You talk about Trump more in one day than you talk about Biden* in a year.

What I need to know at this point is what family member wore a Trump mask when you were a kid and point on the doll where they touched you.

Trump had serious mental problems at work. The tax cheating. Being sued. Lying all the time. The non-stop running of his mouth. Running a real estate business that he said was in a blind trust, but wasn't. Presidents are suppose to get paper work done while at work, like Biden does. Presidents are not suppose to watch TV until noon then come into work after lunch, like Trump did, drunk on his own magnificence.

Not to overturn.

To weed out the fraud and make things right.

But we're happy with how things went after the steal. It's easy for the normies to wake up to reality when Democrats destroy the economy in two years.

Keep that inflation coming, Joe*. And keep lying about it while you're fucking everything else you touch up too.

Riggleman, an ex-military intelligence officer and former Republican congressman from Virginia, told 60 Minutes his analysis of the Meadows' text messages lead him to believe they were a "roadmap to an attempted coup." More than 2,000 text messages were provided to the committee by President Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows.

"With your background in information analysis, when you read these texts, what does that sound like to your trained ear?" Whitaker asked.

"It sounded like, honestly, the way that they talked, and the way that they referred to this, this 'epic struggle,' almost sounded like me looking at foreign terrorist groups in my past," Riggleman said.

Don Trump Jr texted Meadows with the plan that was only halfway carried out on Jan 6th. (Shooting Ashli Babbitt dead stopped Junior's plan dead. One bullet stopped them? What would 100 bullets have done? The Trumps wouldn't have been able to hide from they had planned if there were a hundred corpses to explain!)

Exxon Mobil, AT&T, Valero finance candidates who tried to overturn 2020 election

Corporations say one thing publicly but do the opposite privately, government filings show.

America’s largest and wealthiest corporations promised to promote civil rights and democracy after the Black Lives Matters protests and right-wing attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, but data collected by a nonprofit called Accountable.US shows it was mostly hot air. https://www.americandemocracyscorecard.org/

The nonpartisan group examined securities filings and campaign finance records from the Fortune 100 list of top publicly traded companies and graded them on 14 criteria. Eleven of the 14 corporations based in Texas received an F. Tesla had the highest grade with a B.

Most of us know to only believe some or none of what you hear from a corporate public relations office. Any business journalist will tell you to only believe half of what you see. Accountable.US started by examining whether a company made any pledges after the protests of 2020 and 2021 and then where they spent their political contributions, according to campaign finance reports.

Seven of Texas’ 14 companies are in the petroleum business: ConocoPhillips, Energy Transfer, Enterprise Products Partners, Exxon Mobil, Phillips 66, Plains GP Holdings and Valero Energy. None issued statements defending voting rights, and only Valero condemned the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, promising to suspend political contributions to lawmakers who tried to overturn the election.

The energy industry’s failure to speak up for civil rights and democracy is significant because fossil fuel companies and their employees are the largest donors to Texas Republican politicians. If oil and gas executives were to demand democracy, Republicans would pay attention.

Instead, San Antonio-headquartered Valero ended up giving $150,000 to politicians who voted against certifying the 2020 election results during the 2022 election cycle, records show. The company’s executives and political action arms gave $33,000 to state officials who voted for legislation restricting voting rights.

Soon-to-be Houston-based Exxon Mobil provided $118,000 to members of Congress who tried to stop Joe Biden from becoming president and $340,000 to federal lawmakers who opposed expanding voting protections. The company’s executives and PACs gave $70,000 to Texas officials who passed voting restrictions.

In terms of hypocrisy, though, Dallas-based AT&T takes the cake. The company declared that the right to vote is sacred and suspended donations to politicians who objected to certifying the 2020 elections results. Actions, though, speak louder than words.

AT&T helped fund the One America Network, known as OAN, which spreads disinformation and conspiracy theories surrounding voting and the election. The company gave $560,000 to members of Congress who opposed federal voting rights legislation.

The telecommunications company then resumed donations to representatives and senators who tried to overturn the 2020 election, giving them $135,000. AT&T executives and PACs gave $617,000 to Texas officials who passed tighter voter restrictions.

A transplant from California to Austin scored the highest on Accountable.US’ scorecard. Tesla joined the Business for Voting Rights Coalition and did not give any money to a politician who opposed the 2020 election or supported new voting restrictions.

