Hey, I recognize that book!

And don't feel bad, jie jie; she makes us both look ordinary. I should really stop trying to compete on any level

I still like my boots better....

Phew. Of course, walking boots are equipment, not clothing. Climbing boots, ditto. And I've only worn the pull-on kneelength suede once, so they aren't part of the wardrobe yet...

Boots are so comfy.

But I do have 'Venus in Furs' going round in my head...

I would only say that the excitment that the boots, feet and hands has generated seems to warrant caution... That said, they aren't half as exciting as discovering the BDHs exist in a lilliputian world!

Whoa! This thread just got, um, weird. Guy in a corset? Yeeeeah, dunno if I should be disturbed or oddly intrigued.

Magda, awww, thanks for bringing back the adorable. Don't worry, I'm right there with ya feeling ordinary.

EEP! BLUE HANDS!! Nico, not again! *hides under table*

PR, you are a girl after my own heart. I absolutely LOVE your shoes! Yep, stealing those too.

I'm fairly certain I responded to your email. Check your junk mail folder to see if my response got stuck (it may have been from "Sara013"), and I'll check my gmail to make sure my response went out.

Regarding quantity of boots that gets categorized as "fetish," I'd like to politely object. *snikker* It's a "collection," not a "fetish."

Don't be upset, HK! We don't mean anything bad by it! But you are a fabulous photographer, and you are extremely pretty, and you do have a wardrobe that would put almost any other to shame, and you do have just about every single male on this site drooling over you on a very regular basis. And all of that is okay, because I think you're way cool and talented and pretty, too. And I'm a halfway decent photographer, and have a pretty decent wardrobe, and have a very shiny male - whom I adore and drool over - drooling over me on a regular basis. So I'm not upset. So you shouldn't be upset.
You can be embarassed, though

Well.... now let me see here, dear.

The assumption that I couldn't afford you financially, assuming you are indeed a gold-digger because I have no evidence to the contrary as of yet, is founded because of the picture a while back of me standing next to my beautiful beat up 7 year old Cavalier. I'm not a poor man, but I don't see myself in a McMansion with a Hummer any time soon.

That being said, I'm curious why would you assume that I couldn't "afford" you in any other way your heart desires?

Just a word of advice: You probably shouldn't be so quick to judge those around you, particularly admirers... you may have already missed out on some great oppurtunities at happiness.

You just keep playing hard to get though. It suits you.

Um, I really don't think he was expecting the proposal to be taken seriously...I'm surprised you actually engaged with him in this dialog let alone as a life partner. I haven't measured the man completely yet, so I'll withhold judgment. For now. But I must say HK, the way you came out swinging Wolverine-style was--ahem--very exciting. Sorry to bring this into your thread, PhoenixRose.

And just when I might possibly think you lost all sense of decorum, you pivot on you heel (I'm thinking of the first (non-River) set of boots here), and address our hostess with a quiet grace not oft displayed in these times. I have no fucking idea how to talk to you. I yet I enable myself.

The whole thing reminded me of the PhoenixRose/ChrisMoorhead exchange of a few months ago. Slightly different topic, but neither of you could be considered damsels in distress. You handled yourselves admirably. Chris still can get under the skin of some people, but many of us have figured out he's not all bad; he's frank and blunt, and sometimes that can hurt people's feelings. I am hopeful the same holds true for 6String. Time will tell.

And there ain't nothin' wrong with that Jeep that a little paint and a lotta love didn't cure.

Um, thank you Jonny, for the commentary, and for not considering me a damsel in distress. I hope that my hijacking of the end of this thread did not offend you or anyone. And while the full engagenment may have been entertainment for us non-combatants, it most assured would have damaged your calm, perhaps to the point that you would have considered leaving our threads, and that thought would be unbearable. You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I take no offense, not before and not now. I know these things happen, though I do appreciate both you and HK apologizing.

