They have ready-made instant "prisoners," and by keeping their babies, they are almost guaranteed that they will have repeat offenders. And of course, Trump and company will continually bring up the fact that they have no rights here in the US. No asylum, no path to citizenship, no rights - human or otherwise. It's a brilliant plan. Almost fool-proof (there's a joke there, but I won't go there).
Think about it, the trump regime has asked for the construction of facilities to house the immigrants to the tune of 20,000 units.

Also, by holding the babies hostage, they hope to lure in the relatives, if any, already living in the shadows here in the US. Hell, even if they do have proper paperwork, who's to say that they won't be lied to as well. Just think, there are millions out there just waiting to fill these "shelters." If the relatives come to retrieve their family, the trap will be set

Quiet as it's kept, the regime is busy with plans to reduce or completely
