FALLENANGEL

I need some help. I need a song that has similar themes to the book "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown, author of the book "The Da Vinci Code". I need a song for my english college class for finals. Semester is almost up and I need some help! The book deals with mainly the conflict between science and religion. It also deals with secrets, codes, anagrams and murder. I just need a song with the same theme(s) as the book. Please help you guys. I really need your help.

Thanks. 'Preciaite it very much.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I read that, too...very good book.
Musically, you might want to check out Type O Negative, maybe Deadsy. They seem like the type of music that might fit...

Holding until you get back, Captain.

Likely not exactly what you're looking for. But there is the hint of science vs. 'religion'.

This Is The 21st Century By Marillion from the album Anoraknophobia.

...If you could only see what I've seen with your eyes

A wise man once said
A flower is only
A sexual organ
Beauty is cruelty
And evolution
A wise man once said
that everything could be explained
with mathematics
He had denied
His feminine side
Now where is the wisdom in that?

I came just as fast as I could
Through the dirty air
Of your neighbourhood
Your name on a grain of rice
Hangin' around my neck
And a head like lead

This is the 21st century
I heard everything they said
The Universe demystified
Chemicals for God
This is the 21st century
I heard everything they said

A wise man once wrote
That love is only
An ancient instinct
For reproduction
Natural selection
A wise man once said
That everything could be explained
And it's all in the brain

We lay on a velvet rug
by the open fire
She blew air on my eyelids
I cried "What's it all about?"
As she kissed my hair
She said "There, there.."

"This is the 21st century
I heard everything you said
The universe demystified
Astronomy instead
This is the 21st century
Can't you get it through your head
This ain't the way it was meant to be
Magic isn't dead
Come to bed
Come to bed

And rest your heavy head my love.."
And slowly, from above,
She showed the answer's something that can't be written down

This is the 21st century
Flash to crash and burn
Nobody's gonna give you anything
For nothing in return
There's a man up in a mirrored building
And he just bought the world

Would you want
To have kids
Growing up
Into what's left of this?

She shook her head,
She said "Can't you see?
The world is you
The world is me."

But you might as well talk to the stones and the trees and the sea
'Cause nobody knows And so few can see
There's only beauty and caring and truth beyond darkness." -Estonia(This Strange Engine) -Marillion

Whoa. How long is that song? It sounds pretty good but I need something a wee bit shorter.

I have 10 minutes to present my presentation so playing that whole song would just take the time away from me explaining how the song theme is similar to the book.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I have no idea if it would be what you were looking for, but there's a song called "Monkeys" by the excellent folk singer John McCutcheon. The MP3 should be readily available because it was never comercially released.
Lyrics:
I went to school this morning
It was the first day of the year
Took out my paper and my pencil
And I opened up my mind and my ears
The teacher said, “Now students take your places
“Everybody settle in your desk
“The first class in going to be science
“Gonna use the Bible as our text.”

Chorus
There ain’t no monkeys in you
There’re none in me, I know
And there ain’t no monkeys in Kansas
‘Cause the school board to me so

So let’s get rid of Pythagoras
Relativity and all the rest
Cause if you can’t find it in Genesis
It ain't gonna be in our test

Chorus

Now, the land is flat in Kansas
As anyone can see
And if the school board says that the world is flat
Well, that’s good enough for me

Chorus

Every culture has a way to see creation
Each religion has a version of its own
So if you aren’t Christian or Jewish
You better hope Kansas ain’t your home

Chorus

I’ve learned that faith is one thing
And knowledge is something else
One doesn’t rule the other one out
As Einstein said himself

Chorus

Now, God gave us intelligence
And God he gave us brains
But I guess he ran just a little bit short
On that school board on the plains

Chorus

I don't remember how long it is, but I don't think it's much over 4 minutes.
