BREAKING NEWS: Trump says he’s been charged in Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation

Trump charged in Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation

Former president Donald Trump said Thursday night that he’s been charged by the Justice Department in connection with the discovery that hundreds of classified documents were taken to his Mar-a-Lago home after he left the White House — a seismic event in the nation’s political and legal history.

Several Trump advisers confirmed the charges. Trump, who is the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, said he has been summoned to appear in federal court in Miami on Tuesday at 3 p.m. A seven-count indictment has been filed in federal court naming the former president as a criminal defendant, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a case that has yet to be unsealed.

Trump indicted in classified documents probe

The charges include illegal retention of government secrets, obstruction of justice and conspiracy, according to people familiar with the matter. It is the second time Trump has been criminally charged since March, when he was indicted in state court in New York on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush-money payments from 2016. Trump, who has denied wrongdoing in both cases, is the only former president ever charged with a crime.

“I have been indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax,” Trump posted on social media site Truth Social. He claimed he was being treated unfairly. “I never thought it possible that such a thing could happen to a former President of the United States,” he said in a screed that ended: “I AM AN INNOCENT MAN!”

You won't because you keep going down conspiracy rabbit holes. You and yours keep trying to sell lies to a public that mostly knows better.

Trump is indicted again, because the accusations are real, based in facts. Trump is also going to be indicted in Georga for election interference and again for Jan, 6th.

Poor comrade victim. The entire justice system is hiding the truth. Even when, now wait for it, Trumps own handpicked head of the FBI and justice department dismissed the allegations claimed against the Bidens as being a nothing burger.

They didn't sweep it under the rug, they tried with all their might to find criminal activity. They investigated for years, the congress is still trying to prove the Bidens guilty of something and can't. They found and continue to find nothing.

If I were you comrade, I'd look in the mirror and ask yourself if you want to continue living in a fantasy world. It has to be terribly disappointing to always come up short because your so called facts aren't facts at all. Just wishful thinking.

Trump admits he can not declassify secret documents

CNN has a transcript of a 2021 conversation in which Donald Trump is complaining that Gen. Mark Milley said Trump wanted to attack Iran. Then Trump waved around a document:

"This totally wins my case, you know. Except it is like, highly confidential. Secret. This is secret information....As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t."

This acknowledgment that (a) the document is classified and (b) he can no longer declassify it undercuts Trump's longtime claim that he declassified all the documents found at Mar-a-Lago. Since this was likely going to be part of his defense in the documents case, it's critical evidence for the prosecution. Whatever else Trump has to say, this demonstrates that the documents he refused to turn over were classified and he knew it.

I have no pro- or anti-Trump dog in this fight.

My heartburn comes from seeing how utterly politicized, corrupt, and weaponized our so-called "justice system", media, and alphabet agencies are now.

Yanno, I expect to see Presidents and Prime Ministers in other countries entrapped or investigated and jailed for minor things when "everyone else" is doing worse. Just look at Imran Khan of Pakistan.

But to see it happen in this country so gorram blatantly is heartbreaking. If a justice system is REALLY anti-corruption they will conduct UNBIASED investigations of everyone for who there is evidence, not burrow into one person on bogus (Russia!collusion!) allegations, and cover up for someone else (Hunter Biden laptop and the Biden family) against whom there is an avalanche of evidence.

What's even more frustrating is that retards like THUGR and sociopaths like SECOND celebrate this warped, unjust 'justice system". I can only hope the worm turns and they become targets of what they espouse. But I doubt it will happen in my lifetime.

Trump Lawyers Suddenly Resign After Indictment—Latest Shakeup To Legal Team

Attorneys John Rowley and Jim Trusty did not provide a reason for their departure but called it a “logical moment” to leave Trump’s legal team

Two attorneys representing former President Donald Trump in the Department of Justice’s probe into his handling of classified documents abruptly quit on Friday, CNBC and Politico reported, less than a day after Trump was indicted on seven criminal counts, though the 2024 Republican presidential candidate has not publicly acknowledged the latest shakeup to his legal team.

