They're all criminals, you simple-minded fuck.

Politico: Disappointment and ‘depression': Biden’s biggest fundraisers watch their advantage vanish

Joe Biden’s allies are bracing after Donald Trump erased the president’s financial edge.

Joe Biden’s campaign planned to bury Donald Trump in an avalanche of cash.

Instead, his allies are bracing for a slugfest without the benefit of a fatter wallet, as financial reports showed Trump outraising Biden in back-to-back months, hauling in huge sums after his 34 felony convictions and erasing Biden’s longstanding financial edge.

What did I fucking tell you idiots was going to happen if you did it. I was begging you to do it.

Trump leads the polling aggregate by 2.2 points now.

Although Fauci recounts many insulting and profanity-laced conversations with Trump, he is so measured and respectful in his assessment of the former president that it’s almost comical.

“President Trump’s tendency to announce that he loved me and then scream at me on the phone,” he writes, “well, let’s just say I found this to be out of the ordinary.”

He could have unleashed well-deserved fury on the former president and his lackluster response to a disease that ended up killing more than a million Americans. Instead, he writes, so many deaths “should never have happened and likely would not have happened had the right tone been set by the highest levels of government for the promotion of proper public health principles and practices right from the start of the outbreak.”

In contrast, Trump’s vilification of Fauci has made him a predictable target of vitriol and worse. He recounts the vicious conspiracy theories that led to violent threats against him and necessitated round-the-clock security: He was a Hillary Clinton mole planted in the White House to destroy Trump. He was out to abolish the 2nd Amendment. His wife is the sister of Jeffrey Epstein’s girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell. He tortured puppies for science. He was responsible for the very creation of SARS-CoV-2.

He was also baselessly accused of “crimes against humanity” and sexual assault. Republican congressional candidates vowed to put him in prison. Pro-Russia conspiracy peddlers said Moscow’s airstrikes in Ukraine were aimed at bioweapons labs where Fauci was developing a COVID-19 sequel.

“Welcome to my dystopian nightmare,” he writes.

The absurdity continues to this day, of course. This month, Fauci testified before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, whose MAGA Republican representatives seized the opportunity to beclown themselves as usual.

“You’re not a doctor,” spat Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Fauci — who has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Science and 62 honorary doctorates and has written, cowritten or edited more than 1,400 scientific publications — didn’t respond.

He didn't have to. He’s been saving lives longer than she’s been alive.

You forgot anti-fascist. You're so anti-fascist that you employ fascists to combat your imaginary fascism.

Looks like the Trump conviction in the NY Kangaroo court was another bust, huh?

This far out and we've got a lot of fresh polling from after the fact.

Trump still maintains his polling advantage that he's had over Biden* since September of last year, and it slowly seems to be recovering from any minor dip this fake court verdict may have caused. (And, once again, Joe Biden* had a 10.2 point lead on Trump 4 years ago today).

Only 3 days to debate night...

Are the Democrats going to be smart and figure out a way for Joe* to back out before then, or are they going to put him in the lion's den?

Tick Tock

Pro-Trump extremists are sure he will win. That could be dangerous.

Analysts say Donald Trump’s most militant fans are threatening online but quiet on the ground, a posture that could change if the November election doesn’t go their way.

By Hannah Allam | June 24, 2024

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/06/24/trump-election-extr
emism-threats-violence
/

Donald Trump has a history of fiery calls urging supporters to rise up, and his most militant fans often have obliged.

So it might seem counterintuitive that now, as Trump faces unprecedented legal problems and a close election in November, the nation is experiencing a lull in political unrest — in fact, one of the quietest periods that extremism researchers have recorded in recent years.

Chief among the factors explaining the lack of political violence, analysts say, is a simple one: Trump’s supporters believe he will win the presidency.

Trump himself has contributed to that certainty by insisting the only way he can lose is if the other side cheats. There’s little reason for pro-Trump extremist groups or radicalized MAGA fans to demonstrate when they foresee the presumptive Republican nominee coasting to victory over President Biden in five months and positioned to enact promised “retribution” against his enemies in seven, political violence trackers say.

Polling shows a tight race: Trump and Biden are roughly tied among registered voters nationally, with Trump tending to hold small leads in several of the all-important battleground states that Biden won four years ago.

But in the eyes of many Trump backers, he is almost certain to prevail if the vote is fair. Their confidence carries risk: Experts warn that should Trump lose, the gap between expectation and reality could make for a highly combustible period after the election.

“They’re assuming that Trump is going to win, and what’s jazzing them up right now is, ‘Then it’s going to be time for retribution,’” said Mary McCord, a former federal prosecutor who now leads the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection, a Georgetown Law center focused on threats to U.S. security and democracy.

