[grin] Is that Vera's little sister?

Thanks though. I've been feeling a bit out of it recently, make that completely out of it, but I feel up to a bit of pondering now though. Don't have much input on marriage, except for perhaps sharing current family troubles.

My sister is 6 months pregnant and she and her partner, who have been together 16 years, have decided to formalise it for the sake of the twins. But they don't really believe in the institution and feel awkward about it so are keeping it as low key as possible. To the extent that she hasn't invited my sister because she comes with a whole family attached. My mum is now terrified that this will start a family feud. I'm not sure whether to bow out to help smooth over the situation or go and see her get married. I can see now why she's been avoiding it. Seems to be bringing nothing but trouble!

They are doing it for the sake of their children, not their families. Everyone has to understand that them making it official is ultimately about the two folks involved. It seems to be a bit selfish of them to leave their families out, but isn't it more selfish for the families to force their way in to the ceremony?

It seems few will be left happy within this situation. I guess just congatulate them on their decisions for us Browncoats.

I'm sure it'll all work out. I'm just concentrating on preparing my indoctrination campaign to recruit the boys when they're born. I have one little Jayne hat knitted already, just the other to go now.

I truly believe there are a multitude that could be the One for you. Trick is finding the right one for you. I believe he is out there. I cannot for a moment believe that such a sweet soul (you virtually ooze honey--that really sounded better in my head...) and so bright a smile, doesn't have a noble sitting in his carriage admiring you from afar. You get the gist...

First a French Maid costume, now a whirling Greek
danseus, and bringing me Sanganaki calling out "'OPA!" to go with my Soulvaki, freshly trimmed from the slow-spinning spit, all the while being serenaded by a mandolin. Yer killin' me, lass.

Ditto on the Ged thing. Saw your name pop up on another thread, too, Ged (don't remember now which one). Where have you been? (If it's on your blog, just point me.)
Whim - 1st. There's a "he"? (of course there was an implied "he" in the ponder, but you know it could have been "your friend".)
2nd. He makes you the good stuff? In the morning? 2a: It's positively sweet that he does something like that. Brava! 2b: What's he doing at your place at that hour of the day, young lady? What are his intentions?

evenin' Imponderables.

Tristan - since it was done so quickly, maybe you need to get more practice/refresher work. I am sure DTH would be up for it if you just asked nicely again.

Hi Emma! Sounds like a bit of a connundrum with the family issues, but I am sure you will get it taken care of, and I definitely second the motion for pictures of little ones in Jayne hats.

Both fair points, but let me just ask a question.
Why do these 'new life, new family' events only apply to women?
Very rarely, if ever, does a man take his new wife's name as a symbol of leaving his family behind and starting a new family with her. And never have a I heard of a man being given away. I said I wasn't trying to start an argument, and I meant it, but it's just something to consider.

Circumstances that could lead to me taking the life of another human being? If I were threatened, and it was kill or be killed (or raped; either one would doubtless prompt me to fight like a maniac) I would do everything I could to make sure I survived. Likewise if tried to kill or seriously damage someone I loved, I would do everything I could to stop it. I wouldn't want to, but I would not sit idly by and let it happen if I had any recourse.
And if I ran across certain people who had already damaged some folk who are very dear to me... I might be tempted. I would probably just walk away, though, what with the possible prison time and all that.

Hi Ged! We've all missed you here!
I've been pondering 'the one' question, too, and I think it really means 'the only person I could see myself being with'. That doesn't have to stay that way, especially if said person passes away, but it can be very powerful. If someone is really and truly the only person you can see yourself with right now, they are 'your one'. This has happened to me once, and it took me some time to be okay with the idea of being with someone else. I had to get over 'the one' before I could find another... er, one. Okay, I'm confusing myself, so I'll just stop here.

Emma! *hugs Emma big hugs* I've missed you so!
It's nice to see some old familiar faces coming back.
Sorry to hear there's some drama in your family right now. If they don't want a big production, that's something I can totally respect, and they should be able to go sign the license and move on. If they feel it's what they should do for their children (I'd be curious to hear why) then that's all it should be about.
That's one of the things with marriage; too many people make a big deal about it. It should be a bigger deal to move in together and share a home and a life, but usually families don't make a big deal about moving day. It's very strange to me.
I'm sure it will be okay in the end. As always, best wishes to your sis and daddy and their little ones! Can't wait to see the wittle Jayne hats.

