It's odd. Very surreal and very heavy but with moments of humor (mostly dark.) Take this with a grain of salt because I never finished watching it (Netflix sent it to me when I wasn't in the proper mood for it) but check it out. It's a deep flick about the philosophy of identity and the ethics of manipulation. So make sure the brain is fully engaged before viewing.

I went to the Post office to send your box off this morning. You're going to have to wait for awhile because postage was going to cost £69 (~$130) so I'm going to put it all into several smaller boxes, because apparently that'll work out cheaper.

I'm dissapointed in my brother. He was going to join the Navy, but instead he's decided to become a white hat-ed ponce. Bloody Chefs. Apparently he is nice enough but a complete tit, so my brother tells me. I asked why he didn't poison his food. See, I was picturing more the "Being John Malcovich" thing... Pull the emergancy stop on the elevator whilst between floors, and pry the doors open to find the secret hidden floor. There was also last episode of Smallville, floor 33.1, I believe (appropriate), but that was just swiping a keycard in the elevator on the way up. Lex's evil experiments. Real-Time-Strategy game. Age of Empires, Empire Earth, Warhammer: Dawn of War, Rise of Nations and many others.

Games where you control a civilisation, it's economy and military against others. Like AoE 3 set in colonial America where you construct a colony and fight other nations for control.

Personally I just killed the French and the Spanish. Stupid little fat idiot Napolean attacked me. My Red Coats destroying his entire colony probably persuaded him that that was a bad idea.

I'd welcome your opinion.

I was thinking of something of quite grand scale. Most RTS games are set on small areas and specific objectives, so I was thinking of something with the scale of Civilisation, where a map can encompass the entire world, and on a giant scale (so travelling from one end of the world to the other can take ten minutes in game time).

The game would take place in a time period from pre-ancient to medieval (maybe later, depending).

In a lot of ways it would be similar to Rise of Nations, you'd build cities and those would define your nations borders, as well as natural obstacles such as Oceans, Rivers and mountain ranges. You'd also be able to conquer other nations cities and take control of them, and all the units that have that city as 'home' would join your side, but they'd still hold an allegiance to their original nation for a time, and a small percentage would become an underground militia, so you'd still have to use troops to keep the peace and fight the underground movement even after the entire nation has fallen. I'd also have an armies effectiveness affected by things like moral and fatigue, so that an army that has won every battle will be more effective than one that has lost every battle, or that has less to fight for, or an army that has marched a long way and/or recently fought would be less effective than a fresh one. Also an army would include healers that can be set up as hospital tents so that injured units can be healed during battle.

Also to enforce a proper idea of logistics and improve in game trade, supply lines and allow siege warfare resources would be local rather than global. When peons collect resource they'd dump them into a cache and have to collect them from there before they can be used. So if you construct a building that needs timber, a peon would collect the timber from a forest and dump it in a timber mill, then the builders would collect the timber from the timber mill and take it to the build site. In a similar way units would consume food (rather than requiring food to produce) and would have to periodically pick this food up from granaries, supply carts or the environment, or they start to grow ill and eventually die. Also famine and so on could cause riots, civil unrest and cities seceding from your nation.

Because of this trade would actually have a real in game purpose (rather than just being a means to generate gold like in AoE). If city A can get food but not wood and city B can get Wood but not food they can trade their excess for what they need. I'd have a different idea for resources as well, I was think Gold, Stone, Wood and Food. Resources would be infinite or sustainable (i.e. If you chop down all the trees in a forest they're gone, but if you let the forest repopulate itself every now and again they'd be infinite). Gold would probably be infinite, but there would be few mines, likewise with stone, Wood would be sustainable and Food would be both sustainable and infinite depending on how you collected it.

For nations rather than choosing the nation (like Britain, Spain, America etc) your nations attributes and personality would depend on your environment. So if you started in a cold climate you're nation would construct small closed buildings, easy to keep warm, if a more Mediterranean environment you can expect to build open cool buildings. Similarly a nation from a cold climate would have an advantage over a Mediterranean nation in a cold climate, technologically and physically, and vice versa.

I was thinking of a basic facility to create custom units, helping to give a non fixed more dynamic research structure, for instance a trade cart may be driven by horses, but by replacing the horses with oxen you'd get a slower cart capable of carrying more weight.

Because there's obviously a lot of micromanagement here, possibly to much for anyone to handle if your empire gets to be of any size, there would be the facility to add AI helpers, Mayors to run your cities, Generals to run armies, Admirals for Navies, that will micromanage while you do other things, but that the player can remove or supersede at any time.

I've actually got a lot more (been thinking about this for quite sometime) but the post is long enough and those are the major features.

Not that I ever have the patience to play these things, but it sound's good.

Ok, Elemdee! Shopping today, the supermarket had in little packs of Ritter chocolates, like packs of 12 mini-bars (which, considering the each mini bar is about half a dairy milks worth, is quite a lot of chocolate!), I got you the yoghurt pack and the mixed nougat/praline/yoghurt pack.

They also had one with cornflake crispy bits/mint/caramel/whateverelse it was that I can't remember in, that I could go back and get.

Seeing as I woefully underestimated postage costs, i'll have to wait a little to send them, but in the mean time, I need an address.

Talking of addresses, any one as wants a christams card this year (and i've been convinced by my sister to try making my own, so they are worth getting just for laugh's) need's to send me their's.

As far as RTS go, I've played all the Warcrafts and Starcraft (<-still the king based on what i've played, which is admittedly not much). I've also played the first two AoE. I really enjoy the games, but I get my ass handed to me so soundly in online games that I don't play them as much as FPS or MMOs (not that I've played much of either, lately).

-edit- I could never really get into the Civilization games...but I think it's that I can't stand the turn based strategy games. I really, really suck at them, haha. Either way,

I've decided to focus on doing 3D work for now, so I think my gaming is going to be cut way back (not that i game a lot as it is).
