Of course you don't see the bias, J0.

I wouldn't be concerned with what the Trump Supporters think. I'd be more concerned about the over saturation of the daily MSM anti-Trump attacks that have occurred since November 9th, 2016 and how most of America that wasn't firmly in either camp have just been desensitized to it and have tuned out.

You mean the 8 people you know, right?

I see a very different thing. The longer this con man is in office the more the average non-political citizen gets tired of him lying all the time and being obviously solely motivated by greed and self aggrandizement. The longer he is in office the more people he insults and enemies he makes, whether here at home or in the rest of the world. The more days he wakes up in the WH the more failures he has, the more incapable and unfit for the office this PoS shows himself to be and the more motivated the average US citizen that wasn't in either camp becomes to Get Him Out. And his little dog too (Republicans).

I love it.

Can you see how this doesn't mean anything when it comes from people who woke up on November 8, 2016 after a full night of tears and a vendetta on their brain?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Despite Trump being suspicious that Russians had nothing at all to do, Rep. Tom Rooney (Republican-Fla.), a Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee, said on Monday that "there is evidence" showing the Russians attempted to help Trump during the 2016 presidential election, contradicting a draft report from the other Republicans on the panel. Since Rooney is NOT running for reelection, he can forthrightly disagree with the Republican committee chairman without being punished by the GOP. What can the GOP do? Impeach Rep. Rooney for not believing Trump? It is to laugh.

"I certainly think there is evidence of that. I don't know that necessarily there was a full-fledged campaign to do everything that they could to help elect Donald Trump," Rooney told host Erin Burnett on CNN's "OutFront." "I think that their goal was chaos."

Burnett pointed out that "the intelligence community had said" Moscow's intention "was to hurt Hillary Clinton," and that the Kremlin "wanted to explicitly help Donald Trump."

Rooney responded: "Yes, I believe there's evidence of everything that you just said."

Because most of them won't be voting in any elections. Now, in the mid-terms and even for the Presidential election when Trump runs again.

Do me a favor and tell me what percentage of people vote in Pennsylvania's special election today when it's all over. Yanno, the one that CNN says is about Trump.

The point is that nobody is listening and nobody cares J0.

Had this been the first and only thing that the MSM went after Trump for, then even after all this time there might be more people who cared, but it is far from that.

Anybody care to jump in here and list the countless things the MSM has tried to use to bring Trump down since November 9th? Before "Russia" there seemed to be something new each and every single day. There still is, when there isn't any breaking news for a while and viewership is down.

I haven't said whether a Democrat or Republican would win at all. I don't care about that. I've actually said on several occasions that by the mid-terms I'd like the Dems to take either the house or the senate because I'm not comfortable when either side has all that power.

What I AM saying is that almost nobody who is of voting age in the district will show up to the polls today, even though the MSM is calling this a vote about Trump. We'll see what the percentage was when the counts are in. That will be one of the cites you're asking for. Just look at any voter turnout for any race in any district on any level for all of the cites you require.

Nobody cares.

And yes, many months back you fixed your broken signature and I thanked you.

It's broke again. YOU fix it.

You now have an italics open tag next to your font color tag. You need to put a close italics tag in your signature. Whenever somebody quotes you their own text is in italics now, unless they add the close italics or delete your open italics.

I don't know why I have to explain this to anybody. I've told you 3 times in as many days to fix it by now. Rude.

I think the NY Times may have learned one lesson since Trump trounced Hillary. They're being extremely conservative with their outcome predictions in the Pennsylvania election tonight.

With half of the votes tallied and Lamb up by nearly 10%, they're still only giving Lamb a 53% chance of winning.

Probably a smart idea, although I think Lamb is going to win.

BTW, T... The population in the 18th district is around 710,000 people.

Expected voter turnout is around 250,000 to 260,000. Higher than I expected, although the MSM has made such a huge deal about this otherwise virtually meaningless election.

Even at 260,000 though, that's still 30,000 less than voted in 2016 (293,684).

If anything, this just shows that less people in the district care than they did 2 years ago.

I think JackThePragmatic is more accurate and has a better ring to it.

With just about 1% of the vote left to tally that they're going to drag out for a day or two, and maybe even throw a recount or two in there to keep MSM viewership up with sagging ratings over the current Russian narrative, the MSM's predictions of voter turnout was heavily overstated. It looks as though the voter turnout was only under 220,000... Not even close to the low estimates of 250,000 that they were saying. This is a steep drop in votes by over 70,000 for District 18, in a race that "everyone" was watching, according to the MSM.

This also makes one wonder how accurate their percentage of who voted for who could possibly be when the actual voter turnout was 12% less than their lowest estimates. It seems that the MSM still doesn't have their fingers on the pulse of the American voter.

