(Probably a surfacant of some kind to help it mix with water bc it's pretty oily.) I have to assume since they didn't list what the "other" was and didn't claim it was proprietary that it's considered non hazardous.

Unlike glyphosate, it doesn't migrate thru the plant, it only "burns" the leaves, so if the weed has a substantial root system where it can store sugar and nutrients, it won't work. Not all weeds are susceptible, but right now my big problem is annual grasses like foxtail which are just sprouting. I'll use my flame thrower in back, where the neighbors can't see me because somebody complained last time I used it up front.

It doesn't list Diquat dibromide or dihydrodipyrido anywhere on the ingredient list, does it?

I've made a note to check my own weed killer to make sure that's not part of the cocktail that I've been using.

Today my plan is to spend some quality time decluttering the office, which means filing all the papers I haven't filed for over a year, tossing all of old papers I don't need anymore, and recycling some bottles and containers I haven't used a won't need.
Then I plan on sitting on dear daughter's neck so she gets rid of all the recycling built up in the house from various deliveries (she's very laggardly with that). THEN I plan on doing some digging in the front yard bc I took a look where the water was flowing during the last rain event and it was going on an unintended direction.

Then it's dinner prep time!

The past number of weeks have been going like that!

But one good piece of news: I had my last cardiac followup. From now on my care will be transferred to my regular doc. So that's one appointment off my list!

*****

Good medical news.

Sounds like you're getting some good stuff done.

Quote:

EDITED TO ADD: So, how it actually goes is ... start filing.
Hubby and dog emerge from bedroom.
Walk/jog the dog. (We usually go about a half mile. Her normal pace is a brisk trot, which for me is a slow jog or FAST walk).
Make hubby his favorite Sunday b'fast: four fried eggs with the yolks still runny, and two pieces of toast with butter. (It's one of his few indulgences)
Feed the dog and clean out her water bowl.
....
Go back to filing
....

I can empathize...

I don't have to work around other people's schedules and needs, but I've got about 100 people named Jack that are living in my head and if I wake up with one of the lazy ones it's hard to get myself going and doing what I need to get done.

Today and yesterday was just In Pain Jack. My aunt didn't need to come over and didn't feel like it with the cold, wet weather and I can tell that S.A.D. has its claws in her right now. Called my buddy up this morning and he didn't need my help either since he wasn't going to work on his parent's garage today. I did not mind... I slept most of the last two days trying to get past the body aches.

It's almost all gone now, except for some annoying upper back pains. Strange to have them up there since whenever my back blows out it's always my lower back. I must have been putting my body in some really odd positions working on that ceiling last week. That kind of makes sense though... The ceiling in the basement is lower than your typical ceiling is. No need for a large step ladder, and I was just using a 2 step ladder. But I could never seem to get into a comfortable position doing work on it since the bottom step was too low and the top step was too high, and because I was doing a lot of ceiling repair and cutting in I wanted to be close to the work, so my head was kind of cockeyed while doing that work. I think rolling out the ceiling around the work stuff probably was the final nail there.

My plan is to get right back to it tomorrow though. At this point I think working and working out the kinks is a lot more productive than trying to sleep it off.

Besides... it shouldn't be too tough to get back to it. I'm doing my favorite part of the job now and all the hard and dirty stuff is done.

Out for my walk in a minute. It has stopped raining for now but there was some flooding and the Nooksack river in Washington state went over its banks.

Cloudy and wet as crap here. I don't think we've seen the sun in about 3 weeks.

Just got the final coat of paint on one of the two windows. I'm going to get the other one, then put the final coat of paint on all the mid-wall trim. That's probably as far as I'll get tonight and just let it all dry before I start working on getting color on the walls. I'm also painting 3 lengths of L-shaped corner trim I'm going to be using as I'm going.

Cutting in the color is going to be a bear. I usually put the trim up after I paint the walls. It'll be fine though. I've decided on the light color up by the windows and the dark color down below. The light is a dark enough gray where cutting in is going to matter, but any minor imperfections aren't going to be highlighted like the would be with the dark gray.

