Only problem now, is that I need a can-opener to get to my wife!

The suspenders are self-made...I could not for the life of me find anything that looked like Mal's. Even the military surplus store didn't have anything close. I have to finish them before I decide if I like them or not...but they complete the outfit!

I remember seeing surlpus and repro supenders in the Shotgun News. There is a mutiple page ad for collector, re-enactors and the like. I belive they were fashioned in the manner of a WWI British style. If you have no access to Shotgun News I'll mail ya one.

Mal's suspenders could have been based on quite a number of military styles (depends on which forum you're on!)...and I could not find any of them. As far as the Shotgun News, I pick one of those up every now and then...kinda like a wish-list catalog!

AgentRusco, it will be done before the end of the weekend and ready for shipment by Monday. I have to get the buckles stitched on and then do a general clean-up on the whole coat (loose threads, trimming some seams, etc)...and then, assuming you approve the photos, it will be ready! Thank you again for your order! If you don't mind, once you get it, post a pic of you in it...I'd like to see the shiny browncoat on a Browncoat!

I figured we could use this thread for updates on D*C costumes, too. Shame not to use something created for me by Seryn...

Updates: (no pictures yet...very busy weekend)

Stripes are stitched on Mal's pants. Never realized it would take four hours to hand-stitch stripes...

I have ordered leather and an East German military belt, and all of that should be here by Friday. So, the gunbelt and holster will be taken care of.

I am still working on the suspenders. It turns out I can't find any hardware that looks right, so I am having to build some. The leather loops were easier to build than I thought, and I was lucky enough to find a nice colored leather for them.

The DPR mask is still under construction. I found a cheapo plastic Mardi Gras mask, and I lined the inside with cloth for stability, and will be covering in leather soon.

I think that's about it. Also worked on a Browncoat order, so that chewed up some time, too.

How are everyone else's costumes coming along?

Well, I am rehemming my sari, having used the end of it to fix my choli. And I have to transform my ruined red chinese dress into a non-ruined chinese blouse so I can wear it in the parade. Honestly, no, but I think you have a good chance of getting enough of them to huddle in large masses for pictures. It is my experience that Jayne hats travel in packs. Or maybe it's herds or pods or flinks or flocks or gaggles. Not sure.

The best time to gather together the teeming orange masses would be right after the panels, I would think.

But, if you wanted to try to organize something, I'd contact WickedWren and the SoutheasternBrowncoats. She may have suggestions. Like, we could have an annoucement up at the Fan Table for all Jayne hats to meet at such and such time in such a such place.

DQBaby, I made the coat, the boots, and the suspenders. The shirt is a slightly modified St. John's Bay button-up and the pants are from Wild West Mercantile. I am lucky enough that there is a fabric store near me that carried leather every now and then, so I plundered all the suitable browncoat leather they had!

All the Jayne hats in one place...that's a fun yet scary thought!

A cunning. Yeah, a cunning of Jayne's hats!
Morning, all. I am at my own desk today, so things should be happier, and I should be able to post more today.

Nothing to show for updates; the Browncoats are all done (yee-hah!). I got the leather for my holster in yesterday and started playing with that...may have something done by the weekend. Still haven't finished the hardware for the suspenders, but I did finish the rolled ends for them. DPR mask is still staring blankly at me, waiting to be finished. That's about it. Hopefully I'll have a chance to do some work tonight.
