Out for my walk in a bit. Need to get some stuff done as I don't know if I have a phone meeting tomorrow. Will have to check my email later about that. Got another couple of publishers picked out and will be discussing with the poet helping me which one is best.

Also need umbrella today. Rain. Which is good as there are fires burning up in the Interior right now. 114 total around the province and with the ground warm now any moisture we do get can penetrate it in a good way.

Glad to know life's OK for you. I get a bit worried when you're not progressing on your projects.

On a Prednisone high for the past 2 weeks. Once I start weaning down I'll be depressed, tired, anxious and glued to the couch unless I start taking tranquilizers.

Made the mistake of reading up my dx. Maybe what I accessed was an old version of the Merck Manual, but the 5-year survival rate they quoted (80%) is even worse than the cancer survival rate (90%).
But based on other people's symptoms, all of the minor stuff has ALREADY happened to me, and I live with it. So AFAIK there are only a few important things to pay attention to, kidney failure and infection being top of the list.

So if I mind the important stuff, I'll take my treatments, and just keep on keeping on

And since I haven't formally started the heavy duty infusions yet I'm taking the oppty to do as much yardwork as possible.

It occurs to me, BRENDA and SIX, we need to build more enjoyment into our lives.

I, personally, enjoy making progress on yardwork. Dear daughter loves to go out to have fun. Hubby enjoys working in the garage and feeling useful.

Everyone needs something.

We all should plan on something nice at least once a month with people we like to be with. Life is stressful enough.

Yeah... Been in a little funk over here. This one was made worse when I started staying up later and later into the night and sleeping half the day away or more. I wasn't able to work my way back, so yesterday I just stayed up all day and went to bed at a reasonable hour.

I'm going to mow the lawn today, even though it's only 49 degrees now. I'd love to wait until Saturday when it's 70 degrees, but I really shouldn't let it grow another 2 days before I get to it.

Hopefully I can get back on track now that I woke up before 10AM.

Funny you should mention the lawn. I just weed whacked it this AM, took a shower and I feel great.

Tomorrow I intend to go to this landscaping place that sells bulk mulch and take a look at what's available and get 5 bags of planter box mix. Saturday I'll be working in the backyard with daughter and the dog will be roaming around with us. Sunday, assuming my energy holds out, I hope to finish the curbside weeding in prep for grading and papering it over.

Phone meeting went well. Two publishers picked out that will be sent too over the next little bit. The first place I need to find something that was rewritten to email it to my helper as they also want everything in a PDF file. Her husband will do it up and then she will email it back to me and I will forward it to the publisher.

Second publisher, I have to write something out that she will double check over for me and make any suggestions or corrections that need doing. Then she will send it back to me and I will get it off to the publisher.

I'm getting tired just thinking about all of that.

I finally got up at a more respectable hour today and mowed the lawn. It really needed it. Did some shopping because I was just about out of anything that wasn't dipping into my virtually non-perishable stuff.

That was about it for me today though. Hoping to keep this ball rolling now that I got her started again and that I get to bed at a decent hour again tonight. I've got a few time-sensitive things that are way closer to being due than they should be, and it's not like I don't have a ton of work to do on this house and a lot of the stuff I need to do it already paid for and just sitting here waiting for me to work on it.

I got over to that landscapers supply place.
What a great find!

I got the planting mix I needed. Even better, I thought I'd have to go wandering among the mulch, bark, and river rock/ pebble piles and fork lifts to see what they had, but they had display trays of all their products conveniently set up in the front of their store, and I immediately identified what I already had, which is working quite nicely (3" cover mulch). It also happens to be in their least expensive category of mulch.
They deliver, which is a good thing bc I estimate I'll need about 20 yards (a truckful) of the stuff.
On my way out I saw they had a few plants, including my favorite most reliable tomato (Early Girl) and zucchini. Not gonna have time for much veggies gardening but I was really hoping to get some tomatoes in. Basil is going great. With those and zucchini I have some nice Italian dishes in our future.

