Nothing wrong with wanting someone who cares for you like you care for them. That's why I want a Wash

And pssssst, everyone, Sabri3l has really intense, pretty green eyes! Any eye-men out there?

Ahhhhh, yes, living on fruit. I've done that, though I've been in the mood for more protein the last week or so. Still drinking fresh juice like water. Mmmmmmmmmm....

As for protein, I made some delicious fried tofu the other day.

And dates! I'm currently mildly obsessed with dates!

Isn't that what we're all here for?

Tofu isn't really solid enough for me. I demand turkey or beef! Without additives or weirdness, so I spend quite a bit for it, but hey you get what you pay for.

Missed this in the shuffle. Guess that's all right then In my somewhat limited experience, Firefly is way more fun that WoW anyway.
Plus you can cuddle more when watching Firefly

Sorry I been gone. Got busy at work.....

Anyways,
I used to be a Wash. Man, I remember this one girl I dated that I traveled 85 miles south every weekend to her college to spend it with her. I loved those days..... I miss them whenever I think about her. I'm prolly a little bit too sentimental.

I'm probably more like Book now... kind of a loner and not exactly proud of things I've done in the past, with a dendency to preach a lot, but there to lend an ear for whoever needs it. I probably have a tendency to annoy people with my thoughts as I sometimes think I know it all, having been through much of it.

I think I have a whole lot of Mal and Jayne in me too. Anybody who's read my other posts in here (I get a little intense some times), know where I stand with the Alliance. I've actually gotten stabbed in the back (literally... with a kitchen knife) at a party for standing up for the girl who's parents owned the house. I didn't really even know her, she was my friend's girlfriend. (Which is probably one of the big reasons I've become a bit of a loner and have distanced myself from a lot of my past... even all the fun times)

I'm sure if I met the right girl than she can bring the Wash back out. He's just hiding for a while. Life hasn't been to kind to 'em.

I'm probably not prone to travelling to far from home at this point in my life. The few family members I still talk to and my small friend base means too much to me... but I change my mind constantly..... who knows what I'll be thinking tomorrow. I'm pretty lonely at night, but I think part of me likes that and finds it to be inspiring.

Indeed, although I've to try that, given that the only people I've watched Firefly with wouldn't be too impressed if I tried cuddling them, nor would their girlfriends. So for now I'll be happy with just being able to watch Firefly at all.

Ha, comparing selves to characters - i've been told recently that i'm Elizabeth Bennet (of Pride&Prejudice fame) crossed with Yosaffbridge.

how does that work?

anyway, the reason for posting, considering moving to Southampton (south coast of England) next year to do an MA, any Browncoats in the area?

There will be Browncoats aplenty. There are big groups in the north in Leeds and, of course, in London, but we are starting up in Oxford and if you put a shoult out on http://www.cantstopthesignal.co.uk/ you are bound to find some in Southampton (it's a good Uni!).

Anyway, as I'm not single I'll slink off now and hide...

Just gonna jump right back into this singles thread - strange, since I don't usually identify myself as single. Whether I'm dating someone or not has never really been part of how I identify myself until recently. Odd?

So first my personal plug: 24, female, in Atlanta. Brown hair, grey eyes, 5'5"... Seeks smart guy, friendly and open (because I'm a little shy) to go on adventures with. C'mon, anyone? I'm not THAT hideous! And if we get along, I'll even invite you to come travel with me next summer

Ok, now an imponderable. Sort of. My very good friend, probably my best friend down here, just started dating someone. I despise her. I seethe when I have to be around her. She is everything that I do not like in people. It is hard enough that my friend now has someone to occupy her every free moment, leaving me a little more lonely, but what's worse is that even when I AM invited to hang out with them I don't want to. I just sit there, staring at this girl, thinking "what in the name of god and all his wacky nephews does she see in her?!"

I really just needed to vent, but if someone has some suggestions on temporary coping mechanisms (because really, their relationship will not last long) it would do me good :)

I'm very smart.

TRISTAN

Whoa. This took off! I haven't been paying much attention to it...glad to see people posting!

