I doubt that anybody is getting kicked for that.

Ah, the old ad hominem ... a JOnesing special.

What does that have to do with Weissmann's overturned convictions, where his actions unanimously had the Supreme Court aghast? Or his prosecutorial misconduct? Or, after falsely instructing a witness to testify about hearsay conversation, and who appeared voluntarily, he then prosecuting him for perjury?

Do you have any response to the facts, SECOND-RATE?

I'm sure you don't. In fact, I guarantee you'll do one of four things 1) shift the topic, 2) disappear for a while and then shift the topic, 3) continue with an ad hominem, or 4) some combination of those.

Putting you back on 'ignore', again.

Pretty much.

SECOND-RATE seems overly anxious for a reply. WHY? It's not like SECOND-RATE ever engages in discussion.

I think 1kiki is paid by how many words posted. That's why 5 nearly identical posts in a row. But tomorrow, after 1kiki rests, there will be new posts, hopefully not the same-old-same-old.

Tonight I see a bunch of news stories passing a rumor that Trump will fire Mueller. I hope so because things are getting too repetitive about Trump/Russia. We need to freshen this story with a new drama about rule of law and Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre. Obstruction of justice is starting to bore me. Poor Mueller. If Trump doesn't fire him, he will have to do years of paperwork before he issues a final report, which will probably be ignored by the Republican controlled Congress. Mueller will probably feel the Futility.

I did a quick look at Robert Mueller's history. it seems excellent (on page 1 google search). There was one fly in the ointment -
Quote:

For the past three years, Mueller has been a partner in the Washington office of WilmerHale, whose attorneys represent former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, Trump’s daughter Ivanka and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law.
- which didn't come to much.

OTOH some of his appointments stink.
Quote:

One of them, Jeannie Rhee, donated $5,400 to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign PAC Hillary for America, according to FEC reports. She also worked on behalf of the Clinton Foundation in at least one high-profile case.
And then there's Weissman, who left the Enron investigation due to rising evidence of prosecutorial misconduct. The list of his misconduct is lengthy, egregious, and troubling.

Prosecutor's Record Destroys Credibility of Mueller Probe
(AP)

By Sidney Powell | Wednesday, 07 Jun 2017 11:28 AM

Former FBI Director, now special prosecutor, Robert Mueller has added Andrew Weissmann to the prosecution team investigating allegations of the Trump Administration's "collusion" with Russia.

Mainstream media has touted both men's credentials, but there is a huge back-story they all ignore.

Mr. Weissmann's real record as a "special prosecutor" is so egregious that Mr. Mueller's decision to choose his former counsel Weissmann should cause concern for anyone with even a passing interest in truth and justice.

From a tough mob prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York United States Attorney's Office (with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Assistant Attorney General Leslie Caldwell), Mr. Weissmann became the first Deputy Director — and then Director — of the elite Enron Task Force, formed in 1991.

The Task Force quickly devolved into a cabal that used mob tactics itself.

It dealt the death penalty to the venerable accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP, which employed 85,000 people world-wide and represented approximately 2500 publicly-traded companies. It even coerced a guilty plea out of Andersen partner David Duncan.

In a trial rife with prosecutorial misconduct obviously calculated to win at any cost, Weissmann helped rewrite crucial jury instructions defining the "crime" and the intent required.

Three years later, a unanimous Supreme Court reversed the conviction. All the justices agreed that Andersen's conduct was not a crime, and it was "shocking how little criminal culpability the jury instructions required."

In plain English, Mr. Weissmann concocted a crime, destroyed a company and 85,000 jobs, spent millions of tax dollars, and obtained a wrongful conviction — all for nothing.

The prosecutors were so over-reaching that the judge even allowed Mr. Duncan to withdraw his guilty plea.

Weissmann ran the grand jury like a petty tyrant. He instructed one defendant (my client) — who had appeared voluntarily — to share his "personal understanding" of a telephone call he had not even participated in, "whether his understanding was accurate or not." Then, Weissmann indicted him for perjury and obstruction of justice for his answer.

Determined to "send a message to Wall Street," Weissmann supervised the prosecution of four Merrill Lynch executives on charges that were unprecedented.

Like a character from the TV series The Blacklist, Weissmann himself often made multiple phone calls to lawyers for potential defense witnesses, threatening the indictment of anyone who might testify for the defense — including in-house legal counsel.

To top it off, Weissmann and team actually yellow-highlighted evidence that was favorable to the defense before the Barge trial, but hid it for six years while four Merrill executives served a year in prison on an indictment that failed to allege a crime as charged.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals reversed 12 out of 14 counts of conviction, acquitted one defendant completely, and later held that the prosecutors "plainly suppressed evidence" favorable to the defense and provided misleading summaries instead.

