aww, poor you.

I think I was up at 3am. I should have said hi. I did the Not Sleep thing last night. And I had all sorts of weird dreams. Me and a friend from college were attacked by what we thought were harmless garter snakes, but were really these crazy killer attack snakes. When trying to run away from them, I got my foot stuck in a gopher hole.

I had another dream with Sylar from Heroes in it. He was poisoning peoples' food, and I was trying to stop him, but I was scared to eat anything. Obviously.

Did any of you see that fruity oaty bar recipe NewOldBrowncoat posted? I was thinking of making some this weekend, though I'll change the recipe a bit.

Prep: 20 min
Bake: 35 min
Oven: 350 F
Makes: 25 bars

1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter
1 recipe Apricot Filling, Apple-Cranberry Filling, Easy Filling or Raisin Filling

1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar and baking soda. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture.

2. Press remaining crumb mixture into bottom of an ungreased 9x9x2 inch or 11x7x 1&1/2 baking pan. Spread with desired filling. Sprinkle with reserve crumb mixture. Bake in a 350 F oven for 30 to 35 min., or until top is golden. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Fillings

Apricot:
In a medium sauce pan combine 1 cup snipped dried apricots, and 3/4 cup water. Bring to boiling, reduce heat, simmer covered 5 minutes. Meanwhile combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon all purpose flour. Stir into apricot mixture. Cook and stir about 1 min. more or until thickened and bubbly.

Apple Cranberry:
Combine 1 cup chunky applesauce, 2/3 cup dried cranberries or blueberries, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon and dash ground cloves.

Easy Filling:
Use 1&1/2 cups canned mincemeat or one 21 oz. can cherry or peach pie filling.

Raisin Filling:
In a medium saucepan, combine 3/4 cup water, 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cornstarch. Add 1&1/4 cups golden raisins. cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.

Those look tasty and easy to make.

And, if you replace the butter with margerine and use that splenda brown sugar stuff, they're both dairy free and not that bad for you. (I have to think in these terms in my family.)

I'd probably also replace some of the all purpose flour with whole wheat.

I'd like to try apricot and the applesauce fillings.

Bao's not that hard. You make some dough and some filling, wrap the filling in the dough and then steam it.

No.

Because even in cozenworld, the rule applies that the baker doesn't have to do the washing up.

So..*hands cozen a pair of rubber gloves and a scrubbie.*

I had a dream with a tv character in it once - it was in a Dark Angle type dirty dystopia world, and Angel and i where hiding under a table for some reason...

I just wish i could lucid dream, thered be a lot more than hiding going on.

I've been able to do it, but I'm not very good at it. Sometimes I realise I'm dreaming and I can take some control, but only like 45%. For instance I can create things but my subconsious always changes it. If you really try apparently you can eventually get 100% control, which means you litterally become a god within your own dreamscape, but it takes effort, screw that.