Should Trump lose, however, “it’s just going to be the same thing [as 2020],” she said. “‘This was rigged, they cheated, they stole this.’ That narrative is super dangerous.”

Given a national discourse rife with dehumanizing speech, and studies showing U.S. attitudes becoming more supportive of political violence, many extremism researchers fear the current lull is only a pause. Those fears are compounded, they add, by the hard right’s portrayal of Trump as not just a candidate but a savior, a messiah-like figure who represents their only hope of rescuing the republic from the “radical left.”

Supporters view the former president’s four criminal cases, including one that ended with 34 felony convictions last month, as “deep state” election interference. They printed his mug shot on T-shirts. They compared his indictments to the persecution of Christ. “Jesus went through a sham trial too, and I still follow Him,” reads one popular right-wing meme.

The religious-like fervor around Trump is dangerous, watchdog groups say, because it means a loss in November could turn him into a “martyr” that militant supporters then feel compelled to avenge.

Extremism monitors have warned for years that Trump’s incendiary rhetoric inspires real-world attacks. Assailants have invoked his name in dozens of violent episodes, and his “Stop the Steal” rallies in late 2020 and early 2021 after his election loss became magnets for members of the violent far-right groups that were instrumental in the Capitol attack.

Online chatter about “civil war” has surged when Trump has appeared threatened, from the FBI search of his Florida estate in 2022 to his convictions last month in a Manhattan court.

The Institute for Strategic Dialogue, which monitors extremism, recorded around 9,300 online posts related to civil unrest within a day of Trump’s conviction, nearly the same number after the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago. The posts included “hundreds of calls for violence and open fantasies about a violent overthrow of the government.”

“While mass mobilization is unlikely at this time, conspiracy theories encircling this development have the potential to serve as a catalyst for individual acts of violence,” the report concluded.

Serious threats to U.S. federal judges and prosecutors have more than doubled in the past three years, according to a Reuters analysis of data from the U.S. Marshals Service. The data show an increase that began around the time of the 2020 presidential election, when officials were under attack by Trump supporters who rejected his loss.

Prominent election deniers such as Joe Oltmann, a Colorado-based podcaster with a national MAGA following, repeatedly have suggested violence as a way to deal with Democrats and other political foes. In March, Oltmann said on his podcast that President Biden “should be hung by the neck until he’s dead” for supporting a ban on assault weapons.

“The question becomes: When do they stop being armchair warriors and move it back to the physical realm like we saw in the past?” said Rachel Goldwasser, senior research analyst at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors extremist movements.

A deceptive lull

The “death & destruction” Trump predicted on Truth Social when he was indicted in New York in the spring of 2023 did not come to pass.

Trump was found guilty May 30 in a Manhattan courthouse that had been fortified to withstand a mob attack. In the end, the trial drew Trump political allies eager to demonstrate their loyalty but few rank-and-file supporters.

The meager turnout was in line with new research by extremism monitors that shows a split security picture ahead of the election: high-intensity threats and intimidation online, low-intensity attacks and rallies on the ground.

That equation could change dramatically, however, depending on the outcome of the election. In 2020, the largest spike in far-right demonstrations occurred after the vote that November, said Kieran Doyle, North America research manager for the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, a global conflict monitoring group.

“So far, our data shows that things are less violent, with less far-right organizing than in previous years, but it’s too soon to relax,” Doyle said.

Far-right activity such as armed demonstrations — which surged during the Trump presidency — has plummeted in the past year or so for three key reasons, according to researchers.

One is that pro-Trump extremists don’t see him being in imminent legal peril or in danger of losing the election, so they aren’t staging massive national rallies as they did in late 2020 and early 2021, when “Stop the Steal” protests in Washington drew tens of thousands of Trump supporters from across the country in the false belief that Biden’s win was illegitimate. A February New York Times/Siena poll found that 81 percent of Trump backers believed he would win the 2024 race. (Among Biden supporters, 74 percent said they expect him to win.)

Second is the chilling effect of the Justice Department’s prosecution of rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, two organized extremist movements involved in the attack, haven’t recovered from the blow of losing their national leadership to federal convictions on seditious conspiracy charges.

“Although the Proud Boys are still one of the more active groups in the United States, their current activity is not comparable to what we saw in the lead-up to the previous election,” Doyle said. “And other groups, such as the Three Percenters and Oath Keepers, are more or less inactive.”

Third is that, by keeping online threats at a level researchers call “lawful but awful,” far-right bullies can intimidate their opponents without risking the legal consequences of in-person confrontations.

The success of intimidation campaigns is measured in surveys of elected officials at all levels who say the threats hinder democratic processes by dissuading candidates from seeking election or making leaders fearful of holding public events.

