6ix required several decades to learn that alcohol was wrong for him. Once he discovered that ancient truth, 6ix stopped drinking. He could have avoided the expense of purchasing beer, and the unfortunate health consequences, by learning quicker what was obvious about 6ix and alcohol.

Biden's Lies On Top Of Lies On Top Of Lies...
Monday, Feb 19, 2024 - 07:55 AM
Authored by Victor Davis Hanson,

In the last week, Joe Biden had flat-out lied in the most egregious fashion in so many ways.

In his disastrous press conference of last week, he claimed that special counsel Hur’s report exonerated him. Anyone who read the findings concluded exactly the opposite.

According to Hur, Biden would have been indicted for his willfully unlawful removal of classified documents except for two reasons:

one, the Department of Justice protocols apparently prohibit indicting a sitting president;

and two, Biden suffers such cognitive decline that the special counsel believes a jury would more likely pity him into acquittal than convict him of what he is certainly guilty.

He lied that Hur brought up his son’s death (“How in the hell dare he raise that?”). In fact, Biden as is his serial wont, raised it, and does on a regular basis, usually deliberately and further lying that his son died while on military duty in Iraq (he died six years subsequently as a civilian in Walter Reed Hospital), and always contorting the death to enhance his own greater sense of grieving.

He lied that he notified authorities when he discovered that he unlawfully had taken out classified documents to various residencies (perhaps for over some 30 plus years during his senatorial and Vice Presidential tenures). In fact, Biden only admitted that he had apparently for decades unlawfully removed classified files in 2017, to his ghostwriter in a recorded tape, and then he hid that fact and kept quiet for five years—until his administration’s special counsel began to investigate Trump for the same thing.

Note the worried ghostwriter erased the tape of Biden’s confession as soon as he learned there was an appointment of a special counsel. (Destroy evidence much?)

He lied that the files bore no classification marks. In fact, they did and do. He lied that he kept the files safe in a secure location. In fact, the special counsel report includes several photographs of the Biden garage, in which there were sloppily stored, open, and torn boxes of classified documents amid a complete mess of junk.

He lied that Trump’s once secure border is somehow responsible for Biden’s intentionally open border.

He just lied that Trump caused the 2022 Putin invasion of Ukraine on Biden’s watch that never occurred on Trump’s.

It is not enough that the Biden team must wildly lie daily that the non-compos-mentis President is dynamic, impressive in his recall and cognition, and stands out as the most astute mind in most of this meetings.

Well apart from his cognitive decline, Biden himself is a pathological prevaricator.

I listened to some of that presser, and my head blew off a little with that whole string of lies. I'm glad somebody listed them.

Trump isn’t a business genius, a modern Midas who turns everything he touches to gold. Instead, the former TV entertainer and real estate mogul is simply a crook, a white-collar thief who uses flattery, threats, lies, and an ink pen to rip off everyone he can, particularly banks and insurance companies. Engoron’s opinion provides a road map to understanding Trump’s outrageous behavior and thus what we should expect from a second Trump administration.

Trump, to use his words, does “whatever the hell” he wants. Trump is just being true to himself, whether cheating his niece Mary out of most of her inheritance; sexually assaulting women like E. Jean Carroll; making up lies about Carroll in hopes of discrediting her; or tricking banks, insurance companies, and our government into valuing his properties in ways that stuff greenbacks into his pockets.

All but one Trump witness lacked credibility, and many outright lied, Engoron showed. He meticulously dissected dozens of lies told at trial not just by Trump, his three oldest children, and two Trump Organization executives but by a host of supposedly expert witnesses paid as much as a whopping $960,000 to testify on Trump’s behalf.

It’s as if Trump has a magic wand that prompts those around him to lie on command, sometimes out of a desire to remain close to him, and even in a few instances willingly going to jail for him. That’s an ability that, perversely, has made me admire Trump’s skills since we first spoke in 1988, and that is why I call him the greatest con artist in world history.

