1) America has lost good manufacturing jobs. This is not only an economic burden but a security risk. I vow to bring jobs back, and to withdraw from any free trade agreement which takes away our sovereign rights and puts them in some faraway secret court.

2) At the same time, we have spent trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives fighting other people's fights overseas. No more. Since World War II, other nations have risen up to claim their share of the economy; it's time that they claim their share of their own protection and that we claim our peace dividend.

3) We have the resources and the people willing to make this nation great again. Black or white, woman or man, gay or straight, I promise a meritocracy: That you will rise as high as your talent and hard work will take you. A future of meaningful work, as we rebuild our roads and bridges, restore our environment, heal and teach ourselves; harden our cyber infrastructure; and become again not only that shining city on a hill, but a resilient and durable nation - one that will thrive for as long as we can imagine.

Together, we will be ever-vigilant and strong but no longer carrying our weapons of war abroad unless our vital interests are threatened. Instead, we will do what this great nation needs to do to truly rise up again: Heal, teach, build, restore, and dream, so that we can once again face our future with hope instead of fear, uncertainty, and doubt. We know what needs to be done, let's roll up our sleeves and get to work.

Why not be more specific, Signym? I want to see words like this from the GOP, because the Democrats won't say them:

"1) Foreign goods are stealing American jobs. We already stop all foreigners at the border. We can stop all foreign goods, too, and bring those stolen jobs back to Americans.

2) We spend too much on fighting foreigners' wars for them. We can stop by decreasing the defense budget 5%, or even 10%, per year until the foreigners are fighting their own wars with each other and America watches the slaughter on TV.

3) A true meritocracy is what America needs. What makes you think you deserve a minimum wage higher than what your employer thinks you merit? Do away with the minimum and let the workers only get paid more than the old minimum if they produce more than before the minimum was banned. Does your employer think that white people and Christians and college graduates and Republicans merit higher pay than you? Then change your religion and bleach your skin and produce a Master's thesis and vote for me, Donald J Trump, showing your employer that you merit a pay raise."

I look forward to Trump translating vague promises into specific actions and winning a second term in 2020.

If these are "just words" CC, then why can't the Dems bring themselves to say them, even if they're lying just to get votes? (I think I know the answer but I'd be curious to see what you think.)

So what's the point of posting this? Just to slam Dems and deflect from the Holy Evil that is the Republican party?? Of course - bored now.- CC
You bore easily. Must be from being on social media so much.

The point is that Dems CLAIM to be progressive and inclusive, but their message isn't. And it's not because it's so hard to do ... If I could craft a progressive and inclusive message off the top of my head, I'm sure one could be crafted by the Dems. It has nothing to do with blacks or whites or women or men or gays or straights, it's aimed at working Americans (or Americans who want to work) and it's really quite easy. So why don't they do it?

Signym, you did NOT craft a progressive message, except in your imagination. Your "meritocracy" talk? The people like me with the most merit end up controlling everything. I end up setting the wages of everyone working beneath me. I could be paying much less. I could be paying the market rate, as a Republican would, which is the minimum you can find employees to accept. To explain how the Signym/GOP "meritocracy" would work: www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2017/06/the-perils-of-merito
cracy/532215
/

What happens in a Signym/GOP meritocracy is that top 50% (but really the power is more concentrated as you move toward the top 0.1%) will control the lives of the bottom people, the "working" people that Trump and Signym care about so very deeply and sincerely because the people at the top have the most "merit". It just so happens that with a little more "merit" comes a lot more money, especially in the US and Great Britain, but even without all the money, the people with the most "merit" would be running things.

That is the setup America has had for centuries. The GOP politicians are very comfortable with it. The Democrats cannot even talk about tearing it down because they would alienate everybody in the top 50%, never again winning an election outside of Vermont.

The most a Democrat can do is talk about gradually expanding Social Security or Medicare, programs that help people in the bottom 50%. Or creating Obamacare for those not on Medicare. The GOP has nothing comparable. It is all about reducing taxes with the GOP, but most of the reduction goes to the top 50%. Or reducing imports, but most of the new wealth from factories in the U.S. would go to the factory owners, not the employees. Factory owners are relentless about finding ways to automate the work and fire the employees. In the past, the factory owners automated the work by hiring cheap human robots in Asia and Mexico, but mechanical robots will eventually get good enough to move the work back to America. Either a robot or a minimum wage American is the future employee of these factories.