Photography as a career? Not really. I do have dreams of taking pictures and creating art with them (as with my songpics) but I think it would be foolish of me to want to take all the pictures I would need for such things. And making money on anything of the sort, I have found, is an exercise in frustration. Be it writing, painting, graphic design, music, photography, or any other form of artistic expression, it is a hard life unless you strike it big. Even then, even if the money is good, it is a hard life and takes a certain kind of temperment to keep from burning out and losing one's mind. I'm not sure I have such a temperment.
Sorry, I got off on a ramble. My mind carries me down the well-worn paths rather often, and I've thought about trying to make my living as an artist a bit too much. I still think I'd like a job that involved graphic design, at least for awhile. Digital photography would doubtless be a big part of that sometimes.
So the short answer would be "Maybe."
I admit I'm not sure what "Lethal weapon perhaps but never the D in D..." means; 'tis a rather odd saying. However, I did understand what came before that, so thank you. I worked very hard on my toe dexterity when I was bored one summer, and it has stayed with me. It's very useful.

*edit* Oh yes...

I'm glad you think so. I think so, too. As to leaving completely, I have never been able to do it, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Once I stayed off the threads for a whole week (nearly anyway), but I chatted in the tag and sometimes in the chatroom because there were people I missed. But yes, there is at least one thread series I'm out of for the time being (though I'm still updating the index out of stubborn pride) Will I come back? I guess we'll see. Not looking likely at this point.
If I'm ever off the site entirely, it will be because there is too much Real Life happening. I love all you shiny folk too much to let a few peices of unfinished (and possibly unfinishable) business get in my way of seeing you. Real Life is a different thing, and we'll see how mine goes come the new year.

*edit number two* Yes, Penguin, leather (and vinyl! Don't forget the vinyl!)

Don't apologize or otherwise speak to trolls, HK; it's what they want. Unless you were talking to me, and you already said sorry for bringing it into my thread, so you have no reason to say sorry again, as any and all possible transgressions are forgiven. You're too cool for me to be mad at for something like getting snippy and/or standing up for yourself. If you're apologizing to Jack, I suppose that works; you were rather harsh on him, though I can relate to your frustration completely. Banter without tone of voice can get so slipperly, can't it?

Unless you're apologizing to me? But whatever for? I wasn't offended by your...outburst? rant? Hmmm. Confused, but that's my normal state so there's still no foul.

I admit I'm not sure what "Lethal weapon perhaps but never the D in D..." means; 'tis a rather odd saying. However, I did understand what came before that, so thank you. I worked very hard on my toe dexterity when I was bored one summer, and it has stayed with me. It's very useful.

It's just the way you handle a blade. Seeing that one in your toes and the memory of all your other dagger and swordplay and some hot working over of the big bag, led me the conclusion you are a Lethal Weapon, but you'll never be confused with a D in D (damsel in distress). All clear? I love being cryptic...

As to the whole artist as livelihood thing, I can relate. One of my many career goals was commercial artist, *gazes into mocking abyss of my contributions to the Blue Sun Room* but I was too damn slow ever to make it in the RW. None of us can afford to quit our day jobs, but I still foolishly believe that someday...Anyway, I love your work.

Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, Dintcha notice her sign-on name? A brilliant play on words; not only does it sound like Hell's Kitchen (sorry to have to explain this to Jack outright, sweets, but I cannot help myself: the Berserker has taken hold of me. Uh, may I call you sweets?) , it takes it's etymology from "Hellcat": 1.a. A woman regarded as bad-tempered and evil; b. A woman who practices sorcery; a witch; 2. A person who torments others; and "[Sex] Kitten": A young woman considered to have sex appeal. Since she is a kitten and not a cat, the Hellcat definition becomes slightly softer: Not "bad-tempered', but "moody"? Not "evil", but "mischievous". Not a tormentor, but a tease. Generally. Unless provoked. If her sign on name has such depth and meaning, how could the woman behind it be any less remarkable? That's why you couldn't afford her. Ever play a twelve string? Might need a bigger instrument...And yes, I am a funny guy, dude.

