Well, I have 2 idiots I have to 'work' with and they think its a flipping 'social f-ing event' to come to work. Both are under 25 and have been here for TWO YEARS! and THEY STILL DON"T KNOW THEIR F-ING JOB!!!!!! I come in after them and I so so tired of cleaning up their mess, they bring TV's to work they got caught with a Play Station on the work PC, should have been fired then, but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, give'm another chance! They come in, play on the computer, go pick up lunch or have it delivered and then eat and then they talk about everybody else that they don't like, oh and maybe lets take a nap and oh its time to go home and I didn't have time to 'finish' my work so I will leave it for 3rd shift.
For 2 f-ing years 3rd shift has 'cleaned up' their crap and we are tired of it! I hope the 'talk' I had with HR on Friday morning will help.
Thank You, I feel much better now,

well, I'm glad SOMEbody feels better!... Ya know ever since that time where FFF.net was shut down a while back it seems the general discussion room(in particular) has gotten a little stodgy... I 'member when I first started comin' here, it seems there was always somethin' fun happening- contests and funny threads written by slaphappy people and River wannabee's. Virtual browncoats and cups of mudders milk and earl-grey-green tea handed to all newbies... people in general seemed happier to be here... Am I alone here in this feeling???

I'm just pissed off in general. You name it, it probably pissed me off at some point. Right now it's my craptop, the touchpad just went monkeyshit crazy and deleted half my rant...I hate the gorram touch pad!
The Discovery Channel pisses me off too. They can fill an hour with blathering and never say a gorram thing. WTF? Do I have time for this nonsense? Just say what you gotta say already!
Most of all, I hate the bastards who took almost all the Firefly episodes off of HULU...

Wow, I feel better now too.

Well, justa small update...

Birthday went O.K. Not tooo much excitement can happen on hump day anyhow. I dove into my cake first thing for breakfast, hedonism-style. Hubby came home with my fav- Strawberry Champagne! Pretty sure if Kaylee had a fav drink, that'd be it. Got a nifty new spice rack and immediately set cleaning out the old and in with the new... Already got new recliners for living room last week (yay!) Spent the rest o the day in the glorious sunshine and warm winds MOWING THE LAWN!!! My mom then called and began whining about not having any family around even though she's the one who moved to Fl the MINUTE I got preggers? ... Anyway, went to Subway with Family and ate 'cause I'ze too tired to go anywhere else, and now you can jest call me Mrs. Fancy Pants now, 'K 'cause that how I roll >>> sheesh! Anyway I survived...

So the lawbreakers part?.... I just spent the evening taking my 85 yr/old granny shopping,( 'cause she has macular degeneration and no longer feels comfy driving in the big city anymore) anyway I was driving home a different way when when I hit a speed zone that went from 40 to 60 in a very short space and was only a few feet after the 60 when I got a ticket going 54! and was honestly so focused on trying to avoid this area where the road had collapsed and they put a speed bump IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY that I had no idea how fast I was driving ..... Does anybody know how to beat an unfair traffic ticket? or know any lawyers that owe you a favor? Please help!!!

Double check the speed limits; I'm fairly sure there are federal guidelines that preclude them from dropping the limit more than 15mph in a short space. You have to step the speed limits down - 70mph, 55mph, 45mph, 35mph, 30mph, etc. It's supposed to help lessen the likelihood of a speed trap. If it went from 60mph to 40mph in one drop, that should be illegal, and get your ticket - and every other one written in that area - thrown out. Look into it.

On the other thing, though, if the speed limit drops, you aren't allowed to start coasting down to the new speed when you hit the sign stating that speed limit - that's the speed you're allowed to be going WHEN YOU REACH THAT SIGN. Oddly, it doesn't work the same way when the speed limit goes up. For example, if you're going from a 70 zone to a 55 zone, when you hit that 55mph sign, you can't be still doing 65mph and slowing down. You have to be going 55mph, by law. However, when you go from a 55 zone into a 70 zone, you're not allowed to be going 70 when you reach THAT sign; that's the point at which you can START accelerating.

Sucks, huh?

Meanwhile, you can try to fight the ticket and hope the cop doesn't show; that's a coin-flip's chance, but it happens. I've gotten tickets tossed before when the cop didn't show up to court, but if he DOES come in, you're probably screwed. Or you can do the defensive driving thing and keep it off your record, OR you can ask for deferred adjudication and try to keep it off your record that way (might work, might not, but you have to try; worst they can say is "No"). Or you can hire a lawyer and pay him to shred the cop's credibility.

You have options. None of them are really cheap or easy, but all are out there. Good luck with it.

Mike

I'm thinking if it hadn't happened in a different state, I might tip off someone I know about that little "anti-speed-trap" rule.

Well, if you can't fight it... Where do you have to direct payment to? If it's the city, it's not going to be the police department who has to sort it all out, it's going to be some poor clerk jerk.

I say pay the usual way by check... But leave a wheelbarrow full of pennies at the precinct responsible for the ticket. It'd be super annoying and I don't think they can charge you for anything.

1. Facist pencil pushers who spend most of their time figuring out ways to "get YOU, the criminal" and they just want you to bend over and take it like a good little sheep...

2. Beware of anyone calling themselves an "expert" on anything -especially babies... Every baby is a totally unique creature and the only "expert" is YOU! the primary caregiver... If you are having a problem creativity is the key. Find out the child's motivating factor and find a fun way to USE IT BABY!... My seven yr old is totally money motivated, last year she didn't even want to read at all until we started bribing her, and I got test result today that said she reads like a third grader! YaY! Hmmmm... Supreme Court ruled at one point that police COULDN'T arrest a man for warning people about a speed trap ahead, if memory serves. Can't recall the case law, but I remember reading about it. Darned fallible-only-semi-eidetic-memory!

And yes, I have indeed uttered that it's not the people flying planes into buildings I have the biggest problem with; it's that they're flying their planes into the WRONG BUILDINGS. Hellooo-oh - Goldman Sachs HQ, anyone? ShittiBank?

But that would be wrong. So I bite my tongue instead.

I *DO* think you can go out and warn people about the bump and speed trap. I think that's totally called for and legit.

Way it was explained to me, that sign marks the BEGINNING of that particular speed zone. So a 70mph sign means that, starting right there, you can accelerate to 70mph. If it was a 55 zone before that, you can't go over 55 *UNTIL* you get to the 70 zone. However, if you're going from a 70 to a 55 zone, the 55 sign means the 55 zone STARTS right there - so you MUST be down to 55 at that point.

Who makes those rules? Legislators. They are well versed in doublespeak and double standards, and rarely required to obey the laws they pass for us mere peons.

So remember, when you're feeling so small and insecure
How very amazing and unlikely is your birth
And pray there is intelligent life somewhere up in space
'Cause they're so buggered ALL down here on Earth !

Also, heard a nice country song the other day; "Pray for You" by Jaron. It's...ummm... cathartic?...