One in six local officials said they’d been threatened in the past three months, according to research by Princeton University’s Bridging Divides Initiative in conjunction with other partners. The figure was one in four for racial and ethnic minorities in local office.

“If threats and harassment are effective in pushing people out of public service or closing down space to participate in all types of democratic practice, then we may not actually see increases in physical violence,” said Shannon Hiller, executive director of the Bridging Divides Initiative.

Wild card factors

In the countdown to November, authorities are hardening up security at polling sites and teaching election personnel how to de-escalate hostile situations. Poll workers, election observers, journalists and campaign staffers are taking part in security trainings for the worst-case scenarios.

Extremism researchers are of two minds about the moves. On one hand, they say, the focus on security could scare off voters by exaggerating the risk on Election Day, which historically is calm. On the other, there is a real threat of an unforeseen flash point in the run-up to the vote — and not necessarily related to Trump.

Analysts say the lull could be broken by wild-card events such as a terrorist attack, foreign meddling, or problems at the borders. Even now they are gauging whether the quiet will hold through June, Pride Month, which in recent years has seen a spike in attacks on LGBTQ communities. Doyle, the data researcher, recorded a fourfold increase in far-right activity during Pride last year.

“If this year looks anything like that, this month might be a time when we see an increase in far-right organizing,” he said.

Doyle said white supremacists in particular are emerging as a renewed threat, with public activity increasing rather than receding as with other parts of the militant far right. A federal grand jury this month indicted an Arizona man who is charged in connection with planning a mass shooting of Black people in hopes of triggering a race war before the November election.

McCord, the former federal prosecutor, said the likeliest threat isn’t a Jan. 6-style siege on the Capitol but a targeted attack by an individual acting on conspiracy theories that have traveled from the far right to mainstream conservative circles.

For example, Trump and other prominent Republican figures routinely trade in White racial anxieties and echo tropes from the once-fringe “Great Replacement” theory, which imagines the engineered erasure of White people. Mass shooters have cited those ideas in manifestos that attempt to justify deadly rampages.

“These are lone actors carrying it out,” McCord said, “but they’re not lone actors in the sense of what inspired them.”

Extremism researchers say election denialism is another worrisome factor, with a cottage industry springing up around the conspiracy-fueled idea that the 2020 election was “stolen” from Trump — and that supporters should brace for a similar fight this year.

“They are continuously amped up. They’re constantly active, they’re constantly talking publicly, loudly — videos, forums, anything they can possibly do,” said Goldwasser. “They’re radicalizing people in large numbers.”

Only about a third of Republicans believe Biden’s 2020 election victory was legitimate, according to a December Washington Post-University of Maryland survey that is consistent with other national polling.

Trump has a long record of floating violent ideas should he not get his way, with references to riots and “bedlam.”

Alex Jones, the conspiracy theorist facing a court-ordered liquidation of his assets to pay $1.5 billion he owes for false claims about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, has told followers that there’s no need for violence given the popularity of Trump and the right-wing movement he represents.

As Jones said in a video just after Trump’s conviction: “We are intellectually, culturally, spiritually winning.”

Jones struck a more militant tone, however, when he appeared onstage this month at a far-right political convention in Detroit. He opened with one of his signature lines alluding to how conservatives should respond to what they view as Orwellian overreach by the government: “The answer to 1984 is 1776.”

Jones then led the crowd in chanting: “1776! 1776! 1776!”

Right-wing influencer Jack Posobiec told the audience that Trump’s victory was assured.

“We understand how to beat them, and we are going to take all of them down in just 140 days, on blessed Nov. 5, when Donald J. Trump is reelected president,” he said.

Just in case you're too stupid to be aware of the Electoral College, these polls are talking about the popularity contest that has nothing to do with who gets elected.

And considering that there are 5 MILLION more Democrat voters than Republican voters in California alone, a 0.4 lead for Joe Biden* is a fucking travesty for you guys. Joe Biden* was up 10.2 points on Trump this week 4 years ago at Real Clear Politics. I'm sure he was up 12 points on Trump at FiveThirtyEight at the same time.

Trump is leading Biden in all the swing state polls, even at FiveThirtyEight, and he's even basically tied with Biden in both Virginia and Minnesota too. States where no Republican should ever even be close.

Joe Biden* is fuckin' toast.

Debate night is 3 nights away. I wonder if you're even going to post here on Friday or not.

Barr knows Trump, but unless you are Trumptard, you already knew Trump was a goofy jackass who was incompetent at planning ahead, which is why Trump has been in trouble with the law for decades. Trump never anticipates what will obviously go wrong with his stupid plans.

I just find it amusing that a guy who you will admit lied for a living says something you believe is true, to sell a book, and all of the sudden that's the one time he's told the truth in his life.