I'l give my 'vitals' again:
35 male, divorce will be final on the 22nd of Oct (yee-hah!). I live in Anniston, Alabama (1hr East of Birmingham, 2hrs West of Atlanta). The quizzes put me as a Mal, which makes me happy. I am tired of games, and am looking for a Browncoat. Age does not really matter too much to me, but maturity does. I am an armorer (Medieval; research and construction), a costumer, and a fighter. I am not a follower of any type of sport (though I do enjoy the ocassional hockey game), so I won't be propped up in front of the TV on Sundays.
I look for intelligence, a sense of humor, a willingness to try new things, and a love for life in people. I am an eye and back man (kinda like Wash in that respect! ). I am just looking for someone to spend time with, and someone I can talk to about any subject.

Right at the moment, I am enjoying my singlehood...over the weekend, the ex and all her stuff were finally moved out, so the house is all mine. That's taking a bit of getting used to...it's a relatively large house, and I've been rattling around it all day cleaning and rearranging. I am also the only Browncoat in my immediate area, which sucks. I really do think it's important that I do find someone who loves the show as much as I do. I think of myself as intelligent and witty, but I am not by any means a social butterfly. My idea of a good time is working on a project; either armoring or sewing. But, I do enjoy going out every now and then, and I love curling up on a sofa to watch a movie.

So, having rambled on longer than necessary, I'll quit now. It's good to see that there are others out there. Here's to all of us finding a match!

Oh, my direct email is tristan71@cableone.net. I love email of any kind, even just a "hello!".

Tristan, it must feel good to have the house cleaned. Getting rid of stuff and emotional baggage is a good thing. If the house gets too big and lonely, you know that we are all here. Lets see here...

Single? Yup... have been for a while now

Sex? "been a long, long time since anyone but me grab 'hold of my plow..."
oh wait... the correct answer is: male.

=-p

Location? Oklahoma City (or close enough to say so)

Body Type? Well i don't like to describe myself... kind of makes me feel... cheap... and its too easy to 'accidentally' give someone wrong info when your describing yourself...

....so for any of you who'd be intersted in actual pictures of me, your more then welcome to check a few pages where i do have pictures. (as well as more personal info about me)

www.almostsmart.com (i'm cloud nine)
www.myspace.com/j420
http://profiles/yahoo.com/i_cloud_nine_i

lets see, personally... i'd say i'm

36% wash - cool, calm & collected while still suave and (as wash would put it) "a large, semi-muscular man... i can take it"

34% jayne - no bullshit, dead-pan humor and fight to protect whats mine, sometimes i may seem a little crude but i mean well

30% river - intelligence with a touch of insanity... and i can kill you with my brain (or atleast enough random information to make you wish you'd stop breathing)

...if you couldn't tell, this post was 50% humor, 50% serious.

Man - I have been remiss in following this thread - these threads - just wanted to share my quiz results...

I did another quiz once - on MySpace I think... but I stumbled accross it and didn't bookmark it - for that one I got 94% Kaylee...

This first one I got ... guess what? 94% Kaylee...

Then the 2nd one I got (anyone want to take a guess at this one?) ... well I only got 85% Kaylee but I'm starting to see a pattern here...

Oh & for the other characters I got:
85% Kaylee
80% Book!?
70%Simon Tam
60% Mal Reynolds
55% for both Zoe & River
& only 45% Inara... (damn! I must be losing my indefinable allure... but it's that question about using sex to get things I suppose - I just can't stand that sort of behaviour)
25% Jayne
25% Reaver
20% Alliance... so I guess I'm a browncoat at heart!!

Hey - this is shiny!!

Love all you gorgeous single browncoats... why are we all single again?

Oh that's right - none of us live anywhere near each other do we... *sigh*

TDBROWN

Hi... I posted on the other Singles thread, not knowing that most of you had moved on to this one. So... here's my post from the other thread, since it's easier than starting from scratch:
***************
Hi... just thought I'd drop in and admit to my singleness.

I'm Tim, and I live in Bloomington, Indiana. If my screen name looks familiar, it's because I started the Anniversary Job movement and gave a boost to the Big Damned Thank You folks (several of whom are on my crew at Serenitymovie.org, the Slightly Irregular Browncoats). For an immature Browncoat, I've got a few years on me. I'm 52, and it shocks me every time I think of that. I act younger than a lot of folks I know in their late 20s and early 30s!

I became a Browncoat in a strange and sad way. In 2005, my marriage came to an end. My now-ex asked for a Divorce in May, but we didn't file until October. September 30th was supposed to be our 10th Wedding Anniversary. She never came home from work that day, choosing to go to a friend's house. So there I was; my Anniversary, and in my house all alone.

I decided to go see a Movie.