If I get at least the light color up tomorrow, I can finally put those last 3 pieces of trim up.

...

Both windows and the L-shaped trim all got the final coat now. Just got to do the mid-wall trim and clean up.

Still quadruple-tracking things: office cleanup, Dr appts and medical stuff, yardwork and housework/household.

Managed to make significant progress in office cleanup and yardwork. Housework is never done! Need to address just a few more things in the medical arena, one being getting all t's crossed and i's dotted for myself, and to discuss a few future "what if's" for daughter's current situation. Fortunately hubby, while not in great health, is stable..

Glad to hear you're getting stuff done and your husband is stable. I hope he gets better. How you feeling?

Got all my trim painted and everything cleaned up. I think the first thing I'm going to do tomorrow before painting walls is take some sandpaper and sand the walls along the trim. I did get the high-gloss paint on the walls on purpose, as cutting in the wall paint will be much easier to do when the trim is all nicely caulked and over-painted, similar to how I overpaint the ceiling onto the tops of the walls before cutting the walls into the ceiling.

But it just occured to me that ceiling paint is flat paint, and now I've got a bunch of high-gloss white paint along the tops of the mid-level trim and the sides of the windows that probably is not going to hold the wall paint very good if not scuff sanded real good.

Not a huge deal, but it will take some time now to sand this all down and clean it up before painting the walls, so I can't just get up in the morning and start doing that.

Oh, all that sanding. What a bother!

But I'm curious. It seems to me that scuff sanding paint would clog up sandpaper especially with gloss paint, so ... what do you use to sand with?

It looks like your dry has turned into our firehose.

No need to be jealous of our weather now. If the forecast is right, it'll rain almost six inches over 7 days starting late Wednesday, and the 8th day looks like rain too ... they just haven't estimated how much, yet.

Better get that channel dug tomorrow!

Saturday we're going to take advantage of a two- day rain break to go out for lunch.

It's not a whole lot of paint. I'm just using old stock of sandpaper sheets I had from the Dollar Tree and my thumb. I don't want to go in there with a block or any sanding tools because I don't want to damage any of the areas around it in those corners.

I will probably decide to cut in with a little bit of primer over the sanded gloss paint first too, just to be safe. Slowing me down a bit today for sure, but it's not like there isn't a bunch of other things that need being done during drying times.

Good News: Found a new 2" angle brush out in the garage which is about the only way possible that I can cut in the ceiling over the tops of the two windows.

Bad News: It's a cheap piece of crap, and apparently I either never invested in a high quality trim brush or I lost or threw it out over the years.

I'll make it work. Did a little testing with it while I was priming after the hi-gloss sand and I should be able to cut everything in just fine with it that I need to. I used the brush for all of the primer, but I won't be using that thing for any actual paint cutting that I'm doing except where absolutely necessary.

NOTE TO SELF: Buy a Wooster/Purdy 2" trim brush.

I thought I was ready to paint now, but I remembered that I forgot to sand down the high gloss paint off the wall going downstairs that has trim for both the stairs going up and down on it. I think I laid that on pretty thick there too, so that's going to be a job.

Been thinking about how I was going to divvy up the walls with the two colors of paint while I'm doing all of this, so not the worst thing in the world I had to do it. I really want everything to POP once all the finish work is up everywhere, so placement of the colors is pretty important here. I think I came up with my solution to it.

...........

Exciting. It's finally paint time.

I think my goal tonight is to get the light color up on the walls where it's going. That will require at least 2 if not 3 cut-ins, and two roll outs. By far, the light color is going to be the tricky part with all the trim to cut around. There is very little worry of that with where the dark color is going to go.

If I still feel like working after that, I'm going to cut in the 1st of the dark color before wrapping things up. I know I'm not going to get to rolling all of that out today.

First coat of the light paint is finally up. It looks awesome.

2nd cut in should be a lot quicker since I did a real good job on the first one. It's really more about just making sure all the paint is filled in where the roller can't reach on this one.

I'll probably have just enough in that gallon leftover from the living room to get this room done without having to dip into either of the 2 new gallons I bought of each color when it was on sale for something stupid like only $12 per gallon about a month ago.

