You know, I just said to hubbs a couple days ago that it seemed too quiet out in the world. Maybe it was seeing too many "Jihadi John" articles, but I figured someone was due for something...
150 people at a concert seems small for extremists, no blowing up buildings anymore?

Fuckin' religions

I bet France kicks 'em out now!

The Pope made a reference to "WWIII," unless it was bad translating. This has been brewing for far too long. Too many alpha males, too many alpha beliefs. It's like ISIS wants to mobilize the rest of the world against them. OK!

I agree with you G. My concern is that all Muslims get painted with the same brush. This has always been my concern. I don't like religion myself, but it is a way of life for many and who knows what the future holds. Hopefully an end to believing there is a here after.

Remember, Nazi's could be seen sitting in churches all over Europe in WW11. Imagine them shutting down the ovens to go to mass on Sunday. Except they didn't shut down the ovens.

It's the Human race that is on trial here and we are guilty.

Sorry, everybody, but I'm afraid the only reazonable choise iz to giv in.

With peeps who are willing to spend all their time, all their money, even blow themselvz up to support their cauze, we dont hav a chans. ISIL ( I'm going with the Obama name for them kuz I figure he must hav a better understanding uv them than most. Plus I dont think https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isis the Ejyptian goddess appreciates having her name copyd by a bunch uv sikopath hoodlumz.) iz seksesfully recruiting yung enerjetic sheepl in every country and conducting a very credible war in Syria and Irak. Even with the combined forsez uv The United States and a passal uv allied countryz militaryz, they are gaining ground. You hav to respect that.

So, realizing that you hav to go to work, do laundry, shop for groseryz, cook dinner, wash dishez, etc etc etc, so in the remaining time in your wakeful day, simply dont hav the time to rezist their dedicated efforts, converting, submitting or wutever they call their nonsens, iz the only sensibl course.

And really, wuts the differens? You either hav Uncle Skam, or Wall Street, or The Catholic Church or sum other relijun riding on your back demanding fealty & filthy lucre, so how coud ISIL be any worse?

I think it shoud be added az a ballot question in next yirz election. "Give in to ISIL, just to stop the violens." YES or NO.

Seriously, wen they get wut they want they will find that running the day to day boring world iznt az fun az they thot it woud be. Most uv them will be remenising about the good old dayz within a 5 yirz!

Sitting in a bland offis cubicle with a 3 ft stack uv prayer waiver request formz to plow thru iznt quite az exiting az running thru the bombed out rubble with your AK47 blazing.

Egad. As the mother of a daughter... methinks it's waaaay too easy for you to say that... You can't just "give in" to the violent and expect it not to continue, it's what they ARE, it's what they DO.

Let it pass or not, you have no say in the matter as to what I post.

Nothing I said was remotely " childish ". Women are systematically used as sex slaves by ISIS, and have no say in the matter.

And in response to the Charlie Hebdo massacre, SecState Kerry did indeed bring James Taylor to a PRESS CONFERENCE to sing a song of comfort and reassurance ... about the most candy ass and pointless gesture this country has ever done following a truly horrific event.

John Kerry laid it on thick after failing to show up with world leaders to march through Paris in solidarity after the Charlie Hebdo attacks. The "Charlie" in the newspaper's name is a reference to Charles Schulz's Charlie Brown.

That's what I love about FFF.net - I will never find your kind of responses anyplace else! This site is as unique as you are!

---------------

OF COURSE all Muslims will be painted with the same brush!

This is the second terrorist attack in France in less than a year. The response to the Charlie Hebdo attack (Jan 2015) was to draw the leaders of the EU together, Hollande, Merkel, and Cameron marching arm-in-arm through the streets of Paris. (Cameron is out of the picture in this shot. See Netanyahu third to Hollande's right, and Poroshenko sixth to Hollande's left? Now THERE'S a rogues gallery if there ever was one!)

or at least posing for the photographers that way! ....