Then again, Tesla does not have a political action committee. By staying out of politics, it’s easy to get a passing grade.

Rounding out the Texas corporations, Houston-based food company Sysco and San Antonio-based financial firm USAA both received Fs, and Irving-based health care company McKesson failed, too. Austin tech firms Dell and Oracle received a C and D, respectively.

“Americans overwhelmingly say corporations should stand up for democracy, yet we’re seeing the vast majority of major companies failing miserably,” Kyle Her-rig, Accountable.US’ president, said. “Corporate executives know their customers, employees and shareholders want to buy from, work for, or invest in a company that shares their values, not just one that preserves its bottom line. They pay lip service to democratic ideals and the rule of law and then support policymakers peddling the Big Lie.”

Texas companies scored much lower than the national average, but at least most of our corporations don’t even pretend to care about democracy. Most never promised to stop supporting politicians who care more about holding onto power than our rights because they only care about profit.

Many conservatives believe this is precisely how a corporation should behave, prioritizing returns to shareholders and ignoring everything else. But that’s a false argument that ignores reality. If politics were not important, why make donations at all?

Truly competitive markets rely on true democracies. The freedom to choose which deodorant to buy is intrinsically tied to the freedom to vote for our political leaders and knowing our vote counts. When we lose our right to choose our leaders, the authoritarians left in charge will soon choose which companies may remain in business.

Republicans Louie Gohmert and Paul Gosar 'may have had serious cognitive issues,' Jan. 6 committee advisor says

Republican Denver Riggleman says Reps. Louie Gohmert and Paul Gosar are in their own little worlds. They harbor "wild, dramatic fantasies about Democrats, the media and big tech," Riggleman says.

Former January 6 committee investigator Denver Riggleman says Republican Reps. Louie Gohmert of Texas and Paul Gosar of Arizona's penchant for "unhinged conspiracy theories" convinced him that the two Trump allies are fully divorced from reality.

"I came to believe Gosar and Gohmert may have had serious cognitive issues," Riggleman writes of his former colleagues in his new book, "The Breach: The untold story of the investigation into January 6th."

Raising alarms about lawmakers' mental health gels with responses gathered in a recent poll conducted as part of Insider's "Red, White, and Gray" project, which explores the costs, benefits, and dangers of life in a democracy helmed by those of advanced age.

Eighty one percent of respondents said they support subjecting congressional candidates to physical and mental exams before they're allowed to serve — an issue that's already on voters' minds as the 2024 presidential race takes shape.

The harsh criticism flows, Riggleman says, from absorbing all the wild ideas the conservative duo would throw around while they huddled with other members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus. Gohmert and Gosar, who are both in their 60s, are part of a cohort of far-right lawmakers like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia who regularly push conspiracy theories. Their wild and often baseless accusations could also be based on extreme partisanship.

In one case, Riggleman said Gohmert railed against the purported shadow-banning of Republicans on social media by "master algorithms" — a dig at technology companies that reportedly prompted others in the room to nod in agreement.

Riggleman also wrote that while Gosar is prone to extremism — like lobbying for the dissolution of the District of Columbia if House Republicans reclaim control of the chamber this fall — he's not the only one.

"Scott Perry, Jody Hice, Randy Weber and the caucus chairman, Andy Biggs, all said things that stunned me," Riggleman wrote of the rude awakening he got from MAGA lawmakers during his single term in Congress.

Republican Reps. Perry and Biggs have both been subpoenaed by the select committee investigating the deadly siege at the US Capitol.

Gohmert, who earlier this year bemoaned not being able to lie to the FBI or congressional investigators, will be leaving Capitol Hill at the end of the year after a failed bid to replace embattled Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Government Disclosed Jan. 6 Activities of 5 Confidential FBI Sources: Defense Lawyer
By Zachary Stieber and Joseph M. Hanneman
September 26, 2022 Updated: September 28, 2022

The U.S. government has acknowledged for the first time that five FBI confidential informants were involved with the Oath Keepers on Jan. 6, 2021, but prosecutors failed to disclose that none of the sources provided evidence of guilt, a defense lawyer said on Sept. 26.

FBI officials have repeatedly declined in congressional hearings to say whether there were agents or confidential human sources (CHS) in the crowd when the U.S. Capitol was breached on Jan. 6. But in pretrial communications in the Oath Keepers’ seditious conspiracy case, prosecutors disclosed that there were five sources informing on the Oath Keepers, David Fischer, who is representing defendant Thomas Caldwell, said in the new filing.