Weissmann left the Enron Task Force amid escalating allegations of prosecutorial misconduct during the Enron Broadband case.
No one seemed to notice what had happened to the victims, or that all of the cases they actually tried and at least two of the guilty pleas they coerced were reversed.

Not only has our Department of "Justice" failed to drain the swamp, it has just restocked it with a swamp-monster who has proven that he is willing to do anything to win. To paraphrase Billy Jack, "When [prosecutors] break the law, there is no law."

Sidney Powell served in the Department of Justice for 10 years, in three federal districts under nine United States Attorneys from both political parties. She was lead counsel in more than 500 federal appeals. She is the author of Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice – a legal thriller that tells the inside story of high-profile prosecutions including Arthur Andersen LLP, the Ted Stevens case, and the Enron Barge case in which she represented one of the Merrill Lynch executives.

It could be that Mueller isn't as apolitical and disinterested as people assume - and that he's stuffing his team with hacks who'll do what's expected, while Mueller himself keeps his hands clean.

Or maybe you have very slippery standards about the administration of justice?

JO, do you know what saves us from mob rule?

Process.

Just because you don't "like" the accused doesn't mean you should abrogate justice. If there is one evil in this world that I can point to, it's the evil of good people doing bad things because they think all will be forgiven if they're working towards a Good Cause. More evil has been done in the name of a "good cause" by people who THOUGHT they were "doing good" than by people who thought they were doing evil.

If you don't like the result, change the process. There are procedures on how to do that, too.

President Trump’s maybe-nonexistent White House tapes, explained

www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/6/13/15787378/trump-tapes-russia-
comey

It’s difficult to imagine that any president of the United States would be so stupid as to record his conversations with aides, since Nixon’s decision to do so went down as one of the greatest self-owns in American political history.

Then again, throughout his business career, Trump has had a long history of secretly recording his phone calls with people, as the Washington Post’s Marc Fisher wrote last month.

More recently, however, Trump seems to have had a habit of making a different play — of bluffing that he has tapes that will supposedly prove him right in some dispute or another, in an effort to get his opponent to back down.

For instance, two New York Times reporters who covered the 2016 presidential campaign have separate accounts of Trump claiming that he was misquoted in a story and insisting that he had a tape to back him up. In both cases, the reporters say, Trump curiously failed to produce the tape.

Well, well, well. If Trump does not have a Comey tape, then why did Trump talk about his Comey tape? If Trump told a fable about the tape that will end up bringing him condemnation. Does he care? Never! He welcomes condemnation. "He lies to people who have the power to publicly devastate him. He betrays people who have the power to damage him. The Trump administration is creating chaos. Daily. Of course many of the scandals are the result of the president’s ignorance and blunders – not some nefarious strategy.

But there is also no doubt that some savvy people around Trump are using the daily shocks as cover to advance wildly pro-corporate policies that bear little resemblance to what Trump pledged on the campaign trail.

And the worst part? This is likely just the warm up for what this Administration will do when it has a major external shock to exploit. Any such crisis could redraw the political map overnight, giving Trump and his crew free rein to ram through their most extreme ideas.

That all might be true. It's too bad that you Lefties have been screaming so loud since November 9th before he even had a chance to do anything. You kicked it all off by burning cities down and marching down the street yelling "FUCK TRUMP!"

Most of us are just tuning it all out. I'm under no illusion that this is a good thing.

I like these 3 mutually exclusive promises from Trump because they are so easy to understand:

12. Leave the federal minimum wage at $7.25 per hour, which is already too high.

13. Raise the federal minimum wage to $10 per hour, as $7.25 is too low and “the minimum wage has to go up.”

14. Allow states to set their own minimum wage, possibly setting a wage lower than the Federal Minimum as well as higher.

I think I figured out what your problem is Second. You're a Trust Fund Baby that never had to grow up.

I think I figured out your problem. You are not right. I'm from a family that recognizes that Trump is a con artist and would never trust him and won't elect him, while 6ixStringJoker did the opposite. How's that worked out for you and the 62,985,106 others voting for Trump? Are you getting better results from life than I and the Trump family are getting? I'm going to tell you a fact. You ignore it and you will sacrifice your future (but if your self-sacrifice to the GOP is okay with you it is okay with me): The only people who should vote for Republicans are rich people. I should have voted for Trump! But every Texas Republican I know who isn't wealthy would rather die than admit they are wrong about Trump. With your hopelessly screwed up understanding of Trump the only thing I can do for you is wish you good luck with the rest of your life because you will need it. There will be more con artists like Trump to steal your future from you.