People drew together, at least, enough for the anti-terror demonstration of almost 4 million people. Paradoxically, but as so often happens in times of shock, Hollande's popularity doubled, at least temporarily...
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/paris-attacks-francois-
hollande-sees-his-popularity-ratings-double-in-wake-of-strong-french-response-9988775.html

But this time around, I don't think that fatuous response is going to fly. On the other hand, I'm not sure what's going to happen next. Leaders often try to use national tragedy to further their own agenda, whatever that is. People, being herd-like animals, usually are led by their emotions into going along with whatever the leaders seem to be intent on doing.

The REASONABLE response would be to recognize that, at least as far as the jihadists are concerned, they are waging worldwide war*. Where they have tanks and trucks and mortars - as in Syria- that's what they'll use. Where they don't, they'll use suicide vests and assault rifles.

The LOGICAL thing to do would be to recognize and react to that war and to ally others who are fighting that war - i.e. Russia. But I'll bet you dollars to donuts that those is power (ie those who shoulder most of the blame) in Europe will find a way to blame Russia ... Something along the lines of If Russia hadn't stirred up a hornet's-nest in Syria, we wouldn't be targeted now ... because Russia is the whipping boy du jour, and ignoring the role that Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC, Turkey, the USA, UK and France played in destabilizing the whole region and implanting, arming, and funding Wahhabi jihadists everywhere . And then they'll distract from the conflict at-hand and kick the can down the road. Because war is so .... yanno ... HARD, and Europeans just aren't up for it. They, like Ukrainians, want to sip coffee and stroll the boulevards, and I'm not sure if even this attack is enough to shake them out of their "business as usual" nonchalance.

--------------------
Hubby has a different take. He immediately started tallying winners and losers. So running thru the list of European parties and politicians, in his humble opinion -

FRANCE: Hollande will be the loser. Marine LePen will take the next election.

HUNGARY: Viktor Orban is probably patting himself on the back pretty hard by now for having had the foresight to put up a fence.

BRITAIN: UKIP on the plus side.

GREECE: Golden Dawn (far right) will use this to pad their rolls.

GERMANY: Merkel must be shitting a brick right now. Isn't she the one who strong-armed the rest of the EU into taking migrants without the ability to perform the most basic screening and tracking?

EU/BRUSSELS and the SCHENGEN ZONE- Borders will immediately close, and the centralized entity that enforces the visa-less travel zone will be ignored. This is one prediction I agree with.

-----------------------------------
* I read an interesting explanation about Islam and its dual nature. The Q'uran says several different things on the same topic. Apparently, Mohammed first went to the city of Mecca and preached a religion of peace. He didn't get very far with that message, so he went to the city of Medina and preached a religion of war. He was much more successful with THAT one! The Wahhabists are those who focus on the "Medina" version of Islam. So, like the Bible, you can get whatever version you want out of the Q'uran to justify or excuse your behavior.

France's Far-Right Party Calls For Nation To "Re-Arm Itself", Revoke Muslims' Passports, "Eradicate" Radical Islam

Quote:

If there is one 'winner' from last night's terrible events in Paris, it is France's anti-EU, anti-immigration far-right wing Front Nationale party leader Marine Le Pen. Having already ascended to the lead in yet another poll ahead of France's 2017 elections, Le Pen came out swinging this morning call for France to "re-arm itself," stating that radical Islam must be "eradicated" from France. She further demanded that border controls be made "permanent" and binational Islamists must be depreived of their French passport.

As Bloomberg notes:

*FAR RIGHT PARTY LEADER MARINE LE PEN COMMENTS IN TV SPEECH
*LE PEN SAYS FRANCE NEEDS TO CONTROL ITS BORDERS PERMANENTLY
*LE PEN CALLS FOR PERMANENT BORDER CONTROLS
*LE PEN CALLS FOR 'ERADICATION' OF RADICAL ISLAMISM IN FRANCE
*LE PEN: FRANCE IS 'VULNERABLE', 'MUST RE-ARM ITSELF'
*LE PEN: FRENCH PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER SAFE
*LE PEN: BI-NATIONAL ISLAMISTS MUST DEPRIVED OF FRENCH PASSEPORT

Which is all fine if this was some extreme and unpopular party, but in fact...

