Sister,
its actually not yarn but fishing cord, I am using a large set of needles to do it,

the fishing cord comes in white, and you use RIT dye to dye it a silvery grey or dark grey depending on how long you dye it. (it does not hold dye super well)

Browncoats are the shiniest folks in the 'verse

My personal suggestion, if you can afford it, is to check-in on Thursday, as they start handing out badges around 4pm. On opening day (Friday) the lines can get crazy long. It was nice not having to futz with it last year.

I was planning on checking in on thursday, I had no idea that they handed out badges then. I guess i can chaulk that up as a bonus. It'll be rough absorbing a whole night by myself (that's assuming no one I organize rooming with is coming thursday) but I think the cost/benefit is definately in my favor. It also puts me in a position to help out anyone coming on friday with their stuff. Also, anyone have any idea if they have WiFi in the hotel rooms?

I checked in Thursday this year, and it took no time at all. One of my roommates from this year recommended it, and I was very glad I did.

I agree with the parking, there really is no need to go anywhere you can't walk to from the Con.

I'm sure there isn't, but there are times that I just need to drive. Plus I've only been to Atlanta once for 1 hour, so it'd be nice to see some of what it has to offer. Plus, if there is an emerfency booze, I'm sorry, medicinal tonic run, it'll be nice to know that we don't have to hoof it all the way from the store to the hotel.

Having this in your sig makes you my hero for the day. Eddie Izzard is the f*ing man.

Glad you like the quotation.

I lived there for 6 years, so I have seen most of what there is and really don't care to drive around there any more than I have to. I do understand the need to drive though, and I had to leave last year, taking the MARTA up to my car, to go out for more cigarettes, then taking MARTA back. Still, the $3.50 there and back when needed is better to me than $10 a day.

You do make a good point about making a booze run though. Hmmm...

On the booze issue, try to bring whatever you think you might need with you. However, pack it up tight (so it doesn't clink) in a brown box that's taped shut. If the hotel(s) see you with booze, they'll charge you an outrageous "corkage fee".

BWTP, trust me on this...there's so much to do you'll never miss your car. Oh, and there are plenty of Browncoats that check in on Thursday. Last year, strictly through word of mouth, we went through 2/3 of our lanyard stock on Thursday night. The freakin' Con hadn't even started yet, AND we weren't at a vendor table!! Browncoats are crazy for their shinys, yes they are.

Tristan...hubby and I came up with a really good way for me to wear the patch(es). It'll take us a month or two to work it out, but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. LOL.

Yeah, I took a handle of Jack and a fifth of DiSaranno, but they were both packed ticktly in clothes in my bag. Getting in a case or so of beer might be harder, though I can label the box t-shirts or something, maybe, and make sure it is a box that has full length separators.

Good to know. A bottle or 2 of Jager should be more than enough to cover me for 4 days, so I'm not too worried. I just like to have all my exits covered.

Also good to know. Didn't think I'd be alone, but it never hurts to ask. I don't like being that guy sharing a drink with himself at the hotel bar waiting for my party to arrive.

Well, I can't speak for the Colonel, but you definately have my interest peaked. Can't wait to see it.

SISTER

I'm also planning to get there on Thursday; so we'll have a tidy bunch of forward scouts. Thank you ArtCat for that info; I'll share it with the folks at ImaginKnit! Depending on what they plan on asking for a fee, I may go ahead and order up a couple of sets of mail. Once Tristan gets there he can "assign" them. I really, really can't wait!!...and yes..Eddie Izzard is THE man!

Sounds good. I actually just recieved my chainmail pliers and should be getting my jump rings soon, so I'll be all set in the sleeve department, but let me say thanks in advance for anything you work out with ImaginKnit. It'll help tons.

Boomer, I actually have a question for you (as our resident leatherworker) when I finish the mail sleeves, I want to finish the shoulder edge in leather and rig a buckle/belt system in the front and back to connect them. I've got some ideas on how to do this, I'm just wondering where you'd reccomend I get the leather from (looking for something supple yet durrable). Thanks in advance.

TRISTAN

Evening, all.
Just a quick note...I have "finished" the Second Genreation vest, and am about to go take some pictures of it. I am still trying to figure out how to close it in the front. I'll be asking for ideas.

When I get the pictures taken and uploaded, I am going to go ahead and start another thread. So, I should see all of you in 30 minutes to an hour!

Oh, Boomer, I'm looking forward to seeing how y'all worked it out with the patch...

I have returned. Our new thread:

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Also, we are allowed to put a nickname on our D*C badges, I plan on putting BabyWithThePower (if it's too long Caboose, an old Army nickname). That being said, whatever your nickname (should you choose one) is, I'd like that as well to put it in the roster. Another thing I'd like, if none of you are opposed, would be to put your hometown, state, country on there as well. It'll show visitors how far our sphere of influence is. Just a thought. I'll set mine up that way, you guys can use it as an example.

Thanks for all the effort on the homepage BWTP. It looks really great.

As for the roster, if you & Tristan are looking for a good Sergeant, I'm your man. Four years of military service w/ the Rangers. Still got my stripes to put on the coat if needed.

If you want, I can private email my full name & other info for the roster.