MCQ

Folks are looking for "The One"? Gee, I thought Neo was the one? Didn't we learn anything from the Matrix, people? Seriously, I have to agree with tristan about if there's one person meant for us and considering how many people occupy the Earth, then how can we be sure to find them? Just because there may be "someone out there for everyone" doesn't mean they'll be nearby. Many of you may have tried long-distance or online relationships and it's not long before you realize that the distance between you and the other person takes it's strain. You miss them, want to be with them, but can only see what they type on the computer, what they say on the phone or see them on their webcams - it's not the same. I speak from experience. I don't know how someone is to know when they met the one. I thought I did at one point but obviously I was wrong or I'd still be with them.

What would it take for me to consider taking someone else's life? Well, I'm a very non-violent type so it would take something very extreme. If someone did me or someone I care very deeply for serious, personal harm. Believe it or not, there have been times where I wanted to rip someone's lungs out but thankfully it hasn't come to that. Good stuff for pondering.

Yes JQ there is a he. We have been dating for a year and a half and spend the weekends together. He is very good to me and I try to be the same way to him. As for his intentions, I couldn't say. We have talked marrige but that is a ways off yet. Things have just been off lately and I've been wondering about "us". Nothing I can put my finger on exactly...

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

First of all... Whimsy... I personally feel that no relationship should ever go along without some kind of serious reconsidering at some point... mind you I am older and more single than you so... Know that we are here for you Honey!

Q... Honey am so sorry - I totally forgot to say thank you for making me grin like an idiot when you quoted from 'The Princess Bride' I love that film - it's one of my pick me up movies and was perfect for this Imponderance! I've missed seeing you around more too Sweetie!

Emma!! I am so glad to see you - you will not believe how much you have been in my thoughts, and I am hoping that these [drama's mean that your sister's pregnancy is going well... I've been keeping you in my heart and in my prayers too Honey!

Ged - I do hope you'll be around in our world a lot more - you have been seriously missed! Please stay...

Hi Little Albatross!! How are you Honey - I am writing you a letter and my 'Mamu' decided to write your boys a Christmas card today - he just had the idea all by himself! Hope those terrifying Space Monkeys are behaving themselves!

NVG I know you're a big warrior and all - but it's huggles all round today!! Glad to see you - hope you're staying 'sane'...

Johnny Q Wow - you really know how to make a girl feel special don't you?? thank you for your incredibly sweet comments... did you notice that my 'French Maid's Costume' photo was taken in 1988 though? I wish I looked that good in a short skirt now!!

Tristan... Just... I was offering to be 'caught up with' and I have a plentiful supply of '3 day kisses' in hot and heady Australia so... I guess if all you desire is the occassional 'quicky' with DTH... go for it!

I honestly cannot say under which circumstances I would be prepared to take a human life - if ever... I am very much a Kaylee, and am so glad that Joss has the insight to write a character like her who cannot pull the trigger when it comes to the moment of decision... but having said that, if a child in my care or for whom I cared was at risk or had been unforgiveably harmed - I think I would have both the wrath and lack of concern for what it might mean to me to do so...

Catch you all later...

RIVERISMYGODDESS

mornin' Imponderables.

To answer my own question (though I did a little when replying to Tristan above) I would kill in a kill-or-be-killed situation, or if anyone was threatening harm of any kind upon my family. There are also several people I know in my personal life that this 'verse would be better off without, and I have seriously contemplated how to pull it off without getting caught (my wife watches a lot of forensic shows, and we also watch Dexter on Showtime, both of which have given me all kinds of ideas).

magda - I meant to comment on the French maid outfit, which was dead sexy. If Tristan won't take you up on the 3dayes, I might just have to.

So we were talking marriage in the last thread and I have an imponderable that relates to that issue in a way. If it has been asked before please forgive. When you are in love do you think you'll know if they are "the one". I know that love takes work and is not at all like a fairy tale but when should any doubts be taken seriously?

"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle." http://whimsicalnbrainpan.blogspot.com/

In my experience I love every girl like they are the one. And then It hurts every time like ive lost the love of my life if things go bad. But from what ive pieced together from friends and family most people dont tick this way, guess im just a passionate guy. I think that if you find someone who is really right for you youll know.

Ok I've got a simple ponderence :

Do you wear a favorite perfume or cologne ? I find that most people stick with a certain scent most of the time . My sense of smell is my strongest sense, so it's something I think about.

Hello Little Albatross! I am about sweetheart and I just sent you another email!!! Mind you it's getting on for 3am so I might make this my last one for tonight!

What a terrific ponderance... a true male/female one too I think...