“What the Government knew—but only recently disclosed to the Defendants—was that none of the CHSes provided evidence of guilt on the part of the Oath Keepers as an organization, or the individual Defendants in this case,” Fischer said.

In the latest salvo from the ongoing feud between Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell, the former president posted what appeared to be a death threat against the Kentucky senator on Friday, after the senator voiced support for the Electoral Count Act reforms. McConnell voiced support for the bipartisan bill to reform the Electoral Count Act in light of the January 6, 2021, riot and attempts to overturn the 2020 vote.

Trump already told the world what he thinks of that subpoena, which is the same thing he thinks of when asked to release his income tax returns. If you recall, he went to the Supreme Court, twice, to prevent a Congressional committee on tax enforcement from seeing his returns. Congress hasn't seen them yet. I am pretty sure Trump's tax returns would show he didn't pay his taxes for the last 20 years, which is why he is so protective of his privacy. Also remember Trump promised to release his tax returns while he was campaigning in 2016, but he couldn't until the IRS auditors and Trump's lawyers allowed him.

Trump won't take an oath to tell the truth because the next step would be Trump taking the 5th amendment right to refuse to testify, which would make Trump look like a crook.

Trump Outmaneuvers New York Lawsuit By Changing Name To Donald 2

PALM BEACH, FL—In a cunning attempt to outmaneuver the fraud lawsuit brought against him by the New York state attorney general, Donald Trump reportedly changed his name on Friday to Donald 2. “I’m not sure who these charges are referring to, as there is no such person named Donald Trump — I’m Mr. 2,” said 2, the former president, who confirmed that his driver’s license as well as his passport and all official personal documents now read “Donald J. 2.” “I’m Mr. 2, that’s me. I have no connection to this case. It’s an entirely different guy, though I do have it on good authority that if there were a Donald Trump, he’d be totally innocent.” At press time, 2 added that perhaps the lawsuit was referring to a certain 44-year-old businessman named Donald Trump Jr.

The January 6th Committee capped off months of painstaking work with a bang – voting unanimously to subpoena Donald Trump for documents and his testimony regarding the events of that day. MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin spoke to Laurence Tribe, professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, about that subpoena and the possibility of a criminal case against Trump.

Former President Trump has refused to comply with the Select Committee’s subpoena requiring him to appear for a deposition.

His attorneys have made no attempt to negotiate an appearance, and his lawsuit parades out many of the same arguments that courts have rejected repeatedly.

Donald Trump orchestrated a scheme to overturn a presidential election and block the transfer of power. He is obligated to provide answers to the American people.

The committee will evaluate next steps in the litigation and regarding the former President’s noncompliance.

Trump, the MAGA base, and election denialism

Eric Kramer | November 15, 2022 8:52 am

It has been widely noted that Trumpy Republicans have largely accepted vote tallies and conceded defeat. There have been few strong claims of fraud or election theft by major candidates (the main exception so far appears to be Kari Lake), and no efforts that I am aware of to mobilize protests against the election results, much less violent protest.

So that raises the question we have been grappling with for 6 years now: to what extent is Trump sui generis? Does his charisma (yes, he has charisma) and connection to the MAGA base give him the power to mobilize anti-democratic violence and election denialism, a power that most of his potential MAGA replacements lack?

Can you see MAGAs storming the Capitol for DeSantis or Cruz or Haley or Rubio?

They've conceded defeat simply because they're going to use the cheating apparatus you Democrats enacted in blue and swing states and win every election going forward with it in place. Why spend hundreds of millions of dollars on campaign ads that clearly aren't doing the job when you can just spend that money funding grassroots campaigns all over the country to canvas neighborhoods and collect votes?

You've got two months to close that door and force Republicans to be put in the hypocritical position of trying to open it back up. Anybody outside of the Democratic Party doesn't want unsolicited mail-in fraud ballots or dropboxes where anybody can drop off a ballot for anyone else and would not be on board with Republican "leadership" trying to open that back up if the Democratic "leadership" takes the necessary steps to close it immediately. But if you let it slide for another 2 years into next election there is no chance that the Republican "leadership" will close it back up after they use it better than you do, and eventually elections will be done on your cell phones like American Idol.

Ignore this warning at your own peril.