With the planter mix, I think I'd best xplant some of my 4" pots into gallon pots for the summer, and my 1 gal pots into 3 gal pots, and think about planting in the fall. That will give me time to prep the whole front yard, which still needs a lot of work!
So tomorrow it's mord backyard cleanup as anticipated, and some potting up. Gonna set up a makeshift potting table and do it right.

And now, to work in the kitchen.

Anything adjustable on it after the fact?

I HATE hanging anything like that. Even picture frames, really.

I won't allow anything to be done that I don't feel is perfect, so when I hang stuff it ends up taking about 10 times longer than it probably should since I'm not prone to committing to something unless I know it's going to be perfect.

My aunt really benefited out of that back when she got the furnishings for her new apartment. I went over there and spent a day hanging about a dozen paintings and a super large clock on her wall. When she came back from work, there was only one piece that was a decorative bit of metal with a small mirror in the center that she wanted just a bit higher than I had put it. Fortunately, the piece was made in such a way where the old nail hole is completely invisible under it.

Me? I don't hang anything on my finished work. I haven't even hung blinds or drapes, instead choosing to use contact paper on the windows which can easily be removed for privacy.

But when I start working on my bathroom I'm going to have things like this to figure out. It's a pretty big house, but the two bathrooms are pretty tiny. In order to make the most of the space in there, I'm going to need to get creative.

I think I'm actually going to be doing electrical work in there too. For starters, there's no ceiling vent fan which is a problem that even my walls in the hallway outside are all too aware of. There is also only one outlet next to the light switch, and any modern bathroom should have more receptacles than that. But I also think I'm going to add electric for LED lighting in there while I'm at it. One for a photo-sensitive night light, and another with a door switch that will light up the medicine cabinet when the door is opened, like a fridge.

But I'm going to have to hang a shelf above the switches to replace the cheap IKEA crap I put up there years ago and can't do without as well as the over the toilet cabinet with hand towel pole. I think I'm also going to add something similar but open on the back side of the door so I can put things on that and also have a nice pole that is a distance away from the painted door for my bath towel.

All of this needs to be perfectly straight and centered in the perfect positions. It's going to be a massive project when I get to it.

Nope and I have no desire to pull the screws out and make adjustments.

Well, I don't care about perfect. I just wanted it up and out of my way and like I said it is okay by me.

The only thing I care about being perfect is work on my book or if I was cooking a meal for someone other than me. Or baking for someone other than me. Then I would worry.

I get that from my dad. Doing things for himself, he didn't worry about perfect. My mom got on his case about it once in a while but she had to give up as she wasn't going to change how he felt. So she learned to live with it. She had to give up on me too. *L* That was when I heard, "You are too much like your father." Mind I always took that as a compliment.

Well I finally got a chance to slow down and properly read other's posts

APOLOGIES, SIX AND ANONYMOUS1 for misreading!

*****

Believe it or not, much of my time was struggling thru new recipes. Hubby wants to eat less meat bc he says meat is too hard to digest. This morning, the tzatziki turned out good (but it's only tzatziki), my version of tabouleh turned out GREAT! according to hubby, but the falafels were kind of dry.

This evening was baked tofu (but, yanno ... tofu. It is what it is) with brown rice and red curry paste, and a salad that the only things traditionally Thai were fresh cilantro, fresh basil, and a sweet-hot peanut sauce. I have no idea how it all turned out. Complete lack of sense of smell prevents me from improving my recipes, and since hubby and daughter know next to nothing about spices and herbs I don't get knowledgeable feedback. I used to do so much better!

So frustrating!

Tomorrow hubby takes his blood sugar and we see whether or how much he can tolerate meals that depend on beans, lentils, potatoes and grains/cereals. I suspect this is going to be a very short experiment.