You are a clown.

There is no pause, no gap, no separation between Trump Trumptard. They are a whole organism, not individuals. For an example of lacking individuality, every Trumptard plus Trump would insist that the national debt figures showing Trump having twice as large a debt increase compared to Biden are all lies:

National debt has for decades been a go-to issue Republicans try to use to persuade voters against supporting social programs — an issue that has crept back to the forefront with new reports that annual interest payments serving the national debt now exceed what the U.S. spends on its military.

But a new analysis reported by Axios makes it clear Republicans have their blame in the wrong place.

According to the report, former President Donald Trump's contribution to the national debt "was significantly higher, according to the fiscal watchdogs at the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, thanks to both tax cuts and spending deals struck in his four years in the White House," reported Neil Irwin. In fact, Trump added almost double the amount President Joe Biden did:

"Trump added $8.4 trillion in borrowing over a ten-year window, CRFB finds in a report out this morning. Biden's figure clocks in at $4.3 trillion with seven months remaining in his term."

In fairness, both presidents had to contend with a massively expensive and short-notice public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic, making both spend far in excess of what they would have otherwise. However, Irwin continued, "If you exclude COVID relief spending from the tally, the numbers are $4.8 trillion for Trump and $2.2 trillion for Biden."

A large portion of Trump's responsibility for the national debt comes from his 2017 legislation slashing taxes, which cut rates across the board and are projected to accrue almost entirely to corporations and the wealthiest earners.

"Deficit politics may return to the forefront of U.S. policy debates next year," noted the report. "Much of Trump's tax law is set to expire at the end of 2025, and the CBO has estimated that fully extending it would increase deficits by $4.6 trillion over the next decade."

Aileen Cannon Taking Big Gamble in Donald Trump Case: Legal Analyst

Published Jun 25, 2024 at 5:47 AM EDT

The judge in Donald Trump's classified documents case will likely reap "large rewards" for delaying his case, according to a former federal prosecutor.

Attorney Harry Litman, host of the Talking Feds podcast, wrote that Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, is taking a big gamble on a Trump win in the 2024 presidential election.

Litman wrote that Cannon's favoritism and many delays will likely be rewarded by a new Trump presidency.

"The latest reporting on Cannon confirms that she is willing to invite the deep disrespect of the community that normally determines a judge's professional standing," Litman wrote.

"If Trump wins in November, she has every reason to expect the gamble to pay large rewards. If he loses, she has every reason to expect to go down with the ship. It's a risk she appears determined to run."

Litman was reacting to the three days that Cannon had set aside to hear defense motions in the case.

It began with a hearing on Friday on whether prosecutor Jack Smith's appointment as special counsel in Trump's federal cases was constitutional.

On Monday, she devoted the day to hearing whether Smith's funding was lawful and on Tuesday she will consider defense attempts to have key prosecution evidence removed in the case.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon will entertain any far-fetched arguments from Trump's defense team delaying the trial start in the classified documents prosecution.

USA Today: Biden is a threat to free speech. Trump should call him on it.

Quote:

We are now seeing what is arguably the most dangerous anti-free speech movement in our history. President Joe Biden is, in my view, the most anti-free speech president since Adams. Under his administration, we have seen a massive censorship system funded and directed by the government.

A federal judge described the system as "Orwellian" in its scope and impact.

Biden has repeatedly called for greater censorship and accused social media companies of “killing people” by not silencing more dissenting voices. Other Democrats such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts have pushed for restrictions on "unacceptable" speech.

The Biden administration seeks to censor even true statements as disinformation.

For example, I testified before Congress last year on how Jen Easterly, who heads the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, extended her agency’s mandate over critical infrastructure to include “our cognitive infrastructure.” The resulting censorship efforts included combating “malinformation” – described as information “based on fact, but used out of context to mislead, harm, or manipulate.”

The left has picked up the cudgels of censorship and blacklisting once used against them. During the McCarthy period, liberals were called "communist sympathizers." Now, conservative justices are called "insurrectionist sympathizers."

A Contest Not Between Two Men, But Between Two Systems

One where, if you oppose the elected leader — be he Putin, Kim Jong Un, or Trump — you have to fear “retribution.” The other — loosely known as liberal democracy (small “L,” small “D”) — is where you don’t. That’s been the system I’ve enjoyed all my life and believed I always would. Yet Robert Kagan — Rebellion: How Antiliberalism Is Tearing America Apart — argues that:

One of liberalism’s great weaknesses has always been the belief in its own inevitability.

Depending on the outcome 133 days from now, it will remain our system — or it won’t.

