Lots of red in Red States. And Blue in States which voted Trump in 2016, after Voting for these clowns in 2014.

Who really believes Alabama will stay Blue in 2020? Dems don't have much money, and won't be able to decide where to spend it.

Looks like GOP picks up another Senate Seat, plus maybe NM, MI, VA, NJ.

These ideas aren't terribly recent. But the author, in haste perhaps to be too 'gee whiz!' - didn't include the appropriate caveats. Genetics, and even evolutionary environment, aren't destiny. Sometimes a quirk of fate or some unknown factor intervenes.

For example, everyone knows that baboons are brutish and violent creatures. It's just the way they are. Until they're not. In Kenya in 1986, a self-selected group of violent dominant males cornered the beef meat in a dump, excluded the others, and pigged out. They then contracted bovine tuberculosis from that meat, and those males all died.

The violent culture did a 180, and peaceability persisted to at least 2006 (the last reference I found), despite the fact that adult males in a troop are always immigrants from other, normal, violent troops.
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2004/04/kinder-gentler-baboon

There's also the bottlenose dolphins, whose global mating rituals are essentially gang rape - except for the genetically identical bottlenose dolphins of western Australia, whose courtship is one-on-one, tender, and gentle.

As long as enough offspring survive to themselves procreate, evolution doesn't seem to have a whole lot of interest in how that happens.

That said, there are a few things I think are ingrained in human response (not that we can't see past them, just that on the whole they determine the vast majority of human action)-
1) We are tribal, and that leads us to see solutions primarily through conflict with the others. I gave a hypothetical example many years ago of two identical villages near a river. Over time, the villages grow and grow, till easily accessed resources become scare. The answer, which will allow both villages to thrive indefinitely and peacefully into the future, is to each limit population growth. But under stress, it's been observed that human fertility increases and populations grow (and the opposite is true, which is called the demographic transition). I think of this population spurt as preparation for war. (Human fertility is unlike other animals, whose fertility and populations track with resources).
2) Concentrated resources easily dominated by a few lead to hierarchical behavior. Goodall observed this when she tried to temp common chimps into her clearing with piles of fruit. After taking copious notes of extreme dominant behavior for a number of months, it occurred to her that she never saw any of the mutual, sociable behavior that had been observed in the past. And she realized that tasty fruit piled up in one place never, ever occurs in nature. Tropical trees fruit at all times of year scattered through the forest, since they're not on a summer/ winter schedule. When she distributed the fruit more naturally, that behavior stopped.
That tracks pretty well with hunter-gatherer societies that have to move around to find food, and don't accumulate a lot of possessions (too hard to lug around!). They're egalitarian.

That said, there are flukes like the peaceable baboons and courtly dolphins that shouldn't exist given their genetic and evolutionary lineage. I don't think anyone has the answer to human nature, and what we're capable of.

There is something to say about tribalism. Those "alliances" can also prove to be fleeting.

I didn't give two shits about race or sex back in the early to late 2000's, and nobody else did either. I was much more liberal back then, although I was never a Democrat, just like I'm not a Republican today.

The loud vocal minority that runs the colleges and the MSM have let it be known loud and clear that I'm not welcome. I'm not about to cuck up and become an ally to people who voice their disapproval of my very existence.

Because we only have two parties in this shit show we call American Politics, that really only leaves me with one other option. But anybody here who bothers reading my posts on different topics could see that I'm still very much at odds with a lot of typical Republican ways of thinking.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I think tribalism demands loyalty and conformity. That's what I see in the people here like THUGGER, REAVER, SHINY, and SECOND. They never fail to sniff each other's butts, lick each other's faces, and howl the same chorus, in a show of being mindlessly one group.

As fans of a show extolling the individual, they're the exact opposite.

I wish every Dem running for Prez would watch the movie Stick It. It's a gymnastics movie where the gymnasts band together and pick who will win because they know who is the best candidate for the Olympics better than anyone. It'd be a lot healthier than everyone trying to stick a hand in the pot and coming up with nothing.

Yup.

Which is why I said before that I don't know if somebody at FOX was trolling Trump or was trolling voters on either side with that poll.

It might have passed as somewhat believable if it showed only Biden winning by a small margin, but the tell that this is completely fake is that it shows Trump losing to Biden, Sanders, Warren, Harris and Buttegieg.

A lot of the polls in the RCP aggregates for the Democratic Primary show that Sanders, Warren and Harris (or Buttegieg switched for 4th with Harris) combined don't have as many points as Biden. But this single joke of a FOX poll shows all 5 of them beating Trump.

Biden and Sanders have already been #MeToo'd, and that's only going to pick up as the primaries keep on. They're both also old white men, which is going to turn off a lot of Democratic voters who's identity politics are their driving force. Warren was already caught lying for decades about her race to break the glass ceiling, and if she was ever in serious contention for the pick that's going to come back to haunt her and Trump himself would destroy her in debates. I honestly don't know much about Harris or Buttegieg except for the fact that they do appeal to those voting for identity politics for purely superficial reasons (Harris = Minority Woman, Buttegieg = Gay Man). I don't think that will be enough for either of them to secure the Democratic Nomination, especially when it seems that the DNC is fully on board with Biden as their pick right now.

If you're going to believe any polling results, you have to at the very least take an aggregate from a place like RCP and never rely on a single poll that is telling you what you want to hear. Even then, the polling data was entirely incorrect in 2016.

I think that's a huge part of where we find ourselves today, and the anger that those who took it personally felt when their "side" lost. Would we have videos of people screaming and crying when the results came in if they hadn't been so blatantly lied to an entire year leading up to the election?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

A tactic he surely learned as a lifelong Democrat himself.

A tactic, which should also be mentioned, which propagated for years by the Liberal media in the run up to the election is how millions of Democrats found their spirits crushed in 2016.

A tactic which the Liberal media seems to be erroneously using again in 2020.

Me and the Captain might agree on virtually nothing, but at least he learned from the mistake of 2016 and isn't going to let that happen to him again. That in itself is the only evidence I've seen here that the lot of you aren't completely static NPC characters. The Captain is actually a human being. I'm not sure about the rest of you.

Guy's a complete loser. If Dems want to attract Undecideds, he ain't it. He's as good for the Dems as Ilhan or AOC or any of the squad. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't a Trump strategy.

Now you're thinking, bud.

Half of me thinks that Cenk Uygur and the Justice Democrats are all on Trump's payroll too.

I see this as Trump turning his own against him. I see as some perhaps are seeing, the coming tide of change. Perhaps the beginning of Trumps cronies wanting to distance themselves.

That said, I too have many images in my head of his white washing and deflecting from the truth about Trump. Way too many times for him to be creditably rehabilitated in my eyes.

Good they caught them. Throw them in the slammer and throw away the key. This should be considered Treason.

Then, after they do that, eliminate all early voting everywhere and eliminate the absentee ballot system completely.

If you're too busy, or you can't get your sorry lazy ass out to vote on election day, you don't deserve a vote.

Period.

Haley-Pence rivalry heats up as GOP weighs post-Trump future

When top Republicans convened at the St. Regis resort in Aspen, Colo. last month for an exclusive donor retreat, several attendees said there was palpable tension in the room as the gathering’s two headliners prepared to speak: Vice President Mike Pence and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley.

At a time when Republicans are starting to contemplate what their party will look like after Donald Trump leaves office, a rivalry has developed between the two politicians who cut markedly different profiles — and signs of strain are bubbling to the surface.