But setting all that aside, dear daughter helped me unload five big bags of planter box mix. Since I most likely won't be able to plant natives until fall ... missed the planting season ... I have to move the plants languishing in 4" pots into 1 -gal pots, and the 1- gal potted plants into 3-gal pots. With that many plants to repair, I refuse to do it squatting or bending over, and set up a little temporary potting table on two sawhorses with a scrap plywood piece. And since tomorrow is an easy- fix dinner I'm gonna start re-potting right away and not stop until done.

Another thing I did was dig up this crazy weed, a kind never seen before. It almost looks like an accidental cross between Cosmos sulphureus and C bipinnatus, but able to function only on a primitive level and with none of the good qualities. The flowers are small and ugly. The bees don't like them. Goldfinches don't like the seeds. But it grows like a ... er ... weed, very robust, and mak s tons and tons of noxious seeds that stick in clothing with little barblets. I only hope the seeds are sterile!

Anyway, on with the show!

Back and done for today and I didn't need my umbrella. Not that I took it with me.

That's too bad.

Any other groups or games at the community center?

Well, I did manage to get everything repotted. That's 10* deteriorating 1-gallon bags (that's how they were shipped!) into 3-gallon pots (which I only filled to about 2 gallons to make eventual planting easier) and 10 * 4" pots into 1-gallon pots. But the veggies are just temporary since they'll go into the ground as soon as I can prepare spaces.

Took me all afternoon, but it's done!
Yay! Something I can cross off my list!

Well, it turns out I was wrong. Got a call this morning from the lady who heads the group, so I am playing this afternoon.

You can't play any of the games going unless you are a member of the group.

Finally got my ass in gear and got some stuff done today.

Car's finally legal now, so I just have to wrap up what I'm doing with the old one before I let her go. Ran some errands after that and then mowed the front lawn before the sun went down.

Going to have to get the back done tomorrow for sure. I'll probably get the A/C uncovered while I'm out there. Maybe spray for some weeds too.

Oh... maybe not. Just looked at the weather and we've got some early thunderstorms in the forecast. Damn. Might have to put that off until Friday.

That's fine. Got plenty of other stuff backlogged that needs doing.

Anyone play checkers? Scrabble? Bridge? Rummy?
And how does one become a member? Invitation only?

I got lucky. I was able to mow the back yard and get the A/C ready for the summer. Unfortunately a thunderstorm came out of nowhere and I was drenched while doing the A/C, but since I was wet anyway I checked all my gutters and nothing's clogged up.

Going to shower up and watch me the rest of the Fallout TV show.

There are a couple of card games that run during the week, specifically on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. In order to play 1. You have to be a member of the senior's centre and 2. You have to know how to play the games in the first place then you also have to agree to join the group, so if you can't play one week you can let the person running the group know that you can't.

There was a cribbage group but not sure if it is still running. There are also exercise classes and a singing group. I've thought about the singing group but the stuff they sing is like circa WW II and I heard enough of that when I was growing up and once in a while they might slip in some 50s rock. They are always looking for music that can be played on the piano.

There are a bunch of games I don't know how to play, and cribbage is one of them
Poker, blackjack, and chess are a few more. It sounds like these groups are pretty well established and don't have room for beginners? That's too bad! The best time I ever had playing was as a newbie with a really fun group.

I like to play some online games (247games) and I'm expanding my repertoire to blackjack and poker. Doing pretty well at poker, really. Still learning the odds of blackjack. I might try hearts next. Since it's all no- cost I can flub around as much as I want while I learn the rules of the games. But there's no online cribbage, alas.

Maybe you could learn some games online?

Yeah. It was cool.

As dark as it was out all day, I was not expecting the blast of heat and humidity I felt when I first went outside. Temp was in the low 80's and humidity was damn near 100%. I was already soaked just from doing work before I got pelted. Can't say I minded it at all, but I had to be real careful coming back inside and not getting that mess all over the place.

Did a lot of random things today, and one of the things I did was check for stuck valves and broken sprinkler heads.

Found one completely frozen valve so far, and five broken sprinkler heads. But in one line there are so many broken sprinkler heads I need to fix a few first in order to get the water pressure high enuf find the rest.