My everyday fragrance is a Body Shop scented oil called 'Japanese Musk'... I have worn it for years and it is fresh and subtle but very me! When I go out I love to wear 'Paris' though I am almost out of it - I might have to get some duty free next year!!! Also friends brought me 'Tendre Poison' when I house sat for them last year and I really love it! I wore it this weekend to a friends 40th party! I am not a fan of the heavier 'Poison' on me - actually a lot of perfumes don't seem to have the right scent on me... but the lighter, semi floral ones usually do!

RIMG - it's interesting to know that guys use the full range of toiletries with their favourite fragrances - I have owned (but now run out of) Paris soap, body lotion, talc... the works! I used to love the layering of the fragrance which meant it stayed true to it's intended scent and remained fresh!

Ah Tristan that it will be my qing ren! That it will be...

But I must get me to my bed... goodnight dear Imponderers - Hi to MsG, Phoenix Rose and anyone else I missed! Hugs to Q and... oh ... everyone!! Goodnight!!

Hi all:) Yesterday was great. Spent tons of time with my baby sis. took the babies to the zoo( wait til you see the cute pics of them holding hands as they toddled around. Every time we tried to separate them Annie would cry and stretch her hands to Wyatt and call " help me" in her little lispy voice. It was sooooo cute!)

Ok the question of when I would take a life. I'd have to agree with CMH completely. His list pretty much encompassed the situations/events where I would.

Scent- I have a few allergies so I'm not a big fan of most perfumes. I do however love single note perfumes ( available at demeter.com) my absolute fav is sugar cane, but I also like honey. I do love Bath and Body Works stuff and have Vanilla Bean, Apple Blossom, and Coconut Lime Verbena:)

Night my mgda- love you big sis. Sleep well

Thanks, RIMG...I'll keep it to myself from now on. And thanks for the encouragement!

LA29, it's good to be back in touch with you!

Scent...hmm. Normally, I do not wear any (besides soap, water, and deodorant), but when I do put some on, it's usually Aspen.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Vinterdraken, I understand a little of how that feels, to be heartbroken every time you lose someone. I've gone through it a few times. You are not alone
And also it's very good to see you again!
As to scents, I'm boring, I wear rose oil. Tea rose, to be exact. I also have China lilly, lilac, mango, peach, and a lighter rose scent called Venus Rose that I will sometimes wear; the light fruits and florals smell very good on me. Sometimes I will mix just a dab of cedar oil with my rose and that smells surprisingly good on me since I don't tend to do well with the spicier smells.
My nose is extremely sensitive and I simply cannot be around someone if they are wearing too much traditional perfume or cologne. And I can't get 'close' with anyone who's wearing any at all; the chemical smell in it will give me an itchy nose and sometimes a throbbing headache. So I wear oils and like anyone I'm around to be wearing oils, too. I do have a friend who can somehow pull off hints of the traditional perfume, but I think she's an anomoly. Something in her skin neutralizes the chemical or something, it's very strange.
I simply adore scent. Finding the ones that smell right on you is just so much fun for me, and I'm fascinated by how different people can wear different scents well.

Tristan I always love talking to you. There's such drama & romance in those old legends. It's nice to talk to someone who likes them too.

Nighty night Magda ! Sleep well. There'll be a e-mail from me when you wake up !

MSG - I also love bath & body works too. If I were rich I'd own everything in that store.Or maybe jsut keep a whole store to myself.

I'm swooning here thinking of all you wonderful smelling Browncoat men. I love when a man smells nice.

RIMG - I'm not familiar with the Axe products, but I'll take the side of your female coworkers & assume thatit smells yummy on you.I'll seek it out next time i'm shopping !

EDIT : It's something that fascinates me too PR. My skin doesn't keep traditional perfume. I could put on a whole botttle and 10 minutes later nothing. But oils work & don't have that chemical smell that bothers my nose too.

I am more-or-less the same. Once you get past the early flirtation, if you don't think they could be 'the one' (though I don't believe there is only one; maybe 'one of the few' would be better) than what are you doing with them? You can be friends but don't take them down a road if you're not prepared for the whole journey.

On a similar topic, and I know we have a few experienced members on this board, as a logicial reverse to this discussion: divorce? What happens when you find out they're not 'the one'?

Personally, I believe in something a little closer to... well... I'm not sure. Let's say everyone has an 'aura' that is something more than sound, smell, taste, sight... all the senses combined and made out of everything we are. Basically, your essence, soul, spirit. I also believe that we are constantly changing (which is arguably fact) and thus so is our aura.

While many times once you have found 'the one' your auras have brought you so close that you continue in the same direction... sometimes it just doesn't work out. I believe that more divorces end up in worse state than necessary (not that there is anything I nor we can do to change that, it could simply be human nature, not dealing with change and all).