. . . The institutions that America’s founders created to safeguard liberal democratic government cannot survive when half the country does not believe in the core principles that undergird the American system of government. The presidential election of 2024, therefore, will not be the usual contest between Republicans and Democrats. It is a referendum on whether the liberal democracy born out of the Revolution should continue.

Today, tens of millions of Americans have risen in rebellion against that system. They have embraced Donald Trump as their leader because they believe he can deliver them from what they regard as the liberal oppression of American politics and society. If he wins, they will support whatever he does, including violating the Constitution to go after his enemies and political opponents, which he has promised to do. If he loses, they will reject the results and refuse to acknowledge the legitimacy of the federal government, just as the South did in 1860. Either way, the American liberal political and social order will fracture, perhaps irrecoverably.

Although this crisis seems unprecedented, the struggle that is tearing the nation apart today is as old as the republic. The American Revolution did not just produce a new system of government dedicated to the protection of the rights of all individuals against government and community, the first of its kind in history. It also produced a reaction against those very liberal principles, by slaveholders and their white supporters, by religious movements, by those many Americans who have sought to preserve ancient, traditional hierarchies of peoples and beliefs against the leveling force of liberalism.

This struggle between liberalism and antiliberalism has shaped international politics for the last two centuries and dominates the international scene today. But the same struggle has also been fought within the American system since the time of the Revolution. The idea that all Americans share a commitment to the nation’s founding principles has always been a pleasing myth, or perhaps a noble lie. We prefer to believe we all share the same fundamental goals and only disagree on the means of achieving them. But, in fact, large numbers of Americans have always rejected the founders’ claim that all men are created equal, with “unalienable” rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and they have persistently struggled against the imposition of those liberal values on their lives. Great numbers of Americans, from the time of the Revolution onward, have wished to see America in ethno-religious terms, as fundamentally a white, Protestant nation whose character is an outgrowth of white, Christian, European civilization. Their goal has been to preserve a white, Christian supremacy, contrary to the founders’ vision, and they have tolerated the founders’ liberalism, and the workings of the democratic system, only when it has not undermined that cause. When it has, they have repeatedly rebelled against it.

A straight line runs from the slaveholding South in the early to mid-nineteenth century to the post-Reconstruction South of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, to the second Ku Klux Klan of the 1920s, to the Dixiecrats of the 1940s and ’50s, to Joseph McCarthy and the John Birch Society of the 1950s and ’60s, to the burgeoning Christian nationalist movement of recent decades, to the New Right of the Reagan Era, to the Republican Party of today.

The issues change—from fluoridated water in the 1960s to vaccines today, from allegedly communist-inspired Girl Scout handbooks in the 1950s to elementary-school curricula today.

The circumstances have varied—these movements have arisen in hard times, such as after the 2008 financial crisis, and in good times, in the boom years of the 1920s, the 1950s, and the 1980s and ’90s.

The media environments have shifted, from newspapers to radio and TV to the internet.

But the core complaint has been the same, as is the proposed remedy. All these antiliberal groups—the slaveholding South, the white Southern populists of the Jim Crow era, the Klan, the Birchers, the followers of Pat Buchanan—have feared that their idea of America as a nation of “small government, maximum freedom, and a white, Christian populace” was under attack.

All have believed elite cabals involving “Wall Street,” Jewish bankers, “cosmopolitans,” Eastern intellectuals, foreign interests, and Black people have conspired to keep the common white man down. All have sought to “make America great again,” by defending and restoring the old hierarchies and traditions that predated the Revolution.

The most successful leaders of these populist movements have always played to popular fears and resentments of the “elite,” the “liberal media,” and government bureaucrats who supposedly have contempt for “the people.”

Like Trump, they have flouted conventional norms of political and social behavior. William Buckley noted that the very “uncouthness” of George Wallace seemed to “account for his general popularity.” James Burnham marveled at how Joseph McCarthy’s “inept acts and ignorant words” had a “charismatic” quality that well expressed the fears and angers of his devoted followers. Opponents of the late-nineteenth-century white-supremacist populist Senator Ben Tillman of South Carolina called him “a transparent charlatan,” recklessly appealing to “the passions and prejudices of the ignorant” and wielding “the dynamic power of hatred.”

What their critics saw as boorishness and malevolence, however, their followers saw as strength and defiance against a world stacked against them. These were not the tame “conservers” of classical liberalism that some intellectuals claim as the true “conservatism” of America. They have been rebellious opponents of the system, “wreckers,” unabashedly antiliberal in both thought and manner, and that is what made them popular.