Let's get back to the subject of Evidence. No crimes were revealed today by Jeff Sessions, but something odd happened in the past.

Sessions never heard Trump show any interest in Russian hacking before the inauguration. James Comey never heard Trump show any interest in Russian hacking after the inauguration. If Donald Trump ever showed the slightest interest in a hostile state actor trying to subvert an American election, not a single person seems to remember it.

I dunno. It sure seems like the kind of thing the president of the United States ought to be upset about. I wonder why Trump isn’t? But Trump isn't, so that is Evidence.

Sessionz proved 2 thingz in hiz testimony:

1. He'z in the TrumPutin conspirasy. He'z not just a dupe who got sucked in by a con man.

Not showing any interest in the Russian hacking operation can not be satisfactorily accounted for by extreem stupidity. It only makes sens wen he knowz all about it alredy. You dont ask about subjects you are familiar with that you want to keep secret.

2. He iz stupid. And so are the GoPs at the hearing who provided help to hinder the investigation, trying to dismiss it all az a spy fiction story.

That they cant see 1 move ahed in the game makes me wonder how they manajed to get where they are.

I stopped counting at 40 timez Sessionz sed sumthing thats false. Mostly repeats, so I dont know if they woud tally up az seperate counts uv perjury.
Then therez the same unfounded refuzal to ansr that Trumps other appointeez committed the other day. They are plainly in contempt.

They are going to need to bild a special prizon to houze all the conspiratorz.

Okay! He was a con artist. Trump is taking the con game to higher level of play with teamwork. For Evidence I have:

At the Monday Cabinet meeting, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus spoke first, saying it was a “blessing” to serve the president. Each secretary followed suit in what became an epic, circular kiss-up, praising Trump’s leadership and expressing his or her gratitude.

“It’s an honor to be able to serve you,” said Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

“I am privileged to be here,” said Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta. “Deeply honored.”

“What an incredible honor it is to lead the Department of Health and Human Services at this pivotal time under your leadership,” said HHS Secretary Tom Price. “I can’t thank you enough for the privileges you’ve given me and the leadership that you’ve shown.”

Most reserved in his remarks was Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who praised only the men and women of the Defense Department, not Trump. A scholar, thinker, combat veteran and leader, Mattis knows full well what evil lurks in absolute power. The blessing is that there’s at least one among the crowing crowd who puts country first and worships no mortal man.

I can't believe that you said it. I'm not going to insult you by asking you if you meant it, because even though I think you're wrong in your thinking a lot of the time, you've never struck me as somebody who says something that they don't believe.

I'd put that quote in my signature, but that's not my style. Somebody should make a note of this for posterity though.

Melodramatic much, Ms. Parker?

We just had 8 years of the MSM treating Obama as if he were a God of some sorts. I can only imagine how often he had his ass kissed by powerful people in that time.

More Evidence:

Trump fired Comey and said he did so as a way of relieving the pressure of the Russia probe. It was that act — which Trump undertook entirely at his own discretion — that led to the obstruction of justice investigation.

Trump, in his zeal to show he wasn’t being personally investigated and rid his administration of a troublesome probe, made himself the focus of an investigation and created a much more troublesome probe for his administration. “They” didn’t do this to Trump. Trump did this to Trump.

But Trump doesn’t seem to understand what he did, or how his actions led to his current problems. After Comey’s testimony, Trump called him a liar and suggested he would testify to his version of events under oath — a disastrous strategy. Earlier this week, reports emerged that Trump was thinking about firing Mueller, too — an act that would likely lead to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s resignation, and perhaps a governmental crisis. Trump was eventually talked down by his staff, but no one knows if Trump will stay talked down. The New York Times reports:

For now, the staff has prevailed. “While the president has every right to” fire Mr. Mueller, “he has no intention to do so,” the White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters late Tuesday.

But people close to Mr. Trump say he is so volatile they cannot be sure that he will not change his mind about Mr. Mueller if he finds out anything to lead him to believe the investigation has been compromised. And his ability to endure a free-ranging investigation, directed by Mr. Mueller, that could raise questions about the legitimacy of his Electoral College victory, the topic that most provokes his rage, will be a critical test for a president who has continued on Twitter and elsewhere to flout the advice of his staff, friends and legal team.

Behind this furor, and its uneasy resolution, is the reality that Trump isn’t learning from his mistakes — he’s becoming embittered by them. You could see this in another Trump tweet this morning:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history - led by some very bad and conflicted people! #MAGA
6:57 AM - 15 Jun 2017

Trump’s resistance to taking responsibility for his actions is perhaps the single greatest threat facing his presidency. If he realized the damage he was doing to himself, he could perhaps stop doing it. But so long as he sees his problems as the product of an unfair “WITCH HUNT,” he will continue to see his reckless, enraged reactions as a reasonable response, and so will continue destabilizing his presidency.