Merit isn't all about money... or at least it doesn't have to be.

My new manager got screwed on scheduling because somebody approved way too many vacations a little over a week from now. In order to get some extra coverage on days he needed it, he asked if I would be willing to start my next work week a few days later so I could work a few of those days he will be short staffed.

Sure thing. Now my 7 day weekend is a 10 day weekend. :)

I was chatting with the store manager and one of the day shift managers who has been working overnights for a while the other morning and they're thrilled that I was willing to do that.

Yeah... I'll never be rich working here, but I've ensured that they've found other ways to compensate me for my efforts. I've got a schedule that probably nobody in that store has ever had an that the management envies. I've also never worked in a large company where I was this well known and respected before either. I used to work overnights babysitting mainframes for nearly 60k a year, but outside of about a dozen other people that worked overnights and some people I'd turn over to in the morning, nobody there even knew who I was. I was a non-entity.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Or, might it not be - GASP!- the oligarchy, which consists not only of old white men (Bill Clinton, GWB) but also old white women (Hillary), middle-aged black men (Obama), Jews, gays, young white men (Steve Jobs, who sent most of the Apple manufacturing jobs to China) and anyone else wealthy enough to have the power to make you poorer? If you're serious, you exemplify everything wrong with the Dems today.

Signym, what should be dropped from the Democrats message to get votes from the so-called "Independents" who went for Trump? (ha-ha, I never met an self described "independent" who did not capriciously, randomly, emotionally swing back and forth between Democrat and Republican)

There are CRITICAL POINTS THAT NEED TO BE ADDED:

1) End our endless (undeclared) wars abroad and cut military spending. We have been fucking one nation after another ... often more than one at a time! ... for the past 30 years or more. On top of that, we have roughly 1200 military installations across the globe, and troops in something like 180 of the 193 recognized nations.
http://www.visualcapitalist.com/u-s-military-personnel-deployments-cou
ntry
/

That's seriously insane. We've been hemorrhaging almost continuously since Vietnam. HALF of our budget goes to warfare, and it's creating a debt burden and preventing us from doing vital things. Promising all of those wonderful things that the Dems promise is completely undoable in the face of a giant military budget.

2) End illegal immigration. You can't have a huge surplus of cheap labor constantly flowing into the nation and still promise to "RAISE INCOMES AND RESTORE ECONOMIC SECURITY FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS" and "Raising Workers’ Wages". The law of supply and demand still works for labor.

3) Stay out of trade deals that hand over our sovereign power to foreign trade tribunals. Do you think, SECOND (And please, THINK about this for a change!) that you would be able to craft ANY sort of regulation at ANY level (Federal, state, county, or city) about ANYthing - worker safety, wages, environmental protection, product safety etc - that would withstand the full weight of a multinational consortium if it was found to decrease normal and expected profits in a trade tribunal court?

These are NECESSARY steps to recovery. (I could name a few more.) If the Dems are so free with empty promises, why won't they promise the few things that they need to do so that they can fulfill their other promises?

*****
So, as to their rest of their bull-twaddle ... Before I give money to a charity ... or hire a worker ... I want to know that they're going to DO by examining what they're DONE. I've drilled down pretty far into CV's and charities like the Susan Komen Foundation (scam) and the American Cancer Society (scam).

When I start seeing phrases like ... "participated in" or "ensured" or "fought for" I hear that Charlie Brown wha-wha-wha sound in my head. Not only are the Dems extremely wobbly on HOW they plan to get "there" from "here", they're pretty vague about WHAT they intend to do.

Quote:

Protecting ... Supporting ... Helping ... Protecting and Expanding ... Revitalizing ... Fostering ... Pursuing ... Supporting ... FIGHT FOR (my all-time favorite meaningless phrase, right up there with "FIGHT AGAINST") ... Fixing ... Promoting ... Promoting ... BRING AMERICANS TOGETHER (Now THAT'S chutzpah!) ... Reforming ... Guaranteeing ... Guaranteeing ... Guaranteeing ... Guaranteeing ...
As an aside I would say that "guaranteeing" those various "rights" specifically to women, non-whites, disabled, LGBTQetc and "ending" racism are REDUNDANT to their goal of
Quote:

FIGHT [weasel word] ... AGAINST INEQUALITY

Can't we just say that everyone deserves to be treated equally and leave it at that? Is there a problem with women etc that they can't take "yes" for an answer but must be assuaged with constant and specific reassurances?

