Or if you're like me and you like to cut drinking out of the equation altogether (it's not so much a choice as a necessity), there's even more time for loafing. Which is more exhausting than it looks. Honest.

StellarCon 31 was a pretty fun weekend.

Friday afternoon/evening, everybody was gearing up for Saturday. So there were a lot of booths unoccupied. The Charlotte Browncoat booth, however, was definitely the best one of the entire con.

There's Danny Seavers and Cathy Wilcox, running the booth.

Friday night was the night of the "Browncoats United" panel, which was pretty fun. It had a good turnout, at least.

Then Saturday, we had all sorts of people come out. I manned the booth for a good hour or two, and had quite a few people come up to the table and chat about Firefly, Serenity, stuff in general.

I got to meet the writers of a soon-to-be-published comic book called GravyBoy. What they had at the con looked pretty cool, and I hope it'll do well.

Later that night, I got to sit in on a screening of Heart of an Empire, a documentary about the Fighting 501st (What? I was raised a Star Wars fan), which was actually really well done. I even got my picture with a couple of them.

Apparently there was a lot of partying going on Saturday night, as I understand is the case at most cons. I however, was at home, asleep.

Sunday morning, it was clear just how tired everybody was. Groggy panelists, sleepy teenagers, half-awake Klingons performing an initiation ceremony right next to the Browncoat booth.

All I can recall about Sunday was that there were robot battles going on for a good 3 hours. That was pretty fun to watch. (A 7 year-old won the tournament.)

I really didn't get to take many pictures.

But of course. I wasn't going to have the hat with me and NOT wear it. Besides... I like my (your) hat.

Yes, the pom pom arrived unharmed, and I got it sewn on without much trouble. The hat's as good as new.

The panel was interesting. Before we got to the actual discussion, we had a powerpoint presentation for the uninitiated (Which didn't seem to do much for us, since nearly everyone who attended the panel was already a fan). But then we got to the discussion itself. Questions like "What makes Firefly so unique?" "What drew us all to it?" "Why do you think it failed to become a hit during it's first run?" A lot of the questions that we've all answered on the boards a hundred times.

But don't get me wrong, it was fun. Somehow, the discussion turned into whether or not teenagers these days just don't care about good storytelling. Which is a can of worms I'm not about to start debating here.

Yay! I'm glad. I've been worried because lately I've been having trouble with my hats getting waylaid or never delivered.

It does sound like a lot of stuff we've talked about a million times, but that doesn't make it necessarily bad. Especially if there are newbies around who haven't gotten it all out of their systems yet.

Looks like you had a good time at the con. I kinda wish I'd heard more about it. before it came and went without me knowing a thing. Ah, well. No big, Life has been hectic lately anyway. Good and wonderful, but hectic.

Yeah, it was pretty fun. I guess my only real complaint is that it didn't feel like there was enough going on. I've gone to StellarCon twice, and it's naturally a smaller affair. Guess that means I'm eager to move to the big leagues.

So right now I'm on the fence about D*C. It's that whole time/money equation (Enough time off x Enough money = D*C) that I'm workin' on. I'll be deciding in the next few weeks here, though.

For those who missed it when it aired, or were disappointed when it was canceled... DayBreak is available at www.abc.com 12 episodes with Adam Baldwin. Well done. Convoluted story. Police murder drama conspiracy, meets Groundhog's Day. Take a day or 2 or 3 to watch it all. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I haven't loafed in so long!

Ok...

*clicks fingers - a chaise longue with fluffy furry cushions and a set of nubile men types with their own palm fans and fruit baskets and chocolate selection boxes appears*

*gets comfy*

Ok! I'm ready for movie night - what did you have in mind SR?

oh! i just saw 300 - liked it way more than i expected to (not a fan of action movies) it was so cool, and very stylish, very nice to look at.

(and no, thats not a reference to the nubile man types that were littering the screen. I don't really find leather man-knickers a big attraction.
Serenity will back me up on this i'm sure...)

but i was thinking that, for the girls anyway, some of te costumes were very copyable for D*C. i know i'm going to have a go.

Isn't sanity really a one trick pony, anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy...ooh hoo hoo hoo... the skys the limit!

I don't remember, I had it clear in my head last week, but I ..Forgot! See what happens when you ignore me for too long. I guess I will have to think up something on the spot. I just saw Casino Royale on DVD, that was really impressive. So was Children of Men, Seryn does rather like Mr. Owen, though that one was rather dark. How about Into the West with Gabriel Byrne, Ellen Barkin and Colm Meany.?
