Um you want to dance with Roxy, right?

Tristan, again you amaze. Just a little something you whipped up, huh? It was nothing really...

Yeah. Right. I thought I was looking at pix taken at the museum. Seriously. ZOMG! y'know?

Roxy, if you dance with me, you might want to keep your boots on!
And thank you for the compliment.

JQ, thanks for that...but not "whipped-up" by any means! Those took a month to get right...tiny little pieces of steel and brass...but he loved them, and that is what counted.

Okay, found some:

Doing a little Bal (Balboa, that is):

Me and the flying hair:

Catchin' my breath (and before my hair was completely destroyed. Asking it to hold curl all day then through dancing is a big task):

And one last...more flying hair and a pic with showing our group sweater:

BTW: my name RugBug is swing themed named: Rugcutter and JitterBug

Heh, I went to my car for lunch, and Royal Crown Revue was in my CD player. It was Caught in the Act, the live one from The Mint that somewhat started the whole swing resurgence of the mid-90s.

I am pretty sure I can 'handle' Roxy, no problems there .

EDIT: RugBug, glad to know of more swing dancers.
I cannot see the photos, presumedly because of the anti-IMG tag at the end.

Trist, lol, don't worry, I'll protect my feet somehow.

RugBug, glad to meet another swing dancer! Great pics!! I love your hair! I'm trying to find pics of me dancing, but all I've found is that one of me and my lil bro I posted a bit back. I'll keep looking though.

LA29, of course we will teach you some dancing! This is just gonna be SO much fun!!

RIMG, I was just listening to Big Bad VooDoo Daddy myself cause now I'm all in the swing music mood. Do you happen to know any lindy hop, btw?

JQ, lil worried 'bout you, but then I remembered that's just you.

Ah, RIMG, I so wish you were near me. I don't really have anyone to dance with these days. The guy in the pictures is now living in Atlanta. He stills comes back occassionally, but it's just not the same. And I've been out of the swing scene here for so long that I don't really know anyone anymore.

(Those picts, BTW, were all takin' at work: At our fifties themed year end and at Halloween. My usual dance clothes are a bit more 40s inspired, but I went with my 50s dress and saddle shoes for this occassion. And my, I never realized just how see through that dress is. It's sheer except for an eyelet insert that runs around the bust and down the front but with a slip it seems innocuous. Eek)

Roxy: Do you do lindy? I started doing Savoy style Lindy and then switched a a Dean Collins/Hollywood style. Add some Bal, Shag, and Charleston and I'm a happy camper.

I wish we lived closer too, as it would be good to get to dance again. Ah, the mixed blessings of the internet.

You might be far more advanced at this than I, as I never really put names to any of it, just did it. I really need a refresher now.

Oh no. I've forgetten most of what I learned. I have only danced about 8 times in the last three or four years. Sad, that.

Add an injured right arm...you know, my arm I get lead by...and hard core dancing may be a thing of the past.

I am teaching some guy this week. Heh. He paid $75/lesson for five lessons and only knows some very basic stuff. I told him I'd teach him for half that (actually for free...but it was worth a shot. ). Now if I could just remember some moves. It's east coast and these days I just follow without thinking about what I'm doing.

I can see the resemblance Odds, though I have no idea who Ryan Hurst is.

Rugbug - I think most of what I do would be considered East Coast Swing.

Oh yeah, and I tend to lead with my right hand, either on your left shoulder blade or lower/middle back.

Okay, I'm getting into the whole camera companion thing. Found some more pictures on my work computer:

This is me at work Christmas party last year:

Please note the big gray thing. That was the sling I wore for 4 months. There is also a white strap going across my chest for my brace and another strap around my waist. My shirt was split down the right side so I could put it on. It was a fun time, let me tell you.

RIMG, I'm actually a bit rusty on my lindy too, but I'm glad you know a lil. Sorry I live far away too. My hubby knows a bit, but it's actually my lil bro that I dance with most of the time. I'm trying to get my friends to start swing dancing again. They have pretty regular dances here every 3rd Fri. of the month.

RugBug, like RIMG, I don't really know the specific names, but I just kinda go with it. I do know the Charleston though! That's really cool that you're actually teaching someone! Sorry 'bout your arm. Very nice pic of you! Beautiful smile! Welcome to pic companionness!

HK, your pictures are awesome. I think I read that you bought your Kaylee costume from a prop shop type of place. Yes? It's fantastic.

To pay no attention to the moving on of this thread, I found this picture...the one I was looking for:

Hair is much better there. All controlled and danceable. Problem with that long flying hair is twofold: 1. dizziness...you can't spot for multiple turns. 2. it whips around and hits my lead in the face and I don't have baby soft hair. I've got thick, coarse hair. It's not pleasant.

And about a week after I broke my arm. My hand was swollen like that for months. And my hair was all wild-like unless I had the beauty college do it.

The photo of you with the dancy-controlly hair and red bandana? AWESOME! I wish I knew how to do that. I think my hair is too uncivil for such styling, though.

In the beginning the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and is widely considered as a bad move.

MAGDALENA

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

OK... I swear I was in here less than 24 hours ago and I go to sleep and get up and POW!! You all go totally camera-whorin' on me!! What is a girl to do??

Those photos of you are totally gorgeous RugBug!! I do hope your arm allows you to dance again - I can see what joy it gives you!!

RIMG - totally gorgeous photos too!! Man! Ryan Hurst does look like RiverisMyGoddess!!! I will not be able to watch "Remember the Titans" again without thinking of you Jimi-bear!!
Oh - I want one of those dolls too!! But I want to go to D*C much more!!

Roxy!! Hello totally gorgeous one!! You a swinger too? (I mean that in totally the nicest possible way Sweetie!) I did it at high school and college but that is exactly 20 years ago - I did it with my then love interest at college and he was a full 4" shorter than me... so it was... interesting! Mind you I did love it!! I will have to seriously consider checking out the swing clubs in Melbourne (Note to self "Swing Dance Clubs" - do not need a sexual identity crisis right now...) We have Jazz at the Zoo in summer and last time I was there there were a few couples doing the swing dancing really, really well - they were a joy to watch - and one dapper not-so-young chap in a zoot suite with trilby asked me to dance - I did just join in on the basic stuff - but it was fun!

Gladiator - what can I say - you are turning into a true camera companion!! So very purdy!!

And JonnyQ!! I take my hat off to you - you always find the best pics for your comments!

Now - I have to ask Hell's Kitten... "Are they the other Kaylee overalls from the pilot of the series????!!!!" You and your sisters are in for a fight - I might bring my own sister over and just let her lose on y'all!! She used to whop my hide real good when we were growing up and if her fists and nails don't get you - her tongue will!!

*sighs* "Wash? Tell me I'm pretty..."

SILVERGAMER

I'm new here (though a long time fan of the show), and I figured I'd throw one of these up here. Everyone else was doing it!

Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh...now die!
