JQ, I think so...I was just trying to cover for the fact that I had completely forgotten about Highlander... But, ya caught me out!

MSG, the type of shopping you are talking about...not a fan of it myself, so I can't help with this one.

*checks tote board and sees MsG and MsQ still neck and neck in similarities. Ah, but notes disparaging remark about antiquing: point off, MsG.*

I'm still mulling the One. We've quoted Destiny on the one hand and Statistics on the other. I say if destiny has the power to declare you have a One out there for you (statistically, you should have thousands if not millions because the human condition is not as varied as we'd all like to believe), it has the power to put them in arms' reach. If not, then it's not much of a destiny, is it?

The second point is this. Why do we always attach forever to the concept of the One? Perhaps the One has a shelf-life where you are concerned (touches lightly on the "divorce" side of the coin). If destiny declares that the One you have in high school is only good for those four years because that is as much as you will ever get out of it, what's wrong with that? If I hadn't had "bad" relationships to learn from in the past, I might not be as "good" as I am now. But if I didn't learn from my "good" relationships (hmm, were there any? must rethink this...), how "good" could I really become? I believe you can have many "Ones" over time. That's why time keeps moving: to make room for the new.

*Pauses loudly and looks around the room*

Did any of that even make any sense?

"Well, here I am...Does that seem right to you?"

I really like that "shelf-life" theory, JQ.
The rest made prefect sense to me. Thank you for that.

JQ that made so complete sense I agree 100% nay 200%.

I'm not really one for shopping, I also dont see the point in spending so much time on stuff that you're not going to get. I'm definitely one of those in and out shoppers.

remember that a kick in the ass is a step forward

Tristan (et all) - Here's how it was:

Showed up Friday afternoon in the town of Charlottesville, VA for the Jefferson Thanksgiving Festival. My friend and I were the first re-enactors to arrive. You can go to http://www.jeffersonthanksgiving.org/ for info on the festival in it's entirety. If you click on "participants", I fought under the Maryland Loyalist Battalion.

It was effing cold down there, but we managed to get through two nights with nothing but 18th century equipment. I was actually told that while on campaign, soldiers back then would not get to sleep in tents normally like we were doing. That made me feel sad for them. Saturday was the only real "event" day. We marched around the downtown area, and I was surprised to see so many of the townsfolk dressed in period garb who had nothing to do with the re-enactment itself. Apparently people down there really get into the local heritage stuff.

We also did some drilling for the public, usual British line maneuvers, wheeling and the like. We didn't have enough people for box formations. Actually, this was the smallest re-enactor turnout they've ever had since they started, I was told. Made for a really crappy battle, but our side "won" and I was deaf for about 5 minutes after our artillery team fired off the cannon. I got really excited when I saw an elderly gentleman wearing a green beret with the 5th SFG flash. I introduced myself and told him that I used to be with the 7th, only to find that he had just bought the thing at a military surplus store. That irked me a little bit, but he was prior service, and old, so I let it slide. Oh yeah, I also threatened to violate a passer-by with my bayonet... disrespectful little punk was making fun of us.

Anyways, now that I look back, not a whole lot to tell event wise. Just good times with some new folk who seemed entertained but a little put off by my personality (What's new?). And great food.

I'll have pictures in one of the picture threads ASAP, but honestly, I'm having a hell of a time tracking them down.

JQ - I cannot believe that I thought about Jet Li before Connor McCleoud. I am eternally ashamed.

MSG - I did a Rev war re-enactment this past weekend. That dark age/fantasy thing is still this coming weekend at Lake Needwood in Rockville.

Let my spirit rise, Valkyries carry me.
Take me to Valhalla where my brothers wait for me.
Fires burn into the sky, my spirit will never die.

I'm really hoping not to open a floodgate here by appearing to encourage quick abandonment of slightly rocky-at-the-moment relationships. Give sufficient ponderance to the options before deciding anything. Just sayin', if the ONLY thing keeping you there is oldtime's sake obligation, might be time to re-evaluate.

Tristan: The minute he steps out of line and hurts or is cruel to me I'll let you guys know. You can have what is left of him after I am through. I don't see that happening though. He is a very sweet man and I have more of a mean streak than he does.

JQ: What you said makes perfect sense and I guess I am not staying out of obligation and it's more like what Magda said, any good relationship needs reconsidering.

Thanks for that Magda!

That was actually me who said that, unless Tristan said that in an earlier post that I missed.

Anyway, I am currently catching up folks! It's good to be back, so much to catch up on.

GED, you're right. I made a mistake and gave Tristan credit for something you said. My bad. I apologize to you both and I'll try to pay better attention.

Busy, Been trying to make some cash so I can pay the rent. Also, my friends thought it would be a good idea to mend my heartache by reintroducing me to World of Warcraft, which is a time consuming demon, but kinda fun.
