Just a hobby for me, but do you ever read the fine print in commercials? Sometimes they can be hilarious, in the right frame of mind. For example, AOL was running a commercial for awhile where you could get 1000 hours free!!. Just think, 1000, that's one-thousand, hours of surfing, usenet, llamas, and dancing hamsters for FREE!!. The catch---You had to use all one thousand hours within 45 days. That works out to about 22 hours each and every single one of those 45 days!

Yeah, I know, you don't have to use all 1000 hours, but if you are going to give me something for free, I want to use it all up!

Okay, that's one annoying commercial. Does anybody else have an silly commercial?

I'm really bored, and this is the best I can come up with. Everything else is just too serious.

Speaking of AOL, a friend of mine pays nothing to get online. He uses their free hours CD's (those that don't require a credit card) and just gets online that way. When one expires, he signs up with a new CD. Makes me wonder if AOL does indeed have whatever millions of individual users the claim to have.

Ah, that's nothing. AOL used to advertise 1000 free hours in a month!

I really hate those damned SprintPCS commercials. More and more cute ways to say, "Switch to us because we're digital." And their competitors aren't?

There's this theme park in Silicon Valley called Great America. Used to have commercials that said, in effect, "Take your kinds here, it's the only way you can prove you love them."

I hate any commercial that says, "part of this complete breakfast." Yeah, well so is mucus!

I really hated all the pre-premiere promos for The Shield. Made it look like Charles Bronson moves to the South Side. When it's actually as far from other cop shows as you can get. Like Hill Street Blues without the smugness.

One commercial I absolutely love: "Herding Cats".

Yeah, and you're not the first to wonder that. AOL does a disturbing amount of smoke-and-mirrors. Which is how they basically bought Time-Warner without paying for it!

I do wonder why they don't do something to prevent multiple installs, like other trialware does. Maybe it's part of their number-inflation strategy. Or maybe it's one of the many bugs they don't know how to fix!

I had thought that AOL prevents multiple use of free CDs by allowing for a credit card to be used only once per offer -- you would have to use a different card each time.

Not all their trial CDs require a credit card, but from what I hear, some people steal credit card numbers to activate the CDs that do require them.

Oh yeah!!! I love that commercial.

It's just a shame that viewers have to sit through so much crude before they get to the good stuff. Oh, and sometimes the shows aren't bad either.

Some commercials I *do* love are the Gateway commercials with the cow and the CEO of Gateway singing along to "Whip It" in the semi-truck.

Another good one was a commercial I saw a couple times for ESPN's Baseball Tonight. "Eight and sixteen...how did we ever get eight wins?"

Plus any Apple commercial kicks butt.

As for a commercial I really, really hate, it's one for Dodge where this Dodge truck is hauling a trailer and it's trying to pass a Porsche, but it can't. The wife, in the most whiny, annoying voice in the history of commercials, says, "Oh great, another one of those!" It's the only commercial that makes me want to throw a lamp at the television. Or her.

"How will this end?"
"In fire."

This commercial is so completely annoying, and yet I laugh every time I see it. Why? Bad taste? Bad genes? Dunno. It's the MacDonald's one where they're talking about fruit and yogurt parfaits, and she's like, "Am I the thousandth customer or something?" it goes on like that for a while, but what I always - embarrassedly - laugh at, is where she goes:
"Do I get confetti?"
"No, but you can have granola on top."
"Yes!" I know. It's horrible. I love it.

You are strange and offputting.

I absolutely can't stand the miller lite commercial where the two girls are sitting in an outdoor cafe and one says "doesn't it taste great?" and the other girl says "yeah, but I drink it cause it's less filling" and they procede to have a brawl where they tear each other's clothes off, splash into a fountain, and end up in bra & panties in wet cement & the one girl says "let's make out"... grrr. I can't stand that commercial.

Or the dominos dots commercials.

AND I AM SICK TO DEATH OF JOE MILLIONAIRE COMMERCIALS!!!!!

My favorite is the Wendy's chilli commercial...

Customer: "No, I'd like some chilli."

Fast Food Worker: "Yes! I'll get my coat and we'll go to Wendy's!"