Finally done for the day. 9:30 to the minute. That's the time I told my old man I'd be working till when he called me earlier.

Assuming everything looks good when it dries in the daylight tomorrow, all that's left is the dark color and that room is more or less done besides baseboard and figuring out what I'm going to do with those stairs.

And the whole banister and overlook thing too.

And busting out some of the wall to put that generator plug into the electrical box and patching that back up and repainting it.

And framing out the electrical box when that is done...

...

.

Progress!

Unlike you SIX, I over planned my day. I usually do. Kitchen work took a bit longer than I thought, and I got a late start so I really didn't finish everything including cooking dinner until 8:30.

OTOH the dishes are washed and the countertops cleaned, the floor was cleaned, the microwave got cleaned, chickens got cut up, the most tedious part of making cilantro pesto got done, the mats were vacuumed, frig partly reorganized, and dinner cooked. And since I didn't really start until 1500...

I'm satisfied with the day.

Fortunately I still have tomorrow to dig that channel, and since the kitchen is done if I don't do any office cleanup I should be able to do some more weeding and binning as well.

Since it's going to pour buckets on Thursday (they say) I have some payments to arrange and a telemed with Dr Infectious Disease and some other stuff to take care of.

For the big coming multi-day rain event (they say) I plan on doing some decluttering with dear daughter.

Well... it was overplanned here too. I don't really like working until 9:30PM, but when I've got my paint roller out I like finishing the job because otherwise I'm wasting a lot of paint when I clean it up. Really, I should have been done a few hours earlier, but having to scuff sand that high gloss paint, clean it up and prime it made my day longer than it should be.

The dark paint should go rather quick tomorrow though. There's only one real tricky spot for that work, and the rest should go very quickly compared to today.

I think I might work on cleaning up the cuts in the front of the steps where decorative grates were installed for a return duct for the furnace that doesn't exist down there. I'm going to clean them up when the weather is nice and spray them with the oil rubbed bronze spraypaint, but the cuts that were behind them were awful.

I dunno... Maybe I'll get around to that tomorrow if the paint goes as quickly as I believe it will.

Sounds like you're kicking ass. How are you feeling?

Getting ready to paint the dark grey color.

It's not a sunny day, but probably brighter than most have been for about 3 weeks. Between the sunlight and the 4 can lights down there, the room is illuminated well and the walls done so far look perfecto.

I've got some serious cutting to do in 3 spots on the dark color, and I'll have to be extra careful here because of how obvious it would be were I to mess up. I don't usually bother with painters tape, but I believe that I will make an exception to that today. When I eventually show pictures of the wall leading down to the basement and how tricky that trim is, you'll see why. There's also the fact that people will be very up close and personal to that wall whenever going up or down those stairs and unless the lines are perfect they will be noticeable. It's a lot of tape, and that blue tape isn't cheap these days, but that roll has lasted me forever because I barely ever need to use it and I reserve it especially for occasions such as this.

One of the other two spots are the half wall where the bottom meets a full wall. I'm just going to cut that by hand like I do corners in the rooms when I'm doing an accent color wall. The last spot is a tricky spot on the other corner of the room under the overlook where just a few inches of the walls of differing colors meet. I believe most of that would be covered by the baseboard trim that goes up there eventually, but right below it I need to cut in around the profile of the mid-level shelf trim. I did a great job of that yesterday with the light color in the opposite corner without even needing to use an artist paintbrush, but since I'll likely have to use my left hand to do it on this end I will probably use the artists brushes. I'm quite ambidextrous as long as I'm not trying to throw a ball with my left hand, but it isn't perfect and I don't want to get dark paint on that white trim. We'll see how it goes.

Not sure what I'll do after that. I'd love to get new outlets and switches up, but I'll probably wait a day or two for the paint to cure a bit before I do that. There's no way I'd do it on the freshly painted walls today, and if I'm going to be looking up my breaker map and shutting off breakers to do it, I'd rather do it all at once.

First cut in took longer than I thought it would, actually. 2nd one is always quicker.

