Okay, so I lost a Word Document (re: deleted) and I really need to get it back. Would anyone know how to restore it? I downloaded R-Undelete to see if I could recover it and that didn't really help. Here's the link to where I downloaded it from if that helps:

I really need this document back. It's an essay so we all know how important those are. If you can help, thank you so much.

Oh, wow, that sucks. I've been there. Wish I could help, but I have no clue. Sounds like a job for THEGREYJEDI, if he's on.

Try going to the folder in which the file was and right clicking. There might be an option called 'Undo Delete' but I'm not sure if it'll work.

I hope you have your word processor set to auto save periodically. If you so, you may be able to recover a version of said essay. Maybe not he very last second, but possibly within the last 10 or 20 minutes of work. Your recovery options depend a great deal on your opereating system. you may be able to restore your computer. it would basically reboot to a previous existance. Or you may be able to go thru your trash folder and locate it in there. I often search my trash bin just to make sure nothing is in there that I can't live without. Or just google the opereating sytem, recover, and deleted document. You shouldl find some kind of help.

I wish TheGreyJedi could be of more help. But depending on the version of Word you have, there may be a snippet of it left in the folder you were saving to. See also if it's still in the trash can.

To clarify, my sister was on the computer deleting stuff and deleted the folder where I kept all my stuff. Then she cleared out the recycling bin. So believe me, if it was still in the bin, I wouldn't be panicking this much.

Is there a place where Word might have back-up files or something? Since it does that auto-save thing while you're writing, where do those go? There has to be a snippet of it somewhere, right?

I am by no means particularly good at this type of thing, but my old computer used to die on me all the time, so I've got the big time empahty goin on.

In Word, click on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the File Locations tab.

That should tell you where AutoRecovered docs are saved...hope it helps.

I have used this in the past, and recovered lost files. If you are running Win98 use the FAT version. If you are running Win2000 or XP, use the NTFS version. You may need to run it several times to get the files back, but be patient. Good luck to you!

I tried a couple things you guys suggested, but I eventually gave up and just re-wrote the essay I lost. I actually had some Firefly stuff in my folder too, but alas, those are gone as well.

As for my sister, she actually e-mailed my profs asking for an extension for me. I didn't use them, but it was nice of her to do. I say she owes me, I just haven't thought of anything yet. Though she is letting me play GTA: San Andreas next week on the PS2 she and her boyfriend bought. Hee hee, a whole day of running people over.
