Back and done for today. No luck at mah jong and I got a bin for some of my DVDs and videos. Trying to cut down on the dust around me.

Also found a notice at my door that the pest guy is going to come and do another buzz around my bedroom on Monday between 12:00pm and 3:00 pm. This time it is dust bugs he is spraying for. Could have told him that in the first place. Anyways only 2 hours out this time. So, should be back in by 5:00pm or a little after. At least this time I got a date and a time for him coming. Last time in August, I walked in on him just getting ready to start. Must have upset him. I know it did me.

Dust bugs?

Does that translate to dust mites?

*****

Speaking of dust ... back on steroids and with more energy, so I finally... FINALLY... gave our most-used rooms a damp sponge/ bucket of water dusting. It was so terrible, I hadn't dusted in months.

Dear daughter put me to shame by grabbing our (cordless HEPA) vacuum (such a wonderful gift from hubby!!) and vacuuming the floors a week ago, which were equally disgusting. So I got out out our 30+ year old monster, the one that can suck staples out of floorboards , and vacuumed the door mats, and finally dusted the house. It wasn't a spring cleaning kind of cleaning, but at least the house isn't terrible anymore.

Whew!

It translates to dust mites to me but dust bug is the pest guys words.

Yeah, binning things and get rid of coverings then a clean down with soap and water on somethings will get rid of a lot of the dust around me.

Back and in with small bins and videos and DVDs are now in them after being dusted. Books will take bins of two different sizes because the books in the bedroom are different sizes. Hard covers some are big and thick and some are smaller. Even pocket books are different sizes.

It'll be 101-103F (38-39C) until Tuesday, but on Tuesday it's supposed to drop to 89F (32C), and to 79F (26C) on Wednesday.

At least it's not a blizzard. All good, as long as the AC keeps working!

Hubby and dear daughter will do half the grocery shopping tonight after the sun goes down and ...

Oh dear! We just had a little jolt! Must have been very close, but very small. Gonna go check it out.

Later...

When you say "bin", what do you mean? Trying to picture it.

The only way I can keep things easier to clean is to box them up in some way. That way I don't have to lift and dust each piece. I've been agitating for decades to have acrylic doors put on our bookcases. Huhby says it makes the books look inaccessible. Easy for HIM to say, he doesn't have to dust.

Been agitating for a while for some sort of dustproofing for his tools in the garage too. But does he listen? Nah..... He'd rather complain how dusty everything is.

*****

Tomorrow is the last predicted heat blast: 105F (41C). After that, a day at 102F, and after that it drops to 90F (32C) and then finally 80-ish (27C) for the foreseeable future.

Whew!

By bin, I mean buying one of those plastic storage bins you see in Walmart or in hardware stores sometimes.

These books have been sitting out in the open since I unboxed them and moved in. I just didn't notice how much dust they were picking up.

I've got a couple of bookcases that maybe I should think about doing that too. Too much dust around them.

Also slide off that chair I am sleeping on and had it fall on me. Good thing it is an Ikea as I would have been hurt otherwise.

. or weather finally(!) turned. Yesterday was cooler but still at 90F (33C). Last night was awesome sleeping weather.

My friend up in the foothills got an evacuation warning yesterday. There are three big fires burning now, thanks to the intense, looong hot spell. But after determining that the fire was heading away from her, even SHE had a good night's sleep for a change!

I don't know what it is about that hot, interior wind that drives my sinuses and nasal passages nuts. We have an electronic air cleaner (electrostatic precipitator if SECOND wants to quibble about terminology) in our central system, and a HEPA air cleaner in our bedroom, plus AC and a humidifier if the air is too dry. In spite of all that, I have to use steroid rinses, Astepro spray antihistamine, spray and occasionally liquid decongestant, oral antihistamine, and nose strips just to get a crappy night's sleep. Last night my sinuses finally emptied and I slept like a baby, just with steroid rinse and oral antihistamine. It's a puzzle! Wish I could get that relief all the time.

ANOTHER earthquake, 0728 local time. At first I thought the dog was scratching herself hard and shaking the bed, but when I kept feeling the earth move, literally, for the next 45 seconds or so, I checked the Cal Tech seismology lab update.

Interesting sets of quakes. Last month's quakes on the Puente Hills blind thrust fault, where older rocks from the northeast being pushed up on top of younger rocks to the southwest, in three distinct waves...

this one at Malibu, on a completely unrelated fault line (small orange dot).