In the statement, Rowley and Trusty said they will no longer represent Trump in either the classified documents case or an ongoing Justice Department investigation into his role in the January 6 insurrection.

Fuck you, stupid.
Apparently your mind can't remember back more than a few minutes.
Remember what I was posting about Trump when he was running for President? There were only THREE THINGS on his agenda that I agreed with:

Border security! I mean, what's not to like about border security??
Getting out of TTIP trade agreement!
Negotiating realistically with our rivals and adversaries and not engaging in pointless wars and regime change ops. Yanno, like Ukraine.

I thought his approach to Iran and Israel stunk. I thought (still do) he has a galloping case of adult ADHD, with a dash of narcissism thrown in. And he was a HORRIBLE administrator. But unlike Shillary and Biden*, I think he honestly has the best interests of the USA at heart. Shillary and Biden* are corrupt leaches who sold us out whenever they were in office.

Signym, you are crazier than Trump. He has NOT paid his taxes. He has sexually assaulted women. He has lied about his bone spurs during the Vietnam War. This whole thing is about Trump being insane, unable to follow any rules, and unable to stop cheating and lying. This top secret documents case is the easiest to prove that Trump is a crazy ranting & raging criminal, so that is what the DOJ is going with, rather than Trump's tax-cheating or Trump's deals with multi-billionaires to not enforce tax collection in exchange for their help in reelecting Trump:

Here’s what Trump was talking about in that taped conversation

What exactly was Donald Trump talking about in his recorded conversation about secret documents and Mark Milley, his Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff? And what document was he waving around during this conversation? Here's the background.

In the middle of 2020 Milley nearly resigned because he believed Trump was "doing great and irreparable harm to my country" and had "made a concerted effort over time to politicize the United States military." In the end, though, Milley stayed on because he thought he was one of the few guardrails left against Trump’s "increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior." In The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021, Peter Baker and Susan Glassman tell the rest of the story:

[Shortly after the election], Milley was called to the White House to present various military options for attacking Iran....Trump kept asking for alternatives, including an attack inside Iran on its ballistic-weapons sites. Milley explained that this would be an illegal preëmptive act: “If you attack the mainland of Iran, you will be starting a war.”

....Trump often seemed more bluster than bite, and the Pentagon brass still believed that he did not want an all-out war, yet he continued pushing for a missile strike on Iran even after that November meeting. If Trump said it once, Milley told his staff, he said it a thousand times. “The thing he was most worried about was Iran,” a senior Biden adviser who spoke with Milley recalled. “Milley had had the experience more than once of having to walk the President off the ledge when it came to retaliating.”

This is most likely what Trump is talking about when he says this on tape about Milley:

He said that I wanted to attack Iran. Isn’t that amazing?....They presented me this — this is off the record, but — they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him. We looked at some. This was him. This wasn’t done by me, this was him.

Robert Costa confirms that after he left office Trump became obsessed with Milley and frequently got careless:

In short, it comes down to one person: *Milley.* Trump loathed his coverage in press, in books, per multiple sources….Trump fumed in post-presidency period about Milley, in his view, being cast as a hero and himself as an insurrectionist.

....Trump’s anger about Milley led him to be cavalier about what he said about Milley and their interactions & policy decisions, and it frustrates some aides who notice how he would veer into dicey/near classified material in convos. Then Trump started to do interviews for books…

The indictment against Trump, which was unsealed earlier today, refers to all this:

The indictment says that Trump appeared to be proud of the material he retained and eager to show them off as keepsakes. “Isn’t it amazing?“ he asked a visitor to his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., after showing off Iran intelligence, boasting that military commanders “presented me this.’ Trump said he randomly plucked the papers off ‘a big pile,’ suggesting he had many more.

So this is what Trump was talking about. He summoned Milley to the White House to present options for attacking Iran, and then used that document to claim it was really Milley and the Pentagon all along who wanted to attack Iran. The document that outlined options is likely the one Trump was waving around when he launched into his rants about Milley.