Getting my roller ready right after my break I'm about 30 minutes away from having a good idea of what it's going to look like after I get rid of the old dirty colors.

I had quite a bit less dark grey paint in the leftover bucket, but there is less wall space being covered. I also did end up with about 1/8th of a gallon of the light color left after cleaning all the tools, so I just might eek by here without having to crack open a new gallon. Fingers crossed.

......

I really didn't want to put it back up until after I do everything in my power to make sure that I don't flood in the future, but I am REALLY tempted to go out into the garage and find the baseboard trim that went on the mid-level shelving and covered the bottom pieces of the wall so I can clean them up, repaint them and get them back on the walls. I did my best to make it look good without them without going insane and mudding the gaps, but even without baseboard installed that's going to be another huge upgrade in that room and I kind of can't justify not doing it just for fear of water at this point.

OMG it's f'ing gorgeous.

Just waiting a tiny little bit longer before cutting in the 2nd time. I'm REALLY hoping the painters tape did its job and I don't have touchups to do. The second I get that 2nd coat on there it's being taken off, so hopefully lady luck was with me today.

I didn't need to use artists brushes on the trim profile. Did it just fine with the 4" brush. Getting pretty decent at cutting in even in the tricky spots.

I won't put up pictures of where it's at today. I'm going to get those last 3 pieces of trim installed, spackled, caulked, sanded and painted first. By that time I'll have all the new decorator switches and outlets up too.

The transformation to the entire house just doing that room is really beyond words. Looking forward to sharing the pics.

FINALLY cut in the 2nd coat of the dark color. Going to roll out the final coat and clean up earlier than last night, but much later than I thought I'd be because of the drying time. Even if the corners hadn't been so problematic, the first roller coat didn't even dry fully until about an hour ago.

I don't know if I'll even be able to take pictures of the finished job tonight. Depends on how long I stay up.

It really looked cool when the daylight was coming in the windows and the ceiling lights were on the paint downstairs. It didn't even occur to me how cool it would look with different sources of light on everything and how the different shades looked in contrast with each other. Going to get some really nice pictures tomorrow during the day for sure. Especially if the sun is out.

DONE!

Looks amazing. Once I get those outlets/switches and the trim up I'll have pictures.

Can't wait to show this off to people. It's like I've got a totally different house now.

Well, I dug that channel out deeper and managed to do weeding and binning up today.

The nice thing is that there will be one day of rain (tomorrow) and I get to see how the rainfall management works, then a couple of dry days where I can make corrections if necessary before the deluge.

Dear daughter continues not to do well (long story) and I can only breathe thru my nose a little for a few hours at night after I thoroughly decongest and rinse. I start steroids tomorrow or Friday. They helped before so I think they'll help again.

It's going to be raining then, right? I hope you have a dry way to get to your mahjong.

And best of luck with your games!

It did rain some today.

Got my errands done but a lousy afternoon playing mah jong. Took well over an hour to make 1,000points and on the last hand, I managed to go out.

THE SUN IS OUT TODAY!!!!

I already snapped new pictures because it all looks completely different than it did last night when the paint had dried.

There was actually one spot on the lower wall where the dark grey was that made my heart sink momentarily since it looked like I'd have to paint it again. There was wall there that needed to be patched up and though it first looked like it was the paint shining from the sunlight, when it didn't move as I strafed down the stairs I thought that the primer was still showing through it. Nope! That was a sun spot coming all the way across the house from the kitchen window upstairs.

Normally I'd probably be trying to think of things I wanted to do out in the garage on a sunny day like today in the high 40's, but I've already invited the old man over tomorrow so I need to prep for that and I've got to pick up those two boards and some other things at the hardware store along with some other shopping.

My only REAL goal today is to get all the new decorative switches/outlets and covers put on the walls.

If I have time and feel like doing more after that I will cut out the holes in those stairs for the return ductwork. I actually started doing that yesterday while waiting for those corners to dry and got about 1/4 of it done, but it was just kicking up too much sawdust and I didn't want to introduce that to the room while I was still in the process of painting it.

Guh..... Paperwork.

