U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies are looking at interceptions of both communications and financial transactions as part of “a broad investigation into possible links between Russian officials and associates of President-elect Donald J. Trump,” according to a new report by the New York Times.

Citing former and current senior American officials, the Times said that Mr. Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort is one of the Trump associates included in the investigation. Prior to his work with Mr. Trump, Manafort was an advisor to Viktor Yanukovych, a pro-Russian Ukrainian politician.

Former Trump foreign policy advisor Carter Page is also a subject of the investigation, according to the report, as is longtime Republican strategist and longtime Trump advisor Roger Stone. Like Manafort, Stone was fired from the Trump campaign.

The CIA already knows the answer.

If there were true links to Russia, he wouldn't have been inaugurated today.

Nothing will come of this.

I'm sure you have a direct line to the CIA. I'll admit that from my couch I can't tell. I think I'll wait and see.

Richard Nixon was a traitor. Yet no one stopped his inauguration. Watergate followed from the treason.

Before Nixon’s election, President Johnson said in a taped conversation, “I think it would shock America if a principal candidate was playing with a source like this on a matter of this importance. I don’t want to do that [go public]. They ought to know that we know what they’re doing. I know who they’re talking to. I know what they’re saying.”

Though Johnson personally spoke with Nixon about the Chennault issue, Nixon simply denied doing anything wrong and the peace stalemate continued through the final days of the campaign. On the day before the election, Johnson had one last chance to expose Nixon’s “treason” when the White House was asked by the Christian Science Monitor to respond to a Saigon-datelined article drafted by correspondent Beverly Deepe who had discovered the Republican obstruction from her South Vietnamese sources.

Johnson consulted with Rostow, Secretary of State Dean Rusk and Defense Secretary Clark Clifford in a Nov. 4 conference call. Those three pillars of the Washington Establishment were unanimous in advising Johnson against going public, mostly out of fear that the scandalous information might reflect badly on the U.S. government.

“Some elements of the story are so shocking in their nature that I’m wondering whether it would be good for the country to disclose the story and then possibly have a certain individual [Nixon] elected,” Clifford said. “It could cast his whole administration under such doubt that I think it would be inimical to our country’s interests.”

Johnson concurred with their judgment. An administration spokesman refused to confirm or deny the story, leading the Christian Science Monitor’s editors to spike Deepe’s scoop.

Hey... Maybe I'm wrong.

I just think that the CIA knows pretty much whatever the CIA wants to know. It's my belief that either they have nothing on Trump, or they do and they want Trump in office anyhow.

Meanwhile, this is a great talking point for years to come. Something to keep the proletariat fighting with each other while they go back to doing whatever they want to do when nobody is watching them. Of course the lefties are going to bite. They have tried everything else they could think of to stop this presidency and nothing worked. Now they're grasping at whatever straws they can find.

Obama could have stopped the FBI Director Comey from three times in a row accusing Hillary of being a criminal without proof enough to indict her, but Obama did not. Obama knew what was coming, yet he did not order Comey to stay out of the election.

A trio of researchers takes a broad look at the evidence that FBI Director James Comey affected the election. Their conclusion:
Quote:

The evidence is clear, and consistent, regarding the Comey effect. The timing of the shift both at the state and national levels lines up very neatly with the publication of the letter, as does the predominance of the story in the media coverage from the final week of the campaign. With an unusually large number of undecided voters late in the campaign, the letter hugely increased the salience of what was the defining critique of Clinton during the campaign at its most critical moment.
www.vox.com/the-big-idea/2017/1/11/14215930/comey-email-election-clint
on-campaign

If it weren't for Obama refusing to kick Comey’s ass to the moon when Obama first heard from the Dept of Justice that Comey wrote a letter calling Hillary a criminal under investigation and was about to make the letter public knowledge, Hillary Clinton would have won the popular vote by about 6 points and the Electoral College by 70 or more.