This just tweeted by Trump:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Crooked Hillary destroyed phones w/ hammer, 'bleached' emails, & had husband meet w/Attorney General days before she was cleared- & they talk about obstruction?
2:56 PM - 15 Jun 2017

With this tweet, Trump forgets he lives in a glass house and he is throwing stones at Hillary.

He’s trying to argue that it was inappropriate for the husband of the subject of an FBI investigation to meet with the attorney general under circumstances when he might have been discussing the investigation itself with her. Now imagine the exact same situation, except instead of the husband of the subject, it’s the subject himself. And instead of the subject being a noteworthy public figure and political candidate who holds no current office, the subject is the president of the United States and has the authority to hire and fire the people in charge of the investigation.

Except it gets worse: Trump didn’t just discuss the Russia investigation with former FBI Director James Comey — he fired Comey and then said on national television he fired him because of the Russia investigation.

It’s not a great look. While trying to hit Hillary with rocks, Trump broke his own windows.

“If Trump is so dumb, how did he get so rich?” That’s what Texas Republicans would say to your hypothetical. I’d say Trump got rich by cheating on his taxes. I think Trump's tax returns are full of dirt. That's why he didn't share them with the public, unlike all Presidents. Trump is unwillingness to share Evidence. I think Robert Mueller will subpoena those returns and his 50 forensic tax accountants will find dirt under most Trump building projects.

Reporters have already uncovered an astonishing amount of disturbing information about Trump. Didn’t make any difference to the election, because Republicans didn’t believe it, but they will once Mueller is done.

There’s the Azerbaijan hotel project propped up by graft and bribery with ties to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. The charitable foundation accused of self-dealing and tax fraud. The questionable Deutsche Bank loans with ties to Moscow. The close association with allegedly criminal international companies. Because they have no subpoena power, the journalists chasing these leads have hit insurmountable walls, leading to stories that suggest the possibility of law-breaking but end with uncertainty. Mueller need not put up with stonewalling. He has the tools to dig much deeper than any journalist.

We've already gone over this angle.

Trump or any other president is not legally obligated to make their taxes viewable by the public, and since there has been a witch hunt since November 9th I don't blame him for not wanting to let people like Rachel Maddow get their hands on them.

The IRS knows exactly what is in them. The IRS, to my knowledge, is not a partisan organization. If there is reason to believe that something nefarious is going on, they should then pass those on to the FBI for investigation.

I think the IRS would have found discrepancies or violations in the law with Trumps taxes over the years. Not sure but I think so. I think what Trumps worried about is all his ties to Russian banks showing him susceptible to Russian influence becoming visible. That, and it coming out he is worth half or less than what he claims.

Trump Is Steadily Becoming More Unbalanced Every Day
www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2017/06/donald-trump-is-steadily-becomi
ng-more-unbalanced-every-day
/

This Politico story is from yesterday, which is about six months in blog years, but it deserves an extra day:

Trump, for months, has bristled almost daily about the ongoing probes. He has sometimes, without prompting, injected “I’m not under investigation” into conversations with associates and allies. He has watched hours of TV coverage every day — sometimes even storing morning news shows on his TiVo to watch in the evening — and complained nonstop.

….Two people close to Trump note that his is an obsessive personality — whether about businessmen who wronged him over the years, his years-long and fruitless quest to prove President Barack Obama wasn’t born in the United States, to reporters who have written negative stories about him. One transition official said Trump lashed out at reporters over old stories within a day of winning the election in November.

….Trump now has begun fuming about special counsel Robert Mueller, particularly after Mueller hired several prosecutors and investigators with ties to Democrats. Trump has told associates he might fire Mueller, though they don’t believe he will. On Wednesday, The Washington Post reported that Trump was under investigation for obstruction — and that Mueller wanted to interview the national security officials who reportedly had been asked to make false statements.

Well, it’s true that the Post reported that Trump was under investigation, but that was based on an anonymous source, and the deputy attorney general has told us not to pay any attention to—

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt
8:07 AM - 16 Jun 2017

Oh. I guess Trump really is under investigation. “Aides have tried to change the subject,” says Politico, “But none of that has changed Trump’s response.” This is not a portrait of a man in full control of his faculties.

Well, one of us is crazy, JO. I think, tho, that you think that Putin is far more powerful than he really is.