The judge’s opinion is a sequel to Trump’s 1987 autobiography, The Art of The Deal, in which he brags about cheating at golf, deceiving business partners, and thumbing his nose at the law. That book is a guide not just to Trump’s megalomaniacal ego but to how he serially ripped off unsuspecting people and then moved on to the next victim. This strategy worked until Trump became president, which bathed him in the unwanted glare of the sunlight that Justice Louis Brandeis called “the best disinfectant.”

On the bright side, he’s been drug addiction free for three years.

Joe Biden Has Three Times More Cash Than Donald Trump for 2024

President Joe Biden's campaign managed to raise more than $42 million in January, bringing their available cash in hand to roughly $130 million heading into the 2024 election.

Biden's team said the campaign received a major boost in donations after the Republican primary season kicked off, including raising $1 million for three consecutive days following the Iowa caucus, which former President Donald Trump easily won.

The figures suggest that Biden is on course to vastly outraise his expected Republican challenger. In the final quarter of 2023, Trump's campaign team reported raising $19 million, with $33 million cash in hand. During the same period, the Republican National Committee reported in Federal Election Commission filings that it had $8 million in available cash.

Biden's cash in hand heading into November's race is more than three times that of the previously reported combined totals for Trump and the RNC's available cash. Neither the RNC nor Trump has released their fundraising totals for January.

Have you looked at the polls? He's going to need every dime of it.

That article about a "September surprise" really stuck with me. I can see the DNC going thru with the whole charade of a caucus, only to yank Joe and put someone else in before the election. I don't believe that the DNC thinks that Joe can win an honest election, and I don't think they can cheat enough to push him over the line this time.

Meanwhile, with all the shit that's being thrown at Trump, he doesn't need to spend a dime on publicity.

I am a little disappointed in my female cohort. They have really, REALLY bought into this whole ultra lib crap. There has to be some way to reach them.

$150 Million And Counting: How Much Trump’s Attorneys Have Paid For Trying To Overturn The 2020 Election

By Alison Durkee | Feb 20, 2024, 12:44pm EST

https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2024/02/20/150-million-and-c
ounting-how-much-trumps-attorneys-have-paid-for-trying-to-overturn-the-2020-election-as-sidney-powell-sanctions-take-effect/?sh=4c37267668ac

The payments that lawyers have shelled out is only a fraction of the total costs Trump allies are facing for going along with his plan to overturn the 2020 election and election fraud lies. Fox News had to pay a $787 million settlement with Dominion for pushing false conspiracy theories on the network that linked the company’s voting machines to fraud, in addition to the pending suit from Smartmatic the network still faces. The Associated Press reported in May that rioters who stormed the Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021, have had to pay nearly $900,000 so far in fines and restitution. The amounts of Giuliani’s defamation verdict, the rioter fines and Fox News’ settlement alone adds up to nearly $1 billion, the Washington Post noted in December, which is enough to give every single U.S. resident $2.79 if divided up. If the bills adding up to that amount were stacked on top of each other, the Post notes, it would extend 1.6 miles into space.

Key Background

Attorneys like Giuliani, Eastman, Powell and Chesebro played a central role in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The Trump campaign and its allies mounted a wide-ranging legal effort challenging the election results in court, which Giuliani spearheaded. Nearly every single case they brought failed, however, and Trump and his allies pursued other activities to challenge the election results that have now become the subject of criminal charges. Giuliani helped Trump pressure state officials and legislators to reject their states’ election results, for instance, while Chesebro and Eastman were involved with efforts to block Congress from certifying the vote count on Jan. 6, 2021. Chesebro served as the architect of the “fake electors” scheme, in which GOP officials submitted false slates of electors to Congress claiming Trump won their state. The attorneys who haven’t taken plea deals in Georgia have all pleaded not guilty to the charges against them, and Giuliani and Eastman have continued to remain defiant and insist on the false election fraud allegations. “We did nothing wrong,” Eastman told CBS News in November, criticizing the “criminalization of political opposition and the threat to shutting down speech of opposing political views,” while Giuliani claimed after the defamation verdict against him that “what I said [about the election workers] was absolutely true.”