Thank you open boarders crowd, in an effort for Democrats to get more votes, and for many Republicans to hire cheap labor, ISIS is bringing their fight HERE! The French let anyone in to show how wonderful they are, now France is closed and at this time a police state. Now even after they lift the curfew, everyone in Paris will be afraid to go out for coffee. If anyone asks me "why do they hate us?" I'm going to punch them in the mouth.

What they should realize is that their leaders DON'T WANT to protect them. Their leaders have other considerations, like keeping the wealthy elite happy and making a lot of money after office. Their Presidents and Prime Ministers aren't some substitute-daddy, lying awake at night thinking of "their people".

That's another issue. I wont' argue for more snooping or a more militarized police.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

In Belgium, raids were conducted in the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Justice Ministry spokeswoman Sieghild Lacoere said. A car rented in Brussels was found near one of the sites of the Paris attacks, and "that's what triggered the raids," Lacoere said.

In all, the raids took place in three homes in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, a Western intelligence source told CNN.

At least one of the raids is connected to the Paris attacks, according to the source, who is in contact with French and Belgian intelligence services. The other raids are connected to individuals known to Belgium intelligence, the source said. Some of the Paris attackers are also known to Belgium intelligence, the source added.

A man who rented a VW Polo used by terrorists at the Bataclan concert venue was intercepted at the border with Belgium, Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said. The man, who was driving a different vehicle when he was caught, is a French national living in Belgium and was accompanied by two other people, Molins said.

One of the terrorists who died in Paris was identified as a 30-year-old French national from Courcouronnes in the city's southern suburbs, Molins said Saturday.

That individual was involved in the attack on a concert hall, had a criminal history and was identified as having been radicalized in 2010, but that person had never been accused of terrorism, Molins said.

Molins said the attacker was identified by fingerprints.

A Syrian passport was found near the body of an attacker outside one of the targeted sites, the Stade de France, according to a police source, CNN affiliate France 2 and other French media reported.

A source close to the investigation told CNN that an Egyptian passport was found on another attacker. "There is strong assumption that these passports are fake," the source said.

So, Merkel's insistence that everyone just take in the flood of people, no questions asked - talk about having that miscalculation blow up in your face.

I was talking to a Greek yesterday evening who's spent considerable time in Paris - his experience was that the French don't seem to be at all interested in security. His other observation was that the N African immigrants from the former French colonies have not only been 'marginalized' - they've been "severely constrained ... ... severely constrained!" into the lowest rungs of society. I guess if you have a hacked-off subpopulation and mix them with people who have the skills, funding and contacts for terrorism, you could create a significant threat.

Btw, because you obviously haven't read anything more than a week old... there are no winners in the Middle East, just losers.

I'll tell you what G. Since ISIS is considered a state entity and since it attacked a NATO country the way it has, I say this is a perfect opportunity for NATO to flood into Syria and crush all unsavory characters and even remove Assad. Russia would be powerless to stop it and the message they would receive would be, step aside little one. We have had enough of you.

Definite candidate for the dumbest thing ever posted on this forum. You're trying to win this award again, for what? The 57th time? Unprecedented!

Btw, because you obviously haven't read anything more than a week old... there are no winners in the Middle East, just losers.

Since you wrote that GSTRING, I discounted it as being ill-informed and childish. Kind of like your equally ill-informed buddy here

Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you guys - you & G........
Since I was a boy (11-12 years old) I always questioned the folly of religion, but it was people, the Human Race, that I had my doubts about. Most religions teach and advocate peace.