Current counted votes found here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/03/13/us/elections/results-pe
nnsylvania-house-special-election.html

Overall, I'd say the only good news for Democrats is that I was right about people not caring. Republicans for the most part seem to be the ones that didn't go to the polls in this special election. If you look at the numbers from the last actual opposed election for this seat in 2012, the Democrats had 10,000 less votes last night than they did in 2012. The Democrats lost the election with only 36% of the vote in 2012 with 122,146 votes, 10,000 or so more than what they managed last night. (113,111 counted so far, or 92% of 2012 Democratic voter turnout).

On the other hand, Republicans won in 2012 with 64% of the vote at 216,727 total votes, 100,000 more than what they managed last night. (112,532 counted so far, or 52% of 2012 Republican voter turnout).

2012 Numbers found here: https://ballotpedia.org/Pennsylvania%27s_18th_Congressional_District

What this seems to mean to me is that voting is down for both parties, but it was significantly lower for Republicans. There wasn't any flipping from Democrat to Republican going on here. 8% of Democrats who previously voted chose to stay home, while 48% of Republicans who previously voted chose to stay home. A total vote decrease of around 33% (around 110,000 votes) from the last actual contested election in 2012 would suggest that this election was decided by low voter turnout rather than anybody changing sides.

Unless we get any hard statistics about actual counts of people who voted Republican in 2012 and/or 2016 who flipped to Democrat in last night's election, nobody should believe anything the MSM says about that being the case. There is no evidence of that happening here.

Congratulations on the win. Just keep in mind the numbers as the actual facts when the MSM talks about what the reasons are for this and what it might mean for the future. Don't get your hopes up too much. This race is not the crystal ball the MSM is going to frame it as.

Maybe this is the best Democratic strategy for 2018 and 2020. Saturate us with so much negative news in hopes that nobody shows up to polls anymore and that more Democrats will show up than Republicans on election day.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

You are definitely joking. Pragmatic means dealing with things sensibly and realistically based on practical rather than theoretical considerations. Your entire argument is theoretical, riffing on the silent majority that supports Trump in their inner hearts but didn't vote. Wait until November. They will vote Trump then!

The Pennsylvania Republican, Rick Saccone, famously said he was “Trump before Trump was Trump.” Even the Trumps campaigned for Saccone. This election was a popularity vote about Trump.

It was not a pragmatic campaign strategy for the Republican to align himself with Trump. Someone who knows the real Trump and is forced to work around Trump's mistakes and judgement errors, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, reportedly thinks Trump is an “idiot” with the brain of a “kindergartner”.

Yesterday, why did Trump pardon Scooter Libby, who was convicted in 2007 of lying about his role in exposing an undercover CIA agent, Valerie Plame?

A little background on Scooter: Plame’s husband was an annoyance to the Bush administration. Bush claimed Iraq was importing Yellow Cake (uranium ore) from Niger. Plame’s husband, the U.S. ambassador to Niger, knew that to be false and spoke up about all the falseness. So Bush takes revenge on the wife of the ambassador. Scooter Libby did the dirty work for Bush.
www.huffingtonpost.com/knut-royce/italian-letter-iraq-invasion_b_55742

There’s very little point to Trump’s pardon, since Libby never spent a day in jail and has long since been readmitted to the bar. However, White House counselor Kellyanne Conway explained: “Many people think that Scooter Libby was the victim of a special counsel gone amok.”

Hmmm. A special prosecutor run amok. I wonder who else might be a victim of a special prosecutor run amok? Oh right, Trump explains:

I suppose all of Mueller’s victims deserve pardons too, don’t they? Of course they do.

JO, this is pathetic. Don't you recall Trump saying - over and over- that he would seek better relations with Russia? That isn't some sort of secret goal whispered between conspirators, it was a CAMPAIGN PROMISE, which he's doing his best to fulfill - DESPITE warmongering nut-jobs and deep-staters (like some people on this board).

This is as bad as saying that Trump wanting to build a wall on our southern border is evidence of a "conspiracy" with wall-building construction companies because they must "have" something on Trump.

Every time I check into this thread, there you are: Riding your hobby horse. You're as bad as the people who were terrified of Iraq's "WMD". Sheesh, JO, can't you give it a rest?

Speaking of peeing, here is why Trump can't hire excellent lawyers. Essentially, Trump has pissed on all the best lawyers:

https://qz.com/1256340

Basically, Bob Mueller is playing three-dimensional chess, and Trump is playing tiddlywinks. Mueller is pummeling the shit out of him, and every lawyer on the planet can see it.

Here’s how I know: Every lawyer I know who has been contacted by the White House has represented terrible people in the past, and they all said, “no thanks.” and every lawyer on the planet can see it.

