See, I saw the shirt and figured this was the reason Wash entered flight school... To get far, far away from his kin.

SARAHETC

Once upon a time there was a show called Firefly. Even though the next work that owned the show didn't do much, it spawned a message board before it died. People referred to it as "The Official Board." Many fans found this message board and posted there, discussing the intracies of plot, characterization, and Adam Baldwin's behind. There were a few arguments that were never resolved-- who's behind was more attractive?

Eventually, the greatest television show in the history of the medium fell into obscurity. The faithful layed down arms and lit candles. The Official Board begin a period of protracted vigilance. Not all could live that way, and few expected them too. Off topic threads began to outnumber their previous efforts at discussing plot, characterization and how great Sean Maher looked with no shirt on. Soon they spawned the mother of all off topic threads-- The Serenity Saloon.

The Serenity Saloon became the hub of all social interaction on the Official Board. The "'Loon" as the hard-core Official Boarder's called it, was used as an ad-hoc chat program and refresh buttons across the fandom grew very, very popular. Soon, as is often the case, the Loonies had amassed a large number of inside-jokes, many of them involving alcholol.

This is a photo from their archives-- what a real loonie looks like. Sources at F3.net are close to discovering which individual this might be and whether or the drink is an actual strawberry daquiri or some strange concoction invented by them in the throes of their grief.

So, you're saying this might be the fabled "Arlo" himself??

..or this could be Wash, in his early days at flight school. Maybe this little incident is what inspired him to be 'laconic'.

Other than the cool cold fusion of ice, strawberries and an unknown amount/combination of alcoholic flavors, probably not...

He's thinking that daquris (I can't spell that) are an actual feul. Well, I think it would work on a WWII Russian tank. They could run on ANYTHING!
