With no evidence to support the claim, President Donald Trump told congressional leaders that he lost the popular vote due to up to five million fraudulent votes, the Washington Post reports. Trump reportedly made the claim during a Monday night reception with congressional leaders, three sources told the Post. Despite the Trump campaign’s frequent insistence that voter fraud cost it the popular vote, no evidence has supported any of the claim. Post-election analysis found little to no fraud during the election, which saw Hillary Clinton win the popular vote by 2.8 million. Prior to the election, the Trump campaign suggested that Democrats, particularly in inner cities would commit voter fraud, and encouraged supporters to “monitor” those polls, a suggestion some interpreted as implying voter intimidation.

I think you already posted about this in another thread, didn't you?

He probably should stop talking about it. I agree with that. Regardless of what did or did not happen, the popular vote means nothing.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer confirmed on Tuesday that his boss, the president of the United States, is a committed conspiracy theorist.

As Spicer explained that the president believes in the existence of mass voter fraud, multiple reporters noted that just one day prior, Spicer had promised to never knowingly tell a lie from behind the lectern.

But Spicer never violated that pledge. When he came out and said that Trump believes that millions of undocumented immigrants cast ballots against him, he was telling the truth. Trump genuinely does believe it.

All of this creates a conundrum for the press. How are reporters supposed to cover someone who believes in demonstrable lies, least of all a president?

Spicer said that Trump’s belief is based on “studies and evidence,” but provided none. At one point, he mentioned a Pew study as potential evidence, though the primary author of the study has already shot down suggestions that research supports Trump’s claim.

The Press should repeat a hundred times per day until Trump sensibly responds the words of exasperated Republican senator Lindsey Graham who pleaded with President Donald Trump on Tuesday to stop repeating his widely debunked claim that millions of so-called "illegals" cost him the popular vote.

"To continue to suggest that the 2016 election was conducted in a fashion that millions of people voted illegally undermines faith in our democracy," Graham, of South Carolina, told reporters in a hallway of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in D.C. "It's not coming from a candidate for the office, it's coming from the man who holds the office. So I am begging the president, share with us the information you have about this or please stop saying it."

"As a matter of fact I'd like you to do more than stop saying it," he said. "I'd like you to come forward and say having looked at it I am confident the election was fair and accurate and people who voted voted legally. Cause if he doesn't do that, this is going to undermine his ability to govern this country."

I want him to show the proof. I believe that voter fraud does exist and will always exist so long as we don't use photo identification. I have a hard time believing those numbers, but if there actually is proof that up to 5 million people voted illegally, now is the time to show it. If that proof does exist, then we can finally pass a law requiring photo identification and be done with it.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

It's a rough time for women's rights in America, and it's only getting more outrageous: a Republican state lawmaker in Texas introduced a bill in January that would make it legal to charge a woman with murder if she has an abortion. But Tony Tinderholt's defense of the bill, which was published on Monday, is both disturbing and misguided.

Speaking to The Texas Observer, Tinderholt said he hopes that the so-called Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act would force women to be "more personally responsible" with sex. He continued by demonstrating his belief that women perceive abortion as a last-minute contraceptive.

And men have NO responsibility whatsoever. You wonder why feminists HAVE to exist...

Republicans have been pushing voter id laws for what, decades. They go to court again and again and still cannot produce evidence it happens more than a few times each election. And some of those are due to mistakes.

Trump had all his watchdogs out there and he can't produce a list of people who voted illegally. He's either nuts or it's subterfuge. Perhaps a bit of both.

I was referring to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. It's all the Dakota people, but the SRS Tribe specifically are the main people involved.

Separately, late last year, the Army Corps of Engineers declined to allow construction of the Dakota Access pipeline under Lake Oahe, saying alternative routes needed to be considered. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe and its supporters say the project threatens drinking water and Native American sites, though Energy Transfer Partners, the company that wants to build the pipeline, disputes that and says the pipeline will be safe.

Together with the Hunkpapa and Blackfoot bands, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is part of what was known as the Great Sioux Nation. The peoples were highly decentralized. In 1868 the lands of the Great Sioux Nation were reduced in the Fort laramie Treaty to the east side of the Missouri River and the state line of South Dakota in the west. The Black Hills, considered by the Sioux to be sacred land, are located in the center of territory awarded to the tribe.

As part of the ongoing trial, the legal team for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe submitted documents to the court that certified one of their main claims in the case: that the pipeline will pass through and likely destroy Native burial sites and sacred places.

Oil pipelines are not a good thing. People blow them up, they leak, earthquakes... Plus you know beyond building it, it's not going to benefit Americans at all. All it does is line pockets of billionaires. Not worth it.

They give out a lot of Nobel Prizes in many categories and they're still considered very prestigious. The majority of them are well-deserved, honoring new discoveries or excellence in specific fields.