Mr. No Drama Obama let Comey do as he pleased. The FBI is not separate from the Executive branch, unlike the Supreme Court and Congress. Obama had the authority to stop Comey. He just didn't have the guts to do it. It is very similar to President Johnson not having the guts to destroy candidate Nixon's reputation just before the election. Nixon got 43.4% of the vote to Humphrey's 42.7%. That was even closer than Trump vs Hillary. If President Johnson had the courage to reveal Nixon's lies before the election, he would have saved the USA a great deal of trouble.

I don't disagree with you about the results of the Comey back and forth. That's all very likely true.

He did have enough evidence to indite Hillary though. They just chose not to because they said there was no evidence she willingly and or knowingly was breaking the law. He essentially said before the General election that Hillary was guilty, but they weren't going to indite her. This is a double standard that very few people in the world live by. Comey even said in the same address that if anybody else does anything like it they will be punished and letting Hillary slide wasn't a free pass for everyone to break the law.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Just to clue you, 6ixStringJack, but Comey's position at the FBI does not give him any power to grant clemency or a "free pass" as you called it to Hillary for crimes she committed. Or to prosecute her. But Republican Comey can be the next J Edgar Hoover threatening a Democratic enemy -- Martin Luther King Jr.

We have access to thousands of emails proving what a scumbag the Clintons and the heads of the DNC and quite a few in the MSM are, and they didn't even bother reading them.

Believing without a doubt Trump has ties with Russia without a shred of actual evidence though... no problem.

Frankly I think both sides are terrible, as I've said often, complete with both Trump and Clinton having extremely questionable pasts with women (and maybe children) and generally being massive power hungry abusive creeps. I think there has been manipulation of polling data and other aspects of the political machinery from both sides, though we only got the leaks about the DNC throwing Bernie under the bus.

In any case I'm hoping we can put this bullshit behind us eventually, someone puts some of those dog collar cones on trump's arms so he stops his reality star tweeting bad habits, and we can all focus on the midterms and next elections, because fuck if either side is going to be able to do a whole hell of a lot of positive implementation in the current political climate.

Although I guess it also depends on the question of if anything anyone does in Washington is a good thing, lately it does seem to be trending towards no. So maybe completely clusterbombing of the socio-political system and deadlock might not be bad? That's the most optimistic prognosis I have.

I agree totally. I've always said our Government is the least problematic toward its citizens when it's at each others throats and nothing gets done.

If the ONLY thing Trump manages to get done is make good on his promise to rip up a lot of those Executive Orders that Obama and GWB were infamous for, then I'm happy.

It more than begins.....Turns out that the Trump campaign was warned about Russian agents/reps contacting them in August 2016. Hmmmm, and this AFTER they met with Russians, then lying/covering up about it.

So, let's see...the FBI warns them and the Clinton campaign, but they already met with them in June 2016. Now, wouldn't that warning in August 2016 come with a suggestion that "they" contact the FBI should contact occur?
Not only that, the Trump campaign knew, in August 2016, that it was a concern of the FBI, but yet still lied about it in subsequent days following that briefing. THEY KNEW going into 2017 from then. Yet, THEY waited to fire Flynn into February 2017. Plus Sally Yates warning.

This shit just gets better every single day. Oh, I can't wait until that glorious day comes. Fuck! I'm going to celebrate like New Year's Eve. Like it's 1999!

Then there's the Daily Tweet, where Trump throws his "wonderful" son under the bus. This shit just gets better all the time...and he can't complain that it's Fake News because it came from him.

He tweeted that, and I'm paraphrasing, "sure he went to the meeting to pick up dirt on Hillary (perfectly legal), but nothing was ever delivered, so nothing actually happened. Plus I didn't know anything."

Then literally he tells Russia to please find the 30,000 emails. And, if I
understand it correctly, within days the WikiLeaks dump. Folks, you can't
make this shit up. Real life, at least with Trump, is so surreal that
Hollywood couldn't make this shit believable.