Putin working to elect Trump

Alexander Smirnov, 43, is accused of making a false statement to the FBI and creating a false and fictitious record in relation to claims that the president and his son, Hunter Biden, were paid $5 million each in bribes from Ukrainian energy company, Burisma.

In court filings on Tuesday, the Department of Justice said that Smirnov admitted during interviews that he had met with "officials associated with Russian intelligence" who were "involved in passing a story" about Hunter Biden.

As signs point to the 2024 presidential election being a repeat of the 2020 race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, Biden holds a lead over Trump 50 - 44 percent among registered voters in a hypothetical general election matchup, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University national poll of registered voters released today.

Today? What are you, retarded son? Check your own link. That's from January. We're nearing the end of February.

A. That Quinnipiac poll was an outlier and was the only poll showing Joe Biden* was up on Trump at the time of its release.

B. That Quinnipiac poll is outdated and was from late January. The current Quinnipiac poll gives Biden* only a 49-45 lead on Trump. It is still the outlier, and only one of two polls out of 11 polls that show Joe Biden* up on Trump.

Gaza, have you ever noticed that ISIS can kill as many Muslims as they want, anywhere in the world, without other Muslims taking to the streets to protest?

Have you ever noticed how Turkey can kill as many Muslims as they want with American weapons, yet no Arabs take to the streets in protest?

Have you ever noticed how Muslims can kill other Muslims by the hundreds of thousands in Syria, and yet no Muslims take to the streets to protest?

Have you ever noticed how Muslims in Saudia Araba can kill other Muslims in Yemen by the tens of thousands, all with weapons sent from America, yet no Arabs took to the streets to protest?

Have you ever noticed how the surrounding Arab states want nothing to do with the Palestinians? That it's only when Jews kill an Arab, after Arabs butcher over a thousand Jews, that they get upset.

Does that seem fucked up to you? It seems to me it is all about religion when it comes to Muslims.

Nikky Haley gets the Koch Brothers money.

All the bad guys are donating to everybody but Trump.

Trump only needs 25% of the money that Biden* gets because the Media will do all of his campaign advertising for him for free like they did in 2016. Every time they put pen to paper they push more people to Trump and further embolden the ones who were always going to vote for him from the start.

Rapist Who Wanted Vice President Dead Compares Self to Navalny

Donald Trump used a Fox News town hall to claim he’s basically the same as Putin critic Alexei Navalny, who was found dead in a Russian prison.

By Ellie Quinlan Houghtaling | February 21, 2024/9:10 a.m. ET

https://newrepublic.com/post/179167/trump-compares-navalny

Donald Trump thinks he has a lot in common with Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, likening his own legal comeuppance for fraud and rape to the plight of the Russian opposition leader, who died in one of Russia’s harshest penal colonies on Friday.

“It is a form of Navalny. It is a form of communism or fascism,” Trump said at a Fox News town hall on Tuesday evening, referring to his recent court judgments, which are expected to top nearly $540 million.

That stems from losing just two cases: a defamation case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll, whom a jury determined had been sexually abused by the former game show host, and Trump’s New York fraud trial, in which Judge Arthur Engoron ruled that Trump’s lack of contrition and remorse “borders on pathological.”

But using Navalny to make himself a martyr can only go so far for Trump, who won the 2016 general election in part due to Russian election interference that his campaign welcomed, per the 2020 report by the GOP-led Senate Intelligence Committee, and who consistently kowtowed to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his presidency.

Instead of condemning Putin for Navalny’s death—like President Joe Biden, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, and Navalny’s wife, Yulia Navalnaya—Trump instead opted to simply refer to it as a “horrible thing.”

“People thought that could happen, and it did happen,” Trump said, vaguely referring to Navalny’s death before quickly turning the spotlight back on himself.

“It’s happening here,” he continued, claiming that his indictments are “all because of the fact that I’m in politics.”

Earlier on Fox, Haley took a stronger stance against the Kremlin, describing Navalany as a “a hero who challenged Putin” and “lost his life because of it.”

“This is on the heels of Trump saying that he would encourage Putin to invade any NATO countries that didn’t pull their weight,” she said, keeping the heat on Trump rather than the Russian dictator.