I'd like some evidence, but if anyone wants to be honest, most of what Trump has said and done has completely flown in the face of conventional wisdom, and it's been done quite successfully.

There could be a method to his madness.

Why do you keep up with your lies? Have you proof that the illegal voting did not occur?
They provided numbers to support their claim, where are yours to prove otherwise?

In the following article, 6th paragraph, they point out that 6.4% of non-citizens voted (in 2008). With a non-citizen population of about 30 million, that would be near 2 million just from that set of figures.

Not only is that an article by CBSnews, but it sites a report done by the Washington Post.

Uh-Oh Liberals... You know it's bad when the Washington Post admits that 6.4% non-citizens voted in 2008. The number is probably higher than that since you know the Post would try to minimize that statistic as much as they could possibly get away with.

Has the Republican who investigated Hillary changed sides and become a Liberal? Or does he know something 6ixStringJack doesn't want to know? House Oversight Chair: I'm Not Gonna Investigate Trump's Voter Fraud Claims

“On the voter fraud issue that really happens at the county level. I don’t see any evidence, but the President has 100,000 people at the Department of Justice that if he wants to do an investigation, have at it. I just don’t see any evidence of it.”

When asked if he thought it might be a waste of time or taxpayer dollars, Chaffetz said, "That's why I'm saying the Oversight Committee is not planning to do anything with it."

What is going on with 6ixstringjack? Is he trying to pass the Trump Loyalty Test? This is the T.L.T:

If you want to test if someone is truly loyal to you, ask them to do something outrageous or stupid.

You don’t need to work directly for Trump in order to pass the test. House science committee Chair Lamar Smith, for example, took to the House floor to echo Trump’s complaints about the media, specifically praise Trump for involving his children in his decision-making, and advise the American people that it’s “better to get your news directly from the president. In fact, it might be the only way to get the unvarnished truth.” That sounds like 6ixStringJack.

This is a ridiculous thing to say, and it earned Smith a lot of well-deserved mockery — a key signal to Trump that Smith is a real team player.

On the other hand, some key Republicans are empowering Trump while signaling disloyalty. Paul Ryan was asked about Trump’s claim that illegal voters are what cost him the popular vote and retorted: “I’ve seen no evidence to that effect.”

What’s fascinating is that Republicans opting for these dignity-preserving strategies are not offering any substantive opposition to Trump whatsoever. It would be trivial for Ryan to, for example, work with Democrats to force Trump to disclose real information about his personal finances or engage in real divestment from his businesses. But Ryan doesn’t want to fight with Trump because he believes Trump will sign his policy agenda into law. Objectively empowering Trump while signaling a lack of loyalty to him is a dangerous game, because when Trump’s own position is more secure, he could easily move to depose Ryan at some future time.

The example of Chris Christie — or of Trump University students and Trump Casino Hotels and Resorts shareholders — shows that even true loyalty to Trump won’t necessarily be rewarded.

The quickest way to get voter id laws passed is to prove Trumps point. The republicans have been trying to do that for a long time. The fact that they are never able to show voter abuse says it all Jack.

I'm not saying that it happened on as large a scale as Trump says it did. I said that at least twice here already. It was the Washington Post that said that nearly 7% of illegals voted in 2008... not me.

I said just pass the voter ID laws and give everyone access to free State IDs that aren't drivers licenses so it can't be called racist.

No need to even investigate it.

Once that's done, nobody can bitch about it again.

Aside from that. I agree. Trump should stop talking about it. There is no ROI in pressing it. The popular vote doesn't mean a damn thing.

But if Trump is testing the loyalty of his followers -- only the most loyal will defend every Trump statement -- then it makes perfect sense that, once the illegal ballot story is old news, Trump will have another story to test the loyalty of his followers in another way.

Liberals worry that Trump’s antics are ways to distract the public from potential unpopular elements of his policy agenda.

But Trump has an even smarter strategy to use the very same antics — slamming Meryl Streep, picking a fight with the cast of Hamilton, lambasting the media, lying about crowd sizes — to distract conservatives from his lack of interest in pushing Speaker of the House Paul Ryan's policy ideas. A good polarizing fight with liberal elites, after all, will give Fox News and conservative talk radio plenty to chew over.

Chew on this: the only person who could control a President is second in line to replace him if he dies -- Speaker of the House Ryan. Ryan could force Trump to disclose real information about his personal finances or engage in real divestment from his businesses, but it is a power that only works if it is used sooner rather than later. It is too late after Trump has gotten everything squeezable out of Congress.

I'm sure you'll do more than enough chewing for both of us, but I don't think those are bad ideas. I honestly don't think you're going to find any smoking gun in his taxes, but I don't think it's in anybodies best interest if he keeps running a business while presiding over the nation. That lends to the ability for Trump to do what the Clintons have been doing for years, and that's not good for any of us.

