America loves a winner!

A friend's child gets sick and ends up in the hospital. Something happens to a family member. You feel connected, emotionally invested, and feel like helping out. Those sorts of things are easy to understand.

But what about a cause to which you have no real personal connection ? What is it that draws you in , to adopt something which really has no direct tie to you ?

Just a curious thought, is all.

I think most people identify with things they can relate to personally on some level, however remote...I feel for ALL kids who have been kicked around because I know I was and many around me were and I know how terrifyin' it can be and how totally powerless they are. I don't have to be a kid to get that. I also think some people get into causes for that feeling of moral superiority or out of an emotional need for control, either of themselves or others. Having an entire group of people to eternally justify your thoughts and actions is a drug, I'm sure.

I miss the days when there was actually discussions on the main board...

I know there are soo many thousands of confirmed Browncoats out there....where they heck are they?? You'd figure the newbies would still wanna blab...but then we've got thousands of old threads to poke around in and I don't think there's anything ain't been discussed...

And then there's the "Not too much going on right now" thing... that's a biggie....

Social Networkng I blame for my absence.

That and raising a child, having a life, trying to stay sane.

Strangely I have this site and it's creator to thank for that yet rarely drop in.

Reason #5. I'm an ungrateful a-hole.