“He’s gonna compare himself to Navalny, and the victim that he is in his court cases?” she added.

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) leads Republican Kari Lake and Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) in a hypothetical three-way race for Sinema’s seat, according to a new poll.

The Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey found Gallego leading by 6 points, with 36 percent support to 30 percent for Lake and 21 percent for Sinema, while 13 percent were undecided. In a head-to-head match-up between Gallego and Lake, Gallego’s lead expands to 7 points, 46 percent to 39 percent, with 15 percent undecided.

In a hypothetical 2024 general election presidential matchup, President Joe Biden holds a small lead over former President Donald Trump with 49 percent of registered voters supporting Biden and 45 percent supporting Trump, according to a Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pea-ack) University national poll of registered voters released today.

This compares to Quinnipiac University's January 31 poll when Biden had 50 percent support and Trump had 44 percent support.

Trump spoke about nuking New York City:

During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday, Trump said he was worried about the safety of his supporters.

"I worry about their safety too," he said during the town hall event, which reached more than 3.2 million viewers on average, according to Fox News. "These people, everybody in this room is in great danger right now. We have a nuclear weapon that if you hit New York, South Carolina is going to be gone too."

Does Trump know nukes? Nope!

The largest and most powerful nuclear bomb ever built and tested was the Tsar Bomba, according to The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. The museum writes that the bomb, detonated in a Soviet Union test in October 1961, vaporized everything within three dozen miles of its impact, while damage extended to a 150-mile radius. That means that even the Tsar Bomba, if dropped in New York, would likely not reach South Carolina.

Nukemap, a website which allows to simulate nuclear detonations, shows that dropping a 100-megaton Tsar Bomba of New York would be devastating, killing over 8 million people and injuring over 6 million. The bomb's fireball radius—the one with the worst damage—would reach 4.17 miles; the moderate blast damage radius would reach 20.3 miles; the thermal radiation radius would reach 45.8 miles; and the light blast damage radius would reach 57 miles from the detonation site.

Trump's life is troubled because of how he behaves, but inheriting a billion dollars to pay lawyers and bodyguards smooths over the worst for him. In contrast, Trumptards don't usually have even a few thousand in available cash, so every wrong move is felt in their bones, causing estrangement and bitterness toward anyone who doesn't have their problems. Trump does have their problems, making him relatable to them, even to the "jokes" he tells and the enemies he accumulates. Trump will save his people from their bad behavior just as Trump's lawyers save him from his behavior. "Believe me", says Trump. They do.

But then they throw themselves back into the water without learning to swim. They get angry about how they are being mistreated. I get angry at how out of control they are to be mindlessly and continually inviting, practically begging, for further mistreatment.

The Americans Who Need Chaos (Who are these people who would vote for Trump?)

They’re embracing nihilism and upending politics.

By Derek Thompson | February 23, 2024, 6 AM ET

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2024/02/need-for-chaos-polit
icsl-science-concept/677536
/

Several years ago, the political scientist Michael Bang Petersen, who is based in Denmark, wanted to understand why people share conspiracy theories on the Internet. He and other researchers designed a study that involved showing American participants blatantly false stories about Democratic and Republican politicians, such as Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump. The subjects were asked: Would you share these stories online?

The results seemed to defy the logic of modern politics or polarization. “There were many people who seemed willing to share any conspiracy theory, regardless of the party it hurt,” Petersen told me. These participants didn’t seem like stable partisans of the left or right. They weren’t even negative partisans, who hated one side without feeling allegiance to the other. Above all, they seemed drawn to stories that undermined trust in every system of power.

Petersen felt as though he’d tapped a new vein of nihilism in modern politics—a desire to rip down the Elites, whatever that might mean. He wanted to know more about what these people were thinking.
In further research, he and his co-researchers asked participants how much they agreed with several statements, including the following:

“We cannot fix the problems in our social institutions, we need to tear them down and start over.”

“I need chaos around me—it is too boring if nothing is going on.”

“When I think about our political and social institutions, I cannot help thinking ‘just let them all burn.’”

