In short, it was the way movies are SUPPOSED to be – makes me want to get a new space battle game for my PC! (Any suggestions for that, BTW? Only the best, please..)

Do you mean you're going to see 'Attack Of the Clones' for the first time, or the IMAX version for the 1st time? Well, either way, I think you'll have a good time. Have you heard of the game "Hegemonia" for PC? I'm really curious about it - the screens are breathtaking. Do you play RTS games?

Oh, I really like Attack of the Clones. Have the DVD. I'm talking about the IMAX. There aren't any IMAX theatres close to where I live, so I have to wait till Saturday when I go home to see it with my family. Yeah, we've been planing this since I read the press release on it months ago.

Tell me, since there is a 120 minute cap on the length of IMAX films, they had to edit down the length of the film. How did the cuts work out for the flow of the film?

And now for an idiot moment: RTS???

wow, I didn't realize they had to edit it down... in fact, I don't think the IMAX version was any different in length from the original... but if it was, I guess you could say it was edited quite well!

RTS means Real Time Strategy. This is the one I'm interested in - Hegemonia: [url] http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/hegemonia/ - it looks amazing, doesn't it?

Coooool. I'm not a big gamer, but those are the kind of games that I like.

D/L the demo and played it.

The visuals are pretty good. They could
have done a bit better with the demo though.

I am going to compare it with HomeWorld -
by now a 3 or 4 year old game. HomeWorld's
demo sped you thru about 4 "lessons" of gameplay
handling really quick, then pretty much thru
you right into game play scenario. Getting
you quickly into the game was great.
Gameplay in Homeworld is quick. You needed
to be able to size up the situation quickly
and manuever your units - In homeworld
you can also manipulate and command down
to a single ship. Mistakes are realized
quickly as they usually lead to a fairly
large massacre of your units.

Hegemonia's game play was unbearably slow.
The scenarios also confined you to a fairly
closely scripted gameplay (more than once
in a certain scenario, it told me that I
couldn't attack a certain installation
which led to the game scenario quickly as
I "directly disobeyed" orders. Sorry, but
if I had wanted fantasy, I would have gotten
a scripted fantasy game like... "Myst" or
some crap like that. I like my RTS, RTS like.
Hegemonia also lacked the ability to command
each single ship as its own unit. Instead
you are allowed to only led groups of ships
into suicide runs. Those bastards clean
me out more than once because I couldn't
figure out real strategy since they locked
me into those groups of units.
The biggest fault in this game - for me,
is the close scripting. It might have
just been the demo. So if someone actually
buys the actual game, let me know whether
this is still true. Tell me that it's
actually a pretty decent game.

Meanwhile, I will be playing HomeWorld
and Cataclysm. Both great games.

Well, I saw the Imax Star Wars... and coooooool. And almost as cool was how they cut the film to length. The film flowed better for the most part, because they cut out most of the stupid, superflourous parts, namely: A) Most of the Skywalker / Amadala crap, and B) Jar Jar. Much like the Phantom Edit, he only apears the bare mininum of times to convey the plot. Mmmmmm.... less Jar Jar....

And have you guys seen the poster for Imax Star Wars? Very nifty. It has a retro look, and like all of the Marketing of the movie after its initial release, it centers on Yoda holding a lightsaber and looking badass. "Size Matters Not, Except on an Imax Screen."

You betcha.

I don't think so, but since I never thought to look for it before, I don't know for sure. Next time I watch it, I'll get back to ya.