I got a pretty sweet one from North Face. My brother on the east coast gave it to me when I went out there last year and it's brand new. I think somebody bought it as a gift for him and it didn't fit. He's a lot taller and skinnier than I am and it fits me perfect. I don't even want to know what it cost. I could get away with wearing just that for most of the winter. It's unbelievably warm for how thin it is and they claim it's machine washable.

I don't intend to find out if it is though. I have plenty of other coats to wear and I only wear that one on special occasions. I love coats. Its' one of the few things outside of tools that I spend real money on. I've got about 10 of them in my coat closet, and that was after making some very hard decisions and giving half of them to goodwill. I still got a few Bill Blass and London Fog among others.

I really regret giving my huge puffy Tommy Hilfiger coat to Goodwill though. It looked like any of the coats they wore in 80's comedy movies on the ski-slopes. It wasn't my warmest coat or even the best to hold up against snow after I got a Carhartt from my folks, but it was so comfortable and it was mint. Forest green and black with a shine to it... it was striking. It just made SO much room in the coat closet for the rest of them. The Cardhart is nice when I'm snowblowing the driveway or working outside, but it's super rigid and boring grayish-black. The Hilfiger just really looked sharp on the coldest days of the year. Somebody lucked into a really nice coat if the employees didn't snatch that up before it went on the racks. Hope they took care of it.

Someone gave it to me a few winters ago and I just looked at the tag which said machine washable. Came out great. It's fairly heavy and warm too. Need that for the climate up here. Think she bought it at the local Walmart.

Batteries in tv remote have to stop dying when I am half asleep. It makes me think the remote has died, which did happen once. Anyways and batteries changed last night but they wouldn't work. Guess they were too cold as I got up and turned the tv on and they are working. I hate that but once again I punched a wrong button and have to sort it out later. Ugh!

Couple of things to do then I really have to give this publisher website a third read over and email the lady helping me. I still think she is reading it wrong.

How are you sleeping? If your sleep is being disturbed by a stuffed nose, aches and pains, too much light, some other discomfort*, or- God forbid - nocturnal seizures, that could be the source of your fatigue. I know you have thyroid issues but you're taking meds for that. Maybe you need a boost???

I may have mentioned Hashimotos thyroiditis, but it often comes along with Hashimotos encephalopathy, caused by autoimmune attack on the thyroid, and causes all kinds of symptoms, fatigue being the big one.

Oh, I totally understand! I go thru phases where I can barely get off the loveseat. Everything goes to hell.
Right now I'm on a modest dose of steroids which has boosted my energy to normal levels, but for two months before that it was just an effort to get up.
Wish I could help!

I can get small things done but I take my time with them. It's the bigger stuff that is the problem. Like getting rid of an old mattress and bed frame.

I need someone with muscles and a truck.

My sleep is being disturbed but that is because I am uncomfortable sleeping in a chair. You know the one I mentioned that fell on me a week ago. Also I can smell all the dust in the living room now that I've started really dusting and every so often it sets off a bit of a coughing jag at night.

I do take meds for my thyroid and it has been stable for a long time. Though it is slow.

Don't think I am having any night time seizures. I think the add on med is helping the Keppra. Another I have to do make an appointment to see the neurologist and let him know how I am doing. *sigh* Luckily his clinic is in a local hospital so not hard to get too.

Am also feeling older than my almost 60years. Was talking to someone at my senior's centre a few weeks ago and she said, "What's happening to me is "aging alone". Well, no duh!.

Oh. I thought you had an unplanned chair nap but that you slept in a bed.

Sleep is so important. I hope you find a way of getting better sleep!

Glad to hear it!
Sleep has been a HUGE issue for me. Much if the time its a very badly stuffed nose that keeps me awake, but at various other times its been arthritic like aches and pains that made my shoulders and hips hurt so bad they kept me awake, or heartburn. Daughter has a really hard time falling asleep. In her case we think it's neurological. Tried everything. I feel sorry for her, she wakes up so tired.

Sleep has been an issue for me over the years, like when I was looking after my mum. She would wake me up during the night and stuff and because of that I developed a bit of acid reflux. Nerves.
Then moving around so much. Never really being comfortable to sleep really good. And in the place before this walking those hills gave me leg cramps, so they would disturb my sleep in the morning or sometimes at night.