The researchers came up with a term to describe the motivation behind these all-purpose conspiracy mongers. They called it the “need for chaos,” which they defined as “a mindset to gain status” by destroying the established order. In their study, nearly a third of respondents demonstrated a need for chaos, Petersen said. And for about 5 percent of voters, old-fashioned party allegiances to the Democratic Party or the Republican Party melted away and were replaced by a desire to see the entire political elite destroyed—even without a plan to build something better in the ashes.

“These [need-for-chaos] individuals (representing as much as a third of the electorate) are not idealists seeking to tear down the established order so that they can build a better society for everyone,” the authors wrote in their conclusion. “Rather, they indiscriminately share hostile political rumors as a way to unleash chaos and mobilize individuals against the established order that fails to accord them the respect that they feel they personally deserve.” To sum up their worldview, Petersen quoted a famous line from the film The Dark Knight: “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

Several months after I first read Petersen’s paper, I still can’t get the phrase need for chaos out of my head. Everywhere I look, I seem to find new evidence that American politics is being consumed by the flesh-eating bacteria of a new nihilism—a desire to see existing institutions destroyed, with no particular plan or interest to replace and improve them.

In a much-shared Politico feature from January, the reporter Michael Kruse profiled a 58-year-old New Hampshire voter named Ted Johnson, who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, then for Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. Johnson explained his pivot only with vague, destructive allegories. “Our system needs to be broken,” Johnson said. And only Trump, whom he acknowledged as “a chaos creator,” could deliver the crushing blow. Johnson reportedly works out of his three-bedroom house, which he bought in 2020 for $485,000 and which has appreciated almost 50 percent during Joe Biden’s presidency. He has a job, a family, and, clearly, a formidable financial portfolio. Still, he said he hopes that Trump “breaks the system” to create “a miserable four years for everybody.” We cannot fix the problems in our social institutions; we need to tear them down and start over.

Or take Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the more energetic MAGA mascots. Last August, she attended the first GOP presidential-nomination debate, which Trump declined to join. Ratings were abysmal, and Greene noted a certain lack of joie de vivre at the proceedings. “The number one comment I’m hearing in Milwaukee is ‘it’s boring without Trump here,’” she posted on X. I need chaos around me—it is too boring if nothing is going on.

White men in the conspiracy-theory study were the most sensitive to perceived challenges to status, Petersen told me. But the researchers wrote that the need for chaos was “highest among racial groups facing historical injustice—in particular, Black males.” Anti-elite conspiracy theories and tear-it-all-down rhetoric can appeal to groups who feel, sometimes quite rightly, aggrieved by long-standing injustice. As we spoke, I recalled some of the radical rhetoric from the summer of 2020: “If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it,” Hawk Newsome, the chairman of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, said during an interview with Fox News. “I could be speaking figuratively; I could be speaking literally. It’s a matter of interpretation.” When I think about our political and social institutions, I cannot help thinking, “Just let them all burn.”

Although a few BLM protests led to literal fires, and January 6 led to violent mayhem at the Capitol, the majority of chaos rhetoric isn’t necessarily actionable. It’s typically just talk: For some, it’s catharsis; for others, entertainment. What Petersen and the other researchers identified wasn’t a broad interest in political violence but rather a fondness for bull-in-a-china-shop bluster that promises total war against elites. Chaos is a taste, and it seems to be having a moment.

The concept of “need for chaos” can help explain the mess that is American politics in 2024, and more specifically why the most common criticisms of Trump have failed to dent his support.

Ever since Trump’s 2015 candidacy kicked off, his rivals have accused him of being an agent of chaos, as if that were a turnoff for voters. Before the 2016 election, Jeb Bush called him a “chaos candidate.” In the GOP presidential primary, Nikki Haley said that Trump brings only “one bout of chaos after another.” The Biden team has repeatedly hammered home the connection between Trump and chaos. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the chair of the Democratic Governors Association, described the 2024 election as a “binary choice”—democracy and freedom versus “extremism and chaos.”