Good luck getting that to happen though if Trump doesn't do it himself.

Ryan is a big pussy.

Let's remember that defaming ( damaging the good reputation ) of democratic institutions including our elections, is exactly what Putin is up to around the globe. That is what Trump is doing whether he realizes it or not. And what would be worse. His realizing it or not I don't know. Each are troubling.

Let's not forget how he was relentless in his defense of Russia while suggesting all 17 intelligence agencies were wrong about Putin's hacking.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Plus the verified 1.8 million dead people which Democraps insist on retaining on the voter rolls, decades after their death - how convenient that they vote in alphabetical order whenever the Libtards need some ballots stuffed.
And I think I heard about millions who are registered in more than one voting ward. Although I am not sure that is a big deal, as long as nobody votes twice per election like the libtards do, and even brag about it on television.

America loves a winner!

California’s voter registration system is “highly susceptible to being compromised,” because of immigration policies protecting the Golden State’s 2.4 million illegal immigrants, authorities have told Fox News.

The integrity of elections may be compromised by a lack of oversight of non-citizens registering and voting, said Hans von Spakovsky, manager of the Election Law Reform Initiative and senior legal fellow for the Institute for Constitutional Government at The Heritage Foundation.

“If you are talking about California, the state is apparently relying on the illegal alien to tell the state they shouldn’t be registered. There is still an honor system,” said von Spakovsky, co-author of the book “Who's Counting? How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk.”

The problem with California is there is no separate verification of citizenship on voter registration, said Charles Bell, Jr., a partner with California-based Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk, LLP, a law firm that specializes in election law. Applicants can check a box affirming they are citizens, and this is not checked against any other government database such as federal immigration records.

I'm for voter id and I agree with the fact that they could cheat if they desired. That said, there are processes in place that make it harder than you think. Voting lists are maintained and checked as people vote. Trump makes statements that are harmful to our democracy and if true could be easily proved. I would add, California is a case unto itself.

That's just crazy talk.
What is the big deal with using the honor system to hold ILLEGAL ALIENS accountable to their law-abiding honor just because they are in criminal violation merely by being in the registration office to start with, thereby proving they have no honor, no law-abiding principle?

What do you expect from California stoners - logic?

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

gistration-system-highly-susceptible-to-fraud.html

The problem with this article (that rap selectively quoted) is that it fails to back up its assertions, starting with the very first line "California’s voter registration system is “highly susceptible to being compromised,” because of immigration policies protecting the Golden State’s 2.4 million illegal immigrants, authorities have told Fox News." “Highly susceptible to being compromised” is supposedly a quote. Who said it? What was their authority. You won't find out in the article because that quote is the first, last, and only indication a California 'authority' said that, or anything like it.

Democrats should take up voter id with a vengeance, and insist it be legally binding in every state. And they should go around and help everyone get that id. In 2000 and 2004 Florida alone incorrectly purged thousands of voters - mostly democrats - from the rolls. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/07/10/us/florida-list-for-purge-of-voters-
proves-flawed.html
A national voter id system would have prevented that.

But the Democratic party won't bother because that would mean they'd have to spend money and bust their hump for their constituents. And Dems really have no interest in the voter, besides bamboozling them so the apparatchik can be cosseted in the spheres of power and influence in the manner to which they've become accustomed.

How did your beloved 'democratic' party fuck up so badly?

My instincts are to believe that because no voter ID is required in many states, illegals cheat. My instincts also tell me, the Republicans have been trying to prove this in the courts to push voter ID laws forever, and can't.

I'm glad Trump is forcing the issue. I notice those same Republicans now pushing back against Trump saying it's not worth the money to investigate. I would ask them why then, are they spending all that money to push for ID laws. Either way I would like a definitive answer.

I don't see why an illegal would want to vote - what's it to them? I see no immediate or even long term gain for them to do so unless someone is paying them. Especially if there might be some concern over being asked to provide an ID and being found out. It's not worth it. And even if someone were paying them would they be able to coordinate millions of illegal voters? I am unconvinced in that kind of illegal voting.
Rigging/hacking how votes are counted makes more sense to me - hello Russia. We're so busy being lead around looking for illegals voting for Dems when we should have been looking for Ruskies voting for Trump.

I would site as an example that many in this country illegally actually work campaigning for elected officials. They canvas their own neighborhoods for potential voters. They do this because they do have a lot to loose and that's in the message they spread. I would site Trump, his promised deportations and the wall as an example of why they do that.

Trump may be new but deportations and the wall are not. Abuse of people here illegally is not new and trying to get policy's like the dreamer act passed are not as well. Many many people here illegally play major roles in our politics.