The Trump movement is no freakish aberration, therefore. Like the demon spirit in a Stephen King novel, it has always been with us, taking different forms over the decades, occupying first one party, then another, sometimes powerfully influential, other times seemingly weak and disappearing. Today it has taken control of the Republican Party as it once controlled the Democratic Party. And although people can point to many recent, proximate causes of its latest manifestation as the Trump movement, the search for such causes misses the point. The problem is not the design of the American system. It is not the Electoral College, which not so long ago favored the Democratic Party much as it today favors Republicans. It is not political polarization per se, which has often shaped American politics. It is not the internet or Fox News. It is not the economy: these movements have flourished in good times as well as bad. It is not this or that war, or any particular foreign policy. The problem is and has always been the people and their beliefs.

As in the past, millions of Americans are rebelling against the constitutional order and the liberalism it protects, and millions more, out of blind political allegiance, fear and hatred of the Democratic Party and “woke” culture, and out of ignorance or indifference to the consequences, are willing to go along with their party’s radical antiliberal wing even if it leads to the overthrow of the American system of government and perhaps the dissolution of the nation. . . .

November’s election is between two systems:

One, where you have to live in fear if you criticize the leader; the other, where you don’t.

Trumptards confuse "want" and "should". Specifically for 6ix: he "wants" to get drunk but he "should" be a teetotaler. Since 6ix's "want" overruled/overpowered/controlled his "should", for many years 6ix was a drunk because his "want" was what he "should" do, at least in his mind. And then one day his "should" switched from being a drunk doing what he "wants" to being a teetotaler for inexplicable/poorly-articulated reasons.

Want and should are pretty much identical for Trumptards. In contrast to Trumptards, successful people are firmly aware that their powerful wants tend to be unaligned with what they should be doing. Successful people tend to do as the should, not as they want. When they don't do as they should, they are aware they are going wrong. They do NOT become drunks because that is NOT what they should be doing with their lives. With Trumptards, they fuck up their lives by doing what they want and they get arrogantly argumentative (pissy) when made aware that they are fucking up.

From today, 6ix shows what prick he is by insisting his wants are far more important than what other people ought to be doing. 6ix wrote: "If you see somebody wearing a mask, punch them in the face for their own good"
http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=66093

Why is 6ix like this? His explanation: "Seeing people walking around in stores with masks on is bringing up a lot of bad memories." Like a typical Trumptard, 6ix insists the world has to adjust to his "wants" or else he will have a mental breakdown. It is not funny how many Trumptards are always on the edge of cracking up/going berserk because the world defines what Trumptards ought to do different than what Trumptards want to do.

Trump knows not the difference between want and ought. What he wants is to live a life straight from the Bible: headstrong, puffed up with pride, lover of money, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, rash, conceited. What Trump wants is everything he ought not do.

2 Timothy 3
New International Version

Trump has been reading the Bible to find all the old ways. He does not want to skip any of the twists and turns in behavior. His life is straight out of a Bible parable.

Donald Trump’s campaign is hard at work manufacturing a reason for him to skip Thursday’s presidential debate, and his latest tactic is the most ridiculous one yet.

Trump and his former White House doctor Representative Ronny Jackson, who reportedly kept the former president’s administration “awash in speed,” have repeatedly suggested that President Joe Biden will take performance-enhancing drugs before the debate, as part of their crusade to undermine the event and give Trump a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Now they’ve elevated their conspiracy theory even further: Trump posted a letter to Truth Social on Monday that Jackson supposedly sent to the White House demanding Biden submit to a drug test before the debate.

“I demand that you submit to a clinically validated drug test in order to reassure the American people that you are mentally fit to serve as President and not relying on performance enhancing drugs to help you with your debate performance,” Jackson wrote. The pill-pushing Texas Republican demanded that the results of the president’s drug test be made public.

In his letter, Jackson echoed Trump’s and right-wing media’s insistence that Biden is suffering from cognitive decline, including a reference to a video of Biden that had been doctored to make him appear to wander away from a group at the G7 conference, and Robert Hur’s damning report casting public doubt on Biden’s memory. Hur’s characterization of their interview has been contested by the White House.

All of this concocted drama around drug use, as well as claims that CNN will host a biased debate, positively reek of desperation to get the former president out of Thursday night’s presidential showdown. It’s not surprising, as Trump is not suited to actual debate: His speech is often erratic and incoherent, and he’s prone to going off on tangents. Plus, Trump has historically taken a hit in the polls after debating with Democrats, in 2016, and again in 2020. While Trump loves to hype up a crowd, he’s just not that convincing when he’s sharing the stage.

It also appears that Jackson may soon want to focus on problems of his own. The House Ethics Committee announced Monday that it will review a report from a congressional watchdog that discovered “substantial reason” to believe that Jackson had converted thousands of dollars of campaign money for his own personal use.