Trump and Waltine Nauta — once his “bag man,” now his co-defendant — hid key documents from Trump’s own lawyer and falsely informed the FBI that they had turned over all relevant materials. This constituted a criminal conspiracy to obstruct justice, forming the basis of six more felony charges for Trump. Four of these charges carry a 20-year maximum sentence, 10 years longer than the maximum sentence for unlawfully retaining national security documents.

Nauta surreptitiously loaded several boxes onto the plane that Trump and his family would fly “north for the summer.” Trump and Nauta must have thought they had gotten away with their scheme scot-free. They hadn’t. Their box switcheroo was captured on surveillance footage obtained by prosecutors and shown to the grand jury.

The indictment against Donald Trump quotes his own 2016 campaign promises slamming Hillary Clinton's emails. "In my administration I'm going to enforce all laws concerning the protection of classified information," he said in August 2016. Now Trump himself is accused of the "willful retention" of classified government records.

If being a wackadoodle is "fine", then Trump is that kind of "fine".

From page 21 of the Trump indictment:

54. On May 23, 2022, TRUMP met with Trump Attorney 1 and Trump Attorney 2 at The Mar-a-Lago Club to discuss the response to the May 11 Subpoena. Trump Attorney 1 and Trump Attorney 2 told TRUMP that they needed to search for documents that would be responsive to the subpoena and provide a certification that there had been compliance with the subpoena. TRUMP, in sum and substance, made the following statements, among others, as memorialized by Trump Attorney 1:

a. I don’t want anybody looking, I don’t want anybody looking through my boxes, I really don’t, I don’t want you looking through my boxes.
b. Well what if we, what happens if we just don’t respond at all or don’t play ball with them?
c. Wouldn’t it be better if we just told them we don’t have anything here?
d. Well look isn’t it better if there are no documents?

What's interesting to me is not the obvious obstruction of justice, which we know is a core part of the indictment, but Trump's obsession toward "my boxes." His sense of possession is palpable: even though he knows better, he's convinced they are "my" boxes and he wants to keep them all to himself.

It continues to be a mystery why he felt this way.

My wife says she knows the answer: Trump is a wackadoodle and he just does weird, unexplainable stuff. Maybe that's all it is.

Too late:

Trump Supporters’ Violent Rhetoric in His Defense Disturbs Experts

The former president’s allies have portrayed the indictment as an act of war and called for retribution, which political violence experts say increases the risk of action.

The federal indictment of former President Donald J. Trump has unleashed a wave of calls by his supporters for violence and an uprising to defend him, disturbing observers and raising concerns of a dangerous atmosphere ahead of his court appearance in Miami on Tuesday.

In social media posts and public remarks, close allies of Mr. Trump — including a member of Congress — have portrayed the indictment as an act of war, called for retribution and highlighted the fact that much of his base carries weapons. The allies have painted Mr. Trump as a victim of a weaponized Justice Department controlled by President Biden, his potential opponent in the 2024 election.

The calls to action and threats have been amplified on right-wing media sites and have been met by supportive responses from social media users and cheers from crowds, who have become conditioned over several years by Mr. Trump and his allies to see any efforts to hold him accountable as assaults against him.

Experts on political violence warn that attacks against people or institutions become more likely when elected officials or prominent media figures are able to issue threats or calls for violence with impunity. The pro-Trump mob that attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was drawn to Washington in part by a post on Twitter from Mr. Trump weeks earlier, promising that it would be “wild.”

The former president alerted the public to the indictment on Thursday evening in posts on his social media platform, attacking the Justice Department and calling the case “THE GREATEST WITCH HUNT OF ALL TIME.”

“Eye for an eye,” wrote Representative Andy Biggs, Republican of Arizona, in a post on Twitter on Friday. His warning came shortly before the special counsel in the case, Jack Smith, spoke to the public for the first time since he took over the investigation of Mr. Trump’s retention of classified documents.

On Instagram, Mr. Trump’s eldest son’s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, posted a photo of the former president with the words, “Retribution Is Coming,” in all capital letters.