Sedition is the act of inciting a revolt or coup d'etat against a legally established government with the intent of destroying or overthrowing it. In the United States, sedition is a serious federal felony punishable by fines and up to 20 years in prison.

Former Trump White House counsel Pat Cipollone and deputy counsel Patrick Philbin were spotted where a federal grand jury is meeting in the investigation of Donald Trump and January 6th. Other top Trump aides are reported to have testified recently in the investigation of documents seized from Mar-a-Lago. Ali Velshi reports and is joined former U.S. attorney Barbara McQuade for analysis.

Donald Trump ought to face the same charges the Oath Keepers did

By Frank Figliuzzi, MSNBC Opinion Columnist

Tuesday’s convictions of five Oath Keepers — including founder Elmer Stewart Rhodes and top deputy Kelly Meggs who were found guilty of the gravely serious charge of seditious conspiracy — may seem like game-winning goals, but they’re just critical points the Justice Department put on the board right before halftime. The government’s successful prosecution sidelines some strong players, but the captains and coaches we have reason to suspect called the shots on Jan. 6, 2021 (former President Donald Trump and his minions) remain on the field.

After eight weeks of testimony, it took the jury only three days to return its verdicts.

To win the game, special counsel Jack Smith, who’s been appointed to investigate Trump’s role in the violence of Jan. 6, needs to use the same playbook that worked against the Oath Keepers. That is, he should be looking to see if seditious conspiracy and obstruction of Congress charges are warranted for Trump and those in his inner circle.

After eight weeks of testimony, it took the jury only three days to return its verdicts. The swiftness of the jury’s deliberations and the potential similarities between what those defendants did and what we know about Trump and his high-profile cohorts, should encourage the independent counsel to at least consider, if not pursue, such a case. Smith, and his boss, Attorney General Merrick Garland, may ultimately decide that there are more palatable alternatives to charging Trump and his advisers with crimes punishable with decades in prison, but I believe Smith has valid predication to explore using the same charges applied to the Oath Keepers.

The jury accepted the government’s argument that a defendant need not have entered the Capitol on Jan. 6 to be guilty of obstructing Congress or guilty of seditious conspiracy. The jury also accepted the government’s argument that the defendants’ failure to stop the confirmation of the Electoral College vote tally made them no less guilty. Rhodes, who was in Washington that day, never entered the Capitol. He denied ordering others to breach the Capitol and claimed they were “stupid” to have done so, but the jury didn’t buy his attempt to distance himself from that day’s violence.

The jury accepting those arguments ought to worry Trump, adviser Roger Stone, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, former national security adviser Michael Flynn and others in that orbit.

An FBI agent testified that just minutes after Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 election, Rhodes communicated with Stone via a “Friends of Stone” encrypted chat group established to coordinate Trump’s post-loss tactics. “What’s the plan? We need to roll ASAP,” prosecutors say Rhodes asked Stone. Rhodes attached a proposal to occupy the streets of Washington and to enter the Capitol. The night before the attack on Congress, Stone was onstage in Freedom Plaza telling thousands of Trump supporters, “I will be with you tomorrow, shoulder to shoulder.”

At events just prior to the riot, Stone used Oath Keepers as his personal security guards. The day before the 2020 election, Roger Stone had been recorded by a documentary crew stating, “F--- the voting, let’s get right to the violence.” The attempted use of force is a key element of the seditious conspiracy statute. And force isn’t even required for an obstruction of Congress charge.

Neither Meadows nor Flynn is known to have staged caches of weapons around the D.C. Beltway as the Oath Keepers did, but the Jan. 6 House committee has focused on what it has called the “marshaling of the mob.” As NBC reported, in the days after the election, “Flynn became a leading figure in the campaign to sow doubt about the results and urge Trump to take extraordinary measures to stay in power … and floated the idea of martial law.”

Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to Meadows, told the Jan. 6 committee that Meadows had warned her in advance that Jan. 6 could get “real, real bad” and that Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, as he left a Jan. 2 meeting with Meadows, asked “if I was excited for the 6th. ... Talk to the chief (Meadows) about it. He knows about it.”

It’s important that Smith find out the details of the plan that had Giuliani so excited and see if any of it overlapped with the plan carried out by Rhodes and those following him.

We know Trump spread disinformation about a “stolen” election and tried pressuring Vice President Mike Pence out of certifying election results.

