Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

No, not what you think. But photos are being posted, so I can't resist one of MY "baby":

Had to give up my beloved Nighthawk 'cuz I got carpal tunnel and needed a more "lean-back" bike, but I have to admit I'm now in love with my shiny new Shadow 600. Unfortunately then I broke my right wrist badly (two surgeries and it'll never be "right"), but by gawd, I've ridden for 44 years and won't stop until I'm too old and infirm to get my leg over!!

"I don' wanna pickle, just wanna ride my motorcicle..."

Any other Browncoats out there ride?

Well, here's Jane. She's my wife's baby, but she shares and lets me ride her once in a while:

Unfortuantely, due to economic conditions, we have to sell her. When my wife goes on maternity leave, she will lose her job (she hasn't worked for 12 months this time around for the state, so she's not elegible for FMLA) so we just won't be able to afford her with a newborn. I will cry the day someone picks her up.

Boy, I would cry, too, she's beautiful! What CC and make?

She's your wife's? Huzzah. When I was young, sometimes male car drivers used to actually try to run me off the road, believe it or not (damned testosterone and male ego!). Now, there are women riders everywhere. For years my moto was "WOMEN OFF THE BACK: RIDE YOUR OWN!" So glad to see times have changed!

Well, she's an '07 Dyna Super Glide. She's fairly stock, so I'll just link a page if your curious... Hee hee

Personally, I hadn't ridden since '91. My last ride back then was my father's Gold Wing, and it just wasn't "as cool" as the crotch rockets others were riding in the Marine Corps.

When she offered for me to ride Jane, my wife was opening a whole new can of worms. I actually HAD forgotten how much fun it was! Now I'll be sad again. But only for a while. At the very least, in a few years, we could possibly pick up a couple used bike at the local dealership!

HUGS Stegosaurus.... that really sucks on the FMLA. I worked long enough for that, but not long enough to build up much sick leave so we feel your pain... dratted money
But hey... BABY!!!!

Ahhhh, a Hogley, no wonder she's so beautiful. So do you wear "penis helmets"? I thought that was de regure for Hogladites

Well, Shadow is a pseudo-Hog, kick-back bars and low seat, which is one reason I got her (tried several, but she was the only one that I fell in love with). For my carpal. The only downside is she's a 600, as opposed to my old Nighthawk 650, and she's chain drive--I fell MADLY in love with shaft drive, and loved Hawke to death, but the seat sucked--flat!--and in the end I had no choice, as she required leaning forward a bit for the straight handlebars...sigh...

That shaft was sure smooth; not as good on speed through the gears, but man, could she CORNER! She was a 6-speed; Jim just got back from riding Shadow (he had a flat on his 900 last night coming home from the City) and came in beaming "she sure rides nice..." Yes, she does.

Always loved the look of Hoglies, but thought they were built crummy; always HATED the look of Beemers, but thought they were built like brick shithouses!

As to Gold Wings, I always looked at them and thought "get a car!" Seemed to me something that piggish, might as well drive a car. Tho' I did have a full faring on my Honda 550 years ago, but that was because I used it for errands and marketing (could get 4 full bags of groceries on her, with the box on the back!

{{whimper}} I wanna ride!!! sigh...