But Trump’s chaos vibes might fulfill a significant and otherwise unmet demand in the electorate. In the conclusion to their paper, Petersen and his co-authors write that the need for chaos emerges from the interplay between “dominance-oriented” traits (i.e., a preference for traditional social hierarchies), feelings of marginalization, and intense anger toward elites. Together, these traits would seem to apply to several voting groups: white conservative men nostalgic for a diminished patriarchy; independents who are furious about elite institutional failures during and after the pandemic; and culturally conservative, nonwhite Americans, especially men, who might feel marginalized by racism and economic inequality but also rue the latest waves of #MeToo feminism. Indeed, all of these groups are shifting toward the Republican Party under Trump.

The need for chaos might also offer us a new “deep story” for the sort of disaffected and conspiratorial voters who could sway the November election. In her 2016 book, Strangers in Their Own Land, the UC Berkeley sociologist Arlie Russell Hochschild explained the far-right worldview using a psychological allegory, which she called her deep story. It went something like this:

You are an older white man without a college degree standing in the middle of a line with hundreds of millions of Americans. The queue leads up a hill, toward a haven just over the ridge, which is the American dream. Behind you in line, you can see a train of woeful souls—many poor, mostly nonwhite, born in America and abroad, young and old. You’ve waited a long time. But the line isn’t moving. You’re stuck, and you’re stigmatized. Liberals in the media say that every traditional thing you believe is racist and sexist. And now, people are cutting in line in front of you. The old order is falling apart. And somebody needs to do something about it.

Deep stories are important, because they allow groups who might violently disagree about politics to understand the psychological origins of their disagreement. As I spoke with Petersen about the need for chaos, another allegorical scene came to mind—a kind of deep story of the chaos voter.

You are a middle-aged man playing a game; it could be checkers or chess. You are used to winning. But you’ve lost several times in a row, and all to the same people. Now you’re losing again, and it doesn’t feel right. You haven’t made one wrong move. Something must be wrong. Something must be rigged. They must be cheating. In a rage, you turn the whole table upside down, and the pieces scatter and shatter. Why do this? Breaking the game makes things worse for everyone. But this isn’t about making things better. It’s about feeling a sense of agency and control. It’s about not feeling like a loser. One could call it chaos. But at least it’s the chaos you chose.

“You can think of need for chaos, in a way, like flipping the board over at a societal level,” Petersen said when I shared this deep story with him on the phone. “This is a status-seeking strategy of last resort. A person feels stuck and wants to have recognition, but he feels that he cannot be recognized or valued in the current system of cultural norms, rules, and power. And so, to solve that problem, he says: ‘Let’s tear it all down.’”

If the need for chaos helps explain the mess we’re in, it might also offer the Trumpist opposition a clearer plan for wooing some (but certainly not all) voters back to normalcy. The need for chaos is rooted in people’s feelings about status, power, and control. For example, independents with culturally conservative instincts might feel that progressive ideas—what some call “woke” politics—weaken their social status, or that COVID policies trampled on their ability to control their daily life. Democrats could emphasize the ways in which their policies and priorities build status, power, and control. Under Biden, pay has increased so much for low-income Americans that it’s wiped out almost half of the past 40 years’ rise in income inequality; that’s a revitalization of economic status. Energy production is at an all-time high, and the U.S. has never been so energy independent; that’s both national and physical power. A right-leaning Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade; now Democrats across the country are fighting to protect abortion rights to restore women’s control over their own bodies. The antidote to a new American nihilism is a full-throated defense of American agency.

The need for chaos is not a problem likely to be solved quickly. It might be more like a chronic condition in U.S. politics to be studied and understood. I ultimately see anti-elite sentiment as downstream of several very real elite failures, including the many public-health errors during the coronavirus pandemic. But although burn-it-down sentiment may come from reality, it also feeds off virtual reality, or the stories that people are told about the world. Consumers face a bonanza of news-mediated despondency about quality of life, in part because news outlets are responding to audience negativity bias by telling the worst, most dangerous, and most catastrophic stories about the world. If journalists want to understand the need for chaos, it might be useful for us to scrutinize the ways in which we are partly responsible for growing the public’s taste for narratives that catastrophize without promise of improvement.