I will say that the Dems should also rephrase their goals of social assistance and simply say

Quote:

Medicare for all
Negotiate better drug prices
Fully fund Medicare and Social Security

Signym, you joke, yes? Since when did money stop being connected to "merit" in America? The key words are "in America". Other countries might not revolve around money, but America most definitely does, and that makes many people bitter, for example firefighters and police are arguing in an upcoming November vote about who is more important to saving lives in Houston and who merits higher pay. Is it policemen? Or firemen? Vote for your favorite and they will get a raise!

Getting to the real topic: In countries where we see a lot of minority rule, it comes with a lot of violence. Political systems depend on all sides believing in the legitimacy of outcomes. In America, that legitimacy is in danger. And it’s only going to get worse. Why?

Since 2000, fully 40 percent of presidential elections have been won by the loser of the popular vote. Republicans control the US Senate despite winning fewer votes than Democrats, and it’s understood that House Democrats need to beat Republicans by as much as 8 points in the popular vote to hold a majority in the chamber. Next year, it’s possible that Republicans will control the presidency and both chambers of Congress despite having received fewer votes for the White House in 2016 and for the House and Senate in 2018.

Kavanaugh now serves on a Supreme Court where four of the nine justices were nominated by a president who lost the popular vote in his initial run for office, and where the 5-4 conservative majority owes its existence to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s extraordinary decision to deny Merrick Garland a hearing.

Kavanaugh and this Court will rule on the constitutionality of gerrymandering, voter ID laws, campaign finance, and more; that is to say, Kavanaugh will rule on cases that will shape who holds, and who can effectively wield political power in the future.

There is an explanation of why this will explode at www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/10/16/17951596/kavanaugh-trump-se

MOST PEOPLE, SECOND, don't connect money with merit. They work hard, pay their taxes, raise their families, and do the things they need to do because it's the right thing to do, not because it makes them a crap-ton of money.

Now, under the influence of greedy assholes - people who seek to create a system where they can comfortably bleed everyone else dry without sticking out like moral pariahs - they WILL foster greedy consumerist individualism (the point of all of our advertising!) and create a "gangster" culture for the peons. You are making an argument that Americans are machines trapped in a system not designed by them. Some Americans are certainly like self-driving cars: consuming gasoline or electricity, going places not because the place is important to the Waymo designed car but rather important to the political party that is pressing the buttons on the interface to the car/voter.

Getting back to politics: By 2040, 70 percent of Americans will live in the 15 largest states. That means 70 percent of Americans will be represented by only 30 senators, while the other 30 percent of Americans will be represented by 70 senators.

It is not difficult to imagine an America where Republicans consistently win the presidency despite rarely winning the popular vote, where they control both the House and the Senate despite rarely winning more votes than the Democrats, where their dominance of the Supreme Court is unquestioned (Kavanaugh again), and where all this power is used to buttress a system of partisan gerrymandering and pro-corporate campaign finance laws and strict voter ID requirements.

If this seems outlandish, well, it simply describes the world we live in now, and assumes it continues forward. Look at North Carolina, where Republican legislators are trying to change the state Constitution to gain power over both elections and courts. Look at Wisconsin, where state Republicans gerrymandered the seats to make Democratic control a near impossibility. Look at Citizens United, which research finds gave Republicans a 5 percentage point boost in elections for state legislators. Look at Georgia, where the GOP candidate for governor currently serves as secretary of state and is executing a voter purge designed to help him win office.

How long will a Democratic coalition that has more numbers but less political power accept this system? And what will happen when they fight back?

I don't have a problem with the DNC platform and I'm not gonna waste effort trying to persuade somebody who I will never know and can't even be sure they live in America, to change their minds. Signym, didn't you say you voted for Trump? Every last Texan I know who voted for Trump was a dumbass in my opinion long before they voted in 2016. Since then, none of them have acted in any way to make me think they will ever be anything other than a dumbass deserving to be fired from their jobs, divorced by their wives, disowned by the children, thrown in jail, repoed their pickup trucks, houses caught fire, or dead by suicide. All of those things have happened to one or another of these Trump-voting-Texans. I expect a great deal more chaos in their personal lives during the rest of the Trump administration. The thinking that made them vote for Trump is the same thinking that is ruining their lives.

