Well, if you can't be nerdy here then I don't know where you can. Except a library. Only then you've got to be mouse quiet nerdy and that's just no fun.

I don't know which one to choose. There are so many! I don't want to be someone icky or evil, but from the looks of it maybe they all had a bit of that. Which one was the goddess of chocolate? or dessert or sugar ... the junk food goddess? cause that would be cool.

I just thought you'd like Hecate for the ghosts stuff, and carrying two torches wouldn't be too hard to pull off. We could find those things with the little lights and the fans that blow the strips of paper so they look like fire.
I didn't know about the spiteful bits, I don't think of you that way. I think you're right though, If you dig deep enough you can likey find something that someone would consider icky about each of them.
I'll look into the Goddess of chocolate and sweets, cause that would fit. 'Less it's Dark Chocolate.

so based on the way the guys from that quote were talking -

"that celebrate the gods and goddesses of love and luxury, joy and happiness, compassion,
peace and serenity, healing, and fertility of the body and imagination."

I think you're back at Aphrodite, maybe, really, its kind of a mixture of all the god and goddesses in the Greek canon, so why don't you go with Gaia?

In her indina incarnation - http://www.chocolatedeities.com/about.php?deity=devi

and Greek, though thats not such a fun description, you'd have to see what the theoi site says - http://www.godchecker.com/pantheon/greek-mythology.php?deity=GAIA

Seryn-don't mind me, I'm just in my nerdy element, 'tis all! Mythology makes me go all tingly and wiggly inside, like languages and chocolate do.

Last night, I was cutting up a pomegranate (they were on sale last week at the store!!) My cousin had never had one, so I was letting him try it, and as I was popping all the seeds out, I told him the story of Persephone, because he didn't know it. He loved the pomegranate. We were eating seeds like candy. YUM!

Mai: I LOVE libraries. All those books! And the smell. It's sexy. I worked at a library once. I liked being around the books. I didn't like the mean librarians and the leering man with the comb-over who ran the place, but I liked being around the books.

Not sure why but I feel there's a negative connotation attached to Morpheus (not that i mind negative, as i am rather so). I've always liked Hephaestus since I first became interested in Greek mythology around 5th grade. I feel I relate to him in some strange fashion.

Well, you're the only one that can chose the god that you like best. So, read up on them. There's SO many! And then you chose. It'll be FUN!

I feel bad for Hephaestos. He was obviously a hard worker. He made Zeus' thunderbolts and most everybody else's weapons. He is said to have had a nasty temper, though. But can you blame him? His wife slept with half of Asia Minor!

only half of it?

Have you seen The Adventures of Baron Munchausen?

Its a great film, and its got the roman versions of Aphrodite and Hephaistos in there, and he's played by Oliver Reed i think, but its so funny, he's showing them through his domain, and theres nuclear warheads in there and everything, he's just showing them off like a car sales man who not quite sure if he actually likes cars after all.

But its a great film, you should watch it if you haven't already.

I'f its anymore enticement, Uma Thurman plays Aphrodite/Venus.

Robin Williams and Eric Idle. And Uma made a very nice venus at the time, she lost whatever it was she had then though.

I love libraries too. I was just saying that you have to be a fairly quiet nerd mood to hang out there. I personally could sit in the public library all day long and relax (the college library not so much!) However, when you have the urge to be lerdy (loud and nerdy) this is probably the best place for it. :P

that was fun!

I'm completely obsessed with Doctor Who now, so don't mind me. David Tennant is a hottie!

It's pretty and shiny and there are been many bumps today, but I've got about 60 songs on it (including my Firefly CD) and that makes me happy. For now. My CDRom drive seems to have gone KAPUT.

Bones has more going for it than just Boreanaz. Ie, a fine supporting cast and a somewhat fluffier take on the CSI ouvre; perhaps not as smart but also not quite so grim as the CSIs.

i wasn't a big fan, until i saw an interview with him, and after the morose and almost statue like angel David himself was brilliant - energetic and all over the place with a wicked sense of humor, he ran rings around the muppet interviewing him, very clever and witty.

And in Bones he just seems cuter somehow.

it does have a lot of good points, i just can't help thinking that they could have made better use of some stories from the books and not been quite so cheesy sometimes - but the group she has are brilliant, in the books she just has her boss and some french canadian guy, Zack and the others are brilliant. (though the Seely character in the books is a total rogue, and theres no, ahem, professional distance - makes it a bit different)

OOH! *Sets up the chocolate fondue thingy and gets the chocolate flowing nicely*

There's a restaurant here called the Melting Pot (I don't know if it's a chain or anything). This restaurant has mastered the art of fondue--it's totally fantastic. My favorite, though, is dessert. They have, like, six or seven different types of chocolate fondue you can choose from, and they bring out a platter with different types of things to chocolate fondue such as: pineapple, bananas, marshmallows, pound cake, strawberries (yum!) and a slice of cheesecake. Oh... SOOO good!

And, JH, I won't be able to get to D*C '07 cuz, well, I'm going to be serving an LDS mission and I'm pretty sure that sci-fi conventions are out.