But I used some pretty big vocabulary words...

I usually try to meet people at their level. If fit for a two year old is how you perceive my responses, not to mention patronizing, so be it. Let's look at the evidence. Emhases mine.

Quote:

Well.... now let me see here, dear.

Since I have no evidence to the contrary, should I assume you are a child molester? I don't think that would be fair at all, do you?

As far as affording Hell's Kitten in any other way, I believe that was actually more of a comment on her abililty to suck the lifeblood out of any suitor (sorry HK!) more than an attack on anything you may have had to offer, but in pointing it out you actually ended up proving the point.
Quote:

Just a word of advice: You probably shouldn't be so quick to judge those around you, particularly admirers... you may have already missed out on some great oppurtunities at happiness.
You just keep playing hard to get though. It suits you.

Wait a minute, didn't you just get done calling her a golddigger without any evidence to back it up? If she's quick to judge, at least she considers what is put before her. Taking a long while to form a judgment is meaningless if you fail to look at the evidence. IN any case, my sense is that HK is choosy enough to ensure that the opportunities she seizes are worth the effort of pursuing. Happiness doesn't just drop in from the sky.

HK is not playing. "It suits you" is just a juvenile dig.
Quote:

PS.... these magic hands pay dividends in foot massages. It must be all that guitar playing.

ON the upside, I have absolutely no doubt that you are a phenominal guitar player, and if it helps I'll retract the 12 string joke. It was a playful jab that I now see may have been out of place.

Hope you don't mind that I didn't read your post too much because I surly didn't mean what you thought I did, and I don't think that if you knew that then you wouldn't have said what you did. You're right... I'm probably an a-hole.
My bad. Sorry again. Hope we can still be internet buddies.

How would you know what she inferred from your words if you didn't bother reading her response?

If? Lemme tell you something about women in general, not just HK. Unless you can specifically identify the offence, don't bother apologizing: it's gas on the fire. Nothing gets them going more.

Yes, I know that was supposed to be funny, ironic, sarcastic, dramatic. But we're talking here about perceptions and whether or not you came across like a two year old. That was a childish sentiment you expressed in a childish way. Whether you yourself are childish isn't the issue. You spoke as a child, you got answered like one.

All that behind us, it seems you were all over HK for getting hacked off and losing her sense of humor, and here I come along to defend the fair maiden's honor, and a friendly piece of advice for you, even firing off some arguably humorous wit, and then you get all hacked off and tell me I'm patronizing. Was it my tone? Nope couldn't be that. Doesn't translate online. Was I too snarky? Could be. But ask anyone who reads my stuff with any frequency at all on this site, I'm not a "snark". Just calls 'em as I sees 'em, and answers 'em in kind.

If you want to post items that tend toward the inflamatory, or the defensive when called on it, don't expect people to just roll over and clam up. If you're looking for fights, try RWED; it's their specialty. If you want to remain civil, this is a great place for open expression. Deep down, you might be a stand up guy. I hope that's the case. Unfortunately, we still don't know you that well and this is the first time one of your posts has left us scratching our heads. We don't tolerate trolls here and maybe it's just the way you come off that makes us wary. Maybe we just need to get used to one another. Whichever. I hope you continue to post because I really have enjoyed some of your comments.

/beating of dead horse...for now.

Now that's humor!

Caught me dead to rights. I admit it, I'm smitten by the kitten. But regarding the surgery you propose, as long as she doesn't mind, I can't think of too many of life's other guilty pleasures I don't mind being accused of.

But really now, I'm just Gallahadding. Or more likely Quixote-ing. Was Mal kissing Kaylee's ass when he shot Dobson?

But she has abandoned me. *Crawls offstage to await his next cue.*

Whatever you say Johnny. You obviously know much more about women than I do. Since Hell's Kitten hasn't responded to me, I'm just going to let it go. This whole topic of conversation is truly starting to bore me.

As for being a phenominal guitar player, well, I'm not half bad yet, but I will be someday. She's my one true love.