Trump frames election as battle against ‘wicked’ system bent on attacking Christians

Former President Donald J. Trump often characterizes his presidential campaign as a battle for America’s future. But speaking at a Christian broadcast media convention in Nashville on Thursday, he wrapped that depiction within a stark good-versus-evil framework, portraying his political opponents as part of a “wicked” system.

Mr. Trump also revived his claim that America’s “greatest threat is not from the outside of our country” but “from within,” language that drew alarm last year from experts who saw in it echoes of autocratic leaders.

During Thursday’s speech at the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Nashville, Mr. Trump portrayed the threat as liberals — more specifically, a “radical left, corrupt political class” — whom he broadly cast as intrinsically bent on attacking Christianity.

“Christians, they can’t afford to sit on the sidelines in this fight,” Mr. Trump said. He later added, without offering evidence, that liberals were persecuting Christians because “they know that our allegiance is not to them. Our allegiance is to our country, and our allegiance is to our creator.” (There are many Christians who are Democrats.)

Before running for office, Mr. Trump made little show of being particularly religious, which he acknowledged early in his speech, and he does not often give faith-focused speeches on the trail. But evangelical voters in 2016 were drawn to his populist message and his pledges to appoint “pro-life” judges, and they have remained loyal to him.

During his third run for office, Mr. Trump has often cast himself as a staunch defender of the Christian right. He also often boasts of his appointment of three justices to the Supreme Court who, in 2022, voted to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Alabama justice who ruled embryos are people says American law should be rooted in the Bible.

How US conservatives fell for two of Latin America’s most controversial leaders

Javier Milei, Nayib Bukele, and Donald Trump are all working out of the same populist playbook.

By Ellen Ioanes | Feb 24, 2024, 6:00am EST

Meet two of the hot speakers at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC): Presidents Nayib Bukele of El Salvador and Javier Milei of Argentina, two of Latin America’s most flamboyant right-wing populists.

CPAC started in 1974 as an annual gathering of conservatives; over the years it has turned into a days-long, livestreamed far-right spectacle. Policy is discussed and refined while movement luminaries like former President Donald Trump and House GOP Chair Elise Stefanik are given the opportunity to share their ideas with a receptive audience.

It might be a little sleepier than usual this year, but the conference still reveals where American conservatism is headed. And the two Latin American leaders’ presence underscores the right’s continued affinity for populist and even illiberal leadership — particularly when combined with modern personal brands built online.

They aren’t the first extremist leaders to speak at CPAC: Viktor Orbán of Hungary and Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil have featured in past years. Like Orbán and Bolsonaro, Bukele and Milei are staunch populists who have proposed radical solutions to serious problems in their countries.

The American right finds those radical proposals attractive, even if the policies likely couldn’t — or shouldn’t — be instituted in the US. Bukele has, seemingly, mitigated El Salvador’s serious gang violence problem through mass arrests and incarceration, while Milei’s economic policies are supposed to right Argentina’s inflation-plagued economy.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, has praised both men; though he has yet to meet Milei, the former president enjoyed a friendly relationship with Bukele. Other conservative figures, including Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) of the Freedom Caucus, have praised Milei’s push for “limited” government.

The two leaders are important voices at CPAC as conservatives work to draw in Latin American voters before the election in November; Bukele in particular is popular among Salvadorans living in the US. But their presence at the conference is about more than trying to win votes, Erica Frantz, a professor of political science at Michigan State University, told Vox — it’s about creating a particular type of international far-right ideology.

“Linking Milei and Bukele with the Trump movement is advantageous for all parties involved,” she said. “For Milei and Bukele, it gives them the opportunity to strengthen an alliance with the potential presidential candidate most likely to be sympathetic to their authoritarian ambitions.” For Trump and his supporters, “it is a chance to send a message to supporters that its style of politics is gaining steam outside US borders.”

I got the video from Digg. They got the video from Redditt, which got it from youtube.

