A point of light appears in the Sereni-Treecommon room. It expands to become a ring of fire surrounding a dark void, perhaps two meters across. From this hole in reality flies a suitcase. It lands on a nearby sofa, to be followed by another, and another. Then Cozen flies out of the dimensional portal. Finally, a group of people including Jadehand and TheRealMe step out. TheRealMe waves his hand and the portal to Dragon*Con disappears.

"Greetings, we have returned... uh, most of us anyway. And we have made a surprising discovery! Apparently the Fox executives responsible for organizing and planning the promotion and showings of Firefly years ago did indeed lose their jobs in the television industry. Sadly for us, it seems that they found empolyment as the organizers and security staff at Dragon*Con!"

Yes, Needy had an friend that followed him around, talking about his great destiny. It took the form of our own CallMeSerenity, though it was not her as Needy percieved them in the same place at the same time (I think).

Our Serenity, by the way, has beautiful blue-white wings sprouting from her back, and she can use them to fly. Her young daughter Seraphina has similar wings.

In any case, nobody but Needy could ever see the invisible Serenity-image. In fact, we never knew it existed as it only interacted with Needy.

Of course, a reasonable alternate explanation was that Needy was barking mad crazy.

We last saw Needy during the Second Gala Pageant.

True some of those characters are on here too, but theres a reason Needy's not been doubled

Needy's still seeing the shapeshifting Being (that appears to him in the guise of Serenity), but other than that, he's quite different now to how he was on the Sereni-Tree. He's... a bit darker.

Many wanted this Sereni-Tree thread to be lighter so, knowing where the story was going, I kept him solely in the spin-off thread.

Okay, for those lost, here is the situation:

Our star ship Sereni-Tree has arrived at Zanzibar (a planet of medieval technology where magic works) and has established itself in a synchronous orbit over Puffenstuff’s School of Sorcery, a place where all of our Potter clones, herded by Mai, Seryn, and Bluefishie, might be taught magic. One of the Potters has a magic wand that has gotten all glowey.

Sereni-Tree’s pilot, Bride5, kidnapped Cozen and took him down to Zanzibar in a shuttle for a little private vacation.

Utilizing dimensional portals created by TheRealMe, some of our number went to Dragon*con, spent a pleasant long weekend there, and returned. Cozen was one of these, much to Bride5’s annoyance.

Meanwhile, ScorpionRegent is ready to pilot another shuttle from Sereni-Tree down to the surface. Among the passengers are Browncoat2007, Seryn, Mai, a variety of Potter-clones, Chicken-man Number 13 (currently in the form of a chicken), Sir Kei of the Octagonal Order, and a bag carried around by Kei that contains an unconscious Jazaf, another Knight of the Order and also one of the Immortals. The reason for Jazaf’s inactivity is unclear; perhaps he is merely a very deep sleeper.

Someone seems to be playing with the minds of both Sir Kei and Browncoat2007. Kei hears someone talking to him, and he is doing his best to resist. BC07 believes that he has already been landed in a Zanzibar forest clearing and has experienced someone or something trying to take control of him. This has caused him to go all feral. Alternatively, perhaps ScorpionRegent DID pilot BC07 down to the surface while simultaneously waiting back on Sereni-Tree to ferry others down, too. It would not be the first time, I’m sure, that the time- and dimension-hopping SR was in two places at once.

Finally, Wytchcroft (no doubt some intellectual Zanzibarbarian) had been providing helpful and insightful tidbits of knowledge to us.

Oh, yes, and our own Jake7 has the superpower to confuse and control chickens, and she has volunteered it if needed. This is significant not only because of the chicken-human hybrids created by the Immortal Alatariel, but also because there are no horses on Zanzibar and their knights ride around on giant, fire-breathing space chickens.

Deep in the forest, Kronk finds a funny new house in a clearing that he knows. Well, Kronk knows the clearing. Kronk does not know the house. It is a house made of metal. Kronk has never seen a house made of metal. But Kronk has seen houses made of stone. Kings live in those. And Kronk has seen houses made of wood and mud. Farmers live in those.

Kronk has never seen a house made of metal. Not before THIS house. It is a special house.

Kronk sees a Tiny Person next to the house. It is a Tiny Person woman. Perhaps it is her house. She is talking, but there is nobody else there. Perhaps she is talking to Kronk? But she does not face toward Kronk. Perhaps she is talking to the house? Kronk has never heard of a house to be talked to.

But it is a special house. Kronk scratches his head.

The woman is very pretty. She wears a short dress. She has a nice figure. She has long, straight, shiny black hair. She has amber colored skin. She has eyes that are different. Her eyes are shaped like almonds.

Kronk likes almonds.

Quincey finishes packing away the picnic lunch that she had prepared in the secluded forest clearing. She stores the large umbrella, the pair of folding lawn chairs, and cooler full of beer back into the unnamed stolen Alliance shuttle. She touches a control on its smooth metallic surface and the cargo hatch slowly closes.

All the while she mutters to herself.

“…And here I have this nice little vacation all planned out! Just Cozen and me. No other people. No other distractions. We have food. We have beer. We have privacy. We have explosives. Something to make him feel sorry he deserted me!” She presses a control to activate the device. “Something about all the wild, fun times I’m having down here with some big, dumb…”

Suddenly, Quincey hears something very large moving through the forest. It is close. Quickly, she spins around to face the cause of the disturbance, but she is not fast enough. She screams and drops her com-link as she raises her hands to ward off the attack.

Moments later the clearing is empty except for the locked shuttle, Quincey’s com-link on the ground, and gigantic footprints in the dirt heading off toward some nearby mountains.

OOC: *wonders if FlowerQuest 1 and QuinceyQuest 2 are related.

*JadeHand looks down upon the surface of Zanzibar from his quarters remembering the last time he was here. The relaxing weekend, or was it longer, that he spent hovering over the surface of the ocean in Ocean Cloud, his custom shuttle. It was a pleasurable experience, one he's far from opposed to repeating. He takes a large satchel bag from his closet, packs a few books, his magic name tags, His laser pistol taken from a Blue Hands back on Boros, some of his favourite CDs, including, of course, lots of Marillion and Bedlam Bards "On the Drift". He then stops by the kitchen. Here he packs a large basket of fruit and simple sandwiches as well as several gallons of potable water. He stops by the brewery and checks the tanks to make sure the Tree has a reasonable supply of brew, and grabs a 1/2 full 1/4 keg of cider for the Cloud.
He heads to the hanger bay and loads up the shuttle. "All aboard", he whispers to himself as he climbs aboard and heads for the pilots seat. *

OOC: QuinceyQuest2 and FlowerQuest1 might be related after all. I don't mean to pick on Quin. I love all of the Brides equally. It's just she was a dangling plot thread down on Zanzibar after Cozen went to Dragon*Con. I could have her fly her shuttle home, or... have something interesting occur. Besides, we have not had much in the way of Peril since the FemaleReaver and the Raid on Reaverworld.

With all three of Sereni-Tree's designated pilots unavailable or missing, the call gets routed from the bridge to TheRealMe in his quarters. He stirs in his bed, still recovering from Dragon*Con. But he manages to slap a control on his com-link acknowledging the departure of the Nelson, then rolls over and continues snoring.
