Hey All

Well, with the opening of SPIDER-MAN 3, the summer season will have officially started. But even though I will be seeing this along with every single person on the planet on opening weekend, I'm actually more interested in a movie that I'm pretty sure no one will see. It's for a film called LUCKY YOU and is directed by Curtis Hanson, the same dude who working backwards has made IN HER SHOES, 8 MILE, WONDER BOYS and one of my all time favorite and one of the best movies of the 90's, L.A. CONFIDENTIAL. That alone makes me want to see anything that this guy does.

The thing is, this movie has apparantly been sitting on the shelf for two years (I know it was supposed to be out last October), and the trailers have been promoting it as three different things (dramedy, father/son film, chick flick). And it being released against one of the most highly anticipated comic book sequels ever. So part of me thinks that this is going to be crushed. Then again, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA opened against SUPERMAN RETURNS and ended up making a hundred plus.

I dunno. I guess I'm drawn to flicks that I know are going to be underdogs. You know that SPIDEY/SHREK/PIRATES 3 are going to make billions put together. So why not go to something that definitly needs the money, like this or PARIS JE'TAIME or Nate in WAITRESS.

I'm sorry Reginaroadie, I'm probably going to wait to see Lucky You on DVD. I agree it is worthy of my time, I just have to be careful of my cash.

But then, I'll not go see Spiderman3 in the theater either.
