CALLMESERENITY

I had one of those messenger bags once. Picked it up at a thrift store.

I wonder what happened to it? I don't remember getting rid of it. Hmmmm.....

Morning, all!
I'm supposed to be cooking, so I'll make this kinda quick.

Several things....

In talking to FFG last night, and doing some more researching, we are pretty sure the guns used are designated CA36. This was determined because of the height of the sight rail vs. that on the G36C. However, the CA36 airsoft guns on eBay are in the neighborhood of $330-$350...and the G36C's are significantly cheaper. I, myself, am going to get a few of the G36C's...they have the same look. I know this is not 100% accurate, but I do believe it will still look good.

I also screen capped a few shots from the deleted scene from the pilot. In viewing those, and the other "flashback" scenes, it appears there are two types of "uniform" worn by the Independents...I'll call them Type A and Type B.

Type A is the basic pants, shirt, etc. with the red vest worn under a long-sleeved coat. There is one shot that shows the mail sleeves under this type of uniform:

It does not appear that everyone wearing the long brown coats have the mail sleeves. Mal, for example, just appears to be wearing his coat over a shirt and the vest:

Type B is similar to Type A...shirt pants, etc. but the vest is worn over the mail, and there is either a simple smock-type "coat" or none at all. Zoe wears this type, as does Tracy in The Message

(This is also a better shot of the mail sleeves)

So, that's what I have found. Anyone have comments, addendums, anything? I do think it would be neat to have the two types intermingled. I am planning on the Type A...I'm actually going to try to recreate something very close to Mal's, complete with the arm braid.
Please let me know what y'all think!

RIMG, I know that a six-pack will easily fit into that bag, along with one or two of those plastic ice packs.

Ok, now I have to get back to cooking. See you all after!

I do want to thank everyone for the overwhelming response to this. I was hoping to get two or three people interested in this...and look, we're creating an Army! Whoo-hoo!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Tristan,

Keep me posted on the trench and vest. Inexpensive is good.

I will let you know about the G36s. They had them at two local shops. I am going to look them up tomorrow to see if either is on sale. I'll keep you posted.

I may be talking out of turn but I don't think a banner is necessary, the past 2 years we've walked under the Seeb-Kah banner (um, that's SEBC Southeast Browncoats) and I don't think 2 banners would be allowed. Unless the Brigade walked separate, which I would be against since I think all the Browncoats should be together.

Oh yeah, www.OutToTheBlack.com will have fully embroidered Independent patches up shortly. The star is a navy blue, which is the color in the Firefly Companion book.

Hello again, all!

Back for a short spell...I should be back "home" tomorrow.

I bid on two of the guns on eBay....so I should have them in a few weeks. The ones from Sister's post look great, too...and they are not a bad price. I think the shipping on those is somewhere in the neighborhood of $12-$14...so no more than $40.00 total.

I agree with FFG on the banner...I like the faact that we march for SEBC. More unified that way, although I know that word has a bad connotation!

ArtCat, phenomenal! We are eagerly awaiting the results!

I am goint to go ahead and start a second thread for this subject with a link-back to here.
Be right back.

Hi, I just joined up on this board so excuse me as a newby. I was at DC 06 and had a blast last year. I don't know if any of you saw me at the Shindig but I came as a (gasp!) "purple belly". If anyone is interested in joining me at the front of the line to be booed and hissed at, I would be grateful. If you would like to check out my uniform to see how it looked, my photo bucket web site is as follows. You will find my Alliance Photo and other Browncoat projects I'm working on. Cheers.

Strider I got a couple pictures of you at the shindig.

I was the Zoe in the funeral dress,

I also met a guy we ended up naming Bendis. Here's him and another soldier.

I promise to shoot you politely.

Hey Eien! Yeah, I remember you! Good to hear from you again! Hope that things are going well for you. I like the pictures on your web site. Very nice dress by the way. Where did you find that material? I'm hoping that someone else will join me and be a "purple belly" this year. I always try to find something different to wear that I don't think others will be wearing. All to often, I find myself having to explain over and over who and what I am. At least they are paying attention. It's funny but the guy dressed as an Independent soldier told me before the Shindig that he thought I was a brave soul to be wearing an Aliance uniform to the Shindig. I just laughed because he did not know that I'm crazy anyway! Hope to see you and your hubby again this year at DC 07! Cheers!

It's great to be crazy cause no one ever ask's you to explain!