In Georgia, at the Republican state convention, Kari Lake, who refused to concede the Arizona election for governor in 2022 and who is an ardent defender of Mr. Trump, emphasized that many of Mr. Trump’s supporters owned guns.

“I have a message tonight for Merrick Garland and Jack Smith and Joe Biden — and the guys back there in the fake news media, you should listen up as well, this one is for you,” Ms. Lake said. “If you want to get to President Trump, you are going to have go through me, and you are going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me. And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the N.R.A.”

The crowd cheered.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Monday dropped yet another bombshell in the recent spate of Biden corruption headlines - that the foreign national who allegedly bribed then-VP Joe Biden kept seventeen secret recordings of both Hunter and Joe Biden as an 'insurance' policy.

According to the Washington Examiner, that foreign national is Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky.

Two of the recordings are allegedly between Joe Biden

"The 1023 produced to that House Committee redacted reference that the foreign national who allegedly bribed Joe and Hunter Biden allegedly has audio recordings of his conversations with them. Seventeen total recordings," Grassley said during a speech on the Senate floor.

"These recordings were allegedly kept as a sort of insurance policy for the foreign national in case he got into a tight spot. The 1023 also indicates that then-Vice President Joe Biden may have been involved in Burisma employing Hunter Biden," he continued. "More than that, the FBI made Congress review a redacted unclassified document in a classified facility. That goes to show you the disrespect the FBI has for Congress."

In addition, the Hunter Biden laptop coverup and the 51 FUCKING "intelligence" dickwhacks who lied en masse covering it up by calling it Russian disinfo, you can hardly claim that we have equal justice.

Trump had some documents? Well, Hillary had 33,000 emails that she erased (like with a cloth?) and the FBI was so anxious not to see them, all of Hillary's aides smart phones that might have had some copies on them were ordered destroyed... like with a hammer. Don't even get me started on the box of Hillary's Whitewater documents that mysteriously disappeared during the investigation and mysteriously reappeared the day after the investigation ended, and Vince Foster's convenient suicide and Seth Rich's convenient murder.

Why doesn't the DOJ, FBI, and CIA crawl up Hillary's and Biden's* ass?? Like, with an auger?

In Moscow, the possibility that former President Donald Trump might end up in prison or even seek asylum in Russia has long been a topic of discussion on the Kremlin-controlled state television. A federal indictment that was unsealed on Friday revealed that Trump is facing 37 felony counts, because of a trove of classified documents he retained, including America’s military plans and nuclear secrets.

Troubled by the magnitude of the criminal jeopardy their favored candidate is facing, the Kremlin’s mouthpieces on state media’s airwaves are openly brainstorming how to help Trump by undermining President Joe Biden—reflecting the efforts that are likely taking place behind the scenes. After all, Trump represents Moscow’s best hope that the U.S. will eventually stop supporting Ukraine, which would in turn allow Russia to swallow it whole.

When it was first revealed that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate was searched by the FBI and contained hundreds of classified documents, Russian state TV host Evgeny Popov mockingly noted: “Turns out that the investigation against Trump has to do with the disappearance of secret documents from the White House, related to the development of new nuclear weapons by the United States... Obviously, if there were any important documents, they’ve been studying them in Moscow for a while. What’s the point of searching?”

Now that the search has resulted in a multitude of charges, Popov and his fellow propagandists are not nearly as giddy but still hold out the hope that the Republicans and their mouthpieces—like Russia’s beloved Tucker Carlson—will manage to harm Biden and undermine U.S. aid to Ukraine.

Appearing on Vladimir Solovyov’s morning broadcast of Full Contact, "Americanologist" Dmitry Drobnitsky mockingly predicted that in light of the criminal charges that threaten the main contenders of the presidential race, the final battle might be between Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Nikki Haley. He pointed out that RFK Jr. surprised everyone with higher-than-anticipated popularity ratings but noted that he is unlikely to prevail. Nonetheless, Drobnitsky said, Kennedy’s participation in the elections will enable him to inject his pro-Russian talking points about Ukraine into the mainstream—a beneficial side effect for Moscow.