(1) Russia didn't change the vote in the USA. According to you, it was Comey. But people voted the way they voted and it wasn't because of "Russia".

(2) You really do think that Putin has "dirt" on Trump, don't you? Something worse than "pussy-grabber"? Yanno, if we're talking about "dirt" I think there would be far more dirt on Hillary than Trump.

In any case, this is what is going on with sanctions: even our allies are against them.

Quote:

Germany, Austria Slam U.S. Sanctions Against Russia

Yet to see evidence of such

and Ukraine.
Indeed, they acquired Crimea (almost non-violently) and were helping the separatists in the Donbas. But, there were already sanctions on Russia for that.

I await more definitive evidens of who is crazy - you or me. Events will show that once of us is crazier than the other.

Even your "nightmare scenario" of oil prices rising isn't all that high J0. There were several times thruought the obama administration where we were paying $4.25/gal to nearly $5.00/gal.

Made us think we we've been lucky that it's "only" around $2.25/gal - $2.50/gal the last few years.

There could very well be bad things in his Taxes. I'm not just blindly defending him and saying that there aren't.

All I'm saying is it's a basic matter of ROI.

What would Trump have to gain by releasing his taxes voluntarily? The answer is nothing.

I guaranty that anybody with a business empire that large, even if everything is legal, has done things that could be spun as just plain awful to the useful idiots watching the MSM that don't know a thing about business and couldn't even do their own income taxes without H&R Block online.

I don't think that there is anything illegal in there. There could be, but I don't think there is. If there are indications that there are possible "evil" ties with Russia, the FBI SHOULD look into them.

There's no reason for him to release them to the public though with the daily slamming he's taken for over 6 months now by the MSM.

At this point it's way better to let the MSM speculate and put thoughts into the heads of the useful idiots than have a 12,000 page document given to them that would ensure countless material for Rachel Maddow to justify her $7 Million a year salary.

We had nearly $5 a gallon by me a few times. Especially over the boarder in Illinois close to Chicago. The way things were going who could blame somebody for predicting $10 a gallon. Everybody freaked when gas hit over $2/gal back in 2000 and now that's considered a great bargain today.

It was low for a while when Obama was in and his term ended relatively low. Don't forget all the times where you were paying over $4/gal in between though.

All I am saying is that releasing his taxes as a candidate was a matter of basic decency up until the point Robert Mueller subpoenas the returns.

If Trump is one of those indecent people whose every move is controlled by ROI (and he is) he obviously would cheat big time because it is so easy to do and a tax cheater's ROI is ENORMOUS.

Besides the certainty he was cheating, Trump can't stop himself from tweeting, either.

Democrats are begging Trump: "Please don't stop tweeting about the witch hunt. Thank you for waiving executive privilege w/ your tweets" https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/875690204564258816

Even his own internal advisors seem to have washed their hands of the problem. A White House spokeswoman referred questions about why no one in the administration was able to halt the apparent self-sabotage to Trump’s outside lawyer, Mark Kasowitz. Kasowitz didn’t return a call to his office.

Rosenstein, meanwhile, is conducting his job as if he isn’t being targeted by the president of the United States. Rosenstein is the one person in the US government who has the authority to fire Robert Mueller. Rosenstein is a career justice department civil servant who has worked under five presidents. If Trump fires Rosenstein because Trump can't fire Mueller, Trump will dump a truckload of cow manure on his own head.

The ROI on tax cheating is not ENORMOUS. Part of weighing out ROI is comparing possible benefits against possible consequences of your actions. Saving a few million here or there by outright breaking the law when you have a business the size of Trump's is potential career suicide.

Again, I'm not saying that he didn't do it. I just don't think that he did.

There are plenty of ways to avoid taxes legally, and I'm quite sure that the accountants and tax attorneys on his team took advantage of every single one of them for what they're likely getting paid. (He even admitted to the public already that there were years that he did not pay taxes, so I don't know what your point about this all is).

Maddow and Olberman would have countless hours worth of shows pouring over those things and vilifying Trump for them. The only people who would look at what they were talking about and say "Who the fuck cares? That's business." are other large corporation big-shots who know that's just how the game is played.

It's a no brainier not releasing those to the public when he doesn't have to.

Don't ever expect to see them, voluntarily or otherwise. It's not going to happen. They may subpoena them for investigation, but there is no way those are ever going to be released to the public unless they are illegally leaked or somebody changes the law to state that any president or presidential candidate MUST disclose their tax returns to the public.

Oh they certainly do. And they've got the top lawyers in the country protecting them.

Do me a favor and try to get the tax returns for say Coca-Cola and let me know if you turn up anything fruitful.