On Jan. 6, Trump — the Justice Department could argue — incited a crowd that he knew to be armed to go with him to the Capitol. He told those in attendance “if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore.” We don’t know if the committee or the Justice Department has seen more evidence that could support a charge of sedition against the former president, but we know that Trump spread disinformation about a “stolen” and “rigged” election and that he tried pressuring Vice President Mike Pence, the president of the Senate, out of certifying election results. That sounds like the framework for charges of either obstructing Congress or obstructing an official act to me.

There are always investigative gaps in a case of this complexity and magnitude. Often, such gaps are filled when someone with first-hand knowledge cooperates. That’s another reason why the Oath Keepers’ convictions may prove valuable in the special counsel’s investigation into Trump and his White House. The Oath Keepers who are staring at decades in prison might decide that cooperating with prosecutors investigating Trump is in their best interest and their next best move.

Smith and Garland are pondering their next moves, too. They shouldn’t be satisfied with being up on the scoreboard or sidelining Rhodes. They need to determine if they can get the same person Rhodes was trying to help off the field, too.

The Jan. 6 rioter who led a mob that chased a Capitol police officer said he wants to go back to being a 'family man'

The January 6 rioter who chased a Capitol police officer up a staircase as senators huddled in a nearby room was sentenced to five years in prison.

At his sentencing hearing on Friday, Doug Jensen spoke briefly in his defense, stating that "I can't change my past. I can only look to the future," according to CBS News Congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane.

He added that he wanted to go back to being a "family man."

Jensen's lawyer blamed the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory in part for the rioters' actions after he got into the Capitol building and shouted for then-Vice President Mike Pence to be arrested.

Newly revealed possible criminal charge against Trump is a 'very big one': former prosecutor

"As we heard the reporting, it sounds like some of the charges are ones we have been talking about for a long time like obstruction of official proceedings, and a conspiracy to defraud the united states," she explained. "The new one we are hearing is a very big one. It is inciting insurrection."

"This is a crime that is not charged and that is because of the strong First Amendment defenses that anyone would have against it," she continued. "And you know, there is nothing illegal about giving a fiery speech, but, if the committee is to recommend charges for inciting insurrection, it will be because they believe that Donald Trump crossed the legal line with the Supreme Court said in a case called Brandenburg vs. Ohio."

Jan. 6 committee unveils criminal referrals against Trump

The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol unveiled criminal referrals on Monday targeting former President Trump, recommending that the Department of Justice investigate the ex-president for inciting an insurrection, conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to make a false statement, and obstruction of an official proceeding.

Why would they do anything other than this? All they did by pleading the 5th here was say "fuck you, I'm not participating".

It was stated from day one that this clown show was a partisan witch hunt, and the meaningless criminal "referrals" were going to be the end result.

Anybody with two brain cells working can figure out how en-mass unsolicited mail-in ballots coupled with anonymous drop boxes where it's entirely legal to put in thousands at a time could lead to cheating.

And since you haven't figured that out yet, Ted... And you haven't headed my warnings that Republicans now plan to take full advantage of the system that Democrats created for them in 2024, Ted... You're going to be doing a lot of crying about cheating yourself 2 years from now.

How Jan. 6th committee’s revelations of interference in their investigation can enable Special Counsel to indict Trump

The committee presented new evidence of criminal efforts to interfere with its investigation – on the part of some witnesses, their attorneys, and others associated with the former president. It is the kind of evidence that may have far-reaching implications including bolstering Special Counsel Jack Smith’s January 6th and Mar-a-Lago investigations.

Among the most significant new revelations is the statement in the summary:

“The Committee has substantial concerns regarding potential efforts to obstruct its investigation, including by certain counsel (some paid by groups connected to the former President) who may have advised clients to provide false or misleading testimony to the Committee”.

Trump’s Save America PAC paid the lawyers for key witnesses who initially lied to the FBI before confessing knowledge of Trump’s concealing classified materials. The committee’s revelations sweep in a set of lawyers who have exposed themselves to criminal liability. The committee identified some witnesses who appear to have followed through by lying to the committee.

More specifically, one “lawyer had advised the witness that the witness could, in certain circumstances, tell the Committee that she did not recall facts when she actually did recall them.”

It can be a federal crime for any witness to tell congressional investigators that she does not recall information, when she does in fact clearly recall. It is also a federal crime for Trump to counsel someone to commit that act.