Turns out, you can't solicit, accept or buy anything regarding "dirt" from

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

And now, for the story behind the story:

JOE BIDEN, WHEN HE WAS VICE PRESIDENT, INSISTED THAT THE CHIEF UKRAINIAN PROSECUTOR WHO WAS INVESTIGATING HIS SON BE FIRED. THE PROSECUTOR WAS INVESTIGATING HUNTER BIDEN FOR RECEIVING $50,000 PER MONTH FROM A UKRAINIAN NAT GAS FIRM, DESPITE HAVING NO EXPERIENCE.

Gee, whooda thunk the VP would abuse his position that way, shoehorning his son into a lucrative position for a Ukrainian nat gas firm by threatening to withold aid, and then having the chief proseutor of Ukraine fired for investigating?

The original scandal has rarely made it to the M$M news, but this "whistleblower" sure managed to bring it bubbling back up again!

Trump Pounces On Biden-Ukraine Scandal As Whistleblower Story Flips On Dems

President Trump and his social media team have seized on allegations that Joe Biden abused his position as Vice President to strongarm Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor - who was leading a wide-ranging investigation into Biden's son Hunter and the natural gas firm that paid him $50,000 per month despite his total lack of experience.

While the Biden-Ukraine story has been simmering for the better part of five years under a firm MSM lid, the scandal has been thrust into the spotlight after the MSM peddled a 'scandalous' whistleblower story in which a "partisan" G-man reported that Trump made promises to a foreign leader that were inappropriate.

Now, we come to find out that the conversation was with Ukraine's new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, about reopening the Biden investigation - and that it did not contain a quid pro quo.

And while Democrats' hopes of finally nailing Trump appear to be melting into their sea of Russiagate tears, Trump is now capitalizing on the turnabout, bigly.

"The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democrat Party, want to stay as far away as possible from the Joe Biden demand that the Ukrainian Government fire a prosecutor who was investigating his son, or they won’t get a very large amount of U.S. money, so they fabricate a story about me and a perfectly fine and routine conversation I had with the new President of the Ukraine," Trump said this in his opening salvo over Twitter Saturday morning.

"Nothing was said that was in any way wrong, but Biden’s demand, on the other hand, was a complete and total disaster. The Fake News knows this but doesn’t want to report!"

Trump then posted a montage beginning with Biden claiming "Not one single credible outlet has given any credibility to his [Trump's] assertion."

Trump's 2020 campaign account chimed in, providing clips of the MSM investigating the Biden claims, along with a report that former Secretary of State John Kerry's (D) son cut ties with Hunter Biden over Ukraine.

On Friday, Trump downplayed the whistleblower story, telling reporters at the White House: "I'll tell you this, somebody ought to look into Joe Biden's statement where He talked about billions of dollars that he's not giving to a certain country unless a certain prosecutor is taken off the case. So, somebody ought to look into that and you wouldn't because he's a Democrat. And the fake news doesn't look into things like that, it's a disgrace," warning the press "You've had a very bad week, and this will be better than all of 'em, this is another one. So keep playing it out because you're gonna look really bad when it falls, and I guess I'm about 22 and 0 and I'll keep it that way."

Biden lashes out

On Friday, Biden issued a statement calling on Trump to release a transcript of his July phone call with Zelensky.

"If these reports are true, then ... It means that he [Trump] used the power and resources of the United States to pressure a sovereign nation—a partner that is still under direct assault from Russia—pushing Ukraine to subvert the rule of law in the express hope of extracting a political favor," he said - apparently unaware of the irony that he openly bragged about doing the exact same thing years earlier.

I can't imagine any of the shit that you idiots are causing are making any of the world leaders feel comfortable with us right now.

I don't like being on speakerphone without knowing that I'm on speakerphone, and I'm nobody.

It would be nice if you could answer the question ABOUT YOUR OWN POST. THIS ONE, in fact:

I'm wondering where it fits in with your OP Intercepted communications between Russia, Trump (which unsurprisingly turned out to be totally bogus).
