Huh. Evanescence. Gotta admit, I have this weakness for rockin' girl bands. Ever since Heart, waaayy back when.... "Crazy On You" has had a prominent effect upon the cozenpsyche, ever since I saw the band live as a mere adolescent.

Gorramit, Jade, now you're forcing me to do the research on this band! Ack!

I, for one, like the tune. Guess I'll have to explore their musical output.

I have a thing for rocking chick bands, too. Unfortunately, I've found few that are worth listening to (for me) ;( Walls of Jericho, Epistemic (small band, one of my best friends from HS is the lead guitar/writer), kidneythieves, Guano Apes, and Lacuna Coil (to an extent, I'm sorta starting to dislike them).

You can check out Epistemic at http://www.epistemic.org/

Evanescence isn't a girl band, I mean their lead vocalist is of the female persuasion, but if the rest of the band members are those biology text books fucking lied man.

Personally on the whole I find female rock groups, erm crap. They're not particularly bad, but I remember hearing about kitty and thinking "a female metal band, that could be interesting". Then I heard them and they sound like men.

What's the point?

That's not what I'm saying. Have you heard Kitty? They actually sound like men, I mean seriously. It's a genre of music dominated by men, so instead of bringing something new to the genre they...

...became men and left us with just another band.

SERYN

My sister used to listen to that Alanna Myles song over and over and over again and again and again.

Even just the first bar prompts murderous thoughts in me.

But i'm sure its a great song.

You are right about the girl lead metal bands - they are just metal bands who happen to have lead vocalists with boobs. But kitty did manage occaisionally to sound female, and of a slightly different genre, bands like Hole and whatnot did have a very female idenity. My problem with them is they feel a bit 'teenagery' - like I should be listening to stuff thets more challenging with a greater musical an emotional depth and range - not a reflection on the music, i'm sure people get loads more out if it than I do.

Personally i'm sticking with Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Imogen Heap - not exactly rock but then i'm not a big fan of metal anymore like I said. I think i'm getting old. But they have unique sounds and identities (for pop/alt anyway), every album has something new and different to it but its always essentially theirs, and they experiment with different musical forms - dance and rockier stuff and electro and all sorts.

Tis good. Desert Island discuses.

Ah, babel fishy, i'm not going to bother as it never translates back, i'm just going to laugh politely and then go over ... ... ...

...

...

here.

I just got stuck in a friends house while she was still asleep and had nothing to do - couldn't get the tv to work (why! when tvs are such basic equipment, can you never get them to work in someone else house? is it an unwritten law of nature? are they passcoding tvs?) so i ended up reading a travel guide to Croatia. And now i want to go to Croatia.

Anybody else want to go to Croatia? It looks nice, many hoppity little islands to scope out and dream of Browncoat Island. I want to go. Ok... *adds it to the mile long list of Places Helen Is Going To Visit One Day*

And now i'm going to get something to eat.

Isn't sanity really a one trick pony, anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy...ooh hoo hoo hoo... the skys the limit!

Blame babel fish, I can't speak greek. It was supposed to say blessed are the cheesmakers. I was explaining that the book of snacks holds all the answers to your questions about where ice cream is mentioned in the Bible.

"And the Lord did combine the Ice with the Cream and brought forth bounteous flavours, of chocolate and mint and all manners in between.
And the Lord did taste this Ice and Cream and it was good."