Signym, I did not call you a lying sack of shit for no reason. I did not call you a Russian Troll for no reason. I did not say that I would apologize to you if you were not a troll for no reason since I feel sorry for you being a crazy American if you are not a Russian troll. Do you get the point? You have written hundreds of thousands of words. I have read them all and I have decided about you, Signym. I decided about Trump when he was cheating investors in his casino operations, too. Neither Signym, 1kiki or Trump deserve anything but my contempt for your requests or feelings.

It was the day after Xmas 2007 that I downloaded the four files of “The Century of the Self”
12/26/2007 10:40 AM
12/26/2007 10:53 AM
12/26/2007 11:28 AM
12/26/2007 11:30 AM

I also have “The Power of Nightmares”, another documentary by the same writer/director/narrator that I downloaded in 2006. Similar to “The Century of the Self” it is also about manipulating people. I am all too familiar with how people make obviously bad decisions. It is as if they aren’t really thinking at all, but being manipulated, although they will insist they have free will.

I also saw this excellent story today: “McConnell Blames Entitlements, Not GOP, for Rising Deficits”
www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-10-16/mcconnell-blames-entitlemen
ts-not-gop-for-rising-deficits

The GOP is trying to poison, even murder, Social Security and Medicare, the two signature Democratic Party programs, while at the same time the GOP insists it is doing no such thing. An American who believes McConnell about entitlements is an American who is a half-wit, easily manipulated by McConnell. For those who have forgotten, Kavanaugh is on the Supreme Court because of McConnell.

I'm glad that you downloaded "A Century of Self" and "The Power of Nightmares". I hope you watched them instead of just acquiring them and understand how Americans ARE caught in a system that they didn't make. Because you seem to be a little unclear on that point.

An American who believes McConnell about entitlements is an American who is a half-wit, easily manipulated by McConnell.

Who said anything about believing McConnell?

Are you arguing with the voices in your head, again?

Try to follow my logic on this, if at all possible:

Social Security and Medicare will be dead, dead, dead unless our economy improves. (And no, I don't believe Trump that it's going so great, just as I didn't believe Obama.) If "they" raise SSI/Medicare taxes, it will be dead later; if they don't raise taxes it will be dead sooner. But Social Security, and Mediare, like the ACA, ultimately depend on the health of the American economy to generate taxes for the government so that these programs can continue because ultimately, as they say, you can't wring blood out of a stone.

We need to grow the REAL economy - the economy of jobs, production, and consumption - if we want to balance our budget. That being said, I do NOT believe that tax cuts for business are the magic elixir for the economy; in fact quite the opposite and I've argued that often. OTOH, tax increases only go so far if the revenues of the businesses that you're taxing go down. I have ideas on how to grow the economy, and it involves SOME of what Trump is doing; and I think tariffs are an important part of re-growing our industrial base because if you raise wages without increasing production, those higher wages will simply go to China to buy Chinese goods. But that's a whole 'nother discussion which I won't get into because very time I've tried to explain it, you've ignored what I posted in favor of arguing with the voices in your head. Again..

Now, one of the things I find curious about the Dems (not the Repubs) is that the DNC isn't pointing to the ginormous MILITARY BUDGET as a big source of our deficit woes.

THAT IS ONE OF THE BIG BLANKS SPOTS IN THEIR PROGRAM, AND ONE OF THOSE ISSUES WHERE I HAVE TO USE THE "OTHER" OPTION ON ALL OF THE SURVEYS THAT THEY KEEP SENDING OUT, BECAUSE THEY SEEM TO BE STUDIOUSLY AVOIDING THE TOPIC. WHY IS THAT?

Of all the thing Bill Clinton did wrong, cutting military spending and raising the minimum wage were the two good things.

So if you would address THAT point, instead of (once again) arguing with the voices in your head, it would be helpful.

Oh, I remember reading that criticism of Thomas many many years ago ... a history of his votes and how closely they mirrored Scalia's, along with an analysis of his written opinions. In fact, at the time of that analysis, I believe he had written ZERO opinions; altho I could be wrong. Over the years, whenever a SC ruling came down, I never found any reason to change that opinion of Thomas. You never hear his opinions quoted, for example. - SIGNY

Not sure how you could be more wrong.
Whenever I heard respected, successful, intelligent Law Professionals discussing Justice Thomas, it is always reflecting that he has the Greatest Opinions of the History of SCOTUS, the most stable and reasoned. I am sure you have found a lesser Standard to inform your bias. Pity.