I've heard from a number of folks who claimed to have read the Qur'an/Koran (not sure of the spelling) and they say that the beginning talks of peace, but then becomes violent and justifies it because anyone who doesn't submit to it's teachings are infidels. Same can be said of the bible - and I recently watched a video of a pastor preaching fire and brimstone for "the homosexuals" espousing
that in the bible it proclaims death to those who sin fornicating with the same sex. He literally said he would advocate the death penalty for gay people here in the US. He went as far as saying that he was not ashamed to call for this punishment, and that he was not ashamed of worshiping God. And that he would
back the law calling for such penalty, even if it meant his arrest if it wasn't
made into law.

That's serious. He ended up saying that he would not call for such a law to be
implemented. Strange...........but that's religion for you. At least, that's the human part, the emotional part of the believers in the deep south calling for
the destruction and the taking of a human life. I always thought that God was the only one to actually punish sinners - judge not, lest ye be judged - etc.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
— Matthew 7:1-2

There are Christians that do not condemn their fellow man, they use instead the same compassion that Jesus himself used, as described in the Bible.

http://www.notalllikethat.org/taking-god-at-his-word-the-bible-and-hom
osexuality
/

It is a very good and enlightening article that argues the very point I'm trying to make - that man interprets the Bible or Koran as he sees fit, according to his selfish beliefs and influences. Although it's use, scriptures that is, is put forth at times to fit the reader's/believer's agenda. We must take into affect the times and our moral outrage and secular convictions. We here seek out to argue and win over our case against a fellow human who has differing experiences, but too,
social prejudices and feel that "I" am right. At least righter than you. Neither you or I can pass on our experiences to others in hopes that they will see our
point of view. "Walk a mile in my shoes" the saying goes, but until then, I choose
to listen and based upon my experience living in this country, and I will apply it accordingly.

I only condemn religions because humans apply it according to their twisted
beliefs, and use it to oppress others. That I condemn wholeheartedly. What those
sub-humans that call themselves ISIS follow is not even remotely a by-product of
religious beliefs, but the worst kind of the dark and evil thoughts from within
the bowels of the primitive mind. It is time to rid the world of such evil and
corrupted twisted primal acts.

Actually, after having some further thought on the subject.....I do agree.
Man cannot be trusted with religion, it allows for too much individual interpretation. I loathe those that try to impose "their" will upon others who don't think as "they" do. ISIS must be stopped.

Published on Nov 9, 2015
Colorado pastor Kevin Swanson closed out his National Religious Liberties Conference today — following speeches yesterday by Republican presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee and Bobby Jindal — with an extended rant about the many reasons why America needs to repent in order to avoid God’s judgment, including legal abortion, birth control, immoral themes in country music and gay characters in “Harry Potter” and “How to Train Your Dragon.”

All reports indicate that this attack was months in the planning, this did not come from the recent influx of refugees. American intelligence agencies have voiced concerns over the fact that ISIS is using an encrypted form of communication recently developed by private App developers who have stated that they couldn't help in deciphering the encrypted messages, because that's what it's meant to do -
be undecipherable.

Oh, the irony. Modern technology........shit storm!

I'll tell you what SHINYGOODGUY, I look at what is written in religious writings and do not see the wisdom of the universe. I see nothing beyond the understandings of man a thousand years ago. It is plain to see the concepts are mans and limited to our cognitive development as of then. The way these holly books content is explained has improved, but the viciousness, hatred and pettiness in many passages has not changed. The lack of understanding of the Human Condition is front and center. It is all based on basics. What they are, are a lot of passages, (stories and fables) depicting what is known to be good about man and what is know or thought to be bad.

Question SHINYGOODGUY? DO you think the pastor and other gay haters realize that if he and they are to be believed, god creating or let the LGBT community evolve with a death sentence at birth, would make god a sadist? Because being gay in not a choice but instead something in the chemical makeup up the person.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

The way I see it, religions are made of several parts and have several purposes:

They are the explanation of the world the way it is: How it was created, what the various forces mean. Most of the larger religions have some sort of creation myth attached to them, from the Sumerians to today, and even the smaller religions have explanations for lightning and illness and other events that weren't understood by primitive societies. THIS part of religion is an attempt to gain control of uncontrollable, unseeable, unpredictable forces, by appeasing the gods or removing evil spirits. THIS portion of religion is being taken over by science, which attempts to understand and control the natural world.