Was going to make my list of stuff to pick up, but that was just sitting there staring me in the face. Had a phone call I needed to make too, but I couldn't find the number. Forgot that I had it in my car from about 2 months ago, but by that time I'd already gone through all the junk mail to clear it out and halfway through my paperwork before that dawned on me. LOL.

That's good though. It needed to be done. Just taking a break from it for a minute and I'll get back to wrapping it up so I can get cleaned up and get my shopping done and get those boards picked up. Hopefully they've got good ones waiting there for me in the pile. It's kind of hit or miss, even though I bought the mid-tier wood. The problem with the premium boards is that they're about 4 times as expensive, when the middle-tier only costs about 40% more than the crap boards.

As long as they're straight with near-zero crown, I should be able to make nearly anything work even with the knots. Just have to bring my tape with me to make sure whatever boards I pick out aren't going to give me problems because of those knots. Lots of holes are going into them, so I've got about 12" more board than I'll need and I need to make sure I can get them drilled without hitting the knots.

Back from mah jong and grocery shopping. Got a couple of things on sale which was good but no luck at mah jong. Went out 3 or 4 times and I managed to break 1,000points on my first hand but I just missed all 4 flowers of one colour and winds & dragons on the last hand. Got stuck with 1 character tile I couldn't get rid of. Oh well.

Yeah. Didn't get get done what I wanted to get done today. Errands all finished, but hardly did switches and outlets at all.

A little bummed about that since it won't get done before my dad shows up tomorrow, but it's for a good reason. Turns out my old breaker map from 12 years ago wasn't very good. I spent a few hours today re-mapping it out and marking what I verified as correct.

I actually won't even be putting the final touches on the 3 switches leading into the basement any time soon since I have 2 separate circuits in there, and they're both different than a third one on the opposite side of the wall with a light switch for the crawl space. And all 3 of them are different circuits than the one the current sump well is on.

This is actually great news. I now have access to my choice of 3 different circuits to put the 2nd sump pump on without having both pumps on the same circuit. I just need to remap everything in the house and figure out what the best one to use is.

That's an entire day of work at least, but it will be worth it.

I did decide to swap out all 3 of those switches though while the breakers were off, but of course.... the little nubs of wires that were in there were useless. Not only that, but they were stranded wire that didn't have prongs installed. So I had to spend more time making pigtails before I could put the new switches on. And on top of that, I forgot that one of them was a 3-way switch for the light in the hall down there, and I don't think I even have another 3-way decorator switch, so that went back as-is until I dig through my stuff and figure out if I need to buy another one. No biggie, since I won't be putting the cover on until I route power into the crawl for the 2nd pump. By that time it was dark outside, and even though I could now put the can lights on again my heart just isn't in the work anymore today.

We'll see how the morning goes. If I can get the place cleaned up and still have time left I could probably get around to switching out all of the outlets and putting the nice covers on them before my dad stops by.

I don't think our storm systems get all the way there. Seems to me they kind of peter out by Four Corners or Colorado.

I think most of your weather comes from warm moist air from.the south meeting cold air from Canada. So if you get bad weather, it's not from me!

Yeah. I don't talk about it too much around here, but I've always been what you could label a "gamer", ever since I was a little kid. Like really little. I was playing the Atari 5200 at home when I was old enough to hold the joystick, and playing arcade games when I was tall enough to stand on a milk crate and reach the controls.

So I've kind of been witness to the evolution of the media over decades. I missed the very early stuff... the Pong clones and the Odyssee home consoles. The 70's era simple arcade games and such. I've also tapped out of the newer generations of stuff with all the online marketplaces and micro-transactions too.

Dark Souls is probably my favorite game of all time. At least in my top 3. Solaire is one of the only few characters in the game that isn't hostile, and in an even smaller group of people who go beyond that and is actually helpful. In a game that was designed to be brutal to the player every step of the way, especially during the first time you play it and die repeatedly, players tend to really develop a connection with him. The voice acting in that game was phenomenal too. Not just Solaire, but everyone you interact with.

