(Short version: Image must be hosted somewhere on the internet and all you need is the URL. Photobucket, imageshack, and flickr are your friends. See above-linked thread for further details, or click 'reply with quote' to see how others have done it.)

Rose,

I hear you on the gun safety thing. The rule I was brought up with is, "The gun is always loaded." Even if you checked, even if the chamber is open--it's still loaded. So it never, ever gets pointed at something you don't intend to shoot. There was an incident that I posted a while back that's illustrative of my own views on gun safety. Was at a range day at the Naval Special Warfare mountain training center in La Posta, CA. We were qualifying with rifles (M-4s, in this case). One of the kids had a malfunction. So like a good little boy, he keeps his rifle pointed down range and puts his hand in the air. One of the range masters goes over to help him out, and what does the bonehead do? He starts turning his body, muzzle and all, toward the firing line. Range master clamps a hand down on the barrel of the M-4 and gives it a good swift tug to pull the kid off balance whilst simultaneously giving him an elbow to the face. Kid dropped like a sack of potatoes. Heh. Bet he never turned his muzzle on the firing line again!

y'know what the great thing about my mother is? the great thing about my mother (aside from her hat-knitting skills) is her cake-making skills. this year for my birthday i figured it'd be awefully shiny to have a cake like simon's in OOG. so what does my mother do? she makes me one, of course

Well, I've been lurking around these picture threads long enough to finally post something.

But first... Miramel? That is the greatest birthday cake I've ever seen. That was an awesome idea.

Anyhow, I'm very camera-phobic, so there are hardly any pictures of me. This is one of the only ones:

And it looks so weird because my sister took the picture without warning and I was about to blow a bubble with my gum.

Ok, I thought I would toss my 2c worth in, I don't normally take my own picture, or have it taken, so mostly I have pics from various musical moments. I don't think I have ever posted pics in a thread like this before, but I was inspired by PR and all of you great folk that are sharing. Hopefully I won't break any monitors with my likeness ...

This is a shot of a band I used to play in, I like it because of the '59 Desoto that belonged to our drummer (center), and I am on the left:

These are two shots from a local music festival we played, I am on the left again (is there a trend here?):

An old shot from a band I was in a much longer time ago, at yet another music festival:

Thanks for letting me share!

I was one of the many faces at the far end of the table.
*fish, fish, dig, dig, rummage, "crap!" rummage, "oy"*
Well I don't seem to have any pix from the shindig, so here are a couple that might look a little like me at the time.

Don't feel too about being late (we were all impressed that you would come so far to join us); I was there from start to finish-well, nearly so at both ends--and I still only got to talk to half the table. I did try to move around a bit, but I really see why Arthur used a round table. Was it really in August? My, my.

Yeah I seem to be having "issues" somewhere between my 'bucket account and Haken's machinery. It's very strange. Anyway, not that you would want to, but if you right click the images and select properties, the real link appears. If you highlight that and paste it into your browser's address line, you can see me. As long as you don't work for the government. Seems Photobucket is guilty of being anti-American or something.

Jonny, it's cuz you pasted in the wrong URL. You put in the action=view URL instead of the direct URL, and since your pic isn't the only thing on the action=view page, it won't translate here. Never take the URL from your address bar in Photobucket, always copy the box that says URL (or img, or HTML, or whatever it is you need)
Hope that made sense.

ZOMG! I've been punk'd! Photobucket added another type of file sharing while I wasn't looking! Instead of the usual "URL Link", "HTML Tag" and "IMG Code", I find the added "Share URL" at the top of the list where "URL Link" used to be! Nice. Well at least I can fix the pix now. Thanks Rose. I never woulda looked without your input!

Whew. Life goes on. Imagine if we couldn't 'bucket! Speakin' of which I believe we're all waiting for your latest brainstorm from last night...

You made sense. But something's up either with Photobucket or FFF.net or my computers. (no, I'm not rich; I mean my work computer at work and MsQ's work computer at home) Since we have two different computers having the same problem, I'm thinking that's not it. I did copy from the URL box (initially; as a last frustrated resort I did copy the URL directly from the address bar). That would make me think Photobucket is acting up. Except for one thing: the text of the URL I copy and paste is not the same as the text I read when I edit the post.

This is getting way too long and technical for here. But ya understand my problem?