Drobnitsky, a self-described fan of former President Trump, proposed: “Let’s release a story where we’ll write that Biden was personally getting $10 million for every day of the war in Ukraine. Who can prove it isn’t so? There are so many criminal cases out there!”

Signym, they have been making these claims for 5,6,7 years now. John Durham released his report and all he had were some bullshit comments like he thinks. Nothing he can bring to court. Same as Barr with the Mueller report. He lied and bullshited his way around it.

Not that you'll remember so I'll remind you. 31 people were arrested as a result of that report. There were also 10 claims that Trump covered up, obstructed the investigation which he would have been charged for, had he not been president at the time.

So comrade, who has been indicted? Nobody, when will you learn?

I'll ask again comrade signym, who has been indicted? We've been talking about this for years comrade. Who has been indicted?

As I've said, the allegations and investigations have been going on for years, who's been charged? I'll remind you, all your allegations started with the Clintons what, 7 years ago? Allegations against the Clintons and the Bidens got shot down by Trumps handpicked DOJ.

It's a shame you aren't smart enough to see through the bullshit so you can get to the facts.

You won't because you keep going down conspiracy rabbit holes. You and yours keep trying to sell lies to a public that mostly knows better.

Trump is indicted again, because the accusations are real, based in facts. Trump is also going to be indicted in Georga for election interference and again for Jan, 6th.

Who is not implicated in the Trump indictment? Hillary Clinton.

No, it’s not about her emails.

Republicans’ reflexive reaction to the devastating indictment of Donald Trump has been to retreat to the familiar corner of whataboutism: How could Trump be criminally charged for his handling of classified information when others, most notably Hillary Clinton, escaped indictment?

The biggest problem with this argument is that it is flat-out wrong. The circumstances of Clinton’s emails and Trump’s boxes are not remotely similar, no matter how loudly Trump and his allies insist otherwise. Trump’s behavior is far more egregious.

And even if the situations were more comparable — they aren’t — that would scarcely justify turning a blind eye to Trump’s behavior. If, as the chanters insisted, Clinton should have been locked up, where is the outrage about Trump’s conduct?

No. They're not.

Clinton's server had up to the minute top secret information without security guarding it in her own home, and rather than turn it over she scrubbed the hard drives and took a hammer to her cell phones.

Hardly the behavior one partakes in if there's no there there.

Simple, no charges after an investigation dummy no crime. And Trumps' own people said so. It's your opinion that is mute here.

Bullshit and you know it.

The Democratic Party owns the alphabet agencies and don't even pretend to look into Democrat criminal behavior anymore. At least we got the courtesy of them playing make believe back in 2016.

Everybody else knows it too. Trump will be fine. He will be your next President.

This explains why Clinton was never charged and never will be.

Hillary Clinton weighed in Monday on the Republican response to Trump's indictment. Republican supporters of Trump have pointed to the Justice Department’s decision in 2016 not to bring charges against Clinton.

Because you still don’t get it, it’s obvious you never will. 98% of what I post in these threads are not opinion pieces. It comes directly from legitimate, established and well regarded news outlets. The insults you throw my way, like my being an idiot or not very bright, means you think the college educated people who work researching and gathering what goes into the reported news, are idiots and not very bright. You Jack, who flunked out of community college, what, three times if I remember correctly? Funny Jack, just too funny. Keep it coming moron.

In the meantime, check out my thread titles that predicted, before it occurred, all that is going on today and more. So much more. If you had half a brain you would have figured that out by now.

Ron Johnson douses GOP claims of tapes proving Biden bribery

U.S. Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), who has spent years promoting countless conspiracy theories on topics ranging from COVID-19 to climate change, apparently isn’t sold on House Republicans’ claim that when President Joe Biden was a vice president, he took a $5 million bribe and there are taxes to prove it.

The claims, little more than a conspiracy theory based on a single FBI document used to record unverified statements made by third-parties, have been gobbled up and spewed across far-right media and social media by some of the most extreme Republicans in the House of Representatives, and even a few GOP Senators.
