PHOENIXROSE

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Time for a new addition to the ongoing saga of Browncoat purdyness!

If you're so inclined, please post a picture of yourself so we can all see who we talk to here

How to post images here: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=5&t=29479
(Short version: Image must be hosted somewhere on the internet and all you need is the URL. Photobucket, imageshack, and flickr are your friends. See above-linked thread for further details, or click 'reply with quote' to see how others have done it.)
Also, PLEASE NOTE: the tutorial thread is an excellent resource and we don't want it to get overloaded and weighed down. Please test your image posts in one of the many 'test' threads scattered over the board, particularly out of the way in troll country, or start your own to help keep the tutorial nice and easy to load.

Most recent picture thread: http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=11&t=32487

Index of all past picture threads and sub-picture threads: http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.asp?b=11&t=27728

In the last several threads we've started doing something a little different. For those who want to participate, we're coming up with little themes for everyone to give us their interpretation of. Following the theme is not mandatory. (but it can be fun)

No theme has been suggested, but here I am eating a chocolate heart.

Post, comment, chat, have fun!

(Thanks Steamer!)

Wow, it's been a long dammn while since I made an appearance in a picture thread. Too long if you ask me.

You won't find a theme from me, sad to say :(

I'm afraid you are mistaken magda, I was in Florida at the time that photo was taken. So it was a about two weeks later that D*C.

I am so sorry Navy... I really ought to have spotted the difference in what you were wearing... errr... no I mean the length of your hair... Yeah! It's so cool to see you though Little Scottish Brother!

Steg: I am so very glad you weren't in that car at the time - you are right, this too shall pass, but know that in the mean time your browncoat family are around to support you, emotionally and so forth, I mean - I suspect most of us are too broke to offer financial support!!

EC: Hi - Welcome - those are awesome photos and thank you so much for jumping in and joining us! We love meeting new folk - they all got their stories... *ahem* I mean - it's really good to see you and your talent! Keep up the posting - I suspect I am going to enojoy it!

Hey there BTF We have missed you - and I understand why you were otherwise preoccupied - I am sorry about the recently ex-factor... There are many folk here who found family in times of heartache though... We love you and we know she is certifiably insane to have let you go...

Sorry - no new pics for me - but I fully expect that will be remedied in a few weeks when I am in the arms of... I mean... *ahem* I am in the USA! Yeah... in the USA!!

No need to be sorry Magda. I don't regret what happened, it was something of a mutual decision that was a long time coming. Fact is, it simply wasn't worth the massive effort I was putting in and things were tailspinning out of control on the whole trust issue. it's a long and complicated story so I won't detail it here.

Suffice to say, it's nice to be missed and welcomed so lovingly back by such beauties.

Piccy?

Don't know if I've posted this one before, but I figure a little backstory is required. New Years Eve was spent with myself and five of my closest friends on Bondi Beach partying our guts out. On the way there, we walked past a bar that had a bouncy, squishy floor outside it's door instead on the usual concrete sidewalk. On the way back, we decided to dance and play on it (yes, the folly of youth), so this pic is my friend Ella jumping up and down on some squishy floor somewhere in Sydney...

You know, Mags, you are the first person to even mention financial aid. I never even thought about that, but thank you for the thought! One side note about that (which is why I'm even touching this particular point) after all is said and done, the insurance company is paying off the vehicle, but after they do that, I'm still left with $3200.00 owed.

So here I am scratching my head, just worried to death where this money is going to come from. Then I realized what it was for. The warranty that I purchased. Insurance won't cover that. However (and for those who live in California and Nevada, pay attention to this) I am owed a pro-rated refund on that warranty. In CA and NV there are laws in place that require the warranty company to pro-rate a refund based on the amount of unuseable time on a service contract. The warranty company won't tell you this, the insurance company won't tell you this, and the loan comapny won't tell you this. You have to know the law or read the fine print in regards to your state.

So YAY ME! :) Oh, and I bought an '04 Dodge Ram 1500. I can pick it up on Thursday. Not as nifty as my Durango, but a decent vehicle none-the-less.

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

And HK, you're still a doll.

There is a strange perspective to those pics Roxy. Seems memory alters our perspective a bit in strange times.

On the lighter note of dread...
...I am a sneaky bastard and folks are finally learning that a large man is even more scary when suddenly you are on his bad side. Get to giggling as muppets jump when encountering this view:

Usually I'm behind it donning an OD green mask with the same camo netting in the background. Apparently very Predator like in the night.

I'm not evil. I just come off that way on the field.

Hi. ^^
Sure, but first! You must tell me what sort of camera you use! ((so demanding))

Um, as for actual fabrication of components from base metals, I did no such thing. I don't exactly have free reign in our machine shop. (yet. mwahaha) I have a large pile of antique pocket watch movements and parts, which I tend to cobble together to make some... things.... Here are some more shots of it:

She started out as an empty case, and I just added from there. There might be some larger views on my flickr page, the address for which should be in my signature, assuming I remember to include it. XD

Very impressive HK! I've always been a fan of mechanical movements, wear one daily in fact.
I've managed to disassemble a few, but getting them together & working again has eluded me.

Yes, I do so love Teh Gearz. I carry a pocket watch of some form or another with me most times.

I've actually been able to get them back together and working. The trick is with the jewels - if they're dirty or scratched, or you can get the pinions into them, you're f***ed. Well, and then there's the problem of the itty bitty things that you didn't know where in there that go flying off when you take it apart, and that you wouldn't even know existed if it hadn't been for the tiny blur going past your eyes and the nearly soundless "plink!" when it hits a hard surface... ((giggles)) such a smart grasshopper. ((pats Kelkhil on the head & musses his hair))

i simply don't have the machines or tools available to make working pocket watches. yet. the components used are so finely machined that there's no room inside a working watch movement to modify it the way i want to without messing up the workingness of it. not to mention i don't know quite enough about how to keep them working once i get them together... =(

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

*glomps Roxy again*

It is a great piece of art, Kitten.

*wants the mutant rabbit kitten*

I don't have anything for memories...
But I do have a new experience...

I've never gotten roses before

I don't think that being cautiously ashamed, or selectively ashamed, or in any way ashamed of who I am is any way to live my life.