There's an insane amount of story behind the scenes of the game too. I didn't realize that on the first time I played through because I didn't sit and read all of the item descriptions and various other things you're presented with along the way. But there are youtube channels out there that delve deep into the lore and history of the world, and characters like Solaire get half hour videos made about their own history and how they fit into the world.

I bet it would be. Apparently it also works much better when you're sober.

Not that I was drinking during the day when I did it back in 2012 or so, but what else can I blame the inaccuracy on other than drinking if not just being impatient while doing it?

My old map is probably 80 to 90% accurate, and it hits all the major things. The sump pump, the microwave, the stove, the removed dishwasher... they were all mapped correctly. But I've already discovered that the outlets in the basement were all pretty split up per room when I had them on the map all on the same circuit in each room. I'm hoping that is the case on the 2nd floor as well, since my current map shows pretty much every light and outlet on the 2nd floor and in the attic all on the same circuit.

I need to take care how I'm going to further split anything now, so I need an accurate whole house map. The 2nd sump well isn't the only thing that I want to add down there. I also want to add 1 or even 2 heat pumps in the basement as well. The good news is that there are already plug outlets on the upper part of the walls above the foundation and they appear to be split up pretty well, leaving me some options. The bad news is that if all of those circuits are already far too busy to accommodate a heat pump that could lead to quite a lot of future demolition to get that job done.

I think the strangest thing is that there are two outlets on the upper wall on either side of the breaker box that didn't turn off with any of the other breakers that were marked for any of the basement rooms. I had a breaker listed as "UNKNOWN: Possibly for the garbage disposal". Well... that couldn't be right, I thought. I was sure the garbage disposal was the same circuit as the missing dishwasher because it was only a few years ago I removed that and saw how they were connected. On verification, I was correct there. So I turned off that breaker and sure enough those two outlets by the box went out. But there's apparently a lot more going on with it because the one to the left of the breaker box has quite a few wires jammed in there and it goes up from there. I need to figure out where that goes, because if it's not powering much else upstairs that would be an ideal circuit to convert one of those outlets into the power for a heat pump.

It makes a lot of sense to me now. Back in the day it didn't. I've seen people do really dumb stuff like route power through the basement and up into walls of the main house using flex conduit that was obviously much longer than the 6 foot code before. I just assumed that people were cutting corners before. I'm going to make that sump pump work for sure, but if it turns out that I don't have any circuits available to me for heat pumps that aren't already at full (or even overloaded) capacity, I might have to make the choice to abandon that idea completely if I don't want to do a ton of damage to the walls to add an additional circuit.

I wonder how much of my house is romex...

There wasn't any in the 1st or 2nd floors. I verified that all as conduit when I was swapping out all the outlets and switches for the much nicer looking decorator stuff.

But boy... They sure used it in the basement.

I took the time many years ago to rip all that shit out on the lower wall and put proper conduit down there. Today I was going to install a GFCI on the first of the lower outlet because one day when the bathroom gets refinished and the shower is working again, the opposite side of one of the shower walls is where the outlet is located. The chances are probably 100 times greater that I'd have a flood high enough to touch those outlets than any water getting to it from the tiled shower, but better safe than sorry.

That outlet came in from conduit that goes up the shower wall, across the bathroom above the shower and into a junction box that has one other piece of conduit and 4 lengths of romex coming out of it. Jesus Christ. It's up above a soffit that had been installed to put some canned lights in, and only now did I look up there after all these years (there is no ceiling in the bathroom... I'm assuming they had to gut it because of plumbing issues at some point).

And what's more? Though I don't know yet where 3 of the romex end up going, the 4th one was only about 9" long and didn't go to ANYTHING. It was just cut, and the fucking morons just folded the wires away from each other without even capping them off. I've capped them now, but eventually I'm going to open that box and get that out of there completely. I can only imagine how many freaking wires are stuffed in that box illegally. I'll have to buy an extension box to double the room in there to keep it cool before covering it back up when I'm done.

Who knows. I might eliminate that soffit altogether too. Now with the flat LED lights you don't need to build a 12" box for things like that. I probably want to ultimately put a dropped ceiling in there anyhow, and I should have access to everything instead of having that dumb soffit in the way of electric and plumbing. I've already decided that on the other side of that wall I'm going to take out all the remaining drywall that is in a large closet and put up a piece of removable plywood so there's always access to all of the plumbing and electric in that area.

