I felt that I should just point out that I have been sober for going on 7 months now, for the record. We all make mistakes and bad choices in life. Everybody has done something that they have regret. If we're lucky, the only one we hurt when we did it was ourselves.

What have you done in 2017 to improve your position and/or outlook on life Wishy?

I'll admit that I don't have a clue what happened to you in the four or so years that I was completely useless, but you are nothing like I remember you to be. You were a genuinely warm and happy person with nothing but positive things to say and I used to enjoy talking to you very much, nearly every day.

I'm genuinely sorry for whatever happened to change you so drastically. It's like I went to sleep for a few years and when I woke up, you were gone.

I think you should maybe look deeper into Feminism today, particularly as taught on college campuses, and you would see that it is not the movement you were a part of. I think you would be more inclined to call yourself an Egalitarian, as the Feminist movement has been co-opted by people (both women and men) who are unhappy with where they are in life and need somebody to blame it on.

Similar to the "But Russia!!!" narrative of the left today, Feminism of 2017 relies on some fictional bogeyman called "The Patriarchy" that is the reason for anything they are unhappy about in their lives.

That said, I think it's POLITICALLY weak to appeal to victim groups specifically. I think it's far stronger to put forth an agenda of FAIRNESS. To aim at fair opportunities and rewards for everyone.

But I also think that the typical Anglo male, if put into a fair competition - without the advantages of the boys club or special treatment - would find it awfully uncomfortable to have to prove himself on the same footing as everyone else. In theory fairness sounds very attractive. In practice, I think the typical Anglo male would find it humbling.

And no. I would not be 62 in order to register for the draft. I was automatically registered when I got my drivers license. The draft may have ended in the early 70's, but men and men alone have been required to register for the draft and still do to this day.

BTW, WISHI- from my viewpoint, your responses are pretty predictable. It seems to me that when the failing is framed as an emotional deficiency- lack of empathy - you find a number of excuses for it. I assume that the reason why that is so is because of your hubby, who you describe as being on Asperger's sepctrum. That would leave him very low on "empathy"; and through years of experience with him- learning not to expect certain emotional responses, and realizing that that's just "him" - you've come to rationalize away ALL expressions of lack of empathy.

On the other hand, your hubby seems like a pretty smart guy, overall. So you feel that a person's "intelligence" is somehow under their control, and when the situation can be framed as someone being "stupid" you land on him/ her/ them with both feet. Just sayin'.

My husband doesn't have anything to do with anything. Once you understand how Asperger's works you know they are more empathetic than most, but it's not like other people's expression of it. Your claim made me curious. I went through your last roughly 45 rwe posts to see if I could spot a pattern. The number of posts where 6 responded to you immediately afterwards was only 6 or 7, I don't remember. There were many threads where 6 didn't show up at all after you posted, or where he responded later but never to you, or where he responded to you but only after intervening posts by others.