Actually, I mis-remembered the statistic: Clarence Thomas (almost) never asks questions from the bench

Signym, did you not notice that Trump increased the military budget over what Obama was forced to spend by a GOP controlled Congress? All those extra bombs Trump is buying and storing for a future war will eventually be dropped on some country for no other reason than to justify buying still more new bombs. The Trump administration — with help from the Republican-controlled Congress — has added more than $200 billion to Obama's projected levels of defense spending.

I was posting about the DEMS position. Are you saying that just because Trump has a bad policy on something, the Dems should be as bad?

I'm looking for an IMPROVEMENT over Trump, one that addresses "free" trade, illegal immigration, the Federal deficit, and the economy in ways that don't appeal to identity politics. If you insist that the Dems can be excused by anything that Trump does, you're setting the bar pretty low, aren't you?

But more than likely, you're just avoiding answering that question. It's like a third rail for Dems .... having spent so much political capital on convincing their base of RUSSIA!!RUSSIA!!RUSSIA!!! they can hardly back down and ask for military budget reductions, can they?

May I suggest you start a third party that matches all your criteria? Because no Democrat is gonna change the party platform in order to get a vague promise from Signym or 1kiki to vote for Democrats. It would be crazy because you are a Russian. Oh BTW, SECOND, I don't accept your point that "the economy" does better under Dems than under Republicans. You gave two links ...

One was a comparison of Kansas versus California. But why not ... Texas to Pennsylvania? Or Utah to New Jersey? Or Wyoming to Maine? (All would show the reverse of what Krugman claims) In order to be FAIR and OBJECTIVE (something Krugman has no interesting in, it seems) Krugman would have to compare ALL "red states" to ALL "blue states" over the same time period. That article, IMHO simply doesn't count, because of it's intended bias.

And, even then, IMHO the usual figures of "growth" and "unemployment" and "inflation" have been so manipulated that they no longer show anything real.

Quote:

Take Bill Clinton’s line at the 2012 Democratic Convention: “Since 1961, for 52 years now, the Republicans have held the White House 28 years, the Democrats 24…. In those 52 years, our private economy has produced 66 million private-sector jobs. So what's the jobs score? Republicans 24 million, Democrats 42 [million].”
As you've so kindly pointed out,
1) It takes more than a President to make policy, and even then,
2) The Fed has a huge effect on what happens thanks to its interest-rate-setting power.
3) In addition, it can take four or more years for any particular policy to have an effect, like how the economy waited to tank right at the end of Bush's reign, leaving Obama with the mess.

Which is why that article is so suspect. Even (notoriously biased) Paul Krugman said (IN THE ARTICLE THAT YOU LINKED)

Quote:

Another Princeton economist, the noted liberal Nobel laureate Paul Krugman, wrote in his New York Times column that Blinder and Watson looked at various explanations and “found all of them wanting. There’s no indication that the Democratic advantage can be explained by better monetary and fiscal policies. Democrats seem, on average, to have had better luck than Republicans on oil prices and technological progress.”

So you'll have to come up with better evidence before you convince me that Dems are better at managing an economy than Repubs.

Signym, two things:

1) I'm voting for the Democrats, but if the GOP wins then I am going to win a dump truck full of money in the form of reduced taxes and government regulations. And if the GOP crashes the stock market, as its mishandling of the financial industry caused in 2008, I will make an 18-wheeler full of money from all the cheap stocks that I shall buy from panicky sellers. Signym, you repeat in your signature: "The messy American environment, where most people don't agree, is perfect for people like me. I CAN DO AS I PLEASE." And I won't give the money back to GOP voters if and when Democrats momentarily win an election.

2) Signym, did you ever see the TV show The Americans? It's about Russian spies passing themselves off as Americans. From the weird bent of Signym's and 1kiki's minds, you two could be those "Americans". Or you could be Paige, their daughter, who stayed behind while her parents fled back to Russia.

You have a preternatural endurance for throwing shit at a wall to see what sticks; you do it over, and over, and over ... You avoid answering questions directly and you're incredibly deeply conflicted over ... everything. If there was anyone on this website with snakes in their head, it would be you. I'm straightforward by comparison!

Even tho I think you are probably Russian, Siggy, I agree with alot uv wut you say about how to run the country.

And from my perspectiv, you and 2nd arent so far apart on most issuez. The big exeptionz alwayz involv Putin'z puppet.

About the Dem party - They looz bekuz they stik to the rulez in electionz. The GoPs attitude iz 'wutevr we can get away with' so they win. They hav been attacking the institutionz that referee the fite forever and are making significant progress lately.

lol. That's not the reason the Democrats have been losing lately. That has ALWAYS been the case with Republicans, so nothing has changed there.