From the Atlantic, describing angry poor white trash like 6ixStringJoker (remember him, 6ix? Joker was a drunken asshole. He morphed into a Trumptard.):
“These [need-for-chaos] individuals (representing as much as a third of the electorate) are not idealists seeking to tear down the established order so that they can build a better society for everyone,” the authors wrote in their conclusion. “Rather, they indiscriminately share hostile political rumors as a way to unleash chaos and mobilize individuals against the established order that fails to accord them the respect that they feel they personally deserve.” To sum up their worldview, Petersen quoted a famous line from the film The Dark Knight: “Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

Funny thing that 6ixStringJack is indiscriminately sharing hostile political rumors as a way to unleash chaos: http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=65905

Incorrect. 6ixStringJoker was a temporary account that I had made and only used for about a month because I was having problems with my Jack account that I have had here since June of 2006.

I made zero effort to deceive anyone at the time of making that temporary account. As if the name itself wasn't an immediate tip-off that it was me, I made sure to let everyone know it was me.

Get your facts straight. If you can't be bothered to tell the truth about things, I'm not going to bother reading any of your dumb bullshit.

Rumor, huh? Tell me one single gripe you have with anything contained in that thread so I can destroy your opinion again.

I'm waiting.

6ix, you are completely crazy and don't know it, but so are Trumptards in general. They wonder why life is hard for them. This is why:

Oh, No Big Deal, Just a Survey Showing Haley Beating Biden, 58 Percent to 42 Percent

Republicans aren’t interested in a candidate who’s a generation younger than Biden and who doesn’t scare off suburban soccer moms. The GOP always has to do things the hard way.

That's not an answer.

If you have a legitimate gripe with that thread, state it clearly or shut the fuck up.

And the fact that you would welcome NeoCon Nikki Haley is just abhorrent. Might as well vote to put George W. Bush back in office.

I absolutely hate what the Democratic Party has become.

It was impossible for an Abolitionist to win an argument with a Confederate about slavery. Confederates would thump the Bible, and point to a scripture about slavery, to justify what they were doing. Trumptards are even worse at arguing, without the economic justification Confederates had for keeping slaves. Trumptards are crazy with no monetary reason to do and believe as Trumptards do, other than being crazy, stupid losers who never learned how to function in the Capitalist system. At least the slave owners understood and thrived in the society they were born into. Please don't claim you aren't crazy, 6ix. Everything you do says you are a crackpot. That is true of Trump, the Uber-Trumptard. His business model is completely crazy. Just read his The Art of the Deal or anything his ghostwriters wrote. The Trump craziness is the foundation underneath all of Trump's businesses. No surprise his lawyers have been in court for the last 40 years. Also, no surprise that Trump has to keep searching for new lawyers. With experience, his lawyers won't accept more cases from him because Trump is crazy.

Slavery was undeniably a font of phenomenal wealth. By the eve of the Civil War, the Mississippi Valley was home to more millionaires per capita than anywhere else in the United States. Cotton grown and picked by enslaved workers was the nation's most valuable export. To understand the brutality of American capitalism, you have to start on the plantation.

6ix, life is hard for Trumptards. Don't deny your life is difficult, 6ix. It is no surprise that the guy with the most personal problems seems like your kind of guy.

Trump gives chilling CPAC speech on presidential agenda

As usual, Trump entered to Lee Greenwood’s God Bless the USA, hugged an American flag and painted an impossibly grim picture of an America overrun by bloodshed, chaos and violent crime. “If Crooked Joe Biden and his thugs win in 2024, the worst is yet to come,” he said. “A country that will go and sink to levels that are unimaginable.”

“These are the stakes of this election. Our country is being destroyed, and the only thing standing between you and it’s obliteration is me.”

“A vote for Trump is your ticket back to freedom, it’s your passport out of tyranny and it’s your only escape from Joe Biden and his gang’s fast track to hell,” he continued.

“And in many ways, we’re living in hell right now because the fact is, Joe Biden is a threat to democracy – really is a threat to democracy.”

All the Trumptards are just like Trump. Plagued with hellish problems that can only be solved by Trump being President.