They have some sort of definition of "good" and "evil" attached to them. They serve as a moral/ ethical foundation of society, to make sure that everyone is fulfilling their role. Usually, the definition of "good" and "evil" is hijacked by TPTB to protect themselves and extend their reign (think human sacrifice and Mayan rulers) and typically has some "supernatural" connection, such as the various kings/emperors/pharaohs being part of an supernatural connection to the otherworld which keeps things stable.

Religions also have "gods" attached to them: supernatural beings, evil spirits, etc.

An explanation of the world, without the element of the supernatural, is called science.

A system of right and wrong, without the element of the supernatural, is called ethics. Whee you attach it to a standard set of rules its called "law".

It's only when you start appealing to forces which you can't either demonstrate or disprove does this system become "religion".

IMHO, the underlying drive of religion is the need to predict and control- either to predict and control the rain, disease, lightening etc ... or to control people. Science has done an excellent job of taking over the first function, but we have yet to truly understand OURSELVES. And so we wind up creating most of our own problems.

Exactly. While jihadists have their Allah, the western world has it's "invisible hand" (See? A supernatural being that you can't demonstrate!) and "market forces" (another supernatural entity!) which they believe are the proper foundation for all of society, and all societies everywhere. Belief in market forces has led to the death and misery of billions of people around the world. Religions which have been captured by TPTB really are the same world over, aren't they?

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Of course it was planned! That was the very first thing I said to my coworkers. You don't just form a suicide group, run out and buy AK-47's, build a bomb and hatch targets, jobs and timetables on the spur of the moment! Hey, I know what we could do tonight!

Sheesh!!

BUT the principal remains the same. If you have a VERY disaffected subpopulation (and the riots happened for a reason) a certain percentage will be radicalized. You can't tell them to trust the system, because the system IS their problem, and it's very obviously not self-correcting. And it almost doesn't matter what the rationale is. So these people are an easy target for any cause that tells them to attack the system, whether it's anarchy, justice, Islam or whatever. All you need to add after providing the cause is money, contacts and knowledge. And that comes from elsewhere. From people who are already in the business.

Think uv sivilization az a co-operativ system thats suppose to benefit all the partisipants. Everybody duz their job and the rewardz get distributed more or less equally, perhaps modified to account for the actual effort sumwun puts in. Cant hav slackerz freeloading on everybody elsez work.

Money iz an invention intended to make the system work better. It de-complicates tranzactionz, gets around the bulk problem, speedz negotiationz and jenerally works like oil in a machine.

Unfortunately, that eazy flow karakteristic also makes it eazy to steal. Huje amounts uv welth can be extrakted from larj groups uv peepl just by leverajing their lack uv money. You can get poor peepl to do almost anything for next to nothing. A parent with 5 starving children will be forsed to admit that its better to sell the baby girl for 1,000$ than to let all 5 starv to deth. In Cambodia, the 1,000$ iz a fortune that will feed the remaining family for a yir and the littl girl will be fed also.

Wut the parent duznt hav the lojik or info to realize iz that they are poor bekuz the same fat old bastard who iz buying the girl haz been plundering the entire area uv its resoursez for decadez. He iz basicly paying for her with the parent's own money.

Its really the same everywhere, even if it seemz 'equitable' - welth iz being jenerated, but most peeps are not getting a fair share. Wherever you see banks thriving and peepl borrowing, its bekuz the system iz not working az it shoud. Work iz not rewarded. Money gravitates to money faster and faster so everybody haz to work harder and harder for less and less.

