If you (or Trump) really believe shutdowns are the way to "National security" then this shutdown should never end until it gives you (or Trump) what you want. But the GOP has failed many times by initiating shutdowns and ending them too soon. I believe this time will be the same, other than being a longer shutdown than usual.

Mitch McConnell will not bring any bills to vote in the Senate for ending the shutdown unless the bill is pre-approved by Donald Trump. Trump has approved nothing, unless it includes his Wall. It is Trump and McConnell working together to make every solution, except the one that has a Wall, impossible. By the way, Mitch McConnell is on vacation today. He understands what he and Trump are doing perfectly well. That is why he is back in Tennessee for the weekend.

That verbal judo won't work for Trump. Trump discarded his leverage from the very start, by declaring for the cameras that the budget shutdown was his decision, his responsibility. When the shutdown began to hurt, Trump and his surrogates hastily tried to transfer the onus — but it was too late. Everybody knew that it was Trump’s doing, and that it was done for reasons rejected by large majorities of Americans.

Trump didn't realize how much stuff that should never be shutdown that he shutdown without thinking first.