Personally, while I have not been in many relationships (as I said I tend not to go far unless I really feel the love... in my heart) they have all ended well. Simply a parting of ways. Our auras met, we went a ways together, our auras changed (or realised weren't so compatible to begin with), we parted (though stayed friends). Whether that will continue I do not know, but I hope so.

TPage, hello again!
I am one of the divorcees. Suffice to say it is not a good thing to discover the one you married is not "the One".

AS far as the "one " goes I think I have been rather lucky.

I met my husband when I was 15 and he was 16.Since then thruogh good times & even the bad some of you recently saw me through , he's my one & only.We were each other's first everything back then & then spilt up for 4 years.I dated then but as soon as we were put in the same room again we were back together. That was 14 years ago & I'm still in love with him.i'm not saying there might not be another "one " in my future but from what I know he's the " one ".

Of course this is the only area of my life that ever went so smooth !

Good morning everyone!

Not that its great, but I'm still alive. Thats good enough.

Did I miss Mags again. Dang! Thanks for the hugs, always well appreciated.

Scent? I feel a bit funny having to say this. When I get off work GND says I smell good. I don't wear anything but deodorant (I love the powerstripe by the way). I think it may be the smell of tobacco. I usually have a cigarette after work. I feel funny saying this because I've been able to push her to the back of my mind. Kinda like I have nothing to worry about.
Is that wierd or is it just me?

Anyways, how is everyone. Great I hope.

I always wondered about "The One" thing.

Is it who is "The One" at that moment or "The One" forever. I can think of "One" that I will always love, but is no longer the one.

I'm talkin' out my ass this morning. Gotta transport a kid to see a PO so I'll be out for a few hours.

TPage, I really admire your viewpoints and agree completly. If you don't think you can or will stay with someone, what's the point? Obviously, it doesn't always happen, but I always wonder about that thing of "Well, I'm not going to be with them forever, but I like them for now." Never got that, I must say. Well, I mean, I got it, but I never got it. I could never feel that way myself is I guess what I'm saying. I remember the first guy I dated I had the thought "This is kind of a test, dipping my toes in the dating pool; I'm not going to be with him forever or even for long. He's not what I need and I'm not what he wants." As soon as I had that thought, I ended it. Everyone else I've been with (a whole two people) after that have generally had the "I could see myself being with you for awhile" thoughts in their direction.
I wish that mine had ended as well as yours, though...

Eventually, Tristan. Things have been hectic the past couple of days. Right when I was leaving VA, I turned on my cel phone to find a message that a friend of mine may have been gunned down. It turns out that he wasn't, but he needed to crash at my place for a little while. And because he was here, I didn't have time to unpack, clean, etc. I'll get back in the swing of things soon. Thanks for showing so much interest, though, I had a really great time.

Just waiting for the pics CMH. Guys are visual, remember.

Thanks MSG. I might have to pick the kid up this afternoon. I hate "those" rides. Really lonely the last week. Not much contact with anyone outside of family. Didn't get to work on decoys this weekend because one of the tech.s couldn't make it in. So I'll be playing catchup this weekend with little incentive other than the money I might make.

As for this thing about stating my real feelings lately, it seems to be working alot better than holding it in. I just hope there ain't too much mind changin' by GND before she gets back. Really sucks that I gotta wait another week, but maybe its for the best.

Off to lunch. I found Battlefield 2 for eight bucks in the pawn shop at Silver Springs. Probably gonna game for thirty minutes or so during lunch.

See y'all in a bit.

"Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"

NVG - Found this on the way to finding another quote. Might be a little late now as it sounds as though there be inroads where there weren't none before (nice thing about 4 wheelin'), and if it is the case, then take it as reassurance of what you now know to be true. Elsewise, take it as the encouragement it was originally intended to be: Jump in, son, the water's fine.

"The death of fear is in doing what you fear to do." - Sequichie Comingdeer

Edit:
Tristan - I think everyone lost it after that. But didn't "IV" pretend that "III" never happened? (Same route taken by Halloween)

ok CMH- now I'm really curious. Did I miss a battle of some kind? Can't wait to hear stories of this weekends adventures. It'll take my mind off the horrors of antiquing and chick flicks with my sisters that I have coming up...

NV- Hey think of it as building anticipation( sidenote : it is always best to wait until you are in a private room without other people before beginning the ripping off of clothes)

Oh there's a ponderable. Why do people love shopping??? I like buying ( especially online where I can find what I want, grab it, and go and not have to diddle around...what exactly is the attraction of going to 12 different stores and looking at, trying, on 100 things and then maybe buying one thing??