ISIS Threatens Attacks On Washington DC In New Video

Quote:

As "details" and "intelligence" surface regarding the attacks that left 129 dead in Paris on Friday, and as French warplanes drop bombs on Raqqa, you had to have known it was only a matter of time before ISIS released another Hollywood special to, i) do some more gloating about the "successful" assault on the French capital, and ii) threaten France and anyone assissting them with still more attacks in retailiation for retailiating.

In short, this is an endless loop

Until ISIL runs out of warm bodies

of attack-retailiate-attack-retailiate that, if both sides want it to, could easily end up seeing American, French, and British boots on the ground in eastern Syria, setting the stage for - you guessed it - the final battle for the political future of Assad once the ISIS distraction has been relegated to annals of terrorist history. After all, the West has always hung on to the "Assad's brutality attracts terrorists" line and so, it would be easy enough to claim that in order to keep Syria "ISIS-free," Assad has to go

You probably hav notionz uv 'a fair dayz pay for a fair dayz work'. Thats how thingz shoud be. Its still a viable arranjement in isolation, but considering the state uv the worldz economy, its a joke to amuze rich peepl.

A system haz been created that extracts welth from everybody who duznt hav money and passez it up to thoze who do. It haz bekum so efficient that the rich can aksidentaly 'press the gas pedal' too hard and exeed the ability uv the rest uv us to keep up! Thats essentially wut happened to cauze the collapse in 2008.

Morgaj iz the main devise uzed to pump welth out uv our pockets. But its really everything you need or want to buy. Investorz (welthy peepl & organizationz) will grab a major chunk uv anything that looks like peepl will pay for then uze it to extract az much az possibl. Got an invention? If its a benefit to sosiety, but duznt appear to hav any money potential, buzz off, chump. If its a new salt/fat/sugar snack that nobody can rezist, welkum aboard! Lets see how cheap we can make it and how much we can charj. Who carez if its going to cauze hart attaks?

Maybe we'll just have to disagree. If all the bad bankers were rounded up and punished and all of their stolen money returned to wherever they stole it, none of us are going to see any of it in our bank accounts the next day. Minimum wage isn't going to rise to $25 an hour without a cheeseburger also rising in price. But maybe you have another solution or observation.

Its not just the bad bankerz. Its the entire system. Banks are suppoz to be just the pipes, tanks and pumps that the money flowz thru. Insted, they hav bekum a jiant parasite that drainz money out uv the economy and contributes nothing.

About wajez, you hav to ask yourself this: How much money iz going into McDonaldz every day and how much endz up in the pockets uv the peepl doing the actual work? If you subtrakted all the ownerz, upper manajment, shareholderz and the to CEO, CFO and other C_O guyz, how much coud you pay the workerz without chanjing the prise uv the food?

Now suppoze you got rid uv all the det on the real estate, bildingz and equipment? Another huje unproductiv drain lifted. How much coud the burger flipperz get now?

The overwelming majority uv the money going into McDonaldz, and really all companiez,iz not going to the peepl doing the real work.

And its only going to get worse az automation duz more & more uv the work. In the not too distant future, the entire pay-for-work thing iz going to dry up. Then how do you get money to flow thru sosiety? Everybody who duznt 'own' will be out uv luck and thoze at the bottom end uv ownership will start falling off.

That my friend is the essential problem of capitalism, where people who do the work don't get 100% of the value they produce. So workers can't afford to buy what they make. And owners are incentivised to pay their workers less and less in order to make more and more profit. Automation is the final step, where you have a machine that can go 24/7 and you pay workers not at all.

New Debate on Surveillance Limits

By SCOTT SHANE 9:11 PM ET

John O. Brennan criticized “hand-wringing” over spying and said restrictions on surveillance made it harder to find terrorists.

My coworkers and I came up with a much better solution. You find who's been funding these groups - like Saudi Arabia - and when there's one attack, they lose an oil field. Another attack, they lose another. And so on.

The attacks will stop.