It turns out I did have a 3-way decorator switch, so that's nice. I didn't install it today though. I think I want to figure out how I'm going to wire up the sump well first before I do it because I'm not going to put my nice 3 gang decorator plate up and risk marring it until that's done anyhow.

So all I got done so far today is installing two new decorator outlets and plates on the lower walls. When I was ready to snap the face on the 1st one, I wanted to use my plug-in tester to make sure that the outlet was grounded and the polarity was right. That led me on a 90 minute search for the damn thing in my garage, my shed, my car and my house. I didn't find it. The thing is so small and since I didn't put it back where it belongs who knows where it is. The last time I even remember using it was either in my garage or my shed/porch when I was doing electric out there, but I might have used it at my grandma's house when I was updating ancient 2-prong to grounded outlets before they put it up on the market.

So I had to go to the store and buy another one. $10 worth of regrets I'm sure when the original one shows up. When I bought the last one it was only $6. Go Joe Biden*!

Anyhow... I'm done for today. My old man will be here in about an hour and I decided I didn't want to frustrate myself any further before he gets here. Time to chill out and unwreck my calm.

Since my buddy didn't want to show the picture I took of the closet poles I bought with the two gifts that his mother-in-law had given me for Thanksgiving and Christmas until the work was done, I let his wife know what I bought because I want it to be a mystery until it's done. I can't imagine anybody would be able to guess what I'm going to do with 10 oak closet poles.

Am I going to do anything today? That is the question...

I don't know yet.

A few weeks ago I really wanted to get that overlook done, but now I've kind of gone down that electric rabbit hole that needs to be figured out too. I'm torn on what I want to do next.

I don't feel particularly beat up today like I did last weekend. I managed for the most part to end my nights earlier this week and I had a very limited amount of prep and sanding to do compared to the week before.

I think maybe I'll just work on the map today if I do anything. It is going to be a high of 46 today, which is nice for working out in the garage and trying to get that overlook finished. But we're going to have a few days in the 50's this week too. It doesn't appear to really get cold again until mid February, and even then it's pretty mild.

Or maybe I'll just watch some YouTube and play some video games.

Glad it was dry for you Brenda.

How's the rest of your winter looking?

The extended forecast around here makes it look like we're basically done. The lowest high temperatures I'm seeing through the middle of march are the high 20's now, so barring a major shift if we get any snow for the rest of the season it will probably melt pretty quickly. Lots of days in the 40's and a few in the 50's I'm seeing too.

I think it's time to work on that electrical map today. Instead of pussyfooting around my electronics, I've got to shut everything down and remove plugs from the walls for anything I'm worried about so I can really do the deep dive.

Unfortunately, I still have the furnace and sump pump to work around. I know what circuits they're both on, but I'll be making sure I'm timing any testing on those circuits in between cycles. It will be pretty warm out today, so that should be fairly easy to do with the furnace, but that pump is going off quite a bit right now so I'll be saving that circuit for last.

I'm actually going to be making some sketches of rooms this time around, and my plan is to ultimately upgrade my txt document to a word document that includes jpg images that illustrate not only which outlets/switches/fixtures are on which breaker, but which direction the wires come in and go out from each area too.

This will be easy to do in the basement since I'm in the process of switching out old stuff for the new decorator stuff, but not so easy upstairs where I've already got all the new stuff installed and can't see inside the boxes unless I start removing plates and possibly even needing to pull out switches and outlets to see inside of them.

That may not even be necessary, although I'll be doing it for the basement right now. I can probably do a good enough job mapping out the behind the scenes stuff just by knowing exactly what is controlled by each breaker and their relation to each other.

Today is just about gathering as much info as I possibly can without pulling anything apart.

Just a musical Sunday soon and hopefully I can get on to an email or at least make a start on it.

Dry this weekend and Monday and Tuesday, I think. Then we head back into a rain. Nothing really heavy and temps should be around what they are suppose to be this time of the year, things like 9C.