Jackson was demoted by the U.S. Navy in 2022 after the Pentagon inspector general found that he regularly drank on the job, berated his subordinates, and acted inappropriately. Last year, Jackson was filmed unleashing a profanity-laced tirade on a Department of Public Safety officer.

This exchange at the end of the first debate is probably the most overlooked and telling moment of any of the debates that year. Moderator Chris Wallace asks about election integrity and what each candidate would do to “reassure the American people that the next president will be the legitimate winner” of the election.

He begins by questioning Biden, who defends the integrity of in-person and mail-in voting, commits to accepting the results of the election — win or lose — and then knocks Trump:

“But by the way, if in fact [Trump] says, he’s not sure what he’s going to accept. Well, let me tell you something, it doesn’t matter, because if we get the votes, it’s going to be all over. He’s gonna go. He can’t stay in power. It won’t happen.”

We know now what happens next: Trump spends the rest of campaign season sowing doubts, declares victory on Election Night, claims the election was stolen, and then spends the next few months attempting to overturn the election results — culminating in the January 6 insurrection.

At the debate that September, Trump gave some clear warning signs. He claims that he wasn’t given a fair presidential transition in 2016 and 2017. He questions the credibility of mail-in ballots, repeating conspiracy theories about missing, lost, and fraudulent ballots. He declares there’s “going to be a fraud like you’ve never seen” and that “it’s a rigged election.”

And then he refuses to say if he will accept the results of the election. “If it’s a fair election I am 100 percent on board. But if I see tens of thousands of ballots being manipulated, I can’t go along with that.”

And nobody seems to bat an eye. Wallace, the moderator, did try to follow up earlier in the exchange to fact-check Trump’s claims about mail-in ballots and voter fraud, but he failed to press Trump on what he plans to do. Wallace instead seems to have been thinking about a 2000 presidential election scenario, where the Supreme Court essentially decides the victor. He asks Trump and Biden if the Court should settle electoral disputes.

Biden, meanwhile, dismisses Trump’s talk about accepting the election results:

“He has no idea what he’s talking about. Here’s the deal. The fact is, I will accept it, and he will too. You know why? Because once the winner is declared after all the ballots are counted, all the votes are counted, that’ll be the end of it. That’ll be the end of it.”

It wasn’t the end of it, but no one seems to have taken the possibility of a coup, overturned election, or insurrection seriously. None of this is mentioned at the second and final presidential debate a few weeks later.

God could have adjusted the laws of physics to make TV broadcasting impossible but then Trumptards would not have been the butt of TV's jokes:

The whole time? 'The Boys' has been making fun of Trumptards the whole time?!

Why fans keep missing the point of 'The Boys'.

by Alex Abad-Santos | Jun 25, 2024, 7:00 AM CDT

Since the show’s inception in 2019, The Boys has been a superhero allegory about Trump, dangerous authoritarianism, political fanaticism, Nazis, and America’s sway toward fascism. Its showrunner, Eric Kripke, has said as much interview after interview: This is a show explicitly about the allure of Trump and a critique of corporate America. The only thing that’s seemingly different in this fourth season is that it skates so close to what’s happening in the US now: Homelander (Antony Starr), a Superman-like sociopath who functions as the Trump stand-in, is facing a criminal trial and is fanning the flames of a January 6-like insurrection.

These angry public admissions from conservatives that they've spent the previous seasons cheering on this horrible character — only to now realize they're the butt of the joke — have become bigger than the show itself.
It’s a testament to our culture’s ever-diminishing media literacy.

This isn’t the first time in pop culture that a superhero satire has served as a warning about fascism and its biggest fans have whiffed on the point. That it keeps happening is a testament to how difficult it may be for all of us to not be lost in the allure of powerful people.

A Republican’s IVF-Ban Amendment Is the Last Thing the GOP Needs Right Now

The “life begins at conception” true believer is serious—and he’s not alone.

By Jim Newell | June 26, 2024 4:12 PM

“While I feel for couples that are unable to have children, the practice of IVF is morally wrong, and I refuse to support any legislation that condones its use,” Rosendale said in a statement. “My amendment will strip funding for this practice, which is responsible for the destruction of life to the tune of hundreds of thousands of children a year. If you are opposed to abortion, you should be opposed to the practice of IVF, which destroys twice as much life as Planned Parenthood yearly.”

Did a Democrat pay him to say this? Unclear.

Republicans in Congress have passed an appropriations bill that slashes funding for the Department of Justice because they're mad about its prosecution of Donald Trump. Seriously. They've also shoveled in a truckload of other ridiculous culture war proposals that won't pass but can be bragged about on Fox News. Whatever. But I want to know what's up with this:

Republicans plan to force votes on proposals including reducing to $1 the salaries of Lloyd Austin, the secretary of defense, and Alejandro Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, and cut off pay entirely for Antony Blinken, the secretary of state.

