice lie down in the shop without thousands of children screaming hissy fitting, whining fighting and playing the instruments very badly but with much gusto at top volume.

Yes, even the WeeeeeewaaaaaaaWeeeeeeeeeeWaaaaaaaaweeeeeeeeewaaaaaaaaa... is infinitly preferable to small children.

But sadly, like the plans to sell them to the circuss or clingfilm them to the hearest tree, that idea had to be shelved for the legal technicalities.

If we had a fire alarm for our building, we'd have the two language setting - english for the few visitors we get who understand it and the staff, and scouse for the rest - something along the lines of 'ee luv, grab wat yer can theres a fire, got any spare change? gis a fag...'

(er, fag as in brit slang for cigarette, not yank slang for homosexual)

But you know what? I'm going to stop moaning about that place now, as, fantastically, bar my boss being a b****, i don't have to go back in now until after D*C, so i can now devote all my energy to packing, finishing stuff and getting very very happy and excited!

As some people may be aware the city of Chicago has a professional soccer team. That team is called 'The Chicago Fire' playing on perhaps the most important event of our reasonably young city's life - the great fire of 1871. This was a very important event not because of the fire so much as the rebuilding afterward. Anyway I was sitting in the stands the other day watching the team win a game for a change when I started wondering how they would word the announcement if the stadium they play in actually was on fire. If they just shout, 'fire,' of course everybody is just going to assume they are trying to start a cheer. It's a conundrum.

MATTIE

*Mattie begins to stir on the comfy green couch
slowly opens her eyes and then sits bolt upright*

Where is everybody?

*A glance around tells her that the floor is deserted. Over at the bar JH has left on an undercabinet light which casts an eerie flourescent light around the room. Mattie shudders.*

Hello?

*silence*

*steeling her courage Mattie takes a deep breath and gets up off the couch. Glancing about the room for a light switch, something catches her eye. Looking around again Mattie notices a piece of paper and a pen sitting on the otherwise empty bar. A note! Glancing one more time over her shoulder Mattie walks over and picks up the note.*

To the Lump on the Couch and to Whomever Else it May Concern:
If you're reading this note that means you're probably pretty lonely here in our hidey tower because we're off to D*C! Feel free to come and go as you please, but as long as your here...
The fish need food and the plants usually get watered every other day or so.
Thanks! See you in a week!
The Hidey Tower Inhabitants

Mass exodous and I missed it!

*After finding a light switch Mattie obediently feeds the fish (?) and waters the plants (?). Looking around she realizes that she doesn't like the large space all lit up. Things were much nicer when she was sleeping. So, she turns off the big overhead lights and runs over to the couch. Quick as a bunny she jumps onto it and settles herself under her blanket.*

I'll hold down the fort while everyone is gone

*And with that, Mattie curls up, closes her eyes and falls fast asleep once again.*

Wacky fun!