Two reasons: One is the traditional stuff, he’s a terrible client who won’t listen and won’t pay—a disaster combo. The second reason is the stink of it. Their job is not to divine who’s good and who’s bad—defense attorneys ensure that even the most disgusting among us get due process.

But this has other value judgements—no one wants to take a case with all these other headaches and go down in flames in front of the entire world. Be associated with this guy, spend all your time and not get paid, alienate all of your other clients (current and future) and lose dramatically? There is just no upside. Those with the big names already don’t need it and the up and comers don’t want all the risks.

It’s one thing to take a case that’s really tough, we all do that every day. It’s an entirely different thing to take hold of a fucking rock and jump off a ship and sink to the bottom.

Jo, the analogy to Iraq's WMD scare is a good one. There are people here - and I won't embarrass them by naming them - who were paranoid about the thought of Saddam having WMD. During the entire run-up to war, and for years afterwards (and possibly still to this day) these people were convinced that Saddam had WMD, and the thought was plainly traumatic to them.

So, in that case, we had a person who was demonized in the press as being a tyrant, crazy, pathological, violent, and unpredictable Saddam Hussein (Trump). The administration and MSM kept pounding on the topic that Saddam had WMD (Trump colluded with Russia). It didn't seem to matter than one piece of "evidence" after another evaporated ... the yellowcake contract was a forgery, the aluminum tubes were rockets not centrifuge tubes (contacts seem to lead nowhere) ... nor did it seem to make a dent that Saddam's nation was being aggressively investigated by Hans Blix (collusion was being investigated by Mueller) and that while some suggestive items were found (some third-hand contacts with Ukraine were noted) there was nothing of substance found, even after months and months of searching. Nor did it seem to make a difference that EVEN IF Saddam had WMD, he did not have them in sufficient quantities to threaten the USA, nor did he have the means to deliver them to us (existential USA interests were not threatened).

No. What these people kept returning to was WHAT IF???

WHAT IF?
Saddam was able to build a super-secret facility in the desert, one that he hid so cleverly that it couldn't be detected from space or on the ground? (WHAT IF there is a super=secret channel of communication between Trump and Putin?)

WHAT IF? he had managed to ship the weapons to Syria during a sandstorm, so they the convoy couldn't be detected? (WHAT IF Trump was under Putin's control?)

WHAT IF? Saddam could deliver anthrax to the USA? (WHAT IF Putin used Trump to destroy the USA?)

They created such a welter of WHAT IFs? that it was all they could see; it went completely out of perspective and blotted out every other consideration.

So here's the problem with Iraq's WMD hysteria (Russian collusion hysteria) and why it's so difficult to shake: You can't prove a negative.

It's logically impossible.

Just as Saddam could never prove that he DIDN'T have WMD, Trump can never prove that he DIDN'T collude with Russia. In order to do that, the investigator would have to poke into every possible scenario, and even then, those who are inclined to be fearful will dream up another WHAT IF??

And BTW, this shows that there is no lie so outrageous that our government (deep state) and press (corporations) wouldn't promote it, and no lie so ridiculous that some people won' fall for it.

So here's what I suggest, in order to prevent people from going off the deep end: You must first decide what our existential interests are. THEN, if you see them threatened in a real way ... and not as a result of some imaginary set if WHAT IFS ... you put the pedal to the metal

Ask yourself: Short of somehow "making" Trump push The Button, how could Putin destroy the USA thru Trump?

And - How does a better relationship with Russia threaten us? Oh, it doesn't.

All of our problems are self-created. We made them, we can fix them. Let's work on that.

He haz good lawyerz . . .

Trump has had trouble finding any decent lawyers who are willing to work with him on the Russia probe, so he’s finally decided to let his pal Rudy Giuliani come on board. But what exactly is Giuliani’s role going to be?
www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2018/04/rudy-is-back-in-the-saddle/

Here are three takes:

New York Times: Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor and longtime friend of President Trump, will join the president’s legal team in an effort to “quickly” resolve the special counsel investigation into Russian election interference and possible ties to Trump associates.

Wall Street Journal: In an interview, Mr. Giuliani, a former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said his first task after joining the team will be to “find out what Bob Mueller needs” to complete the investigation. “I’m pretty sure we can comply with it,” he said. Mr. Trump’s legal team has “worked so hard to get this done. Hopefully we can speed it up,” Mr. Giuliani said.

Washington Post: “I’m doing it because I hope we can negotiate an end to this for the good of the country and because I have high regard for the president and for Bob Mueller,” Giuliani said in an interview.

Giuliani wants to “quickly” resolve the investigation. He wants to “speed it up.” And he wants to “negotiate an end” to it. In other words, he’s less a lawyer than he is an ambassador to Robert Mueller. And apparently he thinks he can wrap things up in just a few weeks.

Okey-dokey.