The Democrats have no cohesive message. They're lost in identity politics and political correctness and everybody in the center is turning on them now.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I think you are crediting the majority uv voterz with too much attention.

Like most subjects, peepl dont spend alot uv time delving into detailz. They just assume its wut theyv herd befor and move on to more important biz, like getting their nacho dip ready for the big game party. So 'Democrat' bekumz the folder in their brain they toss all thingz that seem to fit, same for 'Republican'.

Wich also haz the label 'good' or 'bad' dependz on the voter.

So the idea that they are going to dig up and read every bit of pozition statements on the issuez and then deside wether they will vote for candidate a or b or c iznt realistic.

Go to most campane websites and you will find broad brushstrokes uv bland vague unformation intended to not offend az wide a variety uv voterz az possible.

Well... right.

Look at the hills that the Democrats have been dying on recently.

How many actual issues that will effect voters have been discussed in the leadups to the mid-terms?

I can't actually think of any. The Republicans aren't saying anything, and the Democrats are either running on an anti-Trump message or doubling down on identity politics left and right and losing every time. Nobody even talks about Kavanaugh anymore, even in this Kavanaugh thread. Two months from now, nobody will even remember who Ford was.

The only race regarding issues that I've seen is the PV insider videos getting Senator McCaskill to admit that she fully intends to go after gun rights once there are enough seats in the house to do it, but she won't run on that message since she's defending a seat in a red state. Whoops.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I agree. But voters DO vote on broad brush strokes, which is why there were so many crossover voters from Trump.

Which makes it all the more puzzling as to why the Democrat Party can't even paint those broad brush strokes:

Medicare for all (negotiate better prescription prices)
Peace
Good jobs
Environmental restoration
End illegal immigration

The Dems avoid the top three, which I think would be tremendously appealing cross-boundary vote-getters, like they were the plague. Why?

Again, I think I know why, but the fact that they can't.quite.seem.to.get.there. should be a giant red flag about who controls the party's real agenda.

wow.
Those are your top 3 for attracting voters? I imagine a lot of Dems are thrilled you are not running their Party.

But I think DNC should do what you say.

Not sure if this got buried.

Why is it that Democrats and other Socialist/Communists/Liberals are outraged that a woman be allowed in the Senate Chamber? A Professional, a proven competent Prosecutor, not unless she is a Token, like Democrats view women and minorities? I did not see it, but heard excellent clips and summaries - was she too attractive for Democrats to be placated? Were all the fugly Democrap Senators jealous of her?

Why is it that Democrats hate women, while Conservatives openly and repeatedly give women a chance, support women, encourage women, give them a tough and demanding stage to display their talents and skills?

Well, of course, we already knew Democrats hate women. That's why they keep releasing Serial Rapists and pedophiles ASAP at every opportunity.
Plus supporting BJ Clinton for raping women in the White House.

Yes, I think the Dems craft their message as one of vengeance for the victimized, when the formerly downtrodden rise up, and step on the faces of who they THINK are their former oppressors. And, SHINY, if you doubt me, just look at the rest of your post ...

Oh yeah, THAT'LL bring Americans together!

SHINY, all you're doing is pitting people to fight over an ever-shrinking pie. Do you think it's "old white men" who made our economic pie shrink? Or, might it not be - GASP!- the oligarchy, which consists not only of old white men (Bill Clinton, GWB) but also old white women (Hillary), middle-aged black men (Obama), Jews, gays, young white men (Steve Jobs, who sent most of the Apple manufacturing jobs to China) and anyone else wealthy enough to have the power to make you poorer? If you're serious, you exemplify everything wrong with the Dems today.

*****
Why can't they craft a message like this?

America has lost good manufacturing jobs. This is not only an economic burden but a security risk. I vow to bring jobs back, and to withdraw from any free trade agreement which takes away our sovereign rights and puts them in some faraway secret court.

At the same time, we have spent trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of lives fighting other people's fights overseas. No more. Since World War II, other nations have risen up to claim their share of the economy; it's time that they claim their share of their own protection and that we claim our peace dividend.

We have the resources and the people willing to make this nation great again.

You're hyper-focused on race and sex. Anyone who is focused on race and sex to the exclusion of everything else is a racist and sexist. Much of the problem is based on economics, but you're too busy thinking about skin color, sex, and age to notice.
