Been curious about this movie since it came out...

Three Kings (1999)
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0120188/

...but kinda forgot about it until yesterday, when I found a used copy for $5.99.

Simply put, I was blown away!
Writing, acting, cinematography, the whole smash.
Even the Special Features were amazing, especially the director's Video Journal.

Anybody else see this?

Woman, you are completely off your nut.

I just loved 'Three Kings'! It became part of my movie collection a while ago. The acting was just awesome and the writer should be proud of themself. The way it was shot is what I was most impressed with. Just a great movie all 'round. Hmmm, I think I'm gonna have to go off and watch it now...

Well, I'm gonna be watching it at least another two times for the Director & DP commentaries!

Haha, I think I might have to do that. So that'll be, what, 3 times. Oh boy...

Oh, dear. Apparently, Mr. Russell only included the happy moments in that Vlog of his.

Yup , that one was instantly classic...

I especially liked the 'overexposed' look to the cinematography...The harsh light added to the effect of a harsh environment...

And it was documentary in style , just like our beloved TV show and BDM...Adds to the 'you are there' experience...

I could watch 'Three Kings' again , anytime...

Yeah, the director wanted it to look like the photos of the war that were printed in the L.A. Times, which I can really see after a second viewing.

Several types of film stock were used, including Ektachrome (which is usually for making slides), and some that was created especially for the production.

Fascinating discussion here...

Pretty cool that Three Kings had been voted Best Picture by the Boston Film Critics Association that year...