Instead, I found Serenity. And through Serenity, I rediscovered my sense of family, and I now HAVE a family. A family made up of thousands of people who share the same Love and passion that I do: The Love of the Serenifly 'Verse.

There is still an empty spot in my life, though. I freely admit that I've been married *cough* Three times . Each time, I hoped to find True Love and raise a family. Twice I was a Step-dad, and really enjoyed it. My step-children still keep in contact, though gradually less as time goes by. This is as it should be I suppose, 'though I still get called "Dad" when they do call . I have no children of my own, darn it, and I suppose it's late in the game. I DO adore kids, though, so I'm open to all possibilities!

I own my own home, 3 bedrooms, two empty. I live about 2 miles outside of Bloomington, which is a very pretty College Town. I've held a job at GE, building Refrigerators, for 18 years now. I have a BA in Anthropology from Indiana University, and I also write songs, especially lyrics. I dabble in fossil collecting, am a former Museum Curator, and occasionally go on caving expeditions, exploring local caves and sinkholes.
Specialization is for insects lol.

I've enjoyed reading this thread, and look forward to reading a lot more TD/Tim
*********************************

So... that's me. I also posted an answer to VerseExplorer's question about whether I'd ever been to any Anthropological-type Sites. In typical "me" fashion, I replied with a Novel . It's still there if you wanna read it, V.

TD/Tim

ps: Only test I took, I was 66% Kaylee. Not as unsettling to me as you might think lol. She's good people, with the most HEART of anyone in or out of Fiction

pps: Tristan, I know full-well about empty houses. Mine still is, except for about 50 boxes of Her stuff. It's been a year since she moved out, and she has agreed that it's mine now. Can you say "Yard Sale"? lol

Hi Tim...

Well, if I weren't on the other side of the world I'd look you up for sure! But as I said in my above post... *sigh* It does seem that the single browncoats are the most awesome folk in the 'verse and that it is a bit criminal that we're all unattached and living on 'different planets' ... doesn't it?

I am loving that there are more folk from Australia on FFF.net these days - means I actually have someone to talk with when you're all asleep in the States...

And did I share my Firefly discoverey story?

I was house-sitting for a friend (as I do) and she has the complete series - being a fellow Buffy/Angel fan she kept telling me about Firefly but I kept resisting and thinking 'why would I want to get involved in a story that I will never get to hear the end of? One evening, however, I was not quite tired enough to go to bed & thought it couldn't hurt to put this DVD on... I was in love at the words... "I love my Captain!" - Ironically I feel that these are some of the most 'real' folk in the 'verse and the whole Sci Fi angle is just window dressing! ... maybe this is why we browncoats are such awesome folk?

Anyway - I watched from Serenity (pilot) straight through to Shindig without pausing - then at 2.30am I went to the computer and googled 'Firefly' and found my home here - of course I was welcomed with open arms and haven't left!! I honestly don't know what I will do if I have a house-sitting job without internet access!!!

Love you all Browncoat singles!! - Magda x x x

TCBrown, pleasure to make your acquaintance!
I'm getting very used to having the house to myself...it's actually quite nice not to have to deal with another person. We did manage to get almost all of her stuff out...I'm still finding bits and pieces here and there, though...boxing them up for delivery.
A yard sale sounds like a good idea!

It's good to hear from a Pom on here! You will have to pop over to the current picture thread and post one of your pics there... or here - if you like!

Hope it isn't getting too cold, too quickly after your long hot summer!

Tristan - I'm ready!

I've gone 3 weeks without smoking. The physical need is gone, but occasionally there is a psychological one :P I did it for roller derby so I'd have more endurance, and i just got sick of it...

I used to quit smoking at least 10 times a day. I've learned to embrace them. If I didn't smoke, I would be on some kind of pill or I would die a stress related death before I was 50 anyhow. I feel that smoking increases life expectancy for many who have a tendancy to be high strung and refuse to go on pills and take the mindless way out.

I don't care who doesn't like it. You all have habits that I would probably find annoying too.

I just tend to find i support people in giving up for selfish reasons, It means I can hang around with them with out crying my way through it, as the smoke tends to irritate my eyes.

Plus, it don't smell great.

Actually Mark, I now have a very funny image in my head of you popping valium around a dinner table with a bunch of stretched & stitched hollywood wives.

Wow, that little pink boucle number really suits you.

So when are you going to start smoking so you can get used to the smoke before I come out there?