I know this is all for show, but why do Austin and Mayorkas get $1 and Blinken gets nothing? I thought they hated Mayorkas with the white heat of a giant sun? But he gets more lenient treatment.

What's up?

Republicans put forward a spending bill that would slash funding for federal law enforcement. However, they failed to find a way to defund the special counsel prosecuting former President Donald J. Trump.

On Wednesday morning, the Supreme Court inadvertently released a draft of its decision in Moyle v. United States, a major case about emergency abortions. The draft shows the court planning to punt the case, to help elect Trump, sending it back to the lower courts without any decision on the merits.

This outcome reeks of a cynical compromise, secured by the more tactical conservative justices, to push this explosive issue past this fall’s election. The Republican Party’s position — that states may force patients to the brink of death before allowing them to terminate a failing pregnancy — is politically toxic. A Supreme Court decision allowing states to impose such a draconian policy could hurt Republicans, and Donald Trump specifically, in November.

That's great. If they're coming out and saying it now, watch viewership fall to nothing and the show get cancelled. Season 3 was kind of trash compared to the first one anyhow and it's been falling off ever since they ended Season 1.

It's not as if they were subtle at all about it in the last 3 minutes of Season 3 and we hadn't already figured out where they were going with it 2 years ago.

*yawn*

Meanwhile, nobody has been cheering Homelander. He's the bad guy. In fact, he's the bad guy who runs all the other bad guys as they all cower in fear to him. We were rooting for THE BOYS, who have been spending 3 seasons trying to take him and Vought down.

Whoever wrote this article and just found out that The Boys was a TV show should probably watch the whole thing before writing about it instead of watching just the last couple of minutes on a youtube video and attributing the caricature the lefty showrunner presented as Trump voters on the show to actual people who don't vote the way you want them to.

The entire time most people were watching the show up until that point, we were all looking at Homelander, the other dirtbag super "heroes" and the Vought corporation as Democrat friendly. The media in that fictional universe sure backed all of them up, just like they back up Democrats 100% of the time in the real world. They, including Homelander, were also doing woke and "inclusive" commercials all the time at the direction of Vought.

New York Times just put out a poll that has Trump up +4 points on Biden*. The last poll they had was in early April before the Kangaroo Court and NYT only had Trump up +1. Back in December, NYT had Biden* up +2 on Trump.

He's back up to +1.5 on the polling aggregate at RCP and +0.1 at FiveThirtyEight.

Biden* was up +9.5 points on this day in 2020.

Aaaaaaaaaaand.... The reaction...

Good luck with that one, Jeff. You'd probably ought to babysit your showrunners after your colossal Lord of the Rings failure. Now they are destroying your most popular original IP.

And I'll be fair here. The show had always done a good job beating up both sides up until this point. If that's still the case and this is just bad fan reactions because of what the Lefty media who never watched an episode of the show before is saying about it now, maybe you'd better have somebody speak up and say something about it.

Otherwise... this show is dead.

Why Republicans Are Far Too Confident About November

By David Faris | June 27, 2024 5:40 AM

Trump cannot push through his long-standing polling ceiling of around 47 percent. Partway through his third consecutive presidential election, with virtually universal name recognition, Trump has yet to crack 48 percent in the RealClearPolitics head-to-head polling average against any of his opponents. A more visceral representation of this ceiling is Trump’s actual showing in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, in which he received 46.1 percent and 46.8 percent of the vote, respectively. Trump has dominated the American political scene for nine years now, and it is highly unlikely that he is going to meaningfully improve on that number in November.

The two major parties have rarely renominated someone who has already lost a general election, but when they have, they have almost never done better the next time around, at least in terms of raw vote totals.

Republican Richard Nixon in 1968, Democrat Adlai Stevenson in 1956, Republican Thomas Dewey in 1948, and Democrat William Jennings Bryan in both 1900 and 1908 all received a smaller share of the popular vote when they were nominated again after suffering defeat in a previous general election. Bryan is also the only other person in American history to receive his party’s nomination a third time after twice losing the popular vote—merely one reason why it was bananas for GOP primary voters to pick Trump again. True, Nixon won the Electoral College, but—like Grover Cleveland before him in 1892—he triumphed largely because third-party candidates (most notably segregationist George Wallace) drew enough votes away from his opponent to prevail.

In totally normal news, a report reveals that GOP Justice Clarence Thomas has accepted at least $2.4 million in “gifts.”

NOT TO MENTION AN ADDITIONAL $1.8 MILLION IN "LIKELY" GIFTS!

In contrast, Thomas’ fellow justices over the same period accepted a total of just 93 gifts worth a combined value of only about $248,000, according to the nonprofit group.
